Curious if anyone has found a fix for bluetooth track text and back/forward controls not working (e.g. when connected to a car stereo). The phone connects fine and audio works great. It would be nice to get the track text and controls working.
This did work on MM when I first got the phone, but after the (OTA, stock) update to Nougat it no longer worked. I've been waiting patiently hoping one of the incremental updates would fix it, but no joy so far.
Any ideas? Anyone else annoyed by this issue?
Never had trouble with this issue.
~ But my car-stereo is running Android and no WinCe or whatever...
I am having SBH20 Bluetooth Earphones. Play-Pause, Next-Previous is working but the volume adjustment is working unsynchronized with the phone.

I have a pair of Creative WP-350 Bluetooth headphones, and they worked perfectly with my older phone (HTC Legend with Cyanogen Cm7.1), but not so well with my XPeria Arc S with the latest 4.0.2.A.42 firmware.
I can pair them up, play music, and the controls sort of work, but not 100%. I can skip forward back without problem, the pause I have to push and hold for a while for it to work (the manual says it should be an instantanious press, and that's how it used to work with my HTC), and I can't play/resume from the headset controls at all.
I think it's a bug in the Xperia music player, as when I install Winamp, the controls work as expected. However Winamp is quite buggy in other areas (like when the phone is locked, the controls seem to not work.
Anyone got this working correctly, or having similar problems?
Hi all - is anyone here trying to the SHIELD Remote with full android rather than the stock firmware?
I am, and everything works (even volume control and headphone audio output!) except the microphone.
If anyone has any suggestions for how I could go about debugging the microphone input, I would very much appreciate it as it's the last thing preventing my setup from being perfect.
The message I see when I press the voice input button on the remote is "Can't open microphone" (screenshot at end of this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64552147&postcount=14 )
Android is clearly just not recognising it as an audio input device, but I'm not sure why.
My guess would be that the stock firmware has a kernel module loaded or some modification to the Android bluetooth stack to support bi-directional A2DP devices rather than just one way.
Has anyone here ever seen Android working with a bluetooth device with audio input? Perhaps a bluetooth headset with microphone? Does that use A2DP?
Hi there, any progress ? trying to find some solution for the same problem!

Just to answer last part.
Bluetooth headsets, mono as well as stereo, work fine on full android rom. Including microphone.
Btw, it is controlled in phone sections (headset) of the bluetooth stack and not a2dp which is headphone profile.
Google and by extention nvidia, have changed something in handling microphone from the remote, and that change is probably closed source.
Note 5 ?
Thanks for the heads up Idan73, I've actually since figured out the same thing by connecting a friends bluetooth headset to my NSTV (it worked fine).
I'm going to dig into the original nvidia rom and see if it's something simple like a system APK which is handling the remote audio input.
I assume it isn't in the kernel as I believe zulu99's full android ROM is already using the same untouched kernel from nvidia.
Since receiving the March update, I am unable to skip tracks on bluetooth in my car. Used to work perfectly fine before this update. The controls still seem to work on my headphones though. Already tried unpairing and re-pairing the phone with my car system. Also tried clearing the cache in the phone. Nothing seems to be helping.
Anyone else facing this issue? Any way to resolve this?
Negative. Bluetooth control working fine on latest build here.
Bumping it up. Hopefully, there is some solution.
Same issue here. Stock, latest security patch on VZW's network.
I am having the same issue, though it will work when the screen is on. As soon as the screen is off Bluetooth audio controls stop working. This worked in previous releases.
Same issue here since March update. Anyone found a fix?
I had an issue where my bluetooth controls (ie not skipping tracks) stopped working (they worked previously) and a simple reboot fixed it.
When I connect the smartphone with the car via Bluetooth, the music is just intermittent suonds. How do I fix this?
I would like to know this too, anyone?
I started having this same issue after the last/first Tmobile update, before it was fine.
Same thing here. The music would either play through the phone's earpiece or sound like a call playing through the Bluetooth speaker. I read YouMail was a cause so I uninstalled and it still happened I force closed the phone app and it worked normally after that. The issue may definitely be from the T-Mobile update tho.
Yeah been having an issue with volume fading after initial connection, drives me nuts since I use the phone for GPS and music streaming. so I use the v30 for bt music and OnePlus for gps
I'm having an issue with the phone trying to automatically connect to a second Bluetooth device and begin playing music on it. This happened tonight while following behind my wife's car.
Every time we stopped at a light it would connect and I would loose audio in my vehicle and play in hers. No way to stop it connecting other than forget the device or turn off all the functions in that device settings.

