Does the s8 have the edge features that the s7e had? They mentioned that the edge was less this year so what can it do? How do the notifications work? Can the edges pulsate and animate colors? Is that only when the phone is face down?
S8 will have Same features like s7e Just they made some modification and updated some apps thats it. both s7 and s8 have 7.0 nougat you also can install s8 apps when they are available to public
Night clock still there?

The really should have stuck with a proper independent Edge screen like the original Note Edge.

I've ordered a new note edge... Primarily because of that independent Edge screen. Makes life so much easier with a big phone.

Are there 3rd party apps that let you do more with the edge like illuminate them when face up
I saw a demo unit and the edge lighting settings implies it works face up
Is it possibile to launch Tasker tasks from the edge panel on S7/S8? I looked for info but couldn't find a clear answer.
@Chronocento
There is an app for shortcuts, apps, direct dial etc in Samsung App store for edge. I'm using it with a S6.

As above poster. Also you could export anything Tasker-made as an app and just use it in the apps edge panel.

So I noticed that when I set a photo to use as my lockscreen wallpaper that it looks super dull and washed out. I use the fingerprint lock, so I went into settings and set it to swipe. Well the picture looks perfectly vivid and bright on the lockscreen now. But when I switch back to fingerprint it gets dull.
Can anyone else replicate this bug? If so, what is the cause of this?!

Just tested it and I cant tell any difference. I'm not using a stock wallpaper on lockscreen tho...
Sorry

I'm not using stock either. You won't notice it with stock image, just custom. It's a slight dullness when using the fingerprint unlock.

Yep. It is like this on the s6 as well but not as noticeable bc of the smaller screen size. That's really annoying now bc i want more security my picture quality goes down the drain! Thanks for confirming.

I keep my s7 edge unlocked with my Gear S2 watch, but all the Screen Off apps activate pass code sign in when turning the screen back on. Is this a Marshmallow limitation? Thanks.

Id say no to that, as it was the last update to our phones that activated this problem, it wasn't there before!

I have this and is OK. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.iglint.android.screenlockpro
Just check the box with Marshmallow and Lollipop in app's settings.

This one works with gestures on Nova and does not require passcode after using it (the screen goes black and there is a 4 second delay to actually lock the screen):

Nova with root access instead of admin access does not ask for pin/passcode and can login with fingerprint

I thought it worked, but it just puts the screen to sleep while the phone is still active underneath and won't actually turn off the phone

The screen turn off and the phone will lock n sleep after about 4s. It won't stay awake. You actually don't have any other choice except if u wanna use the power button or root. This is a marshmallow security feature.

Nova with root works great[emoji4] no pin, passcode or password is needed. Just only fingerprint [emoji4]

Just an observation coming from Note 3 , Note 4 and last phone LG V10 which was IPS display.
The current handset T Mobile Edge S6+ does not seem to be as sharp per se in image quality, meaning its not as crisp of an image ( notable when reading ) compared to what I was expecting. I'm guessing this is normal, anyone come from a Note 3 or 4 and care to chime in?
I came from note 3 and before that i had s4.
I feel s6 edge+ is better than them.

True, i think it was my eyes getting used to amoled again. One before was LG v10 IPS.
Only thing i don't like is the tiny system fonts example LTE icon and so forth.

Yes, its smaller than what I'm used to also notification are smaller. Increasing font size doesn't effect it.

Short answer - My best friend buy S7E and we compared this two devices. The conclusion is S6E+ is better in screen, camera, overall beauty.
Hi, I have a little bug on my Samsung S7 edge that I had on my S4, S5, S6 and now on my S7 edge.
As you can see in the images attached the layout of the notification bar constantly changes(stock and Good Lock). I think that is something like a little bug, this is a little bit annoying for me...
Do you know if there is a way to send this issue to the Samsung Developer Team?
Thank you!
Could be to help prevent amoled burn in.

he meant that the background is not completely dark as it should be!
there can be several reasons for that.
years ago AMOLED screens always had a faint glow when powered on (even if displaying pure black). Samsung got rid of this with some optimizations...
in this case I guess it's a driver problem!
