Do you really believe we will receive Android O, even after not receiving Android 7.1.2?
There is not even a source on the article...
We will certainly have Android O, but it will not come from Google's hands!
One could only hope. Oh well.
What?? No source??
Must be Fake News then......
I've been seeing a lot of news pop up on this today but nothing from a site I'd consider legitimate

It's a click bait article. It's fake and has no source.
@goti(0): Your response misses the point. The link the OP posted is pure clickbait. It's garbage. Your response only confirms @angourakis' post, which is that we wouldn't be receiving an official Android 8 after not receiving an official Android 7.1.2.
Why is nexus player still receiving the 7.1.2 update and is also having the android O developer preview, although it was also released in october 2014 with nexus 6:crying:

Nexus Player has the Intel Atom Z3560 which uses the 64-bit instruction set. That being said, it doesn't appear to be a very powerful piece of hardware in general like the Nexus 6 is, so who knows.
Because the Nexus Player uses a 64-bit processor (Intel Atom Z3560), like the 5X, 6P, Pixel, and Pixel XL.
EDIT: Beaten to the punch...AGAIN!

You made my day with this Sir.
That site has quite a bit on it, far more than most "click bait" sites do. It actually looks like someone's putting effort into it
Nah, they're just regurgitating clickbait crap from another link posted in the other Android O thread.
NOT A FAKE NEWS! I've got the proof. Oreo is coming officially.
This would be too good to be true.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I wouldn't get too optimistic. Just because some commits were found does not mean we are getting Android 8. The commits also do not explain why Google announced that we weren't seeing any further updates, and also do not explain why Google would skip a version on our devices.
Even though there are work done in AOSP for the Shamu regarding Android O, it doesn't mean that Google is going to push out an update officially. This happened to the Nexus 4 and 5 too I believe in the older days and they did not receive the versions after their EOL. On the positive side, this might be proof that the Shamu is capable of running Android O and the code for Shamu will hopefully reach out there after the full source code for Android O is out to be compiled. Makes it easier for ROM developers.

damn if we could flash that on the nexus 9 that would be siiiick
my first impression is .... surface on android. 2GB ram makes me wonder though.
would be sweet if they sold (or gave it away) it as a separate OS so we could run it on any hardware.
Looks like Kickstarter is up...

I don't know how, but I was lucky enough to snag one of the $39 units. Looking forward to playing around with it.
Nice score ?

So what you really want, is multi-window Android, and a launcher capable of showing running applications.
There are a number of 'hack' implementations of this idea, samsung has one, omnirom was working on one last year (haven't heard anything about it in a while), there is this "remix"... there is evidence that google themselves are working on it, but they are taking a more careful approach to it as the hardware Android runs on grows to make this feature more relevant. I sure can't see the use of it on a phone or TV, but a large tablet could benefit from it greatly, or a laptop.
For example, this commit to the Android window manager mentions multi-window: https://android.googlesource.com/platform/frameworks/base/+/baf6bef001a582fea275bf891294cf1fe9d5472e
The main thing I want is the multi window. I've gone back to my gn10.1 2014 for working out b/c constantly switching b/t google music and jefit was kinda getting on my nerves. Downside is that the gn10.1 speakers suck compared to the n9. Luckily best buy has the charge 2 on sale. almost got the UE but it seemed a but to trebley for my tastes, sounded clean though.
looks good. have nexus 9 with keyboard so the Remix OS would be cool on the Nexus 9.
No android 5.1.. no good multitasking.. supported kickstartar $1.
(If you haven't known about this yet)
You can now pledge $1 and get early access to Remix OS ROM for Nexus 9.
Source: https://liliputing.com/2015/04/jide-to-release-remix-os-custom-rom-for-nexus-9-nexus-10-tablets.html
Edit: I've also backed this up... with $1 lol
Well I'm backing this up and really looking forward to it...
This Rom is a bist, possibly doa. No customization, they have it locked down, no widgets, no app drawer and it has battery issues. Hopefully someone at xda gets a copy and can make it better than jide.

