I was wondering if our TMobile version supports gigapower? I'm not getting good results. My highest being right next to the router was 46.79 Mbps on 5ghz. if there is anything I can do, that would be great.
Thanks in advance

What channel is your router for 5G on? Not sure how accurate this is but I've read a few times that the higher the channel number the faster the speed but the harder it is to penetrate objects and walls. I have the Netgear R7000 and I have 8 different choices for the channel. 4 are in the double digits and 4 are in triple digits. I have mine on 161 right now. Make sure the 5G antenna is on a triple digit channel number.
I work for AT&T, you need to login to the modem and separate the 2.4 ghz and 5ghz wifi frequencies. Just change the name to the 5ghz and add "5G" to the name at the end. It'll greatly improve your throughput, Hopefully they gave you a 5268AC or 599, and nothing lower. You can login to the GUI by going to 192.168.1.254
Just saw you mentioned on 5G. which modem did they give you?

What connection speed are you getting to your router? For some reason I can not get above 65Mbs connection. All my laptops connect at the 150Mbs. Any tweaks that you guys know of to increase this?

Settings/wireless& networks/ wifi settings/ click the router your connected too and an info window will pop up.
There are probably apps available to give you wifi and router information also, I haven't checked.
The highest I've seen on mine was 54 Mbps.
I only see 65mbps with full signal, literally in the same room as my router, regardless of what router I use.
So folks seeing 100+: What router you usin', and are you lying?
So what am I doing wrong? I top out at about 30Mbps on my budget cable connection wired or wireless to the laptop. Speedtest.net app maxes out at 10 to the Evo.

My Evo shows the connection at 65mbps but I've only ever achieved between 6 and 7 mbps using Xtremelabs Speedtest. Annoying since my net package is supposed to be up to 15 mbps but I guess that's only going to be under perfect circumstances.

Eh, sometimes I get better with my other computers, sometimes not. I mean, my PC connects at 300mbps but there's no way I'm actually going to get that from the internet with my plan only at 15. I think some folks may have some confusion that the settings are only telling you the network connection, not necessarily the internet speed.

That's the downstream bandwidth, which seems actually pretty good.
What we're talking about is intra-network throughput. Speed in which your device communicates with your router.
I had to install a modified wireless kernel module to get N back after the 2.3 Gingerbread update. Or one can install a custom kernel which includes the wireless N fix such as freedom or chopsuey.

This question has probably been asked before, and i'm sorry for repeating it, if so.
But can someone tell me if it's even possible to get more than 54Mbps in link speed on A101?
I've seen screenshots of link speeds at 65Mbps, but i can't get higher than 802.11g speed. And, yes i know that the link speed is just a theoretical speed, but since this device is supposed to be able to handle 802.11n (at least for my knowledge), it would be great to get n speed working. My wireless router is a Netgear WNR1000 v3.
Thanks in advance.

But i think the WNR1000 runs at 2.4GHz. Not 5..
I'm on 2.1.03 and my 101 connects to my d-link router via 802.11n (confirmed on the router) but the 101 says 54mbps reguardless of actual rate.
Apparently, the max speed on this device is 65 mbps because of a hardware limitation. I think this is total BS because this device is marketed as supporting wireless N. The only real difference between N and G are the speeds, so saying that it supports N and not having it support the N speeds is really retarded.
Then again, I could be misinformed. I hope I am, but AFAIK, it's a hardware limitation.
Doesn't [email protected] require 40MHz channel width? Maybe the tablets don't support 40Mhz channel widths.
**EDIT**
Just set my wireless to 40MHz channel width only and the archos connected fine.
Just because the box says it supports 802.11n wifi networks, it doesn't however, make any claims as to the rate at which it connects to such networks.
I'm a little disappointed that archos chose to implement the bare minimum to qualify for 802.11n. If you do actually read the N white-paper, it doesn't really REQUIRE all that much. It doesn't require 40mhz, and it certainly doesn't require higher speeds. There is MUCH more to the N implementation than just throughput. However just doing the least amount of work to get your N badge is disingenuous.
I've connected my 70IT to a Cisco controller based network that I administer, and I can't get above a 54mbit connection either connected to a 1252 or a 3500 series AP with a 4400 WLC all on the newest code. I do connect at MSC07 which is an N code. I only have 20Mhz enabled on my 2.4 band though and will not be able to test 40Mhz...
I'm not certain if they can make updates to software that can add more N features or not. If so, I wish they would add it to their TODO.
I can't post a link to the whitepaper being a new user, but google for
802.11n mandatory optional whitepaper
and you'll find it on the 2nd link.
Ok, thanks for the information. To bad it seems that i have to stick with g speeds.
I can't for the life of me get my Xoom to see my 5GHz 802.11n network... I have a Linksys E3000 running dd-wrt with one of the connections doing g/n mixed and the other doing straight up 5GHz n. It works fine when I connect with my laptop. The Xoom will of course see and connect to the g/n mixed network no problem using 2.4GHz n.

