I have been waiting for a VZW sub forum but none have been created yet.
I ordered 3 midnight black S8+ models on March 30. They are supposed to be delivered on April 21.
Damn, 3? Where are you coming from to get 3 S8+? Because my family of four took advantage of the BOGO for the S7 Edge last year but now I just have this temptation for the S8+ because the $15 a month thing returning the S7 Edge seems really good even though I have to be on the Unlimited.
Is it worth to go on the unlimited though? I currently have the New Verizon Plan 12gb with 10gb of Bonus data for life paying at around $183 with a special employee discount for 5 lines. If I upgrade to the unlimited, it'll be $200 for 5 lines and no discounts can be added...

don't think it's worth it to upgrade to unlimited depending on if you have carry over data and how much is left over at the end of every month. I currently have 4 lines on Verizon with 16Gb plan and 8gb bonus data with carryover. This month I have 35Gb left to use, never really use all of it anyway.
Also the $200 is before tax, with Verizon I think the tax equals to about $15-$20. And keep in mind they throttle your speed after 22Gb on unlimited. I also receive a 19% discount which I definitely don't want to lose. I'm planning on getting the best buy deal for my line for the s8+ though, only have to pay the tax which is about $77 and $100 off the phone, so $29/month as opposed to ordering on Verizon's website for $35/month. Would like to point out as well that on Verizon they want $120 tax upfront when preordering, not sure if that includes the $30 activation charge though.

Right now I have about less than 6GB remaining out of 22 with 3 more days to go until the billing cycle resets. And having 35GB remaining when your max is 22 as well is something I'm confused about. The only time I ever received as much was when hurricane Matthews hit and Verizon was helpful enough to pretty much give everyone unlimited data for 3-4 days and not affect your data cap. I had the luxury of having nearly 40GB.
Anyhow, one of the lines of 5 is currently being "leased" by a friend who's on it currently. I was being helpful to let him be on the plan for $30 a month as opposed to paying $45 on straight talk and it was because I needed someone to take a line for 6 months due to the adding a new line for the BOGO deal last year. If I do switch to the Unlimited, that would require him paying $40, which I guess I have to ask if he'd be okay with that.
That's the only real reason I want to see if the Unlimited is worth it to get a GS8+ for a value of $360 each if I traded in the S7 Edge. Sounds too good to pass but gotta think long term.... Ahaha

My max is 24Gb and I have carryover data, last month I had 11GB remaining so it was added to this month, hence 35GB. But yeah, if you're able to save $360 by trading in then why not, and I doubt your friend wouldn't mind paying the extra $10 for unlimited.

Actually saving $480 because it reduces it down to $360 from the retail price of $840.
Yeah, the only thing is that I was making $10 from him all this time because the current plan only charges $20 a line. He's saving $15 from buying Straight Talk but I'm making $10 from him being on our line. Lololol

I have 5 phones on my plan. 4 are upgrade eligible right now. One comes eligible in Sept. Im going to get a Note 8 with that one.
Im on a business plan that has some outstanding features. Its the only reason I am on Verizon.
I miss my AT&T local rates in the Caribbean.

What are the benefits to having the Business plan for you?
Pre ordered the Verizon S8+ in midnight black from Best Buy. There was a glitch during my order, so far it seems like my order will be honored for $25.83 a month.. I'm keeping a close eye on it.
Any one of you going to take advantage of the other special promotions that Costco has? They throw in a free Samsung Level U bluetooth headset. I could probably take these extra accessories to turn around and sell them for money back. Hmm...
none of you are interested in root?
i pre-orded mine from samsung directly but since the unlocked version is coming out like a month later i might cancel my order.

