Hello all,
I have a question regarding the base firmware I have found that is All_OYN_G950USQU1AQC8 multi cert tar.md5 . This firmware seems to be the base stock factory firmware and one user has tried to install it on the Sprint variant of G950U along with the PIT file and repartition. What seems to have happened is that we seemed to have returned to stock Sprint firmware. However, does anyone know why Sprint bootanimation and such will remain? Is this an issue with the firmware package (4.4GB and seems to have all G950U carriers within the file) or is this an issue with the ODIN software for this phone? Also, I know Sprint is a pain to deal with bc they seem to Carrier SIM lock once their SIM card is inserted. Maybe someone could shed some light on this process for us. I personally don't have another SIM to try. I will post the links to both the thread and firmware and pit files below in post 2. Also, found an interesting firmware that claims to have the eng bootloader but can't get it from the site as I am not able to purchase via yuan.
Thanks for anyones and everyone's help.

I believe the issue is we need the newer Odin with the userdata slot. That is where the boot animation and carrier specific items are.

I actually found the carrier specific files including the carrier forced install settings in cache.img.ext4 inside the firmware tar.md5 file

Nice! The test devices allow switching carriers just by changing the SIM. Maybe we can find a way to get the retail devices to do that.
Also guys I found this, not able to buy nor do I know much about it but the file name seems interesting

I don't remember much about it, but certainly couldn't see why it would cost more other than it being hard to find.

Looked up the issues i reported with it, most were app crashes or sluggish response. Probably not one i would pay for
Hey guys the device we are testing is mine. Also thinking it might be the odin. The funny thing is that I flashed that firmware and everything from sprint (meaning apps etc.) its not there except of course for the splash screen and locked to the carrier. Im still waiting on the ODIN because I bought a Sprint Galaxy S8 thinking it was unlocked and NOPE!!!

Thats weird because I looked for official TMO SM-N910T files and couldnt find them. They were all modified or developer preview versions not release versions. Also mine includes the AP, BL, CP, and CSC flashes.
So it's the sm-910t not the t3 version.
and you're right. The other post is for the sprint version. I'm getting a fail! (Auth) when I try to flash it

Thunder? Hardly, I could care less. This is not a popularity contest. Hence why my donate link doesn't even go to me.
I too was simply trying to also help out. There is no need for multiple posts of the exact same thing. (you were not the only one)
Some of the other posts were actually the wrong file and were bricking devices. I simply wanted to make sure people had the 100% for sure one.
Also AFH mirrors the file 6 times and is much faster then MEGA.
In addition typically/historically speaking stock firmware are usually posted in the Development section. (not a rule, I dont think)
4 flashes? What do you mean? There is one tar file in my zip.
---------- Post added at 01:36 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:17 AM ----------
Actually to add; Your post is very useful I would just re-word the title. (and if possible request that it is moved to dev)
Your title "Tmobile 6.0.1 ODIN files" is not very detailed and a poor choice of words for what you posted.
Including the model of the phone and the build version of the firmware you posted would be more helpful. (there are two different models of the Note 4 for T-Mobile)
Because you got the files from Kies it contains the firmware split into separate files.
AP - Main ROM Platform
BL - Bootloader
CP - Modem
CSC - Region / Carrier Data
These things are very useful for some "power users".
However to many users this can be very confusing to flash with Odin and would need further explanation.
The Firmware I posted is what every one is accustomed to. (a tar you flash via Odin in PDA/AP)

Then again it looks like this guy posted all of those files well before any of us. Dunno what to say at this point.

