Screen rotation question - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Any body know of a way to enable 180 screen rotation? I'm finding sometimes my hand blocks the speakers when browsing and watching videos. Might be better holding phone upside down with these new fancy on screen disappearing buttons

I believe there might be an app in the Play Store which could help. I haven't tried it yet. Look for Rotation Control. The first one that comes up has 4.5 star rating. There's several though.

Wavy Portrait Scrolling

Has anyone noticed that when scrolling through text in portrait mode (PDF's, web pages), the left side of the screen (bottom in landscape) lags behind the right side (top in landscape) enough to where it produces a wave effect? It's pretty darn noticeable.
I'm planning on sending my tablet out soon to be repaired for the screen hopefully, so I'll update this if it ever gets fixed.

Yes, it's normal.
Is there any reason why it does this?

I think it's just the graphics hardware trying to keep up with all the pixels it has to refresh.
IPad 3 and 4 have the same problem.

It's weird though because it only happens in portrait mode, not landscape.

The way the screen refreshes the side farthest from the camera always lags behind the side nearest the camera. The lag probably still exists in landscape, but in that case the delay would cause a slight compressing or stretching of the image. I'm guessing the delay is there, but just harder to notice.

Burnt screen image

Anyone else notice that the statusbar got burnt into the screen? Like when I rotate to watch a YouTube video I notice at the top of my phone the color is off a bit. So does anyone else notice this?

Considering the S4 uses OLED it's definitely a concern that a image could end up burned in. However, it's unlikely if you keep your brightness at a moderate amount opposed to max all the time and have the notification bar hide itself during normal operation. I've had my phone for several months and still haven't had any issues with image burn... but it really depends on the amount of usage I suppose.

If I knew it had a chance of doing it I would have had the status bar turn off. But now its useless, its jot 100% noticeable, when I watch a YouTube video the color is just slights off, noticeable if you're look for it. But it just sucks that its doing that, along with my sides of my screen are coming loose. I don't know. I use my phone a lot as its my means of everything. I use it more than my laptop.

You might be able to get a refurb thru warranty for the screen burn in...not positive but id assume that you could
But yeah, any oled screen (just about every samsung phone) is at risk of screen burn ins

Capacitive buttons on Gold S7 Edge

Does anyone else that owns the gold S7 hate that the capacitive buttons have a yellowish tinge to them? Kind of wondering what the other versions buttons look like, are they pure white like I am used to on my past galaxy phones? Anyone know of a way to boost brightness of the buttons without root?

I own a gold s7 edge, never noticed how it was off white until just now... I mean it's not that bad but now I can't unsee it and it bothers me. I used to have a black one and they were honestly kinda off white. Samsung now tints it so it almost looks like the buttons aren't even there until the backlight for the buttons actually turn on. Did they tint it on your s6 edge too or no?

Lol sorry to ruin it for you it definitely cannot be unseen, but no my black s6 edge had pretty white capacitive buttons... however I can see your point regarding tinting them to blend with the color of the body. Not a deal breaker for me but wondering if it's normal and if there's a way to adjust the brightness/whiteness since we will not be seeing root most likely

Why not just turn the capacitive buttons off.... no more tint

I honestly like the buttons, just wish they were a brighter white when they light up. I saw there's an app for controlling how long they stay on or shut them off completely without root, but I just want them to look less yellowish. I've become very particular in my older age lol and rooting has spoiled me!

you can do that? When I had the iphone I missed the back button but now the downside is that when my baby watches a show on youtube she always hits it and turns off the video which is annoying.

Yeah the app is called galaxy button lights in the play store, it doesn't require root and allows you to turn them off/on and change the duration they stay on for. Unfortunately it doesn't completely disable them, they just don't light up if you turn them off. So the baby could still push them accidentally. I just use chrome cast for my kids when they want to watch a video, seems to help most of the time.

Vibration Motor Tapping on Screen !?

Just got my moto x style to maybe replace my LG G4.
I noticed this strange thing. When I type on the keyboard with the phone in portrait and vertical or if I am lying down and the phone screen is tilted toward my face the vibration function on the keyboard causes some strange tapping noise on the screen! At first I thought maybe there was a small person trying to get out of my phone but there definitely isn't because I looked through the headphone Jack and couldn't see anyone in there!
Seriously though I also noticed the screen sounds really hollow when I tap near to the centre.
Overall though love this phone but also love the G4.
Anyone else notice these oddities.

That's no person in there. It is the demon that sketches the images on the screen for you. He's knocking because he is displeased with the angle you are asking him to work at.
Seriously though I can't duplicate this. My keyboard vibrate on press sounds the same no matter what angle I hold the phone at. Maybe your vibration motor isn't mounted all that solidly.
Cool drawing. Yes I figured maybe it's loose.

Sensitivity

Is there a way to increase the touch screen sensitivity on this phone?
Sent from my Mi A1 using Tapatalk
No. The touch interface is pretty slow and inconsistent compared to better phones. You will have to live with it.

I'm noticing this phone has a lot of issues... I was pretty excited at first, but now I'm more I'm really undecided among phones with similar specs (moto g5s plus...)

what is the problem with touch that you are facing?
I don't have any issues with touch sensitivity, how do you see that ?
One finger touches are fine and accurate it's when you use 2 thumbs when playing games. Sniper type games are the most noticeable, while using my left thumb to aim it doesn't register my right thumb tapping the shoot button unless I press really firmly also if I hold the shoot button the aiming get notch too but I only noticed it after the September update and not sure if it was there before that

Do you use screen guard for your mi a1? I don't know if your screen guard is the problem or something else though. If you use screen guard, try to remove it and see if it solved. Hope this works.
