So I quickly need help. My friend told me that his phone doesn't charge anymore. We upgraded to Android 7.0, installed elementalx and installed magisk. The worst thing is that he is currently on vacation. He tried 4 cable and 2 chargers. It also doesn't load when the phone is off. We need fast help.

Did it charge at least one time with the current setup or not? The charging functionality won't be disabled by flashing kernel, or install magisk etc.
Maybe the usb port is damaged, full of grime or so.
The phone charged flawlessly until today, yes it charged like 10 times with the current setup.

I just want you guys to help me diagnose the problem.
I was charging my phone yesterday with a cheap car charger.
My phone now produces lots of heat, eats lots of current (discharges quickly) and USB is not working (only charging).
I tried flashing different radios, kernels, stock rom and factory reset - didn't help.
Plugging a phone into Ubuntu PC doesn't add any logs about new USB device in dmesg, even in fastboot mode.
My questions:
1. What can cause SoC to produce heat and to discarge battery very quickly?
2. Is it a failure of a USB board or of the SoC itself?
I have two options on eBay: logic board and usb board.
It would be great to buy a 16GB motherboard instead of my current 8GB, but I want to address the problem with less money spent on it.
I don't know which one to buy.
same problem
Unforunetly I don't have a solution for you, I have been experiencing the same problem since last week. My phone no longer charges in AC mode, I can't connect it to any PC (fastboot doesn't work), and the battery is draining fast (from Phone Idle process). It is warm when the screen is off. I am on Android 4.3, it was working fine up until last week.
I'm about ready to RMA it, however it's interesting that I am not the only one experiencing this problem lately.

I'm not sure what caused it, I have a feeling it's similar to what happened to yours. I use a blackberry car charger in my car, and at work I use a non LG AC charger. So I'm thinking it was the car charger, but the weird thing is it has been working fine with both chargers for 6+ months.

Another thing is that I was installing a faux kernel 3 days ago, but it didn't cause these symptoms instantaneously (instead, it made my nexus super power-efficient), so I don't think that was the cause, too.
P.S. Google's RMA policy doesn't allow to return phones after 15 days, so I think the best choice would be to buy a broken phone and interchange the parts.

I haven't used any custom kernels or ROMs. I am rooted with custom recovery though.
There is a 1 year warranty on the phone, and I am within that 1 year so I hope to be able to get a replacement. This appears to be a hardware problem.
edit: Have you tried taking the battery out? In previous phones when stuff like this would happen I was able to pull the battery out. I tried to open my phone but it's a pain to pry open without breaking something.

No, but I will do this tomorrow. I don't know if this helps.
P.S. Sometimes I get this in dmesg:
Code:
[738145.499853] hub 2-1:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 8
...which is not good either.
Well, I tried removing the battery - that didn't help.
What actually helped, is the following:
1. Bought cheap broken nexus.
2. Exchanged motherboard and usb board with my existing device.
3. Sold broken nexus for cheaper price.
4. ...Profit!
Now my nexus works again, and more than that, it has 16gb instead of 8gb. It wasn't hard.
I'm happy now.
Hello everybody!
A couple of nights ago I updated my ROM to the latest version of OzcanRom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2743877)
I've been using it for a while, but every time there is a new version I usually do a full wipe and install it.
When I installed it everything was ok, it was charging, I went to bed and the phone was at a 100% the next morning. When I came back from work the problem started.
My phone is charging, but Android is not detecting it. Changed the ROM to see if that helped, nothing.
Changed the kernel, tested another battery, another changer, another cable, I even went back to stock FW and nothing.
When I plug it in to the computer, it doesn't detect it but it still charges, however I know is not hardware because download mode work as a charm. It must be something in the software, but I can't figure it out.
Please give me a hand working this out!
PD.: When I say it charges but it doesn't say is charging, is because the percentage in the status bar is increasing after a while, without the little thunder in the battery
So this problem first started when I first flashed boeffia's kernel on top of the official cyanogenmod. The only thing i changed was the kcal settings (I like a little over-saturation). But, since then, my oneplus two charges very slowly no matter what i do. I even set the charging current to 1250 in the app, but still, it was taking almost 5-6 hours to charge fully; and even then, it would not go to 100%, but stay at 92-94 and stop charging altogether. Tried draining the battery, deleting the batterystats file, nothing.
Frustrated, I switched to Resurrection Remix today, a rom that ran perfectly in the past. Plugged the phone into the wall, apps updating over LTE. after a few minutes, I saw the percentage dropping from 36 to 33 and just staying there.
Currently the phone is off, and the battery has only gone up to 12% from 10% in the last 30 minutes.
Anyone ever face this problem? Any help at all would be much appreciated.
P.S. I only flashed the rom and Gapps(mini). nothing extra.
edit- It's been two hours now and the battery's at 18%
edit 2- Battery at 20% after 3 hours. I've turned on the "show battery percentage on lockscreen" in RR. Now I don't know how accurate that is, but it's showing "charging at 1500 mAh/hour max". Now I'm literally pulling my hair at this.
I faced a similar problem after flashing dirty unicorns
Well i solved it by clean flash oxygen os 3.0.2 and changing the charging adapter it solved my problem and i flashed other roms like bean stalk.rr i dint have charging issue anymore

