[ALE-L21] I need help with unlimited wifi tethering please - P8lite Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!
First of all please excuse me if I asked this question in the wrong place.
My problem is that I live in a town in the UK where the broadband is so bad that it doesn't go over 200 kb/s downloading so I bought an unlimited data plan from Three with 30Gb tethering allowance. I have a weak 4g signal here with speeds upto on a clear day 5Mb/s.
Now that 30Gb turned out to be not enough so I would like to get it to be unlimited. I tried many apps from the app store but only 1-2 works but only via USB and I would need it to be working with the WIFI.(I bought foxfi but it only works via usb not wifi)
Does anyone know a way so that I can get unlimited tethering allowance with three on my p8 lite via wifi?
Thank you,

T-Mobile $29.99 plan with Laptop?

I have the T-Mobile MDA and thinking of getting their $29.99 unlimited internet plan. Can it use my phone as a modem with this plan on my laptop to get on the net?
sure a google for "xda as modem pdf"
gave this
http://www.my-xda.com/xda2i_spec.html
but it may be flatrate but that dont change the fact that
it's soo slow it's close to useless imho
You can use your phone as a modem with settings you can get over the internet. However at 60 to 130 kbps, its pretty slow.
I was with Verizon where I could hook up much higher speeds.
One good thing about T-mobile is that with the $29.99 plan, you can use their Hot Spots. If your laptop has WiFi, you can hook up directly at broadband speeds without the phone. Software and instructions are available at their website. This is not bad as their are hotspots in all FedEx/Kinkos, Starbucks, and many hotels. In Germany, the hotspots are everywhere.
Hookng up your laptop via a DUN (Dial Up Networking) connection with TMO works if you're in a pinch but it's slow. If you're going to hook up often, I'd go verizion with an HTC Apache (xv6700). The data plan will cost you about $49 per month.

tethering

Is there a way to share my 3g connexion with my lapto without AT&T charging me extras for the service?
I use the internet Sharing app and make it connect through MediaNet and i've been doing this for the past couple months and haven't seen extra charges on my bill.
Now i am subscribed to the 39.99 umlimitted data plan, but once i went in to ask questions about another line i have on my family plan and the rep asked why my data usage was so high.. He told me that i should be on the pda connect plan and if my data usage continues to be that high they will start charging me per kb...
So when u do tether your hermes to your laptop, make sure u don't surf too long or u might get "caught" also have an unlimitted data plan!

Fee for internet sharing?

my dorm is out of internet for a week and all my work is online. with sprint i know there is a separate plan/fee to use you phone as a modem, how about with tmobile? can i connect my phone and get on the internet without a huge fee?
The unlimited data plan with TMO is $19.99 now if I'm not mistaken.. it used to be $29.99 but apparently it just went down.

As long as you have data plan Tmobile does not charge additional fees for tethered internet sharing (USB or Bluetooth)
alright i'll try it then. i have unlimited data so i guess im good. with sprint even if you had unlimited data you had to pay extra to use you phone as a modem

WiFi or Data plan usage?

Hello all I have a HTC/Fuze (Raphael) with AT&T and can access the web just fine. I however did not get a data plan on the the phone..just an unlimited text to talk family plan. This is an offered plan in case you do not want a data plan. My question is how can you tell if you are using your wifi to access the internet and not the att network. I don't want to be charged for using the internet (since i have no data plan)...I went to the att store yesterday and they told me I can still get charged for using their network to access the net even though I have no data plan... can anyone help me with this question?
Thanks.

you need to use the HTC data connection application. you should be able to totally disallow any internet connection.
I am using an Orbit 2 on O2 UK, when wifi is connected it will only use it until disconnected or out of range, then reverts back to 3G.
You will know when it reverts back because the speed of the internet will slow significantly.
I completely disable/delete the medianet and AT&T ISP profiles so that it doesn't ever connect over 3G.
I have the same setup as you (but with a Tilt, no data plan). Download Modaco No Data cab, install and disable the ISP (the first option). This will turn off data usage but still allow you to send and recieve text and MMS.

Unlimited dataplan for Magic?

First off I live in Sweden, im about to buy a HTC Magic and just today when I was in the store and played with it a little the seller in the store told me that I have to have buy a unlimited dataplan from my provider Tele2 becasue the phone always connects and sends/recievs data and I would get a real juicy bill at the end off the month...
If this is true, is there any way to turn off the services that all the time connect to the internet?
I'm on a 500MB data plan, didn't go any where near the limit. (like 65MB or something) You have to remember it will jump on WiFi whenever it can. So if you in a WiFi hotspot or at home (sure you have WiFi?) than it's not using your data plan. But yes you can shut off the "Enable always-on mobile networks" option if you want.

Hmm ok... I have WIFI at home and at work so I guess it wond be much data cost but still I found a datapackage deal from my provider that costs about 8 euro and gives you 1 gb data, guess that should do it