I have the T-Mobile 6T and I have this same issue.
It seemed like the previous update fixed it, and was broken by the current update. Anyone know if the international rom has the same problem?

I have converted my TMobile 6t to international and those bugs are fixed.

I'll be updating this on the weekend. Nothing worse than having the beat drop to have the volume drop...

Bluetooth nightmare
I've been having the same issue since I bought my T-Mobile 6T last year and am pulling out my hair trying to figure out how to fix it. I have a "GTA Car Kit" Bluetooth module installed in my '06 Mazda 3 and I use Android Auto with my phone docked in a CD slot mount to give me hands-free text messaging, navigation and music / audiobooks. My phone is also always connected to my android wear watch, so it's technically connected to two Bluetooth devices at once when I use it.
The problem is that audio playback via Pandora, Google Music and my audiobook app that plays on-device mp3's intermittently stutters or skips. It happens immediately sometimes, other times it will work perfectly for half of my commute and then start stuttering every few seconds until I finally just turn off the music/audiobook completely.
I've tried:
Turning bluetooth on and off
Turning my car radio on and off
Changing the developer mode settings for Bluetooth AVRCP Version, Codec, Sample Rate, Playback quality etc.
Clearing storage/cache for Bluetooth
Switching to the international version ROM for the device
Once I got the Oxygen OS v10 update I really though the problem was fixed, but after a few days of working fine it started skipping again.
Does anyone have any idea what's causing this or other things I can try?
[EDIT] I found one more new thing to try on the OnePlus 6T forums https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/bluetooth-stuttering-solved.1076196/
I'll give this a try and report back
Hello everyone. I am enjoying my s10+. I don't have any issues with it except for one. I can't get Bluetooth audio to activate on my jvc double din in my car. The model is kw-340bt. On my pixel 3 xl it works with no problem. My s10+ can connect to the unit but it only lets me make phone calls. When I go to it in Bluetooth settings the audio option is off. When I try to turn it on it attempts to turn on then turns off. It will not come on. I have even reset my unit to factory settings and still the same thing happens. Does anyone have any other options I can try?
Yeah I'm having trouble myself with my ps4 controller, it connects but doesnt do anything! And even if I turn off the bluetooth it doesnt disconnect! What hell Samsung. It's so bad I have to force close / clear and data/ cache on bluetooth system app.
This happened to someone I knew when they used smart switch upgrading from their S5 to the S8+and moved over their settings. Unfortunately a factory reset was all they could find to fix it.
This may sound weird but I had problems getting my TV to connect. I had to go through the new Smartthings app, look for nearby devices. When I tapped on the TV it downloaded something and then I could connect.
Audio track data not updating on Bluetooth car audio head unit
Same. My previous phone (LG V20) was a breeze to connect via Bluetooth to car audio (Subaru Impreza MY15) & happily displayed the track information for my audio collection.
Fast forward to the new S10+ (exynos) & while it connects for audio, track information is only displayed for the first track & remains on-screen without change.
I've gone into developer options, and while I can change the Bluetooth AVRCP Versions from AVRCP 1.3, AVRCP 1.4 (default), AVRCP 1.5 & AVRCP 1.6, the Bluetooth Audio Codec Selection always defaults back to SBC.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Better yet, does anyone have a fix that I could apply???

Every phone that I have ever had always goes back to default with the audio options. I never understood why. They give you options but you can't use the options. Makes no sense.
