I am running the Verizon S7e with the rooted Nougat from post #68 here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-s7-edge/how-to/root-method-nougat-t3566978/page7
After completing this, I noticed a couple issues with my sound.
On the handset, while on speaker, the volume is so low you can not hear the caller. Talking with the speaker off is just fine. Music and notifications are fine.
While connected to the Bluetooth in my car, When I am on a call the volume always is extremely low. I can turn the volume up to hear the caller, but the vol must be turned all the way up. Notifications and music a a little lower then they used to be but still good.
This only started after updating to nougat from the above mentioned post. I have searched and found a few suggestions, none of which has worked for me. I have tried:
deleting the Bluetooth connections and reconnect... nothing
Clearing app data for bluetooth and phone.... nothing
In recovery, cleared cache.... nothing
Factory reset.... nothing
The installation of the nougat went flawlessly with no errors..
Any thoughts, ideas and suggestions would be appreciated.
When you turn the volume all the way up, there are some issues. Try having the volume just one step down from maximum.

That did not fix it. It is just as low.

Nine time out of 10, the phone rings and plays the ring tone but, every now and then, it rings but with no sound as if the phone's volume had been muted. (have not tried it with a different ringtone yet...).
Not done anything different with the phone apart from connecting my plantronic voyager pro +. Even with headset connected, you can still here the phone ring independently.
Have looked around on the site and it would seem that the only other experience of this is with the headphone socket which, in this instance is irrelevant.
Anyone got any ideas??
whoops, can a mod please move this thread to the general section.
Allen, a while back I was running in to an issue where my phone would lose all sound, I would only notice when a phone call would come in and I happened to notice the flashing light. It turns out that for some reason if I reboot my phone with the headset still plugged in the phone would lose its sound until I unplugged the headphones and rebooted again. I think the problem has since been resolved but I'm still in the habit of unlpugging my headphones before I reboot. By any chance are you rebooting before you notice this happening?
Not sure what happened. Just one day last week my in-call volume is really low. On speaker, regular and with headset. Turning up all volume sliders does nothing. Ideas?
I had this problem with my new S5 as well. Rebooting it usually fixed the problem. Also wiping the cache. I also had a weird brief problem where I couldn't send/receive text messages from one of my contacts. I factory reset my phone, wiped the cache and so far the two problems went away (for now, hopefully for good). Definitely an issue but not everyone's getting it hopefully an update from Samsung or Verizon will eventually permafix.

I have fixed it by pulling the battery too.
Hi all,
Does anyone else have this problem, using ZTE's Android 5.02, in which the caller's voice level is too low? I can barely hear a person's voice when I answer/call them. But they clearly hear me.
I've tried a few apps that boost volume, but none of them work.
All other things, ringtone, apps, media, music etc. - the volume is fine.
ZTE had an auto update yesterday, system update, completely fixed the volume for me! Everything is normal and working well now
I have problem with wifi, can't connect! (IP adress = 0.0.0.0) plzzz help!!!

What update are you talking about? I'm also having the "low volume" issue.
thanks
edit: tried the b10 update again and still low volume. So pls help
I have the same problem. The in-call volume gets turned way down for some reason when you answer/make a call.
i don't know why, possibly a bug?
when you next make/receive a call...once connected, take the phone away from your ear & look at it.
press the volume up button and you'll see its at about 25%.
pain in the arse

Hi, turn off the "Dual microphone" setting in the dialer app. This solves the problem.

Mainly all Viper4Android issues from what I can tell.
These are probably linked to one solution, but being able to fix these problems will be greatly appreciated.
1. As I turn on my phone and continue to plug in my headphones, the phone acts as if there are no headphones plugged, which in then returns me restarting the phone and SOMETIMES it will come up with the headset icon in the statusbar which normally means it is going to work.
2. As in the previous problem I said 'normally means it is going to work' SOMETIMES no sound plays at all from anything, not from speakers not from headphones.
3. Bluetooth. When I turn on and use a Bluetooth speaker, I hear a slight pop from the speaker as it connects and nothing happens then when proceeding to turn off Bluetooth knowing it's not going to work, no audio happens at all leading to me rebooting the phone.
4. And most of all the most annoying thing in somewhat having a working daily driver, whenever in my pocket or FACE UP in a DARK ROOM, the phone will just switch off. Nothing else happens I can't bring it back at all, I just have to hard reset (hold the power button for 20 seconds until it turns back on)
5. (Edit) Also half the time my microphone doesn't work. Leading to me needing to restart my phone.
My Phone:
OnePlus 3t
OOS Beta 10 (7.1.1)
Magisk (13.3)
Viper4Android
"Allow Mediaserver/Audioserver
Emoji One
OOS call recording enabler
ATM I have the Xposed framework because it is pretty stable, but these problems we're here before Xposed framework, so that isn't the issue
Anyone being able to help with these problems will be greatly appreciated
If you need any logcats or whatever just let me know how to do them, and I'll do it for you.
Thank you so much! ~Ryan
Everyone,
We have TWO PH-1 phones. Both are still on Android Pie awaiting a little more maturity and for a couple of business related apps to catch up.
Now for the issue:
One of our phones has developed an unusual condition. When listening to a telephone call, the volume is VERY low even with the volume turned all the way up.
The phone is used to listen to podcasts and YouTube videos as well. These all have great volume and the volume cannot be turned all the way up.
Any suggestions? I am at a loss..
Thanks for all suggestions and guidance!

Nope, can't say I've bumped into this one [emoji16]
What I would do is:
1) clear cache and data for the phone app
If that doesn't work:
2) clear the phone's cache (TWRP or fastboot)
If that doesn't work:
3) reboot to safe mode and see if the problem persists. If things are done in safe mode, but returns after restarting normally, then there's a third party app interfering.
Booting to safe mode tends to reset system settings on the next normal boot. That's why it's third in my list.