Ok does that help out. I changed the title hope that helps, Im still new to posting files like this but Ill get the hang of it eventually. As for requesting the move I dont know how to do that.
As for sammobile, yes they almost always have it immediately but unless you have a paid subscription you'll be downloading for half the day, which is why I uploaded to a different place.
I rather run from a jaguar then go to that site.

interesting. sammobile is slow but downloads usually take two hours top on good or regular days. yes, some days have had to start over a couple times so took all day because so slow and congested. was just putting it out there. sammobile isn't my first choice but it reliable and occasionally the firmware makes it there faster than here.
Thanks for the link. This is my first time seeing this link and I have google searched a bunch of them. So I googled specific to this model and I came to this link. Usually when I see xda I automatically check here first because I have had a lot of success in doing so thanks to users like yourself and many others. Keep up the good work ladies and gents.
N910t "virgin"
please, does it work with all operators ?
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!! I wanted to try out RR N on my Note 4 SM-N910T. I really love RR however during some phone calls, the caller couldn't hear me. A few other glitches. I tried all day today to switch back to stock and all the fireware I tried from SDA links failed in Odin. What a waste of a day!
Your link, even though it was mentioned was double posted, was the only one that came up in Google, and saved my phone! Thanks so much!!!!!!!!!!
Now I am just going to keep it rooted, Keep stock Rom, and use my paid version of Nova. I did like RR though. But I would rather a working phone best.

Thanks for this! Great to have! Appreciate it!
So on my wife's sprint s7, she setup finger print scanner for lockscreen. But some how got locked out. So all it would ask for is the password which she didn't remember either. So my only option was a factory reset. I did that in recovery but when it went thru setup, it wanted the Gmail associated with that device which was her email. It wouldn't take that either. So came down to needing to odin stock firmware. I forgot the other day her phone updated to PJ2 firmware. Well all I came across online was stock firmware for PF2. I used the newest odin and filled all slots with appropriate files and flashed. Get nothing but failed. Assuming it's because I couldn't downgrade firmwares. My total fault. I haven't odined or rooted my phones since the note 5. Where it was just one file to fill in on the ap slot on odin. So basically her phone is a paper weight because when I reboot it, it goes thru setup but once it gets to the point of connecting to network, it just wants to sit there. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there another firmware I can download to get my wife's phone working again? I couldn't find PJ2 Stock firmware anywhere online. Please help!!!
Try the unlocked firmware. PG9 was the unlocked version just prior to PI3 (the latest unlocked version). This will allow you to have hotspot without rooting.

I totally screwed up my last post. I copied it from notepad and most of it didn't copy over, which I just now realized after reading your quote of my post. Unfortunately when you switch to/from the sprint firmware to/from the unlocked firmware, your phone's data will be wiped, so essentially factory reset. So you would lose hotspot if you flashed back to the sprint firmware from the unlocked firmware. You could root, but the root for this phone on the sprint firmware is tricky and unstable. And I'm pretty sure from what I've read in the rooting thread that the last couple of versions of the sprint firmware (PH7 and definitely PJ2) cannot be rooted. I think the last sprint firmware version that you can even get root on is maybe PE1, and I don't think you can downgrade to that version any more because of the new bootloader.

I'm pretty sure you can. I had done it from an earlier unlocked version to an earlier sprint version. I think as long as the bootloader of the sprint firmware you're trying to flash back to is at least as new as the bootloader of the unlocked firmware you're coming from, it should work. But I haven't done it myself with these newer firmware versions. I bet after your wife uses the unlocked version for a while, she won't want to go back to the sprint version. I've never looked back since I tried the unlocked firmware. The only reason I did flash back to sprint firmware was just to see if it could be done. I immediately flashed the unlocked firmware back onto my phone. I really hate what sprint does to this phone with all the sponsored apps and sprint apps they dump on there, and most you can't remove or disable.

Has anyone been successful with rooting the Canadian variant using SamPWND method?
I've been too busy at work to try myself up to this point but would like to root and use the XAC or CHR CSC firmware for the system.img.ext4.
This has been asked in the SamPWND root post but answers are vague at best.
I am too is eager to root my s8 sm-g950w from Rogers, I don't care about unlocking the bootloader or custom roms or any in-depth customisation, I'm fine with Samsung's skin. I just want root access to use things like "freedom" for in app purchases or "gameguardian" and other apps that benefit from root.
Hope there is a method soon
Same here I am also wondering if there is a root for the Canadian version of the s8. And maybe sometime a boot loader unlock as well
---------- Post added at 03:00 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:11 AM ----------
So apparently it's the same procedure as the 950u version I'm going to try it on mine soon and I'll let youkbkw if it works or not
It is a sm-g950u. Look at the fine print on the lower back of your phone.
sorry that is what i mean to say sm-g950u but im trying this for the sm-g950w with telus as the carrier
The actual root method (SamPWND) will work but whether I can use the Canadian firmware is what I'm wondering. I don't want to use the 950U or U1.
I'm going to try but it'll be another week before I'm home and can do it.