I use to do that almost right out of the box. I think once I got handy with the Note 5 and Nova Launcher, it took care of 90% of what I was trying to accomplish.
There are so many apks out there that handle the brunt of what I've been doing I just don't see the need.
... Even more so after using my iPhone 7 Plus. This locked down ecosystem is driving me ****ing nuts.
never mind just read they are all locked bootloaders unless you get a the exynos version, so the international version/non cdma.
hoping samsung ships them early, i pre-ordered at midnight. im replacing my trusty note 5 thats dying.

i looked at all the purchase outlets and buying from Samsung directly does mean you'll get it sooner than anyone not buying directly from Samsung.
By one day. 4/20 if u bought direct from Samsung, 4/21 for everyone else.

nice, hope they do honor that for u. same thing happened during my order, 25.83 was the price for S8, not the plus, but they corrected it to 29.
Thanks. Who made the correction in your price? I agreed to an installment plan that states $25.83 for the S8+. I've also called best buy a few times over my order. Apparently, there were others, like yourself that ran into this glitch. I was asked to forward on my confirmation email to the main supervisor. He just wanted to verify my order went through properly. There was no mention of the price difference after my order was reviewed. So I brought it up and he said that I was lucky and ended up with a great deal. Today I stopped in BB to mess with the + again and asked an employee to pull up my order. I saw it right on the screen so I think I'm ok. Until the phone is actually in my hand then I'll be relieved and can move on. Until then I'm feeling like my order is kinda tainted and there may be a chance for a mistake. I will keep following the progress and show that I agreed to an installment plan. I can't believe they can change it because I agreed to it and placed my order. However it turns out I'm excited for 4/21!

Forgot to add that the S8 is $27.91 on BB. So I'm not sure why Verizon lowered it to $25.83. I have screenshots of every step of the way. Fingers crossed.

i placed my order at Best Buy and not online, so the rep did the order for me. he was reading things off and for a moment he thought he put the wrong phone in (S8 instead of the S8+) but confirmed he got the right phone. unfortunately for me he stopped and did some key punching and it went back to the 29 price, which is the adjusted price after their $100 off promo.

I just walked into a att store just to check out some cases and get some information on when I will be able to update / trade in my note 3... I walked out with $15 off my monthly bill! They have a promotion going on right now. Go check it out yourself.

It's not a promotion it's their new Mobile Share Value plan. Every Next device, device that's completed a two-year contract, and customer owned device receives $15 off the monthly device charge. Here's the catch. While the prices for the data packages remain the same (Mobile Share<>Mobile Share Value) the cost per subsidized device on the Value plan goes up $10. So if you a subsidized device and a non-subsidized device on the same plan you'll end up saving $5 ($-15 non-subsidized device $+10 subsidized device = $-5). I have two non-subsidized devices and my monthly charges dropped $30.
Thanks for the info. I will go into an AT&T Store, over the weekend, and see if I can benefit from this. I have a Note 3 that was given to me by Best Buy, as an insurance replacement. I'm not knowledgeable, but doesn't that mean I own the device?? I talked to AT&T this even, by coincidence, seeing what they could do to lower my monthly bill. I mentioned switching over to T-Mobile, and the offers started pouring in. I got six months free unlimited texting, my bill for this month was reduced by almost half, and I was given 5,000 extra rollover minutes! The retentions rep was also going to give me an early upgrade on the spot, somehow not realizing I already owned a really new phone. It would be cool to see if I can also get this $15/mo off of my bill, too!
Here's a comparison of the new vs. old Mobile Share plans. I don't think the old one's offered any longer. You can see that the new pricing can save you money under certain circumstances and cost you money in others. The old plan lowered the monthly price you paid per device based added to the plan with larger data plans being charged lower monthly device fees. The new plan is flat.
That was a game changer what T - Mobile announced at CES... I'm staying with att though. After 7 years of sprint and horrible service att has been very good to me. Plus the service is outstanding in my area

So what does this mean?
if you have a phone out of contract you can save money? If you upgrade your phone the usual way with the 2 year contract they charge you a little more...and if you go with the next plan what happens?
thanks sorry for the ignorance but the post to me isnt 100% clear

