Greetings,
My device (LG-H918) currently has a bootloop issue after 4 months of reliable service. My problem started when I plugged in my Device for an overnight charge (using my Samsung wall charger from my Samsung Galaxy Note Edge). The following day My device was very warm to the touch and the display was showing a bootloop (repeating LG splash screen). I received a replacement device from T-Mobile (sans battery, back cover, and sim card). The device worked at the T-mobile store. Later, while I was reloading my apps and changing the settings on my device, I plugged it in to recharge the battery (Using the LG wall charger). 5 minutes later the bootloop issue returned. At this point, I have concluded that the issue is most likely with the battery, considering that the battery in question is the same one that was included with the original device and was installed when the device was experiencing the bootloop issue. I found a youtube video where an individual solved his bootloop by replacing a component in his LG device battery (which supports my contention regarding a damaged battery). I am currently waiting for a replacement battery that I ordered on eBay. My question is how can I prevent this issue from happening again with the replacement battery? I have reverted to using the LG wall charger supplied with my device (although the Samsung wall charger output specs are similar). I also am using a micro usb to usb-c adapter (I doubt that the adapter is a factor considering that i have been using the cable since I purchased the device from new). Are there any wireless charging option, or external chargers with overvoltage/thermal protection available?

phone only started doing this over the last couple months, used to be able to plug in (either charger / cable) and charge in AC mode without supervision.
Nowadays, it takes several plug in attempts to even START in AC mode, but typically it'll drop down to USB (the screen comes on momentarily when the change occurs) at some point in the charging.
Worst case scenario, it'll change rapidly back into AC and out, to the point where I can watch it on happen on the screen. That's rarer though.
It never changes INTO AC and stays there, to be clear. Always a downgrade to USB charging.
Is something wrong physically with the jack on the phone? I've never damaged the phone, dropped in water, etc.
If RMA is what's suggested as my only option - is that a brand new phone or refurbished?
Use another USB charger, its a known problem with the supplied LG charger with the N4. I myself have this problem but am using another charger and its fine.
The USB cable has no problems btw, its the charger itself.
Can you link to your sources on this being a "known problem" ?
I'm pretty sure the same issue persists with my old Samsung charger too - the one supplied with the Galaxy Nexus. So.. that suggest the problem is with the phone, not the charger/cable.
i also have the exact same problem just now.. i'll try using another charger tonight at home..
just now i charged my nx4 using its original charger, in just a couple of minutes, the phone is saying that its being charged using usb.. stupid..
I'm also getting this at the moment, I'm completely stock, not even rooted and this has cropped up only since the 1.8mb Security Patch....
Any fixes?
Will root if I can fix it....
I was/am having this issue as well. I typically charge my phone via car charger (works fine) or wireless, so I can get around this issue easily. Plugging it into the PC and enabling fast charge with franco's kernel works as well.
I tried my N10 charger and it was dropping to USB as well. When I'm at my friend's place and use his generic charger, it works fine.
I used to have this issue but ever since I updated Android to 4.3, my charging works just fine.

Might try a factory reset and see does it make any difference...
do we have any more thoughts on this issue? is it a software bug? is it hardware? which hardware? I am going to experiement with a few different wall chargers and usb cables.
so 3 chargers (Galaxy Nexus' , Nexus 4's, USB 3.0 port on PC) and 3 cables (likewise + cable from monoprice)
SEEM to yield the results, that the problem is the connection between the cable and the phone. The oldest and most used cable has the hardest time establishing and maintaining an AC connection, the newest/lest used one from monoprice has never had a problem, and the LG cable is in the middle.
Is this an issue of wear and tear on both the cable connectors and the phone's port? It's really lame the phone and it's cable are not even a year old and THAT can't stay charging at AC voltages.
Will a replacement phone from Google be a refurbished unit or brand new?

