ROMS for T357T? - Samsung Galaxy Tab A series Questions & Answers

I took a quick few glances at the roms and there appears to only be TWRP for T357T.
Are there any roms for the T357T? I'm on the verge of grabbing this tablet since it's the only good Tab A tablet here/close to me or any other store.

[Q] Looking for specific features in a ROM

I've so far have spent two days with my new GS4, have to admit, I'm loving it.
This isn't my first time rooting and installing custom roms, coming from the misaligned and abandoned Photon 4G.
Normally I consider any software put on by a manufacturer on top of stock android to be bloatware, and should be removed with prejudice. However the air gestures, watch on, and some of the other things Samsung had put in, actually seemed like they cared, which is surprising to me (you'd understand if you knew the saga my MoPho had went through)
So basically right now I'm torn between running a debloated stock image, and PAC, which I loved on my old phone.
What would really make my day, and would set this device for it's life span, if there was a way to have a phablet UI on a stock image.
so far it looks like PAC is gonna be your best bet as far as obtaining a phablet UI via PA prefs.....lucky for you we already have it on our phone. ive flashed the majority of the roms available now and thats the closest ive come.

[Q] Thinking about getting a Note 3

Hello everyone. I don't have that many posts here, but please don't let that reflect me lol. I tend to trade phones a lot. I currently have a Verizon S4...I like the phone, but I am on the latest MK2 firmware...Here just recently, SafeStrap has became available. However, there is really 1 ROM that works right, and is stable, and that is Hyperdrive. Hyperdrive is a great ROM, I am not bashing at all. It's just not my cup of tea. In the past I have been a huge fan of Eclipse. Eclipse is not working with Safestrap at this time...I have had this phone for a couple of months, and it sucks waiting week after week hoping devs have made progress...Anywho, what can you guys tell me about the Note 3?
If I went to Verizon and picked one up, am I going to be able to root it and install a variety of roms, or am I going to be stuck like I am with the S4?
If I am going to be stuck like I am now, then that is definately going to make me choose a different phone. If so, could someone recommend one? I have been a huge fan of the Samsung phones here recently since the S3 and Note 2. I really liked my Note 2. I also really like Motorola's...They are durable phones, and safestrap is nice...Here recently SafeStrap has became available for Samsungs which is awesome.
Heads up !!the powers that be will move this thread to the q&a section.... but to answer if you want to crack flash...note 3 is not for you.....maybe moto x, or if you want a bigger device the Lg g2 has some good development.
One thing about the note3 is that you should be able to deal with the phone( stock )....and rooting it just to de bloat and themeing. The phone Is quick and Imo the spen and touchwiz are essential to this device! so asop roms are not happening.
hope this helps...good luck...
p.s. still stock Un rooted and kicking ass... coming from gnex!
You can checkout the ROMs section in the Note 3 forum to see the available ROMs. I come from an S3 and the choice of ROMs there was ample. Note 3 however has very few ROMs as opposed to the S3. However, the ones that are there are pretty good. I am on Beans ROM and it gives me everything that I want.
One important thing for me is the ability to use the PEN (Along with all the apps, SPEN, Scrap book etc). Beans gives me full features as far as the pen is concerned. I guess there are other ROMs as well that do it (Hyperdrive). But any new "Original" ROM development that happens for the Note 3, might have some limitations. if you are not a big user of the PEN, then it might not matter to you.
Nutshell, I love my Note 3 and the fact that I am running a non-stock ROM on it. Hope this helps.
Thanks guys! Well I glanced through the roms, but I don't know what firmware the note 2 comes with if I was to go get one right now. That being said, I wasn't sure if the one that it came with is rootable, or if it is locked tight like the s4...One rom specifically that I am looking for on the note 3 would be eclips....Without doing a bunch of research, I figured it would be easiest to just open a thread an ask, that way I got accurate information.
Oops, sorry about using the wrong forum.
most of what is considered roms these days are actually themes applied over the top of a stock rom. Those hundreds of roms you see for the S3 and Note2 can be easily achieved yourself with a couple of apps and a bit of know how. The Note3 has everything one needs. If you buy retail you can use safestrap and flash touchwiz roms only. If you buy a Developer Device, then you can flash AOSP or Touchwiz since the bootloader is unlocked. Also most everything in the T-mobile section N3 is compatible with the VZW DE N3, so there is actually alot of development going on if you look in the right places and do not expect silver spoon feeding on a platinum platter.