Still confused, myself. Talked to someone at AT&T last night. They were really apprehensive about entertaining my question about this plan, as I only have a single line. There's a lot of conflicting information out there. I've literally seen some reports which state that if you only have a single line of service, and you either own your device or are off contract, AT&T will automatically move you to this Mobile Share Value Plan, and you save $15/month. However, I've seen other reports that mention this plan is only really beneficial for multiple lines of service. And, the AT&T rep I spoke to, also backed up the latter. She stated it would cost more for a person with a single line, in the long run, so she doesn't recommend that plan to people like me. So, I don't know what to believe. Details seem really sketchy and all over the place.
didn't save me any money because i have too many lines to benefit. AT&T already discounts each line as you add more and more. switching to this actually increased the cost for some of my lines from $30 to $40 so it offset the savings of switching to the $15/line plan. YMMV
I still don't know why anyone in their right mind would sign up for the next promotion.

In case your one of those people who like to keep current tech. With this plan you can get the newest phone each year and not have to be on a two year contract or pay a large amount up front for the phone.

You "own" your device. You are still under the terms of the contract you signed when you purchased the original phone. The phone you got as a replacement "junk out" does qualify as a phone purchased as full price. The $15 off per month only applies to AT&T Mobile Share Value Plans, it sounds like you are on the old Minute plans. You are getting a better deal with the promo that AT&T is giving you now, switching plans would could potentially cost you more.
I hope this is helpful.
Also check out this website:

It breaks down the different plans AT&T offers and thankfully it's closer to plain english.

No, he is still under a contract for the previous device. Once the 2 years from the device he purchased originally from Best Buy is over then he would qualify for the $15 off with the new mobile share value plans. As of right now he is still "paying" for the original device as device costs are built into the old AT&T plans.
I hope this clears that up a bit, if not let me know.

Its really a great deal. Nothing down and your plan drops 15 bucks a month to 25 per line and whatever the days is. We have have 10 gigs where we used to pay 120 for it 10 GB has gone down to 100. Each line that is on the next plan goes down to 25 a month from 40 a month.
I thank T-Mobile for keeping he pressure on them

I guess it appears anyone who takes PRE-orders is good.
According to the above - are ALL US verizon wireless stores participating retailers?
I ask because I have a government account.. and I've "pre ordered" for 299 - I get a 100 dollar credit for upgrading and from above it sounds like all I have to do is walk into a verizon store and trade in a phone.
Does it have to be a verizon phone? Or would a sprint phone work too?
If it has to be verizon - what phones are you guys getting to trade in? I'll have to buy one somewhere.
What other stores are participating?

Looking on Verizon's website it looks as if they will accept any phone from any carrier. As far as going into any Verizon store and being able to trade it in for cash I am not sure, but imagine they all the corporate stores are capable of doing so.
What I am more interested in is what other retailers count. I have an old HTC Aria that I received free when Alltel merged with AT&T that is almost like new. If I go to Verizon's website to get an estimated value it is rated at $0 dollars trade in. However, if I trade it in to Amazon it is worth more than the $10 dollar minimum a phone needs to take advantage of the $200 dollar deal.

Interesting, I just went to verizons site and got 9 dollars as the trade in value. Sigh.
wow it's great one :good:
I don't see anywhere on the Samsung rebate website where it says you have to preorder a phone through a contract with carrier. I think Verizon may require that because they handle the rebate for you.
The Samsung website clearly says if you preorder from BestBuy, you cannot submit for the rebate yourself.
I am ordering from Amazon, full price, and I plan on submitting paperwork for this rebate. I turned in an old phone for $10 to Amazon. If you preorder from Amazon and have store credit you may be able to finance the full price phone at 0 interest for 6 months as well. The rebate is first come first serve and it is not as sweet as an instant rebate from Best Buy or a carrier. I don't know for sure it will work but after reading the small print, I don't see why it would not.
The main thing the rebate stipulates is that the phone has to be purchased as a preorder and the trade in have a minimum $10 value.
FYI-there is a lot of press out there that the phone will be immediately discounted in November to drive up sales.
But that press was generated before Verizon pre-orders sold out. Waiting always saves you money.
I cannot wait any longer for this phone. I am down to one working old android with a cracked digitizer.
I figure even if this phone isn't all that and the new Galaxy 6 comes out in April or a waterproof Note comes out in December, I can always recoup something by reselling this fairly new device.

wonder if you can fudge the trade in receipt to $10, if you are applying for the rebate directly (not through Verizon).
I dont' see how Samsung can check that. I think they can just verify that you traded in a phone and whether or not you preordered.

