I've read a bunch of places this is just under settings but not for my sprint device. Anyone else notice this?
Thanks

Mobile Hotspot / BT Tethering / USB tethering ALL in the Settings/Connections!...
SGS 8+ Australian Vodafone.
Mine is in the Settings Drawer that pops down with the Notifications Drawer. Just drag down the little bar that shows the rest of your quick settings and it's there labeled "Mobile Hotspot" I'd post a pic, but I don't know how to do that, LOL! (newbie here)
Update: Figured out how to add the pic. Look at screenshot.

I am trying to figure out how to remove the sharing preference sort of icon that shows up in the gallery app after you send a picture via the sharing options. It remembers your last used sharing method and puts that icon next to the 3 circle sharing icon. I want to know how to prevent that or remove the last used sharing option because to me it looks cluttered. I circle the icon I am talking about in the attached screenshot.
I've been trying to find a widget that simply toggles the WiFi hotspot from my home screen on my Nexus 6P. I've tried the following:
Adding a Quick Settings widget, but the only option is "Tethering & portable hotspot"
Power Toggles app, but the hotspot toggle button only serves as an indicator, it doesn't actually do anything
Tasker WiFi Tether task, with the action set to Toggle, but it doesn't do anything when you run it
Searching through the 6P forums for other solutions
Everything I've tried has resulted in a dead end. The only solution I've been able to get working is to add the built-in Hotspot to the Quick Settings dropdown. Has anyone been able to find a push button solution from the home screen?
Elixir can do it and has many size widgets, toggles, etc. in Playstore.

I couldn't figure out how to get it to work. I tried both Elixir and Elixir 2. In Elixir 2, I selected "Turn on WiFi Hotspot" from the app, and it didn't have any effect. Also, that functionality is not available as a selection for the Elixir 2 widget.
Hi, I'm only using Elixir 2 widgets. You have to pick a widget & size for home screen, and then fill in the icon toggles and/or apps. Here's a pic of mine 4x2 with 21 icons on bottom. Bluetooth is on and Wi-Fi hotspot is off in this pic....

I'm still having trouble getting this to work. See the attached screenshot. I'm choosing "Wi-Fi AP (Hotspots) toggle". When I press the button from the home screen, it says "Turning on...", but nothing happens. Icon doesn't change, hotspot isn't turned on. My device is rooted, and I gave Elixir SU access.
Not sure, your setup sounds correct & your rooted. Do any other elixir toggles work? Assuming you saved and rebooted...
I don't have a toggle widget, but I have set llama to turn wifi on and off based on location. Turn wifi on when entering home or office. turn off when leaving either place. works perfectly. In the rare event I want wifi somewhere else, i just use quick settings drop down.

Yes, I rebooted, but still no dice. Bluetooth toggle works fine, just the WiFi Hotspot isn't working. I'm on the latest Marshmallow kernel, from Mar 22nd. @lanternca, I'm using "Smart WiFi Toggler" for trusted WiFi detection and turning it off otherwise.
Now that we have root is there a way to hide some of the status bar icons? Like system UI tuner does on the Nexus devices...

This is still only possible with Root, correct?
Been looking around all afternoon, and seems like there was something called System Tuner UI, but was removed on Samsung S7 devices (probably all Sammy phones).
p.s.
I have a AT&T S7 Edge, but I doubt that will affect the answer(s)
Nova will do it.

True. It will do it on your home screens, but not within other apps.

Yeah Xposed requires root
There is an app called Notify Box that I have been using. It groups selected status bar notifications together and puts them in one drop down box that you can then delete or view. It seems to work pretty well.
Just found this in an LG group, "adb shell settings put secure icon_blacklist alarm_clock,bluetooth,mobile" etc. No root required, just a working adb setup and developer options.
Partial list is;
cast
hotspot
bluetooth
zen (do not distrub icon)
alarm_clock (alarm icon)
managed_profile (work profile icon)
wifi
ethernet
mobile (mobile data icon)
airplane
nfc
I'm still looking for the name of the download booster icon

This worked great. I did
Code:
adb shell settings put secure icon_blacklist alarm_clock,nfc,bluetooth
Unfortunately the NFC icon stayed but the alarm clock and bluetooth are gone so anything is a huge improvement. Now I just need to figure out the names for the volte and rcs icons from rooting. I tried
Code:
adb shell settings put secure icon_blacklist alarm_clock,nfc,bluetooth,volte,rcs
but neither went away. Either way thank you.
Hi, I tried that with alarm_clock but unfortunately I got an white square icon stead :silly:
This worked for me to disable the Alarm and Bluetooth icons. Thanks for the share!

Not sure if you figured this out already but the white rectangle icon that appears is actually the "rotate" so add that to your list
nfc for us on Samsung is nfc_on
You can disable the battery icon but still have "show percentage" on in settings so no icon but still charge percentage.
I've been adding and removing frequently but here is my current disable list
Code:
adb shell settings put secure icon_blacklist bluetooth,alarm_clock,rotate,battery,location,nfc_on
Hello,
Were you able to figure out the name of the Data boost icon? I like to have that turned on, I just cant stand seeing the icon.
Thanks,
Z

Hey guys there's been a strange icon in my notification bar that's bugging me a lot I don't know what it is can someone identify what it is?
Is right next to the network name.
It's a circle and a plus sign inside it
Screenshot?
A screenshot will be good.
Although, I suspect it's RCS?
Is Wi-Fi calling enabled? My Wi-Fi icon added a circle with a plus when I enabled it.
It's the data saver indicator. It can be disabled in the mobile data menu in settings.

No it is not a screenshot sign and I can't screenshot it to show you since I'm a new member I can't have links
I'm going to Samsung to see what it is

I see you have edited your original post.
Someone else answered your question. It is the Data Saver feature.

Strange Icon / Circular Bar with plus sign
It is a Data Saver Icon
You can disable/enable it by going to setting > connection > data usage > data saver and click the botton...
This will enable or disable to save data or to restrict data on background of those apps that use data while they are not in use... thanks hope it will help you
Hi all,
I have tried searching Google, but can't find what this icon means, does anyone know? It's in the top right of my top bar.
I have the same settings as before, I think it appeared after an updates. I am running the Oreo beta.

Looks like a data saver icon to me. That's just a guess. Do you have data saver enabled?
Data saver is a 3/4 circle with a plus sign in it.
Background data is disabled.
I think new data saver icon for oreo
I got the same icon and after searching in setting found that if i ON data saving then it appears and if i OFF it then it disappeared so it indicate the data saving is on, its appearing after updating to oreo in S8 Plus
hi,
i have same icon and try to find the location to switch it off.
can somebody tell me where to do it?
i'm on S8 with Oreo CRAP.
thanks!

It's Data Saver
Go to settings... Go to connections... Go to Data Usage... Tap on Data Saver and turn it off. That's it.
Its data saver! I really miss the icon on the controls panel (notification panel) can you help me get it there with an app or something? I had it on LG g6 before, cant find it on the s8 (my phone isn't rooted)
Pull down to view icons
Hold down for a couple of seconds 'only' on the writing saying (mobile data) "not the icon itself!
Turn off data saver.
Triangle will go off.
However when you read about it like I did leaving it on is actualy useful.
Yes it's data saver even on an s9
This icon is because of data saver option when u enable it go to setting _ connection _ data usage _data saver just click data saver if u switch it ON the icon will appear
What I'd like to know is why some of us have a green Avatar while others have a yellow one
I googled "xda legend" and it came back with a forum for some device named legend.
Googled xda icon legend and it told me about chainfire retiring.
Gracious goodness!
Excellent
