Maybe its just my phone, but I have noticed that if I speak loud into the phone I can hear the vibrator in the ear piece.
Also noticed that sometime if I hit the power button I hear the chime for Google Voice. When I unlock the screen Google Voice comes up.
anyone else notice these issues?

So, I have my MDA, and when it rings, it rings nice and loud for about 2 seconds, then goes really quiet, has anyone else had this? How do I fix this?
Well I figured this out..................It was because voice command was trying to announce the incoming call as well. I disabled this feature, and all is well.
When I answer my phone or dial someone, I hear my reminder sound three times. (Not through the back speaker though)
Very annoying, because then I don't hear what the other person is saying.
Also sometimes my phone gives a vibrate for no reason.
Is anybody experiencing the same?
Is there a fix for this issue?
Ok so its happened twice today. I was calling someone and it showed it was dialing and connected but i didnt have any sound from the ear speaker or the speaker phone. The 2nd time it happended it apparantly went to voice mail but i didnt hear anything until the voicemail said that i need to leave a longer message. Has anyone else had this problem?
Once connected hold the volume rocker on the side of the phone all the way up, aside from that I have no idea.
yea its wierd i know, i've called my wifes phone 10 times trying to replicate it but cant. but this morning it happened twice within 1 hour. i had to call back and then it seemed to work fine. hopefully its just tmobile being crappy and not my phone.
This is just IMO so there is no fact to what I am going to say. Myself, I think it is a HTC thing. My G1 did that all the time but when I got me a Cliq, I never had that issue again. Now that I have the N1 I have encountered this same problem again. It tends to happen more if you are in an area where is it Edge/GPRS.

I have experienced similar issues....For instance, I called someone today, and I couldn't hear them, it was weird...anyway, I got someones voice mail while calling them and it kept saying it could not hear me to record the message, LOL! I am striking it up to no being familiar enough with the phone or maybe my face hit the hold button or something on the screen, but I found it all strange. It's quite possible there is a bug or something although the touch screen can sometimes be touched by your face or whatever and put the call on hold by accident, etc. etc. Take a look at the on screen options once you make a call, there are many options including a hold button in the upper left hand corner which can easily be touched by your face, ear etc.
this is what the proximity sensor is for. it turns of the screen when it comes near your face.
Hi there everyone.
I am a new user of an HTC Hero.
I have a problem on incoming calls or sms.
I leave the HTC to lock by itself and, when i have an incoming call or sms, only the screen turns on. I can see the number of the dialer who is calling me on the screen but NO ringtone sounds from the phone. The same problem occurs when an sms is received. No ring is sounded by the phone.
I have checked everything concerning the sound preferences and (i believe) that i have not left anything un-touched.
Can anyone please "save" me from madness???
Thanks in advance!
I can't say for sure this is what happened, but humor me for a second and check a few things:
Of course double check that your volume is all the way up.
When you use the volume rocker on the side of the phone, does it beep?
Do you have any music on it? If so, play it without the headphones plugged in. Do you hear the music?
When you turn speakerphone on during a call, do you hear the other person?
Do you hear any of these sounds using headphones? Do you hear people through the earpiece on a call?
If you don't hear any sound from any of the first few bullets, but you do hear things through the headphones and earpiece, it may be the speaker in the back that's broken. Again, this is just one possible cause, but I had it happen to me. I have no idea how to fix it other than to send it back to HTC or attempt to replace it yourself (I don't know how to do this and would not recommend it if you're not comfortable with it!). Thankfully, my phone fixed itself after a few days (well, with a little help, I accidentally dropped it on the floor from a height of about four feet, but again, I wouldn't recommend that!). Anyway, just a thought, hope it at least helps you diagnose the problem.
Anyone else experiencing super low microphone volume when using hangout calls on speakerphone/video calls? The other person i'm calling says they can barely hear me.

yes, very much so. I may have found a weird workaround as this was annoying me for some time. You must leave the call screen up and let the first couple rings happen with speakerphone off. Then switch to speakerphone and do not leave the screen or turn off the call screen until the call is initiated. After that mess that i stumbled upon, i could be heard much better when making a speakerphone call with hangouts. Also, make sure not to cover both the front speakers or the mic in the back. Basically you must hold the phone in your hands as I believe laying it down on either face will obstruct mics.... Obviously a flaw that should be worked out I would hop with software or hangouts updates. I have opened a complaint thread on the google hangouts forums. I suggest you go there and explain that you have the problem too so that it may be looked at a bit more...
Thanks, posted on the Hangout support forum, so one else replied and said they have the same issue as well. Unfortunately though, I can't get your trick to work for me, super low mic volume unless I put my mouth right next to the top speaker grill. Hopefully this gets fixed, I think my wife is tired of seeing my chin during video calls.
I'm experiencing the same problem but with WhatsApp calls. It also happen on normal phone calls where there's no sound coming or going out, have to hang up and try the call again.
Anyone notice the speakers are only good at 100%.. Lower it to 90-80% and I can barely hear them, standing at about 1ft - 1.5ft
No news on this? Renders speaker calls on Hangouts, Viber etc useless.
Also, where on Google Forums did you post?