FAQ
There is an FAQ now linked at the bottom of the Promotion website page (cant post a link). It is two pages long and does clarify some of the rules, but not all. It does tell you what a 'Participating Retailer" is. Basically any physical or online retailer taking Pre-orders.
It also goes into more details on the Best Buy rules. Such as a 2 year activation is required.

At this point I'm just going to order it off of the b2b verizon wireless site. Cost is 299. Then you get a 99 dollar credit on your bill, bringing it down to 200. I'm going to trade in a sprint galaxy nexus to amazon and hope that they honor the deal. If they do, that means a note 4 for free! Then Whatever my current note 3 sells for on ebay is just the icing on the cake!!
I currently have unlimited data. What would be the best method of keeping my ULD while upgrading and taking advantage of this promo? If I wanted to do it at Best Buy, I would have to avoid going in the store entirely. Amazon, then?
I went ahead and sold my Note 3 for $350. Not a bad deal :silly:
Im on a govenment account as well.
I called and they sent me a padded envelope to put the phone in.
I sent in a AT&T iPhone 4 and got $65
Im waiting for the note 4 to arrive so I can get the rest of the $200 from Samsung.

Yeah that's my predicament. I am buying it full price on Amazon. It's the cheapest I found for an off contract price.
If you have an Amazon Store Credit, you can defer the payment 12 months without interest, So maybe apply for one before purchasing. I am hoping to get the price reduced by receiving a check from Samsung from their preorder promotional rebate by preording and trading in an old phone. Look at the deadline dates for that promotion, if you want to participate.
You could also go to Verizon, and see if they will cut you a deal in exchange for giving up your unlimited data, like 6GB for your current monthly bill total. That is if you really don't use the unlimited data.
A Verizon rep, told me even though we are grandfathered in, Verizon at any time can renigg on the unlimited data because they could say that the ULD was for 3G not 4G data service. I think they have their ULD customers reduced down to 20% or less now.
The other way is to wait longer and buy one used off Swappa. But if you go for the upgrade, you lose your unlimted data. They closed the loophole where you could transfer upgrades on a new family plan to the old ULD customer.

Yes you can, I assumed that your sister phone is due for upgrade. When your sister received the phone, just registered with her number for 24 hrs. After that switch her number back to her old phone, then take the new phone and register under your number.

OK forgive me if this has been answered CLEARLY but can somebody tell me how to pre order at full retail from Verizon and get the 200$ promo? Its so many conflicting statements here and I don't wanna fool with upgrade switching. Etc I just wanna get my 200 off and buy it from Verizon retail price.

I am going to be upgrading to the Note 4 via VZW Edge. I'm rooted and Rom'd and was wondering if you guys would think I'd need to go back to stock before giving my device in. I'm not doing warranty or anything like that so I don't see a reason they'd possibly be upset with anything? Anyway, thought I'd ask the folks.

I'd say it depends on the service rep. Some may check your phone and give you a hard time, others won't even check which was my experience. If you're nervous about it, remove Safestrap and Odin back to stock.
I am thinking I might just do it anyway to make sure I have a good wipe.
The Verizon Edge plans are a rip-off. Your better off going the regular contract upgrade route and selling the phone off when you want a new one.
Do the math...
I see Verizon Note3 Is going for 4-5 hundred on swappa.

hah, yeah right. You're more likely to get $300-350 for it. Just because people are asking $400-500 for theirs doesn't mean it's going to sell.

Really depends on what plan your on. If you are on a legacy plan (like me with unlimited data) it is a terrible deal. If you are on the more everything with 10gb of data so you get the $25 discount, it is a great deal.
With the the discount the phone would cost about $5 more a month with no upfront cost. Over 24 months that would be $120. The traditional upgrade would cost you $299.99 plus the upgrade fee.

