I've been trying to find a widget that simply toggles the WiFi hotspot from my home screen on my Nexus 6P. I've tried the following:
Adding a Quick Settings widget, but the only option is "Tethering & portable hotspot"
Power Toggles app, but the hotspot toggle button only serves as an indicator, it doesn't actually do anything
Tasker WiFi Tether task, with the action set to Toggle, but it doesn't do anything when you run it
Searching through the 6P forums for other solutions
Everything I've tried has resulted in a dead end. The only solution I've been able to get working is to add the built-in Hotspot to the Quick Settings dropdown. Has anyone been able to find a push button solution from the home screen?
Elixir can do it and has many size widgets, toggles, etc. in Playstore.

I couldn't figure out how to get it to work. I tried both Elixir and Elixir 2. In Elixir 2, I selected "Turn on WiFi Hotspot" from the app, and it didn't have any effect. Also, that functionality is not available as a selection for the Elixir 2 widget.
Hi, I'm only using Elixir 2 widgets. You have to pick a widget & size for home screen, and then fill in the icon toggles and/or apps. Here's a pic of mine 4x2 with 21 icons on bottom. Bluetooth is on and Wi-Fi hotspot is off in this pic....

I'm still having trouble getting this to work. See the attached screenshot. I'm choosing "Wi-Fi AP (Hotspots) toggle". When I press the button from the home screen, it says "Turning on...", but nothing happens. Icon doesn't change, hotspot isn't turned on. My device is rooted, and I gave Elixir SU access.
Not sure, your setup sounds correct & your rooted. Do any other elixir toggles work? Assuming you saved and rebooted...
I don't have a toggle widget, but I have set llama to turn wifi on and off based on location. Turn wifi on when entering home or office. turn off when leaving either place. works perfectly. In the rare event I want wifi somewhere else, i just use quick settings drop down.

Yes, I rebooted, but still no dice. Bluetooth toggle works fine, just the WiFi Hotspot isn't working. I'm on the latest Marshmallow kernel, from Mar 22nd. @lanternca, I'm using "Smart WiFi Toggler" for trusted WiFi detection and turning it off otherwise.

i know that there isnt a toggle that does 2g/3g but it brings you to the system settings.
now that i have root is there a toggle that just does 2g/3g?
Toggle settings.
That application we spoke of earlier in that other thread has that section built-in on the user interface. There are TWO tabs for various toggle options.
There is one that can adjust the data usage. GPRS, EDGE, and 3G.
EDGE is essentially 2G.
i have the application, but it brings me to the system settings page and requires another key press, i was hoping that maybe with root it is possible to just place a widget on the desktop which toggles between 2g and 2g/3g without having to go into the system settings.
Beautiful Widgets.
If I'm not mistaken I do believe that they offer a little toggle that can do just that.
Double-check that.
They might, if so...it won't come free. However, I have it ported from a website and the weather widget they offer is brilliant.
ive been looking for a widget/toggle that will let you turn off the mobile data in your homescreen instead of going thru lots of menus to turn it off. anyone?
Widgetsoid.
Fully customizable power control widget. Works very well. Check it out.
I use APN on/off Widget. Free download and works on every android device without problems.
I can't get it to work with 4.5.91.
From the Mighty Atrix 4G
I use wigisoid but with data switch paired with a launcher you can change the shortcut icon to whatever you want
sent from my Atrix via XDA premium
I use APN Manager and so far, so good!
Sometimes I need to "reset" my Mobile connection to get full speed from my provider (weired!).
Can't you just use the stock airplane mode toggle widget?

the guy just want to turn off data, not voice
Another vote for Widgetsoid here.
It's awesome, so customisable - any toggle for anything that can be turned on/off/adjusted can be done with it, and it's skinnable to the max.
One of my first downloads for a new phone. 10/10 app.
I am all about Widgetsoid as well. Negates the need for any other toggle widget app or whatever...
However I HAVE noticed that while I'm running Gingerbread, the GPS toggle will open up settings every time I press it. Very annoying, but I hear it's present in any phone on Gingerbread...oh well. Kind of unfortunate that the dev hasn't really seemed to put out any updates for a long time..
widgetsoid only changes the apn but the data is still enabled which i believe means it still drains the battery. correct me if im wrong.
Hi,
is there a way to access the quick settings in any app instead just on the home screen or something similar that shows volume, brightness and wifi? I tested "Sidebar" but it doesn't show whether wifi is on and also changes volume and brightness on touch instead of just showing the bar.
Basically i am looking for something like the "Slider Controls" small app for the Xperia Z plus the ability to turn wifi on/off.
Thank you

