Peace ALL,
Hopefully someone can please help me!! I recently purchased a used OP2 off of Amazon. Phone received was in good shape and looked brand new. The problem I have however is that I can't bypass the initial set-up (I think it has something to do with Google factory Reset Protection).
Whenever the phone is in the initial setup process its asking for a gmail that was synced to the device before it was wiped--which of course I dont have access to. Is there any workaround for this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
i had the same problem as i got it second hand. The thing with me was that i knew the owner.
The problem is that the previous owner wiped the device from the boot menu ( the one that looks like twrp) and not from the in menu setting.
this is why it asks for a previous mail.
I asked for his mail and password ,logged in, went to settings did a factory reset form the menu and all ok.I dont know what you could do without his mail and password.
Maybe unlock it put twrp custom rom open it and then reset it to factory settings?
Does anybody know if unlocking bootloader and flashing the stock ROM will bypass Google Device Protection (not sure if this will work as i think the OP2 is already "unlocked")?
Someone please help
I am having the same issue. I've read how you have to wait 72 hours but I am not sure if it will work.
hey guys,
i think i made something really stupid.
-unlocked bootloader
-installed TWRP
-rooted
everthing was fine B161.
installed apps2sd and did something there so my phone was stuck in bootloop.
now the stupid part:
i wiped everything in TWRP... system, internal storage everything... i am such a douchebag!
I tried to recover with eRecovery and install stock firmware B161. Update process was successful and i can start my phone again.
but everytime i start the setup wizard i am stuck after wi-fi+ service (enhanced internet expierence) the screen shows "checking data.." for 1 second and switched back to wi-fi+ service.
is there anything i can do? guys help me please i am starting to freak out.
is my guarantee voided after i unlocked my phone?
fastboot shows
-phone locked
-frp locked
THANKS FOR ANY HELP!

did you do factory reset? I had some weird stuff going on after recovery, so I booted back to factory reset (vol + and power), after that it worked OK.
Once you requested the bootloader unlock key, your warranty might be void from that point (depends on country). The bootloader gets locked after flashing official firmware via eRecovery though.
yes i did a factory reset, still can't proceed after wi-fi+ configuration.
is there anything else i can do?
I have one question: is it possible with
-frp locked
and
-phone locked
to downgrade via eRecovery? (to b130 or something..)
I have the exact same problem.
I bought it 3 days ago, and suddenly yesterday downloaded Apps (from the Play Store) stopped working. So someone told me to hard reset it. I got into EMUI and did it. Then I rebooted it and now it stuck there. Can't complete the setup wizard.
I found no solution to my problem after reading google & xda-forum for 3 days. Tried everything... nothing worked. Sent it back and (luckily) got a new one. Now i'm more careful for sure.
The store I bought it from claimed that they had numerous similar complaints about the 3gb version. Which is the one I have. They told me I should take it back and that they will give me a new 2gb version along with any difference in money. We will see.
Exact same thing with me stuck at setup wizard so had to send it off for warranty and got a brand new phone yesterday

The problem is Android System Webview, it's not a system app in this rom and when you reset your phone it deletes it, happened the same to me, I had to go to a huawei center, they menaged to skip the initial setup and I've installed the apk from apk mirror. Without this app the phone can't login in your google account, so if you don't install it your gapps won't work