Yeah. The discounts essentially negate the cost of having a top of the line phone, which WAS upgraded once a year, now 18 months on the new Edge.... but still..... for people who like to keep in a top end device it's still a good deal.

Lets see.. If I want a single line for the SG5 retailed at $599.99, Individual plan starting at $60/mo unlimited talk+text 1GB
Two Year Contract:
Price for the phone - $199.99
Taxes: $47.92 (599.99 x .08)
Upgrade fee - $30
Total Today: $276.92
Per month: $60
If I multiply this by 24 months (and adding what I need to pay today)...60x24+276.92 = $1,716.92
Edge:
Price for the phone - $0
Price for edge - $25
Taxes: $47.92
Upgrade fee - $0
Total Today: $47.92
Per month: $60 (minus 15) = $45 + $25 = $70/mo
If I multiply this by 24 months (and adding what I need to pay today)... 70x24+47.92= $1,727.92
Doing the edge is roughly $10 more big deal. For some people, they don't want to dish out $200 on a contract and rather paying it slowly, thus edge. As for selling your device to get some extra cash, once you're done with edge you OWN the device. Early edge on the other hand requires you do return the device to cancel your contract and converting it to month to month.
To the OP: I think you should wipe and switch back to stock, you never know what may happen and they could deny your phone which then maybe cause you to pay for the phone you turn in as well.
Verizon reps do not pay attention. Once the phone is in their possession there is nothing Verizon can do in regards to "charging you for a rooted phone". All Verizon will do anyway is reflash, clean it up and resell as a refurbished phone.

Yes in fact they can. If they find the software overly modded its 300 bucks. too much wear or a cracked screen 300 bucks. And the charge will just show up on your account. Also the reps do not get the phone the refurb center does and they do check them out.

Not if you have unlimited data and still want a new device. I got the note 3 and will pay $320 after one year; I'll trade it in and get something new. I don't get to keep the device, but I never kept mine anyway, so I don't recoup my initial cost. If you have the means and unlimited data, it's a good deal/way to get a new device.
But if you keep the device for 2 years in EDGE, you're not using the program correctly. All the Verizon reps I've spoken with have said as much.
Tax is calculated from the full $770 which is 53.9
12.08 per month credit is after 2-3 cycles which is 24.16 to 36.24 more.
32.08 per month*3 months+20.08per month*21 months=517.92
The difference in tax adds to the total price:
53.9-(517.92*.07)=17.6456
17.6456+20 upgrade fee=37.6456
517.92+37.6456=555.5656
The difference in total price between full price and Verizon's:
770-555.5656=214.4344
I think I'm going to do it although I really wanted project fi to begin with but this is some awesome price difference.
Please share your thoughts about it.
You will get 24 credits, regardless of when they kick in.
Tax is definitely on the full retail price, though.
My promotion says that I could get a pixel or pixel xl "free" with a trade in. But I'm on an employer discount plan so I'm not sure if that makes a difference. It says I would get 24 months worth of credits towards my bill in 2-3 cycles.

This may seem obtuse, but the deciding factor on whether this is a good deal or not depends on how much mobile data you consume per month. If you're a heavy data user, than this is a good deal for you. If you use a lot less data than your plan, then a full price phone from Fi plus their pay as you go plan will prove to cost less over the long run.

Mine says the same thing, but I tried to do it online and it only gave me so much for the trade in. Hardly worth what you could sell on swappa or online. Is there a catch on which trade in you have or is it supposed to be any trade in. I tried the Note 3 and S5 and there was hardly any worth there. I have a Note 4, but dropped it and it went black. Still turns on, but can't use it...
Traded in Note 4
This deal seemed pretty good to me.
I just ordered one and traded in my Note 4. They valued it at $569.99 trade-in value.
So I got the Pixel XL 128GB, which they are running a promotion on today. Normally it is $36.47 and today it is $25.00.
$36.47 - $11.47 = $25.00 for phone
$569.99 / 24 months = $23.75 trade-in credit
$25.00 - $23.75 = $1.25 a month
So I'm going to pay $1.25 a month , assuming they give me full credit (the shiny strips on the sides are kinda worn).
Also $60 in tax and $20 activation. It still seems like a really good deal to me.
And to answer OP's question, I am almost 99% sure they double or triple your credits (depending on whether it is 2 or 3 cycles) on the first cycle you get your credit.

