Is there any way to keep cellular connection while using wifi? After enable wifi a while, the cellular connection disconnected and when turn of wifi, it takes times to reconnect 3G. I don't want this delay. I need a function like wifi assist on iOS
Yes, if you have Developer Options enabled (if not, tap on Build Number a bunch of times under About>Software Information and it will display in the setting menu) and choose "Cellular Data always Active".
I haven't tried this myself as I'm usually not connected to WiFi but it should do as it says.

Kayzee,
This is caused by your Internet settings.
1. Go to Programs/settings/all settings ( choose it from the menu on the bottom right corner ).
2. Tap Connections, within that tap once more Connections
3. Tap Advanced, than Select Networks
4. Under "Programs that automatically connect..", select My work Network instead of the mobile connection and tap OK.
From now on, it will never start data connection when trying to go to Internet, but you can always start it manually from the Comm manager.
I hope it helps, good luck !
If you search the forum, you'll find quite a few of solutions. But what works for me are:
1) BsB Tweaks - use it to disable the "data connection" (3G)
2) WiFi Toggle - use it to toggle the WiFi on & off
In "data services" turn everything to manual update, e.g tweeter, stocks, ...
Keeping the wifi on constantly doesn't actually consume much battery life and it's only the 3G really sucks the battery juice.

This doesn't work. Every time I check the Internet connection by loading a random webpage via the sense UI it still has an Internet connection, even if I doublechecked before to see if the Internet connection setting were off. This is frustrating

just uncheck the "auto download " option in weather tab in tf3d
Hi,
I am trying to figure out the different options in:
Settings => connections => advanced => select network.
What i want to do is keep wifi and data both on, so that when i open the phone from standby wifi would work in my house for data and when i head out 3G would take over the data, also when my phone is in standby mode and i have scheduled it to download my email, it should do it in standby mode via 3G or wifi without me manually tweaking the settings or manually downloading the email.
Right now, the upper option in set to T-mobile data and the lower option is set to "My work network".
please let me know,
i am sure alot of you already know the answer but i am not sure of the options.
Thanks alot in advance
The topic says it all.
Is there a way to keep 3G & Wifi enabled at the same time ?
Or is it possible to control the stack routing table, to control when to change from Wifi to 3G(Signal Strength, battery level, ...).
My goal is to make a smooth transition from 3G to Wifi and Wifi to 3G, so they must be enabled together for a short period of time.
As tested in this thread : forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5974482
When Wifi is turned on, rmnet0 in the routing table table disappears, and reappears when disabling WIFI.
So as I can't retain rmnet0, I can't manage the routing table as I want.
If I'm missing something please let me know.
Thanks.
I keep both wifi and mobile enabled all the time on my phone.
Go to Menu > Settings > Wireless & networks > Wi-Fi settings > Menu > Advanced > Wi-Fi sleep policy > Never.
Then make sure wifi and mobile are both enabled on your phone.
That setup gives you wifi hookup whenever wifi is available, and mobile connection when wifi isn't available. You're always connected to one or the other, even when you're on the move, and the switching is seamless and transparent.

Nice tip.
Thanks
Thanks, but isn't there a way to control and manage this.
For example, both are enabled with sleep policy and everything done like you just said.
So I am on 3G network, detect WIFI, but don't want to connect to it, due to certain parameters, like battery, signal strength, ...
Or can I just rely on the automatic switching when WIFI is detected nearby ?
Don't know if you guys know this or not. But having WiFi conected gives you the ability to be on the phone and web at the same time.
Whenever I reboot my new GS5, my wifi does not connect. I get this icon on the system bar and in the pull down I get a notice that "myssid" disconnected Network disconencted. Sign in again.
I go to wifi settings and tap on my connection and then tap on connect and it comes right up, but I have never had the network not reconnect automatically when I was in range.
Any thoughts?

Unfortunately, you didn't give us a detailed description of your settings i.e. how your phone is configured. Sounds like expected behaviour.. based on the way your phone is likely configured. You can optimize your settings or install an app to automatically log you into wifi.
To know for certain, you'd need to make some screen shots and describe your settings for us - not sure why you didn't do that to start with?

"sounds like expected behaviour" WHat? I have had smart phones since the Evo 4G and NEVER had my wifi not automatically connect when I cam into range or when the phone was turned on. So far I THINK it is mostly happening when I do a reboot.
"You can optimize your settings or install an app to automatically log you into wifi" I have NEVER had to install anything on any phone or laptop to auto log me in. I don't understand this at all and I am a computer guy. Been working on, building, troublshooting computers for 20+ years.
As for detailed description of settings, it is wifi. There is not that much to set. I am using WPE security and my SSID. The wifi works but when I reboot, I have to maually connect to the network bu taping on the connection in the wifi listing.
If there are spesicif settings you have questions about , let me know what you want to know. but it is wifi. There is not that much to it. I was thinking that maybe this had to do with connection optimizer or something.
Ok I'm going to give this a shot. I've tried calling T-Mobile and OnePlus and they didn't know what I was talking about. I'm hoping someone here may understand and have a solution. I'm trying to connect my WiFi to an access point that doesn't have an internet connection and then use the internet from my mobile data connection at the same time. I have a drone that streams live video. By connecting to it's hot spot (access point), it allows live video streaming. It also allows control through points on Google maps and you can use satellite view. I can't get satellite view because while connected to it's access point, I have no internet to download the imagery. I have intelligent network connection, dual channel download acceleration, as well as mobile data always active (developer settings) enabled. Is what I've explained understandable? Can someone help. I prefer not to use a third party app since obviously the phone is capable of doing it on it's own. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. First time posting, hope I did all correctly.
I'm running 11.0.0.1.1 IN11AA
TLDR: I connect to my drone through access point to stream video and need to use cellular data at the same time.
Hi there
You explained it perfectly, I know what you mean.
Can you create a hotspot with your phone and connect your drone to that?
Your internet connection will still work?
Or is it one way only?
How do other users of drones get around this?
Seems like a huge ballache.
No, the drone itself creates a hotspot that you have to connect to I'm order to stream. Again, I've been able to do this before without having to tunnel or anything but I can't seem to get it to work now. Typically the phone will try to attain an internet connection however possible. If one source doesn't supply it, it tends to use others but I'm this case, it just remains offline. Thanks for the great response, I tried to go all routes other than creating yet another post but I've exhausted all options I can think of.
I think there is a setting in "Developer options" that should solve your issue...
1. activate developer options (Settings->About Phone->Tap "Build number" until it says "Developer options enabled" - it may be you need to enter your device PIN to activate this)
2. navigate to Settings->System-Developer Options and search for the entry "Always activate mobile data" and toggle this to ON
Please note I am using a German language setting, so maybe the entries in English are marginally differing from what I wrote...