They will send you a new (not refurb) phone and you will have 21 days to send back your old phone. The replacement process is super easy, just call them at +1 855 83NEXUS and tell them your issue. They will walk you through a factory reset and if the problem is not fixed they will replace it.
I've had issues with the microusb port on multiple phones in the past, and have definitely noticed the N4's socket getting looser.
On an old HTC sensation, I had to resolder the port on. Can you reproduce the behavior by applying slight pressure to the plug in various directions?
Does your connection also intermittently drop out when connected to a computer?
A workaround for the time being could be to use a kernel that allows you to force fast charging regardless of the detected charger. But at that rate, it's quite possible you'll lose your usb port altogether sometime in the future..
You could also enable adb over wireless, and check the charger type:
Code:
cat /sys/kernel/debug/msm_otg/chg_type
You should be seeing DCP (has the data pins connected, possibly with some resistance).
Or proprietary if you're using an Apple-compatible charger (has aspecific voltage on the data pins).
If you see SDP, it means it's in "USB" mode.
If it's staying DCP/proprietary but the charge rate is dropping to "USB," it means the phone is throttling down the current because it's detecting the charger can't deliver (voltage dropping below threshold).
with the good cable (monoprice), wiggling has no effect.
with the poorest cable (samsung), wiggling will rapidly change it between AC / USB / nadda
with the LG cable, wiggling, will SOMETIMES have an effect. sometimes it's solid and will only become a flaky connection after it's been charging a while already
Hello,
Two weeks ago I bought a wonderful tablet Lenovo Yoga 2 pro.
Amazing tablet, and the built-in projector is just a bonus in addition to his other great features.
The tablet comes with a powerful battery and a quick charger.
But, after only a week since I bought it suddenly it stopped charging quickly as normal.
and now even with the original charger it charged only 1-2% per hour. It also does not display the battery charging icon above.
And another thing, Connecting a data cable / OTG also does not work (this is the same socket connection).
It happened after a night it was connected to a charger. And and a day after I was connecting a dok OTG.
What do you think it could be ... I am desperate for help
I think it could be two directions of issues, or programmed settings of the USB socket somehow got stuck in the mode that takes power.
Or otherwise that the socket is screwed hardwarely.
(I'm not giving it back to Lenovo's responsibility since I bought it in the United States on a trip and now I have returned to Israel ...
Thanks to all who help.
Hi , I have exactly the same problem after I connected to an OTG a micro-usb pendrive for a while , except that when charging it displays the charging icon but as you mentioned it charges 1% /hour but if the tab is off it does not charge at all
Did you find since then the solution to that problem?! my email : [email protected] thank you and I appreciate your help!☺
I had the same problem and I had to send it back to Lenovo for warranty, they replaced the motherboard and battery as part of the repairs.
I tried everything to fix it myself outside of cracking the device apart beforehand with no results.
When I had the issue, I couldn't sync the tablet to my PC either.
After it was returned, no issues.
Also same problem above so slow charging then if the tablet is off it is not charging at all plz help me thabks
I have the T-Mobile version of Galaxy S4, purchased July 2013, stock ROM, latest update.
Recently, while connected to the charger, the charging icon showing on the screen, the battery percentage number goes down, until it finally runs out of power. Not only does it not charge while charging, but the power depletes.
I have tried it with different chargers and cords, same problem, so the issue clearly is in the S4 itself.
Fortunately I have an external battery charger and extra batteries, and that is the only way I can keep my phone running now. (The problem occurs with different batteries too, so the issue is clearly in the phone.)
What can be causing this problem? Any way I can fix it? (Of course it is out of warranty, so send to warranty repair is not an option.)
Thanks in advance for your help.
Well from what you say, it obviously is the charging port on the phone that is faulty.
Unless it has a software bug whicj limits the current.
It won't give the battery enough current. This also happens if you charge the phone through the usb port on a pc.
Changing the micro usb port on the phone would be an option. You can take it to a repair center or do it yourself, if you have the technical know-how.
Althoug, this won't guarantee succes. Some people said that even after changing the micro usb on the phone, they still had issues. Probably due to incorrect mounting.

So I have a strange problem. A few days ago I discovered the phone was charging so slowly and on the lock screen a text appeared: "Charging slowly". It's equivalent to USB charging with a PC or notebook. However I use wall charger the same as before, from October 2017. Ok, I thought the charger has some failures, tried an other one. Same.. "Charging slowly" (I used this second charger before and it worked well..) Then I changed the cable. Same message (I also used this cable so 100% it's not defective).
I tried 3 roms. Refleashed the stock, RR and AEx. Tried different kernels: void, mint, franco. Nothing has changed.
May it be a hardware-related issue?
Thank you
Hi did you managed to find a fix?
I am having the same issue - lock screen a text appeared: "Charging slowly". Switched few cables still having same problem. I am convinced is not cable or charger issue.
Your wall charger is most likely the problem, even official can fail, you need a powerful aftermarket to test, it could be the cable but most likely the charger no providing enough power.
No A1 but android, see here: https://android.stackexchange.com/q...d-phone-charging-slowly-how-to-make-it-faster
I use either samsungs ep-ta20ewe or lg's mcs- h04er charging between 1600-2000 mA in accubattery pro.
I've switched few cables and 2A chargers. All getting the same "Charging slowly message"
The reason why most of you are charging so slow is because most likely, your phones are warm
As soon as the battery reaches 38°c, charging begins to slow down and will continue to be slow unless you cool the phone down
The battery temp is ok. 34°C
Solution: USB module replacement
I got back my A1 about two weeks ago. The service replaced the USB module at the bottom of the phone and now it works. I used a Tronsmart QC2 charger before. Since it's been repaired I use the stock charger. I was a bit curious and tried a few days ago with the Tronsmart. Same message: "charging slowly".
I think my Tronsmart charger is deffective and now I avoid using it..
Sum up, the repair shop diagnosed the problem. The phone became deffective but they are not sure why. The USB module replace turned it good again but with the Tronsmart charger it still doesn't work. I have to use the stock charger.
(also works with other chargers from my old Samsung phones). Interesting.
(they changed the USB module under warranty, but otherwise it costs in Hungary 10 000 HUF (~31 EUR, ~36 USD).
(refer to my thread opening post, before the USB replacement, the charging with the stock one was as slow as with other chargers, ~200mah, after replacement it's ~1800mah again)
I replaced the A1 USB C module and this fixed the problem

The same solution as in my case. Nice to hear it fixed this annoying issue.
I was running into the same problem, but after 2 months of replacement I got the message of charging slowly again. Been trying to change the adapter and cable but still not working, til I got the idea to use my mac's charger and it works. I don't know why, anyone's having this issue?

Install Ampere from the Play store and check the speed. It should be ~1400mha.
Having the same issue but i found a tricky solution
I am currently running dotOS and earlier I was on Pixel Experience...on the lock screen i used to get this message along with the current and the voltage readings (mA and V) so all I did was I tried to remove and put the cable back in the phone and everytime the values changed a bit....doing this 3-4 times gave me the reading around (1700-2000) mA and 3(.9-4.1)V and the message said charging...and sometimes it said charging rapidly....and if it didn't work out then I flipped the cable( like I was putting the USB in the wrong direction).....WORKS EVERY TIME
