Whats the Most stable ROM for Daily driver? - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm currently on Lineage OS 14.xx but a few things are making me want to change. Speakerphone not working (the other person on the call hears echo and static), the call volume is too low to hear in a loud environment, and no call waiting.
I have also tried Slim6 and Slim 7 with the same results on speaker phone.
I love the Stock OS but can't deal with the crappy Bluetooth connection.. it will randomly disconnect or not connect at all. I don't need to customize it, I just want **** to work.
What do you all think is the best daily driver out there?

for marshmallow trupure, for nougat any gsr rom ex. tesla, validus, tipsy. also dirty unicorns and resurrection remix are okay

Stock means stable. Custom means hit and miss. It's also a subjective matter. I installed roms that people rated stable but they were everything but stable. It's your choice. I never had problems with BT but I know many people do. Good luck in your BT quest.

Lineage vs Bad Boyz?

I'm going to take the plunge and try a new ROM, but I was wondering if people here had tried these or another and could recommend their favourite? Anything to keep in mind when going to say Lineage over stock? Lineage has the speaker bug still but does the DAC still work? Any bugs in Bad Boyz?
AFAIK the DAC still functions properly. Flash Viper4Arise and limit output for better speaker quality.
My personal favorite ROM is Ressurection Remix. It has good customisation, reasonably stable, and the battery is good. Also has Magisk with Xposed built in, also has substratum built in (if you're into that stuff).
(If you need links, let me know)
RR remix with Custom kernel AX7 and Viper4arise . Works perfect for me
Lineage while great was not very stable. Since 7.1.1 came out for our phone officially I reverted to stock.
RR? I'll check that out!
The reason I asked about Lineage was because Reddit was talking about amazing it was when it launched, touting improvements everywhere and really making the phone amazing.
RR? I'll check that out!

If you haven't tried our RR yet, I think you should. Definitely more stable with lots of amazing customization. As @Cyberwolf2 mentioned, coupling RR with AX7 kernel is seriously good business. Much more robust and stable than stock, although I miss the near-perfect audio from stock D:
Bad boyz rom is the best specially 7.1.1 it comes with wifi calling wich is awesome
RR is very nice, but I couldn't stand the sound issue. There are a few other missing features compared to stock, but they are relatively minor compared to what you get. Overall, my pick is bad boyz, especially now that we have 7.1.1. Everything will just work, and I really like Magisk.
Sound is crucial for me. I didn't buy this phone to make it sound worse (on headphones!). So RR is out for me.
Does Bad Boyz have the DAC working?

Bad boys is a stock rom. Helps to read the thread and be informed.
I like the Badboy ROM but can't stand that ZTE still has some sort of app killing going on. I set the right parameters in power management and still the app closes. The same app works perfect in LineageOS ROMs but keeps getting closed in the stock ROM.
Oh yeah the stock app killer is annoying. Does it still happen on 7.1? It hasn't happened to me for several weeks so I forgot about it. I wonder if it stopped happening when I flashed the apk profile Zhana balanced. Try that and see if it resolves the problem. I get fantastic battery life with it too.
The app killer started playing up really bad for me, then I factory reset after the 7 update and it's been fine ever since. Same for 7.1.
It looks like I'll be trying Bad Boyz soon then!
I installed LineageOS the first day it was released. It's very nice and, for me, very stable. Never experienced any crashes or freezes, lags or anything. It's a also much lighter on the battery, I get awesome SOT with it. Switched to RR a few weeks ago and I found it to be even more advanced. There's just so many settings. RR seemed just as stable as LOS.
Yesterday, I tried dual booting Bad Boyz (primary) with RR (secundary) but I couldn't set the RR rom as secundary once I booted in it...
For now, I'm running Bad Boyz. I liked the Aroma installer: select apps, launcher and dpi to be installed. I installed it because I really couldn't miss the awesome audio experience on stock-based ROMs anymore. Viper4Arise and other tricks help a little bit, but really don't come even close to the stock sound.
Yeah stock sound/DAC is a deal breaker for me. I can't fathom why you'd even have the Axon 7 and then get rid of the DAC!
Are you using Viper on Bad Boyz? I've always used Viper, I imagine it coupled with the DAC sounds pretty incredible right?

VS995, what's your favorite rom and why?