Two products you could try "GMD GestureControl" and/or "LMT".
With GMD I defined a customized gesture to bring up the volume overlay while in apps like MX Player allowing me to adjust the volume during playback. With LMT's PIE (see video) , I assigned a toggle to turn autobrightness on/off (Auto Brightness Switch) and a number of notification bar activities. So far with LMT I've only used the PIE overlay feature but it does a heck of a lot more as you can see in the video link.
Give them a test run, between the two products I think you can get what you need. They also work perfectly well with SideBar if you have already purchased that.
Good Luck
Does anyone know of a power control widget (for toggling bluetooth, mobile data, gps etc) that actually switches them off and on without loading the settings screen meaning i still have to turn stuff off and on in there rather than on the home screens
Also, widget would be ideal if it has some transparency on

Does the nexus power control widget not do that? I wanted one on my status bar so I use Power Toggles. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.painless.pc
Can add a widget to your status bar that turns things on/off without going to its settings page. You can also change colours and customize the tabs.

Nope, if you click Mobile Data or Bluetooth, it just loads that particular page in Settings so that you can switch it off and on but thats annoying, just want to toggle on the homescreen ...
Downloading Power Toggles now, thank you!
Power Toggles is the only one that works as it should for the GPS toggle.
There are many others as well such as Notification Toggles, Settings Extended, Exilir 2, Widgetsoid and so on.

Aah so it does! So it works arse about face over the normal quick panel way!

New to android here. I have been trying power toggles and it works pretty well. One toggle that does not work as I'd like is the airplane mode toggle. This sends me to the settings page to manually check the "airplane mode" box. Is there a reason for that or am I doing something wrong?
I have Power Toggles and works great. Only went to menu screen before I rooted; now rooted wifi, airplane, gps, all switch it directly (I don't use bluetooth).
Widgetsoid is the app to go. For free and massive possibilities to make switches.

Yup, it's backwards and doesn't make any sense, BUT it works.

The reason why power toggles opens up the selection page instead of just activating airplane mode is because your phone is not rooted. With the phone being rooted, a widget cannot disable GPS.
So...the solution is to root the phone, (which is easy, but you will lose your data, so back everything up first) and then install power toggles as a system application.
Because power toggles directed me to it, I used this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.systemappmover
It worked like a charm, and it only took me a minute or two, including learning how to use it.
This is just one of the about 10 reasons I've found so far to root the phone, I'm sure you will run across others!
Thanks for the help! It seems like I will need to root to get true toggles without having to go through the settings screen.
Power Toggles ftw

I'm sure this has been asked somewhere before and I did attempt searching for it but couldn't find anything for this specific problem.
My problem is.. How do you add remotes to the Notification Bar and Lock Screen. I have three remotes set up in the application itself, but when I turn on the Lock screen and Notification Bar features, it keeps prompting me to "Add Remote", even after I use Add remote from there.
Anyone else having the same issue or know what I'm doing wrong? Just got this phone so I figured I'd ask.
Looks to be working fine for me.

I just noticed that mine only seems to put remotes from the prebuilt library up in the Lockscreen and Notifications. Any custom remotes seem to be ignored.
I have a bit a different problem with the Quick Remote.
I setup two TVs in the normal "remote" app from LG and they both are working just fine.
But when I use the Quick Remote from the Notification Panel, neither one is working.
Both remotes are there in Quick Remote and I can switch between them, but as said, neither one does work.
Weird.

I have exactly the same problem and cannot for the life of me solve it.
When I lower the notification bar and press the QuickRemote toggle, it wants me to create/add a remote, eventhough I have 3 of them created. It's the same when I tick the option to show QuickRemote in notification bar when connected to my home wifi, the same with the lockscreen widget.
A reboot doesn't help, clearing app's data doesn't help, manually re-adding the remote controls doesn't help. I'm fairly sure it worked fine before I reflashed with stock through the official LG app.

It looks as though Customized Remotes do not show up in the widgets (notification bar or lockscreen). Only remotes added through the TV,VCR,DVD,etc buttons do. Quite a shortsighted problem there..
Is anybody out there who is able to write a (xposed) mod to enable custom remotes for the notification and lockscreen widget?
