Hello all,
I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G with MIUI 6.2.2.0 Stable Version and root access. Before I had a Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 (inch) and Huawei Mate 7 (6.0 inch), but comparing to these phones everything feels very big on the Redmi Note 4G. It really feels like a phone and not like a tablet (like the Galaxy Mega and Mate 7). Especially browsing is irritating, because of all the scrolling on every page.
So I would like to change my DPI on the Redmi Note 4G, however for some reason the apps Texdroider_DPI and Root DPI Changer from the Play Store are not working. I tried to change the DPI in these apps (before with other phones it worked like a charm), but after a reboot everything stays the same on the Redmi Note 4G.
My questions is, who here has succesfully changed its DPI on the Redmi Note 4G? Also, to what DPI size did you change it and how did you do it?
Thanks in advance!
Use root dpi changer.. Set dpi.. and wait for it to grant superuser access.. Do not reboot..
Once granted.. Go ahead and restart..
@ mazii1000: Thanks for the reply, unfortunately your method also did not work on my Redmi Note 4G.
Strange is also, that when I tried to change the DPI according to this method:

http://forum.miui.co.in/tips-and-tutorials/2216-modifying-dpi-miui-v5-6-a.html
I can't find the line 'ro.sf.lcd_density=' in my 'build.prop' in the System folder. I checked the 'build.prop'-file 5 times, but the line LCD Density simply isn't there?
Well, I just flashed MIUI 5 back on the Note, but also in MIUI 5 the line 'ro.sf.lcd_density=' does not exist in System folder > build.prop
I'm starting to wonder if this line exists in MIUI for the Note 4G? Could someone check his/her Redmi Note 4G and try to change the DPI?
Many thanks!

You can modify the build.prop with editor. Can get free on google play store.
Named Build.Prop Editor. ( I can not add link in post as I'm new member )
And then simply add "ro.sf.lcd_density=###" and save.
Have fun.

Hi,
I read a lot in this forum and in other sites about the possibility to enable Camera2API on our fantastic MINote3 phone but, at the end, I don't understand if is possible to enable che Camera2API WITHOUT root the device. Can someone give me a final answer about this question ?
PS
If the answere is "yes, is possible without root", then other questions are:
is ok this method https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/how-to/tool-google-camera-root-magisk-enable-t3747585/page10 (see post 98) or is only ok for MI A1 ? Are there other methods ?

If you can install TWRP you can enable it without rooting your system, as TWRP has root priveliges while it is running.
Here you can find a zip file to flash in TWRP to enable it.
I have used it.

Yes, I have done it myself on Mi Note 3 running the latest Xiaomi.eu weekly 8.4.26.
I have also done it on Mi Max Prime, Mi Mix, and Mi Note 2.
If you had read the whole thread you would have seen my posts.

Thank you soo much for all your informations.
Only one question: is necessary to flash the twrp on the device or is enough to load the twrp via the command "fastboot boot twrp.img" ?

It "should" work to only boot into TWRP without flashing it.
That is if you do not want to install TWRP, just use it once.
The next time you reboot, your new TWRP will be gone again.
I have not tried this myself.
I will try the procedure where I only boot twrp (without flash it) then will try to enable camera2api parameters on built.prop and also change permission of this file (with su permission).
I will update this thread with a feedback about the operation
Hi,
finally I enable Camera2API on Mi Note 3 (with last official global rom) WITHOUT root the device. These are my tasks:
- unlock the bootloader (with MI official utility) and lost all my data
- flash TWRP Red Wolf then run it and, to give the right access to the partitions, I wipe and format my device from the TWRP menu and reboot the device
- Then, from TWRP, I install "HZQ_MIUI_Camera_Mod_CAMERA2_API_170824.zip"
Thanks Cobben for the good informations
PS
Now I use GCam5.1.018-Arnova8G2-V1.2.apk and run very well. The quality of the night shoots is better a lot respect xiaomi default camera
I add that with gcam the videos are better that xiaomi cam:
- less nois
- better color
- much details
Then, at the end, gcam become the main camera app on my device (and I will use xiaomi cam only for boken effect or camera zoom)

Hi, I installed the Xiaomi.eu rom and installed also the Google camera (v.7.9.4 - everything is working correctly even the Slow motion). I can say that the Miui camera is on par with Google camera or a level down. The Miui camera uses the algorithm in the open-source Gcam app. You can try the Xiaomi.eu rom which is based on China rom - it is great.
In my case instead I use the last global 9.5.3.0 and gcam is the best
Mi 6x and MI A2 have same hardware but when we flash mi 6x MIUI rom to Mi A2 camera does not works properly(Enhance low light Option makes it stop ) But the camera modules are identical , basically I am talking about the global variant . Here is the twist xiaomi implemented same camera module but they set some hidden code number in the hardware module so that these module can be matched with our IMEI and The image processing system can understand that it is Mi 6x or mi A2 !! The idea is not quite enough to stop us !!!! WTF is the need of this , It took 10 days to figure it out .
So every thing is already fixed in every miui rom nothing to patch or replace. We can easily bypass or fool the image processing system.
Mi 6X's Code name is "wayne" we can change it "whyred" it is the code name of redmi note 5.
What we need
- Root
- A root file manager[ Xplore, Ex ]
- A working Brain.
steps
-Go to "System/etc/device_features"
-Rename "wayne.xml" to "whyred.xml"
-Now Open System/build.prop
-Now find out the line "ro.product.device=wayne"
-Change it to "ro.product.device=whyred"
-Now make a reboot
Yes you got a fully working camera!!!

Hello,
I converted to 6X from A2. On MIUI 9, the camera worked, I never tried MIUI 10. Is the problem only with MIUI 10? I have global, 4/64 variant.
Thanks.
Is front camera working?

Bro, who are you anyway to say this? I don't think you should say this though. This is wrong.
My A2 Front camera not working. I Flashed Stock Firmware by Mi Flash Tool and also Manually by CMD. but front camera not working. Sometime workes for 1 5-30 minute. so how to fix it?
How to Root A2 Converted to Mi6X Wayne (MIUI10) ?
So, I've tried so many Pixel Camera ports for my latest Samsung Galaxy A9, but none of it seems to work. I've literally installed and tried more than 30-40 ports but none of them worked. They install properly but force close as soon as I open the app. I really want to see if using the Pixel Camera app will increase the picture quality.
Details about device:
OS: Android 8.0
Processor: SD660
RAM: 8GB
Any more needed information I'm happy to share

You need to enable api2 on build.prop to make it work

First you need root access to edit build.prop
Then add this line to file:
persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1
(Maybe the line is there but with =0, just replace 0 for 1)
Then save and reboot.
Is the first Samsung from mew models witch i hear that needs root....?
Seems like we won't be able to make GCam work until we won't get Android 10 update, I tried many many many many ways of getting GCam work, I changed build.prop, tried over 50+ camera's, executed many commands on ADB, none of it works for us now. So... Let's wait for Andoird 10.
I don't think you can either or you have found something that works for us (I think buying this device has been the worst and expensive investment)
Read the title and share apks if you have ,plz
Impossible, already tried. Even if you install the apk it doesn't work, I think you should look for the missing files text as well.
