Screen off center for anyone? - LG G6 Questions and Answers

It looks like the screen on my new G6 is slightly off to the left. There appears to be a smaller gap to the frame on that side. Anyone else seeing this on theirs? My Pixel XL screen runs all the way to the edges so I have no other reference.

Agreed, i can see it too, specially on the top. Mine doesnt look like that

Get a micrometer and measure it.

Is it possible that the case or the tempered glass protector is creating an illusion?

My OCD would be in overdrive if my phone was like that. I'd exchange it.
Sent from my LG-H872 using Tapatalk

I completely understand, but it's my OCD that's also making me think twice about going for the exchange. I'm sure you are all too aware of the time it takes to get the phone set up just right: apps, sounds, accounts, launcher, behaviors, and all the other crap. I checked images from G6 reviews online and a few seem to match mine. Well hell, I'll wait and see if anyone else sees it on theirs. My eye keeps going to the edges now. Thanks for the feedback. It's nice to know I'm nuts but not alone.

Are you sure it's not your care causing it to appear that way?

LG backup is pretty good. Save to SD and restore to new phone

No, the screen doesn't reach all the way to the bezel and the case is even further out.

Is my screen faulty?

I just got a barely used 6P off of eBay and I noticed straight away that the screen looks really grainy, it's like the screen itself is a matte look. When I scroll up and down, this grainy effect does not move, the text/images move over it, making the images look less sharp IMO. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is this normal? It's almost like a sheet of paper (with the imperfections) Also, one side of the screen is a lot pinker than the other...
I think I can return it to the seller (if they every reply..) If so, should I? I've had multiple 6P's before (a while ago) and I do not remember this at all.
Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, you probably should return it as that kind of graining is indicative of severe burn in. If you view a white screen, does it show a ghost of the nav buttons? If it does take a picture of that, ask the seller what their take is then maybe initiate a return request after contacting them and waiting a bit for a response.

Yes, agreeing with this here. It's burn in mostly due to the AMOLED display. The seller most likely left the screen on "never turn off the display" which resulted in burn in of nav bars. Returning it would be easier than replacing the burned in screen!

Even if you have burn in the scree will never look matte.

Yes I am sure... It was the LCD, the digitizer/outer glass was fine. All I can compare it to is how to white screen on the new iOS notes app looks like, like fake paper. It wasn't right, I have sent it back today. There was no burn in, it was just a very duff LCD

Best phone ever

I've had quite a good few Android phones so far. I was somehow skeptical about 1+ 3T but, nonetheless, I decided to get one (guess was one of last lucky ones able to get the 128GB variant before going out of stock! ).
After having spent 2 days with it I'm absolutely amazed by this beauty! So, I want to share my thoughts.
First time ever I don't feel the compelling need to root it as soon as I get a device (thanks also to Nougat improvements).
With a normal use (mail, twitter, wifi on, some calls) I can easily get a 3% per hour battery consumption. Got around 8%/h while using it as hotspot.
Design is just great, can't really find anything wrong with that, and I love the choice to have the back/recents buttons.
Also fingerprint reader works just fine.
Love the very small bezel around the screen.
Display is perfect, not too much to be said here. I had a Samsung Note 4 until now, with bigger screen and higher resolution so, was a little concerned going backward.
I was wrong. Screen readability is perfect, clear and sharp.
Dual SIM: I only need to use a different SIM very rarely, couple times a year while on holiday, so having to swap my SIM ain't a big issue in the end. I would've preferred to get the chance to add extra memory instead (and that's the reason I went for the 128GB model) or one of those fancy readers where you can use MicroSD OR a 2nd SIM. But, still, that's fine.
Very disappointed with the original curved glass screen protector: waste of money. Ordered the Orzly (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01LWOYYYZ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) off Amazon, I'll update the post once I receive it.
I agree with with the "complaints" about camera quality. That's okish for a phone, but that's actually the only thing I'm missing from the G4.
Not a big deal, for me, anyway. I can still take decent enough pics while on the move!
In short: I'd be more than happy to suggest this device instead of any of the more well-know-brands!
EDIT: WiFi seems to just a wee bit less powerful compared to Note 4. Noting major. Difference is minimal, nothing that would make me change mi overall very positive rating for this device.
Completely agree with everything you said. I'm also very satisfied with it, and I came from a Nexus 5.
There are a couple of things here and there in the software that annoy me, like once the aggressive doze feature is enabled it optimizes every app, instead of letting me select wich apps I want to optimize, but that's just me being picky.
I bought the original curved glass screen protector too, and only after saw that it covered the screen. Even if it's just 0.9mm I won't take it, I gotta see every inch of this beautiful screen. Let us know how the Orzly one works for you.
Also, the sandstone case is awesome. For look and feel, not for protection xD
Agreed. I'm a Samsung guy and skipped the S7 for the 3T and never looked back. That screen protector is fine but this is totally true:
PLEASE NOTE: The Pro-Fit Glass Screen Protector is layered with a visible dot matrix grid over the display area which is essential to achieving full cover screen protector (please see images for more info)

Yes. I know. What I mean is that by default it optimizes every app. In my opinion it would be better if by default it didn't optimize any apps, and then let me select the ones I want optimized.
It's not very practical to have to disable the feature every time you install an app you don't want optimized.

