Hi! i'm having trouble activating the "ok Google" hotword via any headset, i have had tried wired headsets and bluetooth, the phone only listens through the built in mic, can't get the activation through the headset mic... Any suggestions?
Google Pixel 5"
Android 7.0.2
Google app 6.16.33.21
Say "Ok google" any time - ON
Trusted Voice - ON
Hands-free for bluetooth devices - ON
Hands-free for wired devices - ON
Check the settings of the bluetooth device itself. I believe you need to have "Phone audio" checked.
I know this works on mine, through my car. I've not tried it with just a headset though.

I have had a Jabra BT Headset for a couple of years and it works well. I have recently purchased a XCarLink with BT and am now using this in my car instead of the headset. One thing that I liked about the headset was how it worked with M$ Voice Command - i.e. press the 'Talk' button and Voice Command would start and you could say 'call xxx' etc. With the XCarLink if I press the 'Talk' button this justs stops any music that was playing but doesn't start Voice Command.
Is there any tweak I can apply to get this behaviour?
Andy
More testing......
I have been doing some more testing with this as the Jabra BT headset stopped activating Voice Command...
Anyway I have tested a couple of different versions of Voice Command (1.6.19214 & the one from the Diamond 1.6.19581) and both behave the same. If A2DP Joint Stereo is enabled (HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\A2DP\Settings - UseJointStereo=1) then the 'Talk' button on the BT headset no longer activates Voice Command. If Joint Stereo is disabled the 'Talk' button activates Voice Command (after a soft-reset).
I haven't had time to check the behaviour with the XCarLink but I will post the results when I do.
If anyone has any experience with this or knows a fix then I'd appreciate it.
Andy
Anyone been able to get voice dialling working from the Xcarlink? I just bought one and am having the same problems.
I use my Hero in the car for sat nav, using Copilot. I also connect it via bluetooth to the stereo to give me hands-free calling.
The problem I have is that when I do, the sat nav voice doesn't come out of the speaker of the phone, but is routed to the stereo. I can hear it when I select bluetooth as the source on the stereo, but this means that I can't listen to the radio/CD/ipod and hear the sat nav directions.
I used to have exactly the same issue using TomTom on Windows Mobile, however there was an option there when it connected to the stereo to only use it as a headset, not for wireless music. I can't seem to find this option on the Hero.
There is also the known issue that the Hero doesn't support transfer of contacts over bluetooth - that's annoying but I can live with it, however the problem above is a real pain. Any ideas?
Think I found it - once you have paired a device, click and hold it under Bluetooth settings, then you have the option media - unclick this and all should be well! Still need to test it though.
Another method,
On my bluetooth car stereo I can "discnct Audio" seperately from "discnct Handsfree" and "discnct Phone"
Just FYI.
So, I received my new S4, and paired it with my car Bluetooth. I found the setting in locations to tell the phone when I am connected to this Bluetooth, I am in the car. Great! When it connects to the Bluetooth, it initialises S voice, so it can be controlled with voice. That is when the problem begins....To use the voice feature, the phone needs to hear my voice, but because it is connected to the car Bluetooth, the phone mic is off, waiting for input from the car mic. But you cannot access the car mic unless a call is being made! Any ideas anyone??? Please?:crying:
Hello.
I have bought my new Galaxy S4 and I have some problems using it in my car.
My car is Audi A4 equipped with MMI 2G, vocal commands and bluetooth hands free.
If I connect my phone with my car, all is ok (calling and receiving calls, phonebook transfer and I can still use my car's vocal commands.
I am not able to use S-Voice Drive.
If I start car mode on the phone, s-drive automatically fire up when bluetooth connected but it still use my phone mic and speaker.
How can I solve? Someone has the same car/system?
My system does not support A2DP....
Thank you.
Chris
Are you sure your expectations are right? I have S4 and MMI 3G and S-Voice doesn't transfer to the car speakers. It didn't occur to me that it might/should, all I expected was hands-free function for phone calls and the ability to dial from the car's MMI interface system.
The Bluetooth profile in the pairing settings on the phone is "call audio" only. There is no "media audio" so I'm guessing the only function supported is to handle the phone audio.
Have you seen something suggesting that audio output other than calls should transfer via bluetooth to the car speakers?

No, nothing, but I would like to have it to the car speakers and mic.
I tried a different bluetooth mono router software but no luck.
I hope someone has solved this with some kind of thirdy party software...
I'm not a techie, but I am guessing that the functionality is limited by the bluetooth profiles supported by the paired devices. If Audi have loaded only the call audio in the MMI software then that is all the car can do.
It looks like you can get after-market A2DP hardware installations (this is a MMI 3G solution, for example). That might enable audio streaming from your phone via Bluetooth, but whether S-Voice would stream also I'm not sure. If I'm honest, I doubt it is possible.
I am experiencing same issue and weird thing is that if I connect IPhone 4S and run Google Navigation I hear navigation instructions in car's speakers but with Galaxy S4 I can't get it to work for navigation instructions.
My Google Maps' navigation setting - Play voice over Bluetooth toggle is not working. When my OP5 is connected to my car Bluetooth, the navigation voice always output to my car's BT. It doesn't matter if I have the "Play voice over Bluetooth" toggled ON or OFF.
I really want my phone & media to connect to my car BT and always redirect the navigation voice to OP5's speakerphone.
Does that toggle works for you guys?