Trying to flash OOS 3.1.0 now... Also, I noticed, after leaving the phone plugged in, the percentage at the charging screen said 43%, but after turning it on, it was just 27%. So it's just a software side problem. Just maybe. It ain't easy getting reliable usb-c cables where I live.
P.S.- did you fully discharge/charge again after flashing? Also, nowadays we can directly flash OOS from CM with the official TWRP, right? (Haven't tried OOS in 6 months)
followup- Flashed OOS 3.1.0. Still not solved. Charging still too slow.
Also, since I have access to engineering mode (#808#), I can see that the phone is charging at an avg of 220mA from the wall.
Is my cable busted?
Currently it's going up 1% an hour(while off)
If the cable is indeed busted, can someone suggest an replacement? Idon't seem to be able to find any in amazon India.

I clean flashed the oos rom. charged it all night when morning it was 100 percent i did a battery calibration which u can find in playstore.i let the battery to drain with normal usage now i changed the charging adapter i think its 2.4amp charger i dont think there is problem with usb cable.its charging at normal speed if screen off will charge fast like 10-100 percent in 2 hrs
Guys stop wasting time flashing go directly to the cable/carger.
Battery calibration is practical useless

Solved. It was the cable. Tried a MI5 cable and "pass" finally showed up in engineering mode.
Have contacted service, will get a replacement later this week
So earlier this week, I was using my phone with Google Maps like usual. I plugged in my vehicle USB port to the phone to save battery. I had +50% on the phone and 1A USB port. So after like 5 minutes of it being plugged in, my phone just turned off. I tried turning it back on and all I get is the boot screen, then AXON shows, and puff... Phone off again. I tried booting into recovery but phone turns off before TWRP finishes loading. Phone doesn't seem to be charging. Tried different cables and charger to charge phone but nothing. No charge light. Seems like battery is dead because the phone turns off during boot and battery not charging.
Nothing seems shorted. Phone been working great for weeks before this. BL unlocked, Debloated stock, TWRP. Any ideas other than sending back for warranty? Luckily I still have my S7 as primary but I had my Axon for primary for my trip for real world daily use. Needles to say, photos and videos are wanted off the phone.

Have you tried going to bootloader mode by holding power and volume down
If the battery has died, then the phone wouldn't turn on is my thinking as everyone you then it on it eats some vattwry
You didn't mention specifically, but have you tried using the factory wall charger & cable and leave charge for like an hour?

