Hey guys,
Wanted to try and find out whether anyone else is experiencing issues with Google Play Services (9.4.52) crashing after upgrading to Nougat OTA?
I thought I may have a botched install so tried the following:
- Cleared cache
- Reset and didn't restore from backup
- Reset and only installed stock apps
- Safe mode
- Cleared Google Play Services data
- Unsubscribed from all Google beta testing apps
I still can't figure this one out, even after a hard reset back to stock it still kicks up a play services crash about once ever 10-20 minutes... very weird... and frustrating
Anyone else had this issue? Or got any suggestions?
I had the exact same problem after accepting OTA yesterday via the beta program. I was on 6.0.1 on my 6P (no root, no custom rom, locked boot-loader). All Google Apps and Services crash including Messenger (SMS). I performed a hard reset with no luck. I flashed OTA with no luck. Only solution was to unlock boot-loader, flash recovery, and go back to stock. I will try again today.

Will try that method instead, the crashes have died down again but I can't find any correlation between specific apps and what's causing the crashes! If I find a solution I'll post.
I think there may be a problem with the final release. It seems Google pulled 7.0 from their factory images site. I downloaded 7.0 for nexus 6, 6P and 9 earlier today and only the download for the Nexus 9 is still available. I don't know which version is giving you a problem but on the Nexus 6P Google earlier posted version MTC20F. I was going to flash it this evening but I think I'll wait and see what version they post back to the factory image site.
Google has finally posted the OTA and Full ROM images for 7.0. Both have the exact same problem on my 6P. All Google Services and Apps crash and the phone reboots randomly (often). I am at a loss. Obviously issues exist with 7.0 and 6P. Google seriously needs to address this non-sense.
So, with the realization that Xposed, etc. are likely dying a slow death I'm coming to the realization more and more that it's time to just get used to using a phone without that stuff and go ahead an upgrade to Nougat. I've been holding off because of the lack of xposed.
My question is...is there anything out there (on the Play Store or downloadable APKs) that will do the same things as these modules and is a legit app and not some junk?
1) Greenify (I know this will work without xposed but some features won't work - is there anything better?)
2) XInsta (download Instagram photos and videos)
3) SnapPrefs (I primarily only use this for typing more text in Snapchat and sharing 20 second videos which are longer than stock, I don't need the other features)
Anyone know of anything that I can download to replace those?
Also, as far as rooting 7.1.1 it's just a matter of applying the latest SuperSU I already am using (I updated my N6P regularly) after flashing the 7.1.1 stock images?
Any pointers will be appreciated.

Hi... I can't answer all your questions, only 2...
About greenify. I used to have it on my N6 running marshmallow. When I upgraded to the N6P, I thought I'd try without, just to see how battery performs. With stock 7.1.1 or PureNexus, the battery drain is negligible. Also, you can install a custom kernels and use custom profiles which tends to help with battery consumption (this is more for screen on usage though).
If you still want to save more juice... There's Franco's naptimes app that forces doze as soon as the screen goes off. I don't use it, so you may try to find more infos by yourself.
I don't use Xinsta, nor SnapPrefs, so i'll pass on this.
For root, flash your stock firmware, flash TWRP with fastboot, reboot to TWRP, then flash SU of your choice. Latest SuperSU is SuperSU 2.79 SR3. Don't reboot to system before the SU install or TWRP will be overwritten by stock recovery and you'll have to reflash it, etc... Starting with 7.x firmware it has to be done this way...
Good luck...

Thanks!
Yeah, I used Elemental right now on my N6P with 6.0.1. So I'm already tweaking that, and I did read about Naptimes just like 5 minutes ago as I was doing further research. Can also run Greenify in basic mode to get some of those benefits back as it doesn't require Xposed for all features.
Really curious about the other two, if anyone knows of any other apps.
Thanks again!

Hey... I don't see any issue as far as I remember that could prevent from using greenify. I don't know how much apps you have installed that could stay running in the background. Doze has been pretty well improved on 7.x compared to marshmallow. Give it a try, you can still install it afterward.
Good luck...
OGinstagram+ can download pictures and videos, it's here on XDA. It's not updated regularly (doesn't get bumped up for each little play store update to Instagram) but it works just fine. No idea about anything for Snapchat or greenify.
On newer versions of Snapchat you can type unlimited captions without Snapprefs. Videos are still stuck at 10 seconds, though.

Ahh! Didn't know that! I can probably deal with the video limit. Good to know, thank you!

Thanks for that suggestion. :good:
Well, I think I have enough to ditch XPosed and go to Nougat...gonna back the phone up first and get to work flashing.
Hi,
Has anyone experienced major issues with the play store. At the minute no apps will download or update for me at all. I've gone through all the steps on here (https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/7513003?hl=en) and here (https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/7512202).
And now I've gone and done a factory reset thinking that willt certainly resolve the issue, but no luck. Any ideas? I'm not rooted or anything like that (for now anyway)

MiFavor UI 4.2
Android 7.1.1
FYI, I went off wifi onto mobile data, and that worked. Isn't a good solution for me though, as it sucks in my house/neighbourhood, and I'm not on an unlimited plan.
I have Lineage Marshmallow and Netflix did not show in Google Play. I installed Magisk through its manager, made sure Hide was on, then Netflix was still not in Play. I downloaded an apk from a trusted site (can't remember want it was at the moment, apkmirror or something like that). It started bootlooping during that install. Had to wipe and reinstall the ROM.
What ROM and magisk combo can I use to get Netflix running? I need Marshmallow or higher, and the camera to function. Suggestions?
Stock Nougat.
Face it, apps are getting better at seeing the **** you do, so just play by the rules. That or stop using ****ing Lineage OS, use AOSP 7.1.2 and stuff, its less customized and thus a bit harder for apps to see with safetynet or similar, but the thing is, at that point you might as well just run stock.
How do I get stock Nougat that has a working cam, and miracast? I was of the impression that Nougat roms disabled both.
Hi I am on 5he latest los build for the 6p. I am also on the latest twrp. When I updated from the last los build for some reason it did not run the script so I had to manually install. So I did a fresh install I wiped everything and started fresh. For some reason it won't let me train my voice model. And it won't recognize my voice at all. I used the latest open gapps and the I used the super package. I usually use stock. Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening and how to fix it?
Also I tried installing rootless pixel launcher from the store then I went to get the pixel bridge and it won't let me install 5he bridge. It's been like that for the last month or so. Anyone have any ideas about why 5hats happenin?g