Sorry, dont have the previous ROM, I boiught it off someone and they probably did the first update. The factory reset should reset to huawei original but i think this is where my problem sits.
HARDWARE VERSION=NEXT_L09_VN2
BOOTLOADER VERSION=NXT-C900B120_FASTBOOT
KERNEL VERSION=NXT-C900BB140_BOOT
AP VERSION=NXT-C900B140_SYSTEM
CP VERSION=21.750.08.00.010(balong)
Parameter Version:
P-00.00.000 G-17.V271.371 E-40.01.000
does anyone have an international rom for this or any version that can work.
The way i was able to factory reset was
1. going to huawei site. "consumerDOThuaweiDOTcomSLASHjmSLASHsupportSLASHdownloadsSLASHindexDOThtm"
change slash to / and dots to .
2. Select options for your phone, mine was NXT-L09. Will show "HUAWEI Mate 8 Firmware(NXT-L09, Android 6.0, EMUI 4.0, C605B100, Latin America, Channel-Others)"
3. Download, extract onto sdcard in dload folder, restart phone using vol up & vol down & power.
4. phone will complete boot restart but will then loop the boot process.
5. Do factory reset again
6. After huawei logo, different options show and you are then ok to proceed to login to your google account and setup refreshed phone.
Now on NXT-L09C900B100 build, if anyone has nougat rom for this, please share.
For future reference, if anyone gets stuck with this on P9 lite, indeed the instructions provided by Huawei point to VNS-L11C432B161, which doesn't include Android webview and therefore initial setup cannot proceed. The solution is to flash B210 on top of B161:
update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G1164/g104/v80562/f1/full/update.zip
which allows you to pass setup as the bug has been fixed. No root/unlock/twrp required.
I have an SAMSUNG s8 SM-G950F which I purchased threw Amazon as new from Italy, I live in the UK.
I decided to try rooting it Following these steps
1st of all I tried using Odin3.V3.10.6 and using CF-Auto-Root-dreamlte-dreamltexx-smg950f.tar.md5
Al this seemed to do was factory reset my phone it still worked fine but was not rooted.
so I tried the method below, from that site, wont let me post links so took the . out
galaxys8root com galaxy-s8-root how-to-root-galaxy-s8-or-s8-plus-exynos
When it game time to to do the 2nd key combination (step11) for the twrp, to load the boot loader i missed it, and my phone was stuck, at boot screen and would do nothing, i tired to use Odin to write the file again it never happened.
I did some more goggling saw that web site is out of date and there was a new version of twrp, downloaded twrp-3.2.1-0-dreamlte.img.tar and tried using odin to flash that, still was not having it, still stuck at the screen. Figured out how to get my phone back into usb upload mode and tried again, and then i kept getting the message that their was no P part partition and it failed.
Tried this a few times did some more goggling, saw the thing about doing it letting it fail, reboot the phone and do it straight away this did not work with the twrp-3.2.1-0-dreamlte.img.tar, but did work with CF-Auto-Root-dreamlte-dreamltexx-smg950f.tar.md5 file.
This let my phone boot again, and was rooted, but this caused me issues with running apps and I saw there was no way to hide the cf auto root so decided to just reset my phone.
This worked but now my phone fails the Safety test and i can not use apps that need it....
So was wondering if any one could advise me what my best course of action is, can i put my phone back to stock some how so it will pass the saftynet again or do I need to try the twrp so i can use magika and hide the fact its rooted?
Thanks in advance, included some screen shots from the software screen in case it helps..
Hello.
I have a serious problem.
tl;dr:
I forgot my pattern lock combination and I need my messages so I don't want to factory reset. Is there any other way?
Long story:
So I've forgotten my pattern lock combination and I have a job interview tomorrow at the address I received in a message.
I can't unlock my phone. I didn't write down the address anywhere else. And if I try to factory reset my phone it will get rid of all my messages.
So far I've tried:
dr.phonw - but for some reason it doesn't work on p9 lite
I've read online you can delete the password file for the pattern lock and it will unlock, I've tried using usb cable to access my files but I can't access the phone while it's locked.
I've tried installing a file manager from a sd card in recovery mode, but p9 lite doesn't have that function.
Do you have any other ideas I could try.
It might seem like a strange question, but I'm really panicking right now, the job interview is tomorrow and it's really important to me.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Hello fellow people of XDA!
Today I got an OTA update for my S7 edge (SM-G935F). The update has installed fairly fast (after the first reboot). But then, it got stuck on a decrypting loop. I have enabled prior the full phone encryption, and set it to ask for a password at each start. I entered the password correctly, as it said Starting Android... after, and since then, only the rotating padlock is showing. Every like 5 minutes the soft buttons are lighting up for a second, but then nothing is happening. After a while it even gets hot, but still nothing. I had this issue at the previous update too, but it started after like 30-40 minutes. Now 90 minutes have passed and still nothing.
I can reboot to the recovery and bootloader screens, and everything is fine. Knox not tripped, not rooted, everything official. In the recovery screen it says that my CSC is ECT (but according to sammobile it should be CNX).
Some additional info: samsung/hero2ltexx/hero2lte
7.0/NRD90M/G935FXXU2DRAG
I will try to flash a stock rom (PDA: G935FXXS2DRAA, CSC: G935FROM1DQJ3). If that doesn't work, I'll flash today's rom (PDA: same, CSC: G935FVFG1DQI1).
Any tips/help would be greately appreciated! Would not want to fall to the wipe data method, because I don't want to lose everything... But then again, I guess that would remove the boot password...
Thanks!
Update: After waiting for like 10+ hours, nothing has changed. Maybe I shouldn't have forced a reboot after an hour of the ota update? Going to try flashing the firmware now.
Update 2: I flashed the firmware, now the buttons seem to light up less often. But after an hour of decrypting, I guess the ultimate soultion would be to do a factory reset, since no one is helping...

Then use that same password, i think there is confusion, there is a password when you enable fingerprint and then a password when you enable secure startup. Be sure not to confuse them. If it still happens, then I guess there's got something wrong with the update, and only way is a factory reset. Btw, i also updated and i normally entered secure boot password and it started okay. Don't know what caused this for you.

I entered the password correctly, as it stated "Starting Android..." then the rotating padlock took forever. More than 10 hours even. But in the end, a factory reset helped me. But rip my photos and memories...
Don't use device encryption anymore and leave OEM unlocking enabled in developer options.
Those two settings cause more hassle if you want to keep data, and make backups from time to time using Samsung Smart switch on computer. Use a microSD card to store and take all your photos from camera.

Right, but i use encryption and i could update without any problem, don't know what caused this issue with him. But one should backup all data BEFORE updating, as i did to save yourself from such hassle.

Yeah, it's a sure thing I won't turn on Secure Stratup anymore. I don't know what OEM unlock does or does not, but right now, I don't have dev options enabled. If I had a microSD then I couldn't care less about resetting my phone, but since I don't have, because I have two SIM cards and a memory card has no place left, I feel bad.
Still, I don't know caused this issue. I had OTA updates before with full device encryption enabled and I had no issues before. I kinda used the same disk space at every OTA, so it should have took the same time... And I have to mention, that I did not tamper with the software. No root, no custom rom, and software only from the play store.
To enable developer options you click Build number 7 times which is located in the Software information tab in settings.
OEM unlock allows you to flash and boot the phone with custom binaries (Custom Recovery, Kernels, Roms). You can leave OEM unlock disabled if you don't want people that may steal your phone and use it for themselves.
With OEM unlock disabled and a google account signed in, it will block anyone from using the phone after a factory reset on stock Samsung firmware as it will prompt the user to enter the google account that was associated with that device.
Unfortunately there are rare cases that a OTA update may fail. Reflashing correct stock firmware usually fixes it but in worse case scenarios a factory reset will be required.

Never had OEM unlock enabled, because I didn't know what is does, so thanks for the info. I reflashed the correct stock firmware, but that didn't help either, so I had to resort to wiping the data... Regarding this, do you know by any chance a good software for recovering data without root?
I don't know of any unfortunately, if anyone has any good paid ones that actually work please post here.