Maybe not, because if your area like mine here, Sprint signal + Tmobile signal = basically no signal as there is absolutely no tmobile signal for 30 miles here, and sprint is week here and At&t is edge data until you go 6 miles one way or go about 18 miles the other way. So many places there is no signal if your not on verizon. I hate it but its the truth. Most rural areas have basically no tmobile coverage and sprint and at&t have less than verizon.

Actually someone could save a lot of money by buying from google then putting the pixel xl on total wireless which is a verizon mvno then pay $35 a month for unl talk & text plus 5 gigs of verizon lte data throttled to 5 mbps down and 2 up, or get 2 lines for $60 with 8 gigs or 4 lines for $100 cant remember how much lte you get on that plan.
Or buy unlimited talk & text for $25 a month then add 3 gigs of data for $10 when you need it and that is roll over data keep account active and data never expires where it does on the other plans that include data.
Also all plans you get a 5% discount if you use auto pay so that pretty much covers the taxes saving the 5% with auto pay.
This plan gives better coverage than FI and for less money. Most people the throttled speed is really un noticeable at least it was for me but then again I download rom files and such at home on wifi.

Lousy crap though if they had included the sd card slot I would need the 128 because 32 gig would have been fine with my sd card being usable. Google just screwed me on the no sd card slot deal. Beginning to think google is learning from verizon how to screw over their customers

best buy has the Pixel at $10/m to match Verizon
Pretty bummed I missed out on this deal, not sure Google/Verizon will run another promo with it so heavily backordered.
We'll see, I'd really love to join the ranks!
I haven't seen anybody talk about the line access fee. I am an existing customer with VZ and not on contract. My line access fee is $20. With a new contract, line access goes to $40 a month for 24 months, adding $480.
So with $15 a month for the XL = $360 plus the $480 for additional line access fee + $59 in taxes, that's $899?
I didn't include a trade-in discount either. This doesn't seem like a good deal, or is my math incorrect
Sent from my Nexus 6 that thinks it's a Pixel XL
If you're like me, you've been waiting to buy the Pixel 2 to see if the price drops. VZW has been offering to give folks 50% off if they trade in CERTAIN devices (mostly ones that are less than a year old).
For Black Friday, VZW is again offering 50% off WITHOUT a trade-in.... BUT, you must switch to their unlimited plan. For those that are already on the unlimited plan, this is a good deal.
But the idea is that VZW is trying to get folks that are not unlimited to move to their unlimited plan.
In my situation, I share 3 GB/month with my wife (got a bonus 1 GB, so really 4GB) for $45/month. I then pay $20/month per line for a total of $85/month (2 lines). we have never gone over 4 GB, so there is no advantage for us to go unlimited.
If we go to the unlimited plan, we would have to pay $65/month per line for a total of $130/month.
The Pixel 2 50% off is spread out over 24 months in bill credits after I pay the full retail price up front. In doing so, VZW will credit me $13.50/month. And in order to keep receiving the credits, you have to remain on the unlimited plan for the duration.
So in essence, I'd be paying $45/month EXTRA just to save $13.5.
Over the span of 24-months, I would have paid $1080 in fees, netting $325 from the "promo", thus paying an extra $755.
Conversely, I can just buy the Pixel 2 outright for $650. My understanding is that Black Friday is supposed to give discounts, not ways for folks to pay more than retail.
Even if they offered the Pixel 2 for free, then I would still say now as I would be out $430 just to get unlimited data that I don't use.
understood that everyone's situation is different, but hoping that this will give folks some pause before considering buying from VZW. and I normally have no issues with VZW, but now I do.

