Not normally. It will remove any launchers, however, so make sure you have the launcher APK of your choice on your SDCard so you can install it once the ROM boots.

In normal circumstances, no.

The Aroma package will install a launcher for you if you select one of them, if not then it will leave the original ROM launcher alone.

In my experience the Aroma package has always removed the stock launcher if I didn't specify a launcher. 6.01, 7.0, and 7.1 packages all removed the stock launcher (typically Trebuchet or the pixel-style default Launcher3).

Hmm, perhaps I am wrong. I have not tested with the aroma package very much as I am a nano guy myself. I used it once, but I did use the launchers included with aroma (when I did install is once). I read somewhere in the logs letting the user know that apps that were not being replaced will not be removed. (Which is why I claim that it leaves it alone.)

Launcher PAC Rom

Hi,I installed the PAC Rom that I find beautiful. I have a question: would it be possible to change the rom launcher (trebuchet) with that of the stock rom?
Sure it is. Extract the launcher from the stock ROM, place it in /system/app with 644 permissions then reboot. After rebooting select it as your default launcher and you are good to go.
Why would u do that? Just download it off the play store. Install it. Change it.

thanks for the reply, can you tell me how to set it as the default launcher because if I delete the rom launcher and reboot the nexus goes into bootloop
Have you copied both the apk and odex file of the stock launcher? If that doesn't work, have you tried a deodexed version of the stock launcher? If that still doesn't work, have you tried leaving both the stock launcher and trebuchet launcher installed together (you might have to rename the stock launcher's apk and odex). If all that doesn't work, then use nova or apex launcher as an alternative.

How to remove gapps from stock ROM? (Qualcomm)

Hi, I'm curious if I could get the following: the stock ROM on the xt1768 US unlocked version of the phone, but I only want basically the Google stuff that's included in the Pico or Nano opengapps packages. This would entail removing all the included Google stuff from the stock ROM, installing compatible versions of the plain ol' vanilla Android versions of the apps that Google replaces (Messaging, Calendar, Browser, Launcher, etc), and then flashing one of the minimal opengapps packages on top of that.
Anyone have any insights on this or where to start? Thanks!

You should be able to remove/replace all the google apps other than chrome, the chrome homepage provider, velvet and anything other than the ones like GoogleExtShared,GoogleExtServices. Play music and google calendar and all those can go with no issues. Chrome and the others I listed can be removed, but if you do a data wipe, you'll have force closes form what I've found. I'm not sure how flashing gapps will work out. That doesn't normally work so good on stock ROMs.

Yes, they are in oem/privapp, but you can only modify oem in twrp. You also have to change some xml files. You can't just delete them.
If you're trying to get rid of all that (Google and moto apps, which will strip functionality away) why not just use a custom rom and micro g?

Why bother responding with ridicule if you weren't at least going to fully answer the question? Some people like stock without google and moto crap. Especially when there are no custom ROMs fully suitable for a daily driver for everyone.

I forgot that was you, lol. Hopefully you noticed I wasn't being rude here. I was just posing a query. And letting you know not to try to modify the oem partition unless you're in twrp, the phone will freeze if you do it while booted into Android.
P.S, you can change your nav bar buttons with a substratum theme called navigate. I have a bat symbol as my home key now. You can also use Xposed to change the location of the buttons (gravitybox). I use the systemless Xposed in magisk.

Look in oem/priv-app and see if you have a folder named GoogleDialerOEM, or something similar. It may be named different on your device, but it should be the same. If you don't see any GoogleDialer at all there, it was uninstalled. Do you see a green dialer icon in your app drawer? It's really not hard to figure out how to change those other apps you mentioned. You just need to delete the ones you don't want from /system/app or /system/priv-app and replace them with what you want. Some apps like some keyboards and galleries require additional files in /system/lib and sometimes symlinks to certain libraries to work properly. If you swap an app and get force closes that is probably why. A little tip, use this file manager: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1523691 You can just grant it root permissions and use it to copy the apps you want to system, and it will automatically set all permissions for the app, libs and all folders correctly without having to set the permissions manually. If I do much more for you, I might as well just make you a custom stock ROM.
Edit: make sure any updates for google dialer from the play store were removed. I thought I added lines to remove them no matter what they were named but I may have missed a possibility. I use a different google dialer and don't update it on the play store so I don't know exactly what it is named when it's installed to /data/app.
Edit-2: I just updated my google dialer from the play store, and the correct lines to remove it should be in the updater script of that zip. It should have removed it unless yours is named different in your oem partition.