Original charger but with certified Micro-b/USB-C cable I've been using for weeks between my S7 and the Axon.
So I left the phone alone for the last few days as I was busy at work and Just didn't feel like messing with it when I got home. I tried to turn the phone on but battery was dead. The quick flash of red led was the indicator trying to power it up. So I used my Samsung charger as it was right there and the original ZTE cable. Phone lights up charging and so I left it as is to go to work. I get home, the green led is lit, so I'm hoping my phone will power up now. Nope, right back to my original issue. Power on phone, gets to Axon logo then eventually turns off or goes black screen. I tried booting into recovery but turns off before fully loading. I try to charge phone again but no led indicator.
So later today, I'm going to try to boot into fastboot and try the new TWRP recovery. Maybe it was enabling r/w on system that caused this. I had downgraded to unlock bootloader and then installed ZADmix. I've been usuing it nonstop for 2 weeks with no issues. I have xposed installed so I know rebooted a few times to get everything working and it never turned off since then.
Really frustrating as that's the phone that had my pictures on it.
Hi @RoninBlackSoul, so what did you end up do ? Have you found any way to bring back the Axon from the dead or sent it back to ZTE for repair / replacement ? Same thing just happened to me, and for me Axon 7 is my primary phone ... if the phone is really dead ... will neve buy another ZTE phone ever !!!

Honestly not sure what did it. After battery drained, plugged it in to charge for 2 or 3 days. Then remembered some note about enabling write access in TWRP (something like that) would cause bootloops. Which is weird, rebooted the phone a few times when it was working.
Any case, I reflahed the recovery/bootstack in EDL and got my phone back. Been working great 5 months now

@RoninBlackSoul, thanks for the feedback.
Got mine working also, my phone was not charging at all. After suddenly rebooting and battery went dead fast, phone was not able to charge for about two days. After which, suddenly started working again, was able to charge and works normally now. This is weird. From my point of view this could be: 1. some sort of auto-protection perhaps or 2. an actual hardware design issue that manifests at random (for some after few weeks or months after purchase). For the 1 point: I was using a non original cable using the original charger, and the USB type c plug was hot at the time the issue occurred. Perhaps due to that heat some protection mechanism manifested that got reset after phone was completely out of juice. Will use only original cable with the Original Fast Charger from now on, as the usb-c plug of the 3rd party cable was fine with a normal charger (non QC3). Hope issue will not manifest again or, Axon 7 will be my last ZTE device ...

I only use good chargers rated for QC or 2/2.4 amps like samsung, anker, aukey. Haven't had issues since. Plus certified type-c cables at all times

My mi note 2 isn't fast charging/charging properly. I bought it new and I've only been using it a couple of days. The first day the phone charged normally, both through quickcharge and regular charging. It drained to about 25% yesterday so I plugged it in whilst I used it, but noticed the percentage was going down even with the charger plugged in. Its now taking around 7 hours to charge fully. I have checked the charger cable, adapter and tried several different ones but I am still having the same problem. I've only had the phone a couple of days so I don't understand why the first charge would work but then the battery is struggling to charge after that.
I'm using miui 8.5.5.0 global stable version and haven't unlocked or installed any custom roms.
Can anyone help?
Your charging port must be dameged bro ,go to aliexpress and find ur phone parts there for cheep get it and install it if u dont know what you are doing take the part to the professionals and ask them to install it , or u cant also ship back the phone tonthe seller and ask him to refund or replacement (tho this is a much costlier affair which i dont recommend you)
P.s lets hope all gets sorted out soon and feel better about the purchase of this beautiful device
Cheers
Is there a way to check if it is the charging port before I go down this route?

Did the phone came with that OS version already installed?
When you plug it in, the lightning icon that's next to the battery icon has a circle around it?
Did you tried a factory reset?

You charge with the original cable and charger , right?
If yes, try doing a factory reset or reflash using MiFlash.

Yes using the supplied cable and charger. I'll try a factory reset at the weekend when I have time to set up the phone again. Hopefully this will sort it as I'm not sure what else to do ?
