With my Galaxy S7 when I would use google assistant or say "ok google" it would make a little noise to indicate it was listening. I got my S8 yesterday and set everything up but whenever I try and say okay google it just vibrates instead of making the noise. I've already made sure everything in volume was turned up. Any ideas?
It still makes the same noise when I use the voice to text but not for google

Maybe its just my phone, but I have noticed that if I speak loud into the phone I can hear the vibrator in the ear piece.
Also noticed that sometime if I hit the power button I hear the chime for Google Voice. When I unlock the screen Google Voice comes up.
anyone else notice these issues?
I flashed CLoudy 1.4 on my VZ980 a few days ago, and only today did I go the use Google Now and noticed the "Ok Google" hot word doesn't work. No problem, I tapped on the mic and get the familiar sound like the microphone starts to listen, but then it stops after 2-3 seconds and doesn't hear me at all.
SO I tried installing Open Mic+ to see if that works...and the hotword works flawlessly. With the screen off, I can say "Ok Google" and it turns on and changes to the google now interface and the mic button turns red as if listening and then turns off again.
There must be a check box or download I'm missing, but what? I've went thru the settings in google now and the hotword detection is on, setting all look correct.
I'm thinking it has to be a phone issue more than a ROM issue that is why I am asking here.

I had this happen too on the stock rom, but determined it was g2 xposed causing the issue. Once I disabled long press to launch voice search, this stupid bug stopped. Really annoying, I feel your pain.

Google says its voice search is faster, hears you better in noisy environments
I already turned off Moto Voice. Just to cut out the middle man and possible help with the battery a little.
Hello.
I have a problem that i can't get my head around.
Bixby voice recognition is working fine.
When i use google assistant "let me talk to Todoist" and it doesn't undrestand me, for 4th or 5th time, the bars in the middle (voice level) show that i am "constanly yelling", meaning that it is recording some loud voice and is not undrestanding me.
After this has happened recordings in voice recorder play a loud static noise.
Tried using both samsung and google voice-to-text engines.
Everything is fixed with a restart or making a phonecall.

I have the same issue.
I have the exact same issue as yours. Did you ever have any fix for it yet ?
I have the exact same problem.
Video recording with just white noise yesterday.
Never had the issue before.
And found out others had that problem related to the Google Assistant.
Force closing Google helps out for a while or until you run the Google Assistant again, then the problem is back
Same problem here. Force close Google app resolves it, but 4-5 voice commands later it's the same again. The assistant can't hear what I say. Google assistant is totally unusable on S8 for now, hoping for a fix. I'm investigating the problem but nothing works. If someone know about something we can do, please tell us here!
I have the exact same problem as well...
Happened to me as well. When I opened the Audi Recording app it recorded some disturbing loud white noise. Happened only once, I don't know what the hell it was
I have the exact same problem by using google assistant. Any solutions?
I have Mi Airdots S and to summon the Google Assistant, you double-tap the button on either headphone . If the screen is on and unlocked, everything works as expected. But if the screen is off and you want to talk to the Assistant while the phone is in your pocket (which would be a normal scenario when using headphones), all I get is a notification on the lock screen saying that you can use the Assistant with headphones while the phone is locked.
I've tried using a different pair of wireless headphones, and the result is the same. What I notice is that the microphone activates, but the phone does not receive its input. Which leads me to conclude it is not the fault of the Airdots, but this phone or MIUI 12. I've tried playing with all possible GA and phone settings, but to no avail.
Your help is appreciated.

Thanks for the answer, but that is not the issue I'm having. I don't need to wake up the phone by saying "ok google", I just want it to respond properly when I call for the Assistant using the double-tap on the headphone button.
Any other ideas?