So I've been on WETA since it dropped for our Verizon phones.. I really think it's the most complete ROM and am always hesitant to even try anything else.. I like the concept of the AOSP ROM's but I don't like the things that don't work, such as low audio or the second screen.. Those two things I use all the time so it wouldn't make sense to sacrifice those.. I also like 3minit battery mod, and I don't think AOSP has that yet.. Anyways, just seein what you guys use and why you use it..
Thanks!
I am currently using Resurrection Remix. I was on WETA but battery life was pretty bad for me. With RR I get battery Life on par with my iPhone 7 plus.

how bad is the low audio in video recordings..?? I haven't tried a Lineage based rom yet but I was thinking about testing it out..
I use video recordings all the time for my car and stuff so it's pretty important to be able to hear the audio in my recordings..
On WETA right now and it has it's quirks but liking it so far. Would like to try MEGArom but I've read that it has issues with WiFi calling and I havent researched enough into it yet to see if there is a workaround. Lineage and other AOSP stuff doesnt interest me as you lose access to some of the unique features of the V20.
I'm on Tilde's ROM, great battery life, smooth like butter
No complaints so far.

ROM comparison -NucleaRom vs ResurrectionRemix vs AOSP Extended vs others

Hey there Axon 7 owners!
I am currently very interested how different CustomRoms for the Axon 7 compare to each other, but I don`t have the time to flash all of them at the moment...
So I would love to hear YOUR experiences you have made with different CustomRoms on your device! I`m mostly interested in:
- Stability (possible daily driver on my main phone)
- Support (community, defs, QAs)
- Batterylife
- Sound
- Performance
- Updates? (OTA?, regularly? , etc)
- "Standard features (phone, GPS, bluetooth ...) working or not?
- Advanced features (Substratum (Customization), etc.)
- What do you love?
- What do you hate?
- Would you recommend it?
- Anything else you`d like to share I`ll happily read any information!!
As I would love to have a Rom which is able to run Substratum well, I`m mostly interested in Roms like RR, NucleaRom, AOSPextended .... feel free to add more to the list and also feel invited to write of whichever Rom you are using, whether or not it is supporting Substratum.
I will start with my personal experience:
LineageOS (https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/unofficial-lineageos-14-1-zte-axon-7-t3545679):
Overall I was pretty happy with this ROM
Was stable enough for me (a random reboot every 2 to 3 days)
I think it`s definitly the most supported ROM (huge community and very active devs...), you usually get help pretty fast, whenever you need it! (thanks guys)
Batterylife wasn`t extraordinary, but it got me through the day, which is kinda enough... but I`d love more.
Sound was pretty good, ever since the speaker-fix, I personally liked the AudioFX-App. I`m not sure if LOS takes full advantage of the DAC though.
Performance was good, only thing bothering me: sometimes apps disappeared off my recents
Updates worked really well, ever after starting to use LineageDownloader (I do recommend this app when using LOS)! Very frequent updates (weekly!) that`s how I like it
Had no issues with calls and every other "normal" task I`d throw at my phone
Substratum is sadly not supported, which made me move on other than that LineageOS doesn`t have as many special features I`m aware of, it`s clean, stable but not the most customizable
I loved the barebone google approach with very small addons.
I hated nothing really, but overall I kinda want more possibilities to customize my phone
I would personally recommend it to everyone who wants a working alternative to Stock Axon7 Rom and who doesn`t need all that many crazy options, but an overall very different and in my opinion preferable look and feel (when compared to stock MiFavor) I would also recommend it to everyone starting to experiment with customRoms.
NucleaROM (https://forum.xda-developers.com/ax...uclearom-radioactive-kernel-t3586179/page58):
So I moved to this puppy because I really wanted to try out an all Black SubstratumTheme, and see what else a ROM might have to offer.... (and cuz it was recommended to me by a very nice guy (I don`t mind mentioning the name, but I don`t dare to )
Stability is great, as long as my device`s screen is turned on. But whenever my screen turns off, I get an immediate reboot, which is very annoying and makes it kinda not suited to be used as a daily driver.
However the Support is pretty good for a (compared to LOS for example) very small Dev-Team and community! I posted my issue with NucleaROM and the Dev responded very quickly telling me that it will be adressed with the next update -> props for that! However especially the community support is of course inferior to LOS (since far less people know and Use NucleaROM).
So far I can`t really do real life battery tests, since I`m currently using my phone with screen on for hours to then turn it off completely and reboot it when I need it again (to avoid the bug mentioned above). But I feel like Batterylife with an all black substratum theme on AMOLED is quite nice!
Sound is awesome (for me) probably the same as on LOS (but it feels a bit better to me :`) )
Performance is good so far as well.... I flashed the rom and didn`t notice the reboot-bug for over 3 hours, since everything was running so well I didn`t even turn off my screen and no random reboots happened in that time.... but when I wanted to sleep the reboot madness (I turned the screen off) started ^^ but when the screen is on, I`m very pleased with the performance!
Updates don`t look as good on this ROM. There is no OTA support and updates don`t seem to come that frequently (which is very understandable if you take the small dev team in account, which are doing all the work mainly in their freetime!!) but if you want weekly updates and OTAs then this won`t be the ROM for you probably.
Standard features seem to mostly work, apart from phone calls :/ (since when I hold the phone to my ear -> the screen turns off -> reboot ^^) and when I`m trying to use the speakers of the phone I`m having issues hearing the other person... so sometimes it works, but only after turning it on and off for a seemingly random amount of time...
Special features: this is definitely a huge stepup from LOS (this ROM includes pretty much everything I missed so far on LOS) Substratum is ther and working very well for me, I love the additional settings and options this ROM gives and even though it`s not important I absolutely dig the Boot-animation for some reason!
I love the feel, options and smoothness of this ROM!
I hate the reboot-bug (will update as soon as it is fixed!) and the calling issues.
For now I can`t recommend it as a daily driver, but if you are willing to experiment and either don`t depend that much on your phone or have a second one, than you could or should give this ROM a try and find out if it`s also as appealing to you as it is for me! You should definitly follow the development of this ROM though, since I feel like it has a whole lot of potential!! Fingers crossed I can use it as my daily soon!
I`m very interested in different or the same experiences whith this ROM!
Let the sharing and caring beginn!