Yup, saw that.
Been looking around for a decent tempered glass screen protector and it looked like the best (or "less worse", maybe?) option.
Any suggestion? I'd really avoid a naked screen

I don't have a decent suggestion because it's the one I'm currently using. It works great but you see the matrix pattern.

Ok, just received mine and installed. That's way better than what I expected reading reviews.
Matrix is barely visible. The rainbow effect is only visible with screen off/full black. So, no big deal.
TBH I don't think Orzly are tempered glass by the way.
Installing it was easy enough thanks for the glue being only around the black border. Not sure if that's going to be a good thing over time.
Not the best screen protectors I've ever tried but, in the end, price seems reasonable so far given the overall quality.

With it only having adhesive around the outer perimeter, do you have any trouble with the glass sliding around or letting in dust? I guess you won't know about the latter until you've used it for longer...any words of wisdom welcomed.

Had the protector on since just a few hrs. I'll now about the dust over the next few days I guess.
So far, I'm more concerned about the fingerprints to be honest... not sure if that's a tactic in order to prevent people seeing the matrix

And rainbow halo is pretty much gone, barely noticeable.
So, overall, quite satisfied.

Dark edges of screen

So when I look at the phone straight on I get ever so faint dark edges where the screen curves that get worse as I tilt the phone. I totally get that because of the curved screen there may be some slight distortion, but one side seems to be more severe than the other, which made me wonder if it should be like that. Also it annoys me that i can still see it when I'm looking at it straight on. It seems to be most noticeable on white screens like Twitter. Is this just me picking faults or has anyone else experienced this?
(p.s it's kind of hard to explain so I hope this makes sense)

Think light going through a prism. Light is going to break up into different colors. I get the feeling that's the effect going on and is what people are taking about. Here you have curved glass that light is moving through.

Exactly, I thought the point of the notch was to increase the screen size but seems like some of the manufacturers don't get this and the bezel is still too big on the bottom. I really don't like this whole notch craziness and hoping it will fade away in the next couple of years...

Props for posting those images , it's nice to see what it's going to look like , although not liking that notch , had high hopes the p3xl too , sad to see though
A massive notch and a chin. That's horrible
I really really hope that the pixel 3xl looks like this.. coz then i will have no temptation to upgrade
On a serious note, this would be one of the dozens of the 'potential' final prototypes. Just look up the video of how one plus went through multiple iterations before getting to the final design. Google is not that stupid to keep such a big notch.
If they took away the bottom speaker and didn't have any chin, then people would complain about no stereo speakers lol. That notch is kinda big tho

Yes totally glass. The top part is glossy and the bottom is matte but it's a single part. This way google tried to conserve the aesthetics of pixel 2 but I think it does'nt add any fonctionality.

Assuming you mean functionality, actually the glass back would allow for wireless charging.
It may also allow new/different features with regards to the newly rumored 'pixel dock'.

Yes the glass panel is probably for wireless charging, but I was talking about the fact that this back panel is seprated in two parts, one glossy in the top and one matte in the bottom(it's hard to see in the picture but it's there). This is esthetically resembling to the pixel 2, but what's the purpose as the whole back panel is made of glass while the back panel of the pixel 2 xl is made of metal and only the top part is glass to allow signals reception.

Im fairly certain, its a single piece of glass, with the matte part being applied, or the glass is etched.
and the whole back needs to be glass as wireless charging wont work through aluminum (pixel 2XL), nor would the wireless charging receptors inside the phone fit in the current glass area, let alone the fact it would be very hard to make a pad that would line up properly if they were in the current glass panel.
was this lost and found at a bar ..lol

I dunno if I would go that far.
The notch simulator in android P has a notch taller than the one in the pics here, though it doesnt look to be as wide. Obviously this doesn't mean the one on the Pixel will be that large, but with google you never know.
In the simulator, the notch is the exact height of the menu bar background.
Well...I'm a bit disappointed as a pixel 2 xl owner. The bezel is so insane...
But where's the dual lens camera? I mean yes the pixel 2 xl takes the best photos still. But the dual lens setup affords a lot more opportunities for shots. Still 4 GB ram - and google expects to sell this for 800-900?
I don't see a huge reason to upgrade yet. But I didn't see a reason to get the pixel 2 last year. So we will see...

A question for a new LCD Display

Hi everybody.
I just broke my phone yesterday and I am looking for some nice quality brand new LCD Display for Essential.
Is anyone here with a screen that has already been changed? I want to know does the new screen provide the same resolution size like is normal for our Display ( I mean 1312x2560ppi) or it is less?
CPU-Z is a good program to see that.
Thanks.

Frankly, no idea, but I think yes... I don't see a lot of prints/smudges on the screen, it stays very clean. Feels very smooth to the touch - better feeling than the screen on my SGS7.
Also don't know if it's real Gorilla Glass (ppl on Amazon were asking). So far, not a single scratch.

Looks like it is oleophobic... The water drop doesn't spread on the glass, and when I tilt the phone and shake it a bit, the drop rolls on the screen intact, without leaving a trail.