Thanks, I appreciate the help. I wasn't expecting to be spoon fed anything. I just don't get a good grasp on whats going on and have the device in my hand. I wanted to make sure that I could do what I was wanting to do with it before I went and bought this phone. I guess my one last question is, what is the firmware that will come with it, or what is the latest I should ask. Just so that I can check on my rom options.
Reason why I am asking this, is because the S4 was kind of confusing at first because devs are making mk2 roms, but they aren't working with ss...There are some other things as well, but thats beside the point. lol.
Moving to Q and A and closing... Best any more discussion goes here..http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2466108

Any chance of a Custom ROM?

Hey all,
So my mother has an iPad 4 at the moment. She's had it since the day it's came out, and loves it. One of my younger siblings ended up cracking it, and it's starting to act weird. As it's not functioning properly, she's decided to replace it. Now, over the years I've told her about how much better Android is, trying to convince her that it's the superior OS. She hasn't listened thus far, and still has her iPad. However, she is about to get an Android tablet after all.
My father recently won a Amazon Fire HD 10 in a contest and is gifting it to my mom. Now, I'm aware that the Amazon Fire's screen and specs are a bit crap, but it's free (and she probably won't mind anyway). However, the OS is what I'm worried about. Amazon is known for having a horrid skin on top of Android, even going as far as to replace Google's Services with their own. I don't want this to be her first impression of Android, as Amazon's OS is far from what Android can really do. With that said, I was curious if anyone is perhaps developing a Stock Android/CyanogenMod ROM for the Fire HD 10. In order to get a custom ROM running on this tablet, we first need a custom recovery (such as CWM, TWRP, etc.). I'm aware that the $50 Fire Tablet has both a custom recovery and Custom ROMs, but that tablet has much more interest due to the price point. Now, I'd try to do some of this process myself, but I unfortunately know nothing about porting Custom ROMs/Custom Recovery's myself. I do know my way around ADB/Fastboot and have some minor Linux knowledge, but that's about it.
The tablet is already on it's way (it's currently shipping), so I'd be able to test any ROMs once I receive it myself. Now, I know that this is a tall task, but if anyone is up for it I'd be eternally grateful.

Custom Roms For Tab 4 10 Plus?

Hello. I have been looking for custom roms for my Lenovo Tab 4 10 Plus (X704F) for quite a while now and have found nothing so far. Not a single rom or even a mention of one being in development. I really hate the current rom to the point where i have considered selling or giving the tablet away. Am i out of luck or is there still hope for a custom rom?
As an Enthusiest I don't see why we cant get roms as its definitely possible as the device uses stock android we at least have magisk and twrp so its great but it could be better as I'd love to see Oreo or at least Nougat roms I'm almost tempted to learn Android Development just to give the device some love apart from the fact I haven't ever tried or know where to get started.
I hope too in a developer to build a Lineage Rom or something like that. But the Tab (for what i saw) probably is getting an update to Android Oreo...let's see what will happen in the coming months
Sadly, There won't be an update.
I only recently came to the realization that Lenovo had let this tablet go to crap by adding bloatware and failing to update to Oreo or beyond. My son is constantly complaining to me about needing more storage on the tablet. He has an SD card, but only certain things will work on it.
I am looking for any potential solutions to extend the useful life of this tablet that seems very limited by its OS and bloatware, despite having capable hardware.
Is the best that I can hope for to root the tablet and remove a couple of system apps? Is there any hope on the custom ROM front, or is this tablet just not popular enough? I was really shocked to see that there are precisely zero custom ROMs for it. Please tell me that I am missing something.
What has anyone else done to salvage this thing?
I have both Tab 8 3 plus and Tab 4 10 plus (both lte). The Tab 8 already has 3 great custom roms (especially Crdoid!) Both tablets have quite similar hardware (same CPU...). I was wondering whether one or these roms could be modified and ported to the Tab 4...

Just upgraded from Tab S2 LTE to Tab S5e LTE

A couple of days ago I received my SM-T725 from Amazon. They had the international version in stock with free Prime two day shipping. Since this is the international version, it doesn't have any carrier bloat. I installed a T-Mobile SIM and it's getting a good LTE signal here in Minnesota. So far everything is working fine. I like the form factor and it's a nice upgrade from my very old SM-T817T.
Most of my previous devices I rooted and installed custom ROMs. For now I'll try to see if I can still to the stock ROM.
Glad you like it. I am enjoying mine, but I wish it had some custom roms and support from the community. Considering its price and features, I am honestly a bit surprised it is not more popular on here. This tablet is ripe for some lineage OS. Samsung's Android implementation is so heavy and bloated.

I'm sure someone will do it. Since mine is not carrier branded, Samsung allows you to unlock the boot loader. So a custom recovery is possible. Of course a custom recovery means that Magisk should work. Even without a custom ROM, you can debloat it when you have root access. The problem is knowing what you can remove without breaking things.