Are the battery issues possibly not ROM related, but device? Curious how this will run on the n9. (If you mean you are using the RemixOS on the actual Jide tablet that is)
I have the tablet and it's a 8500 battery. I believe it's a software issue. They have a way to go on software development to make this a daily driver.

They only said May, but right now Jide is likely occupied with fixing their Ultra Tablet. Users are having bugs, and I can't imagine the $1 tier is a priority.

Since certification we have to wait at least two months like it was with 5.0.2 Lollipop, so the earliest ETA we can expect Android 5.1.x is July 2015

Great job Sony! But i do not expect it to be upgraded to Android M
5.1 is really service pack for 5.0. Current version is quite buggy
Talk softly, tread carefully and carry a big gun.
Well, for sure my next phone will be from Sony. I'm impressed!
Hugely impressed with the amount of upgrades. My phone is over 2 years old now and still as useful as day one. Nice work Sony...

So much irony over here.. Previously before this annunciation we had post like „I don't expect Sony will bring us 5.0.x“,. after that we've seen „Sony is so dumbasse* that they can't bring us 5.1“ (or sth), and now, when we're officially getting 5.1 people start's saying „I don't expect Android M“.. c'mon, guys. We're so damn lucky that we even got 5.0.x, because our Z is 2+ years old.
come on guys even the nexus devices don't get updates tis much. instead of feeling bad about android m be glad about our XZ's having a L update. i think sony is doing a great job about android and phones or tablets. it's a shame that other phones users don't see the durability, camera, support and power of our devices.

camera takes very bad pictures especially after update
thats why i will stick to Sony. i abandoned Chinese handsets a long time ago and bought an Xperia Z with a nice open source policy, a big community and updates for this handset. Thank you Sony for supporting us!
I think we will wait another two or three months to have it on our Z. But I am very happy we will get it.

well i think there are some camero improvements. especially speed of focus. it focuses faster than before and i tink low light photos are better too. at least i feel that way
Another 8 months more to get 5.1 based on my own speculation. Sony Mobile first announce their lollipop upgrade @oct last year and we got it after around 7 months.
5.0 -> 5.1 is a much simpler step than 4.4 -> 5.0 so it shouldn't take as long.

Hey guys! After going all over the internet just to find the ways to get 3D live Wallpapers from Google Pixel working on our beloved Hammerhead , I can say that there is in fact no possible way to get them on our device until Android 7.1 source goes live. But.. but interestingly I ended up learning few facts about these wallpapers which made me all the more impatient to get these on my device.
1) I came across this website called B-Reel https://www.b-reel.com/
that is responsible for all the major product designs for Google.
2) On heading deeper I came across that these wallpapers too are created by the folks at B-Reel. But sadly the source to these Pixel Walls is currently not available but I was able to access the cached Copy of the link, which I am sharing with you guys.
I am sure it will be of help to some people here.

3) I was able to extract the apk for these 3D Walls from the Pixel System Dump Shared by @LlabTooFeR (Thanks a lot)
but as I mentioned above this apk requires a lib file that will (hopefully) be available once the 7.1 source goes live.
I have tried changing the api to 25 still the app force closes but shows preview of the wallpapers with Google Now Launcher(Pixel Launcher crashes with api 25)
Here is the link to the apk file : https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B0wbPlwrFczSeUxCN1pma2pja1k
Have a look at the resources and Please if possible suggest some ways to make the app work.
Thanks

Yes ,the only one not working is the live earth sadly, but half dome from top one is fantastic...I think they re a little bit zoomed on nexus 5, maybe due to the lower resolution of our display, but for sure it s the best wallpaper i ever saw on a device, and I mean every device I ever saw. What do you want better? Ahhh wait all the features are working even on at least nova launcher and default lockscreen ,reacting to finger touch.
Pixels software optimizations and software refinition looks great, and this is only what nexus line has ever lack...I need to buy a pixel but will wait when the price for 32gb will drop to about 300€ used so my nexus 5 will survive at least for next 1 year