Same here I am also wondering if there is a root for the Canadian version of the s8. And maybe sometime a boot loader unlock as well

So apparently it's the same procedure as the 950u version I'm going to try it on mine soon and I'll let youkbkw if it works or not

Thanks for letting me know. Just downloaded the Telus firmware and have been thinking about giving it a go. Will probably break down and use a US firmware at some point here. I thought I had made my peace with not having root but seeing that people have Xposed working too is pushing me over the edge to try. Not that keen on 80% battery though. Got spoiled by the battery life on my Pixel XL before it died and find I have to charge my S8 quite a bit more with fully working battery.
Hi all. Yeh the telus image did not work for me. Either. What I ended up doing to still have root is not to flash the image with flash fire. Basicly after I got super su on my phone I stopped

Interesting... Let us know if it works well. In the root thread OP it says that might not be stable or smooth
Yeh it works fairly well. In my oppinion. Only issue is chrome does this weird thing it's hard to explain but it does not crash.

What kind of issues do you have after rooting?? Everything all good just following the guide?
Yeh I unrooted yesterday because it was to glitchy for me some apps I use like air audio did not work well and a few others. and like I said earlier the telus firmware gave that locked phone error so i kept the modified firmware on it overall I don't recommend if you are given that error and using just the modified firmware. and on top of it the 80% battery was a issue also.

My understanding is that we can use the 950U1 firmware to do the second method where root is more stable but I haven't tried it yet.
So your saying we just need to wait for another method?? Glitchy root isn't worth it. Sounds like there's way too many issues not to mention it being too unstable

What's wrong with using the U1 firmware for flashing the second part?
It's an unbranded/unbloated version which has all the US and Canada frequencies.
You can dial *#243203855# (or make a shortcut to the activity Preconfig with ShortcutMaster) and select XAA or XAC then select "Do not change QA" which will lock in the CSC settings permanently without switching based on the inserted sim.
As far as waiting for another method, probably not a good idea since the US root took months and many devs to come alive.
If you do Part 2 with the U1 firmware it shouldn't be too glitchy. The 80% battery remains. There's a fix for the green screen issue.
I'm not sure what is lost by switching to US firmware from the Canadian firmware, if anything.

Im with rogers. The only issue i seem to have noticed is. There is u.s. options. In settings. An xac is showing when in download mode rather than rwc like it originally was. Also bixby an samsung translation seems to not be working . I think im going to try to flash the csc file for xac from sammobile an see if that fixes any issues (radio issues)
I dont think it has anything ti do wit csc. Just checked nuff samsung apps. Heres the issue i think with some of the apps from samsung. (Samsung root security)

Please do a search..this has been addressed multiple times. All US S7 Edges' are able to interchange firmwares. So, it will be ok for you to flash the T-Mobile firmware on your device.

I have been searching, but getting conflicting or dated info. Since you've stated as of today that all are able to interchange firmwares I'm hoping you can clarify for me. From what I've seen, since my S7 Edge is on G935PVPU6BRD2 (Sprint), with the 6 indicating BL 6 if I'm understanding correctly, would I still be able to odin the most recent T Mobile firmware, G935TUVS4BRC1 with the 4 indicating BL 4 (again, if I am understanding this correctly) on to it? From my searches it seems that I may not be able to flash a lower BL #. TIA

Mr Clown is correct. This info is VERY easily found with a little Google grease. Sorry if I've stepped on your toes @Mr. Clown.

My recommendation is that you flash ALL files (BL, AP..etc) from the T-Mobile firmware (or whatever carrier you want to flash). If not, you might get some annoying issues on the way.

Thanks for the reply. So the BL version is of no issue when flashing from a higher to a lower in this scenario then?