Great post and entirely correct. I've been on the phone with VZW each day for the past few discussing this issue. Even the reps who were waiting for bf deals are in a bind. The only way even they could get the deals they want is to upgrade to unlimited.
Now that being said there are some deals to be made depending on your history with them. For instance, if you go to automatic billing there is a discount of around $25 / month. You might also be able to get further discounts if you push a little. I'm on a much larger plan than you are and after all was said and done the unlimited (which will give me hotspot too) will be costing me about $10 / month more over my current plan. But over the life of the plan that is still $600 for phone and plan and almost the cost of the device outright. But I will get unlimited and hotspot so it's probably worth it since I did bump up against my limit a month or so ago.
I'm not sure why they are doing this since as you said, this is not a deal for those that don't need unlimited. If you already are on it then it's an easy decision. Now the only caveat possibly is that in the future the unlimited plan will drop in price and you can take advantage of it without losing the promotion. But that's just wishful thinking. Verizon might need to rethink this deal when it doesn't get the customers that bf usually gets.

right. and just last year, their BF promo (for my wife's iPhone, and I think for the Pixel 1) was simply $450 off - no trade in, no plan change - just they issue you the rebate in monthly installments (which I'm fine with, as this is essentially a 2-year contract).
so I was greatly disappointed that the same promo is not available this year. hopefully, they'll adjust in the coming weeks.
but I, too, called and complained - even made the sales reps realize that it doesn't make sense for me to switch. I essentially asked them to give me a reason why I should buy it from them and not from Google. best response I got was, "they don't waive the activation fee".

but I, too, called and complained - even made the sales reps realize that it doesn't make sense for me to switch. I essentially asked them to give me a reason why I should buy it from them and not from Google. best response I got was, "they don't waive the activation fee".

I just don't know what they are thinking other than getting everyone on unlimited plans. I'd take that but they needed to do something else like upgrade to unlimited and free phone, or if you have unlimited then half off phone. Naturally that doesn't make much sense but I will not let up on them. I'll go for it but it won't be the last they hear from me.
I have a call coming in Friday for the order but let's see what pops up tomorrow. I just don't think there are very many happy campers. If Google gives 200 bucks off it's a different ball game. But they won't. If the Mrs didn't need another phone desperately I'd hold off thru the new year. This is s bunch of crap imo.

$25 off for auto pay? That can't be right, or at least not that simple. For a family plan or something, minimum of 4 lines?

I have 5 lines but yeah, $25 off with autopay. That's what she told me yesterday and I'll know for certain tomorrow morning when I do the order. I will let you know for sure.

That sounds like $5/line which is what I though I read too.

Oh... so that's what it is. Then I got an extra $15 / month but don't know why. I think she said I had a good record or something. I didn't question her too hard hoping she was just doing a good deed. As I said, I'll know for sure in a few hours. If she doesn't call then I'll know I've been had. Won't be the first or last time. Bottom line, I won't pay over 10 bucks extra / month + the $375 for the device. I'd just get the Google version for 650 and be done with it. Or keep my Pixel for another year.
BTW, Black Friday sucks this year. It's really black Thursday morning. Had some stuff in my cart, went to check out after looking for a little bit more and the stuff was removed as not available any longer. What a joke. Couple of Best Buy things and jeans at a great price at another store. Ridiculous.

Ok, just got off with the rep. You are right, it's $5 / line discount plus she gave me an extra $15 / month off because I'm a good customer I think. In store pickup later today, 64gb version almost blue. Bottom line is that I'll be paying about $20 / month more for the Pixel 2 with unlimited vs my old 12gb plan and I have hotspot to boot. I think that's a pretty good deal for the phone.
My wife gets rid of her S5 finally and inherits the Pixel which surprisingly is bootloader unlockable. (switch is toggled although I don't bl unlock anyway) Wondering if when I switch the device to her line they'll make it grayed out. Not a big deal either way. I think if I leave the switch to on then even when I activate her account it will remain on as long as I set her up on wifi first. We'll see.
Oh one more thing.. they waived the $30 activation fee too. Plus I think I'll get about $45 for her phone once I send it in. Pristine condition so I should get something. All in all a pretty good BF morning so far. Still pissed about my laptop fiasco at Best Buy and my jeans but you can't win 'em all.