I'll keep it as short as possible, best first worst last. (comparably, by my opinion only don't get offended please)
- Stability (possible daily driver on my main phone): LOS, RR, Aosp Ex, Nuclear
- Support (community, defs, QAs): LOS, RR, Aosp Ex, Nuclear
- Batterylife: LOS tie with RR, Nuclear, Dunno about Aosp Ex, didn't use it enough
- Sound: Around the same all of them.
- Performance: Nuclear, Aosp Ex, LOS-RR tie
- Updates? (OTA?, regularly? , etc): LOS, RR, Aosp Ex, Nuclear
- "Standard features (phone, GPS, bluetooth ...) working or not?: In all of them almost anything works but the infamous speakerphone bug
- Advanced features (Substratum (Customization), etc.): RR, Aosp Ex, Nuclear, LOS
- What do you love? LOS and RR constant updates, Nuclear snappiness, Aosp Ex all round experience.
- What do you hate? LOS simpleness, Nuclear's lack of updates
- Would you recommend it? I'd recommend RR since it's very balanced and steadily updated
- Anything else you`d like to share I`ll happily read any information!! We need more kernels, I'm working on building one myself so I don't beg others but I lack the skill and have very litle to no help on doing it.

Are you recommending official RR or the unofficial one being around on xda for a while? And you don`t recommend AOSP Extended?

I personally use the unofficial one since it's getting updated daily, and I can update whenever I feel like it.
You should ask someone else about AOSP extended I don't have much experience with it.
I just recommended RR because I had been using it on many devices I owned flawlessly and it's one of the most balanced and complete (if not the most balanced and complete) ROM out there.
I only use aosp extended and LOS, both are decent, aosp I think have better battery life, and better performance overall, no bugs I can find, the only problem is for me the camera app, in all customs, quality sucks, are uncomfortable, and flashable stock dont work as in stock rom, so, I use stock rom...
but in general, If you are not a camera dependant user, aosp extended is an excellent rom, better than stock, with better battery life.
I noticed stock drains a lot of battery with low signal, the others dont do it
stock have 2 bugs that any other dont... (phone wakes up with proximity covered / whatsapp reports online with app in background)
Im not a fan of cellphone photos, for that I use a real reflex camera, but I use a lot for record work to do, tons of videos driving in the car to budget works in the field and city, so I need a good camera to do this... I pass one time for the site and then review any time in the video... customs roms get worse video

Which Custom ROM on Axon7 do You prefer and why?