Sir, you are correct, this is a major pain in the ass that Sprint has become the only carrier to currently use this 'bootloader' or 'binary' version 6 (5th Digit from last indicates this) and you are not able to install any other firmware because the Unlocked and other carrier firmwares are still using bootloader 4. I was hopeful since Sprint came out with the 6 that the other carriers will be updating to the version 5 (being as i'm currently stuck on Sprint's bootloader 5 firmware) when the official oreo update comes to these other carriers.
Also, if your searches are turning up with possibly outdated or incomplete information it has helped me to go thru each of the carriers seperate threads for this device to locate additional and more recent information.

Yes, I have found that it is indeed a very big issue. As my password with my former carrier stated: Sprintsux1big1. Spent most of a Saturday working my way out of a soft brick bootloop after being assured here in this thread that "No, there are no issues" with downgrading to a lower bootloader on this device. I should have known better, but accepted that statement at face value based upon the source. So... now I too await the Oreo update. With scant hope that T Mobile's Oreo will come with bl 6.

that is extremely unforteanute.. sorry. You can still use sprint firmware and sim unlock the device, it's a poor substitution but a workaround.

Great guide but you should mention from where you got AT&T firmware for note 8. This firmware is not that easy to get.

It says still updating...but will do...I'm just not finished yet...that's why is says at the bottom to pm me and still adding thanks tomorrow...and samfirm will download the ATT files...also I did not host the ATT firmware as it is still directing to your link...if I host files I find them myself...you can also purchase a subscription to other VIP hosting sites and download the ATT firmware...I just haven't bit the bullet...and I have pointed several people to your same link....in various posts...in no way did I take credit for it...not to mention that you yourself have no mention of where you got it, unless you developed it yourself...lol....I will be hosting AT&T firmware that I get myself though...thanks for the pm...I appreciate it... I'll be sure to give you credit as "and others" in the guide...
Please if anyone feels that they should be mentioned...pm me...it takes a while to create a thread that is semi-professional and not just a single link...and I may leave things out unintentionally...a pm will allow for edits quietly and professionally...please enjoy and I do not require credit because all we are doing is sharing and contributing for the sake of enjoying our Note...

So has the experience been better using this rom over stock? Any improvement on battery life? Performance?
So I have a unlocked carrier Note 8. I flashed the AT&T firmware and still do not get Wi-Fi calling. VOLTE works but trying to setup Wi-Fi calling fails.

Someone said to add fota to apn using shortcut master lite to get OTA from ATT if you don't get OTA updates normally...but yeah if all is stock and working cohesively you should get OTA from them. If you are on unlocked and you just flashed csc and USERDATA files you may still get from Samsung...you just got ATT to whitelist the imei...
Some of the unlocked updates have came from carriers...though (it's kind of odd I looked at where my SPR SM-N950U1 came from and it was the same server that the Sprint s8+ updates came from...then I went back to just XAA and checked for the XAA SM-N950U1 and it was a Samsung server...so you may be getting ATT no matter what once your imei is rightfully registered...
All firmwares for SM-N950U and SM-N950U1 are located at link in OP....for those looking for Firmware

Not sure, I haven't looked....
My zips include BL, AP, CP, CSC, HOME_CSC, and USERDATA...
This one is ATT...
It is compressed individually...and includes a note to use new Odin
So I just flashed the latest att firmware on my Verizon note 8 and just trying to get volte and wifi calling to work but no luck. I've read the combanation file is need to "carrier switch" but none of the combanation files seem like they go with the latest pie firmware? And help and or pointing in the right direction would be greatly appreciated
My Note 8 was purchased from ATT, then I unlocked it using a service, then I switched to T Mobile years later. When I switched to T Mobile, the firmware updated itself to T Mobile after I booted with a T Mobile SIM.
Now, I am trying to flash it to U1_XAA so that I can gift it to someone in China. However, after factory resets, even from the recovery menu, it fails almost immediately during flashing. Would you please guide me on how to get this flashed to U1_XAA? Or is it ok just to leave it the way it is (U_TMB) and send it out?
Thank you!
P.S. this is with Android Pie, since I got the update while I was still on ATT. I tried flashing with the patched Odin as well, same thing...