Chill - it wasn't ridicule by any reasonable reading. And since when is "fully answer the question" a prerequisite to responding with relevant thoughts in a public thread? An opinion was volunteered; take it or leave it.

Hello, please have a look at this similar problem mentioned in that thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/help/phone-shuts-notifications-t3700167
Your best choice is to backup everything and wipe system and data partition and install viperos again without any mod or 3rd party app. Then check if it's happening again.
A better battery stats dump can also help to identify Roque processes that heating the phone while running in background.
Otherwise stock rom can maybe a test too.
Thanks
I'm on stock nougat, rooted device with elementalx kernel. I was facing random switch off's mostly on incoming calls on both custom and stock roms (Tried many oreo roms multiple times). After reverting back to stock I noticed whenever I flash gapps package I am experiencing such issues. To confirm this theory I didn't flash gapps package this time and haven't noticed any problem since then. Maybe problem persist due to flashing of gapps in my case. Hit like if this helps.

Yeah, I did it to avoid individually installing each g-app cause I'm lazy af. I like some google apps which aren't available pre-installed on stock so it's not weird if I do that.

I can make you a flashable zip which will remove all bloatware and will work on 8.1, but it won't be an aroma installer. Does that work for you? If it does, let me know and I'll make one for you in the evening post work today.

Done! I've attached it with this post. Try flashing it on an existing setup (and not straight after a clean flash since the zip removes the setup wizards as well). I used OOS Open Beta 8 as base for the file paths, but it should theoretically work for all the Open Betas based on Android 8.1
For reference, the zip removes the following files and folders:
Code:
bugreport
bugreportz
fmfactorytest
fmfactorytestserver
oemlogkit
OPDiagnoseservice
wigig_logcollector
wigig_remoteserver

Bear in mind I haven't tested the zip as I'm not on OOS, so proceed with caution. In case anything goes wrong/doesn't work, just dirty flash the OOS you are on and you should be good. Have fun! :good:
EDIT: Updated zip is in this post!

That's nice, but there's a lot os stuff in there. Do you know what everything does? Are you running you phone without all that without problems?
Dirac isn't the sound drivers or something?

I have a fair idea about everything that my zip is removing. Most of the stuff has been compiled by looking into the multiple debloaters that are there for OOS anyway.
I haven't tested the zip myself because I use a custom ROM myself, but a couple of people I asked to test reported no issues, so. But, as always, issues can arise for anyone flashing anything, that's a standard disclaimer.
Coming to DIRAC, yes, that's a sound solution that OnePlus ships with OOS, but the sounds work just fine without DIRAC too. My zip removes it because there are people who prefer V4A as their sound mod and there have been times when DIRAC has been incompatible/caused some issues with V4A. Therefore, my zip removes it as well.
That's awesome, nice job.

If I want to keep a few apps, if I freeze them with Titanium Backup will they stay or will they be removed as well?
---------- Post added at 07:19 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:14 AM ----------
Also, when I used this the first time I was not able to use the dark/light OOS theme engine. It removed the OOS file manager and when i put it back in it was light, not a dark theme. I tried to go back to the light theme and it didn't make the change. I'd like to know if anyone knows what package needs to stay to be able to use the OOS theme engine.
Update... I found it. It's the OPSkin package. I'll try freezing the packages I want to keep and flash the zip and see how it comes out.

Frozen or not, they will be removed by the debloater.

Yes, the zip removed the OPSkin package as well, but I have updated the debloater so that it doesn't remove it now since that the inbuilt skin engine is something that I feel many users would be using. I've also compared OOS 5.1.0 with OOS OB 8 Hotfix and am happy to inform that the zip can be used with OOS 5.1.0 as well.
Updated zip is attached with this post. Have fun!

Great! Also, if you'd like, PM me the list of apps that you don't want the zip to debloat and I'll update my zip to make a custom, personalized version for you. That way, you can use the zip without needing to reinstall the apps that you use.

The only 3 are the oos filemanager, the oos gallery and YouTube, but I run a custom YouTube app that blocks ads. So no worries about a custom zip. Only takes a min to redo those.
But thanks a lot for the last one that leaves in the OPSkin

One more thing I found. Since I flashed the debloater in settings I can't enter data usage. I see it in the list on settings, but when I tap on it it t does nothing. Anything you can think of that was removed that would effect that?

No clue what could be causing that. I'll have a look again at the stuff being removed in case anything obvious pops out to me.