Simple Question. Got Nuclearom on my phone and am quite happy with it. But I am thinking of switching to DarkRom, Candy or AOSPX. What were you experiences, which performed best etc?
For the g model dark ROM does a good job with the Los thread modem, no call bug, viper works and the delta updates are a great feature too. Battery life is good too.
No lags !!!

Nuclea. all of the others had performance problems not even fixable with a custom kernel. Some (Lineage, RR) had terrible GPU handling when I used them, but that was like 5 or 6 months ago, so maybe they ironed that out. Thing is, radioactive kernel has a very nicely tweaked governor (when it doesn't break your touchscreen, that is )
I'd say you should backup your current install on an SD card if you want to try something else, because you might as well want to go back. Most other custom ROMs are carbon copies of each other for some reason. For instance, RR looks like AICP, Nuclea like those but with less tweaks... and the difference is mostly the maintainer and the name (usually even the 'goal' of the ROM is the same, to "provide with the best tweakability and functionality while keeping performance best" or something on the lines).

Feel you man, Tried Carbon and RR before Nuclea and got disappointed, very slow and buggy in comparison. But DarkPixel looks promising and people are reporting good speeds and more/better features.
Is someone around here who tested DarkPixel with Radioactive Kernel? Or did some other kernel perform better? Or might it even be the best to stick with the Kernel of the ROM? So many options, so few differences :/

No, not necessary, the kernel that comes with rom does perform absolutely fine in my eyes. Only modded a bit with kernel auditor, read ahead, no big changes. Viper aroma 2.94 and lawnchair as launcher, just using the black ui, no substratum. The rom is smooth, lagfree and not overloaded with features. For smooth browsing I use the chromium swe
here from xda. Magisk 14 with unified hosts just work fine.
No saftey pass issue.
This are all personal choices of course, but it gives me a good performance.
Overall I find there's very little differences between all the lineage based roms. I use aokp with llama kernel but I may switch again if I can bothered. I use war mod too.
Used all of those ROMs for some time and finally settled with DarkRom. It is stable, fast, got its own color engine, so I replaced substratum with daily issues and never ending updates. Delta updates is another plus. I "customized" it by adding viper4android, Omniswitch and Phonograph music player and that's it. I play with the kernel, but return to the built in one, which is unbeatable smooth.

Best Rom

Guys i want a stable rom with good sound quality and no bugs or little bugs on it i use PE right now but i want a stable one with no headphones problem and good sound and supported by the developer, so any ideas ??*
The best choise is stock rom.
The "Best Rom" is a thing that varies from Person to Person. If you want the least issues go with Official Global or Stable xiaomi.eu.
I use Mokee and i'm extremely happy with it. No problems for me.
How's the incall , notification and ringtone volumes? On all roms i have tried so far the levels were abysmally low.
Using the stoke or other custom roms, i can barely hear the phone ringing on the street, when i am making a phone call whilst on the street i can barely hear the other guy. Receiving text messages, no chance to hear the notification sounds.

I L.O.L-ed so hard I spilled coffee on my keyboard.
You probably either never used the stok rom or you never tried the alternatives out there.
Let's just say, the Devs really dropped the ball on this one and despite of our feedback we sent day in day out they were never interested in actually solving anything.
The stock rom is not the best choice.

Choice for the best rom is the stock one
I only have experience with stock, xiaomi.eu, lineage an pixel experience (the last two from letsmakecakes).
In my opinion the best one of those It's stock, but I think in maybe a month or less pixel experience will be much more stable and with exFAT suupor wich is very important to me.
Before MIUI 11 my favorite was xiaomi.eu but since 11 update y feel the ROM slow and buggy (no bold font is a deal breaker for me).
Lineage was good but never that stable and with some bugs.
In the end, stock always give me a much stable and round experience, but I have faith in the new maintainer of Pixel experience, maybe I will change to that permantly when he add exFAT support.
I think that xiaomi.eu is stable enough for daily use.
Custom ROM's are great with customization and performance but, i experienced a lot of issues with Proximity sensor
I want to ditch stock Global, because the idle battery drain is just too much. Even after factory reset with nothing yet installed, or after optimalisations and/or in airplane mode 2% an hour. Battery info in settings and Gsam showing no things out of the ordinairy. But all the bug reports of any custom rom also too much. Xiaomi.eu since MIUI 11 nothing but complaints. So much had it with buggy Android firmware whether it is official stock or custom. Have better things to do in life after work and familiy obligations than fix Android bs and test firmware.
(Sorry fot this rant, just so fed up right now).