No, this is the only device.
I don't have a xoom, but with my X I had to remove a dash from my SSID. I also swear for 5 minutes my X saw my 5ghz band (my router does both simultaneously), but I guess that could have just been the router broadcasting the wrong SSID for the 2.4ghz.
FWIW, I have an 802.11a (5GHz) network at home (nice, 'cause my a-capable WiFi devices don't have to compete with the other ~15 visible 802.11g networks in my area) and I was able to connect to that right away. Pretty surprised, actually, but the BCM4329 is an a/b/g/n capable device, after all.
I'm currently on a 5ghz n only network without issue. Netgear wndr3700.
Just wanted to update everyone in case others find this thread looking for help that I may have found my solution. I came across a post on the Motorola forums that mentioned needing to set the channel to one of a handful of channels, notably, one of the following: 36 40 44 48 149 153 157 161. My router is currently set to auto and I have confirmed it is not on a compatible channel at the moment. Unfortunately, I will be unable to test this to confirm it is the problem until I get home in a few days. Will update again then.

Where did you see the specification that Xoom's wifi radio is 2.4Ghz? Especially since some people are connecting to their 5Ghz N routers.
Please see: https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/46417?tstart=120
Most WiFi IS 2.4GHz; what sets the Xoom apart is we have the 5GHz "N" and "A" bands, too.

Try this
You may have a faulty S4 like mine. My phone would say it has a good signal to both the 5GHZ and 2.4GHZ but would only connect to the 2.4GHZ signal. I could connect to the 5GHz signal only if I stood beside the router. When I borrowed someone else's S4 and stood a reasonable distance away, it would connect to the 5GHZ signal no problem, whereas my phone wouldn't (standing in the same place).
Try connecting to someone else's 5GHZ router or using a different S4 to test and compare. If its the phone, I would get a replacement phone or send it in for repairs, if it's still in warranty and not rooted or modded.
Also remember that 5GHz has a shorter range than 2.4GHZ and that the Nexus may have a better antennae than the S4.
I'll definitely give it a try, thanks a bunch!

How are you already getting it if TMO had to push out an update for users on tmo phones?
Are u talking about the 600Mhz band? That's n71 and is supported by our phone.
They also use band n41, n260 and n261.
n260 and n261 may not be supported but that's not where TMobile has released their dedicated 5G (28GHz and 39Ghz both FR2).
I'm not currently on their new 600Mhz band but rather using their shared n2 band currently (1900Mhz) according to the cell mapper app.
Getting around 130Mbps on speed test so it's not too bad.
Also I'm on Metro but technically speaking same network.

It does. Also since last year's McLaren did, I would be surprised ours wouldn't

I just wonder if it is going to require an update... As the TMobile branded 8 did.
TMobile can't push updates to unlocked phones so if required we won't be able to get it.
That being said they definitely seem to be the provider that's less stringent about allowing unlocked devices on the network so chances are much greater than on AT&T's network for instance.

No, the update on the op8 from t mobile was to enable SA as well as a new security patch. I have op8 t mobile as well as 8 pro, can only get SA on op8 from t mobile right now and was only after installing that update. We will have to get an update on the 8 pro before we are able to use SA, hopefully the update is relatively soon.
Out of curiosity what are the performance delta between the 2?

The performance of SA n71 will be less than running n71 in NSA miss, simply because you're losing your LTE aggregation. However, without needing the midband LTE anchors, you can now connect to 5G on n71 in places where you couldn't before because either midband LTE was too weak of a signal or just didn't exist. Ping times for SA are lower on SA as well. If you want a direct comparison between LTE, NSA and SA, look at my other post https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=83222337&postcount=21.
Edit: This link also has some comparisons as well using Network Signal Guru https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=83222499&postcount=23.

Currently, t mobile is having phones still lock on to NSA by default. If you still have a useable midband LTE signal, chances are you'll lock on to NSA instead. You can manually force SA mode, although then you can't make or receive phone calls. Although that depends on where you are as well (I know someone in another market with t mobile op8 and if he forces SA, he's still able to receive calls just not make them).
Not sure if I'm the only one but this latest TMO update has messed up my 5g connection on my S20 Ultra. Whenever I go on WiFi for more than a few hours and then try to go back to 5g I won't get an internet connection and have to disable 5g (force an LTE connection) and enable it back on so that it's working again. This is annoying. If anyone has any suggestions or is experiencing the same issue please let me know!
Edit: Seems like I posted on the wrong forum (One Plus), but still wondering if this is a device issue or a network issue so I'll leave the post as is.

Haven't found a fix yet, have you?
What is the baseband version you have on 5G SA builds?? I believe, it should be >= 2.0. Unfortunately on all OS 10 I saw only 1.0.c8 something, which most likely will not support Dynamic Spectrum Sharing, neither 5G StandAlone.