Went with the S8. $350 off at Best buy. So far, so good. Larger battery, 3.5mm jack, wireless charging, and able to root (although have not done it yet). Plus, I get to keep my plan. I'm going to ask them to waive the upgrade fee too.
Doubt I'll come back here unless the pixel 2 is offered for free.
So wishing you and everyone else all the best.
I too was disappointed by Verizon's black friday deals (and really everyone else's also more or less). However, I had a very weird experience with VZW...
I got on their website Thursday mid-morning to just see what a Pixel 2 would cost if I went unlimited, bought it normally, etc. I added it to my cart and went through the checkout process, but it never actually prompted me to upgrade to unlimited. The only option I even saw was keeping my existing plan, which is the Verizon Plan 4GB.
When I got to the final checkout screen, my monthly total for the phone itself showed $13.50 and my plan still showed the 4GB plan. So, I went ahead and put the order through. When I got the receipt, it too listed the $13.50 monthly price.
So, I have documentation FROM Verizon giving me a Pixel 2 for $13.50/mo without going unlimited.
That said, I suspect they will conveniently "forget" to apply the actual credits to my account each month and I'll have to fight them tooth and nail to get anything. But hey, I have screenshots and a receipt proving that they "goofed" and I see no legal standing for them not honoring it. /shrug

Very jealous.
I tried that same approach on multiple times, but to no avail. Perhaps did you indicate that you were trading in your current device? So make sure you do not owe them a device you don't have.
The deal prior to Friday was trade in an eligible device to get a certain % off (up to 50%) with no need to adjust your plan.
The deal on Friday was to up your plan to unlimited, but no trade in required.
As for me, Best buy offered the Samsung Galaxy S8 for $350 off with no strings attached. So I got it. Pretty happy so far.
Looks like VZW is finally offering g $300 off the pixel 2. Only stipulation is that you must pay in full up front, and then VZW will issue you bill credits over 24 months.
I would have been fine with this had I not already got my S8.

So are they charging the full amount up front or over the course of 24 months? The way it worked for me on black Friday was that I was charged the monthly $27 and then a credit applied for $13 each month. Is this the same or different?

So it looks they're advertising it to be $14.58/month, so perhaps no payment upfront.
I told a friend that bought 2 of them a few weeks ago, and they were able to return it and get the new price. But he did not open them yet.

Yeah, that makes more sense. They lock you in to a 2 year contract kind of because you can't pay it off. If you want to then you have to pay the full amount of $650 even if it's a month away from the end of 2 years.
Now what they should do is anyone who purchased within the return period of 15 days I think it is, charge them the $35 restocking fee (which your friend will probably have to pay for each returned device) and give them the discount without having to return the device.

I don't think he paid the restocking fee since he never opened them.
Still contemplating on returning/selling my S8 for this deal.
But then I'd give up a bigger battery, wireless charging, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Even for the fee it's worth it. Still saves 265 bucks.
Now to your situation.. the battery on the pixel 2 is great and on the XL even better. I don't think that should be of major concern unless you live in the boonies with no access to power for 24 hours. Wireless charging? Haven't had that since my N5 and miss it only for nostalgia. Headphone? Agree.. but get a good wireless pair and use the adapter for the current ones.
But this is a personal choice you need to make and I'm no one to make judgment either way. I really don't think you can go wrong no matter what you decide.

hoping you're right. i'd prefer the bloatless google version, but those 3 items are deal-breakers for me. i came from the moto droid turbo, which had all of those (3900 mAh battery). so I didn't want to give up any of those items. wireless charging is such bonus. however, if the pixel 3 has wireless charging and a bigger battery, then I'll consider switching next year.
I presume we'll get the same offers as this year - as I see a pattern forming with VZW:
- early October/November: offer $100 off
- late November: offer $300 off with a trade in
- black friday: something stupid to boost their quota
- week after black friday: offer more reasonable deals
