Thanks to the guides on these forums, I've unlocked the bootloader, installed twrp and rooted. Now I'm trying to get my tasker/securesettings automation working again. However, whenever I have securesettings activate the hotspot, the device reboots.
Some of the other securesettings capabilities appear to be working, but perhaps securesettings isn't fully working on the moto g5 plus yet? Any ideas for how to start troubleshooting this?
Much thanks!
Ben
PS. Coming from a moto x 2014 the g5 plus battery life is a revelation!
Sorry to post and then answer my own question so quickly, but I worked around the problem by using the tasker function to turn on/off wifi tethering, without using the securesettings function.
Several other securesettings functions appear to be working, including reboot (automated restart once a week). I'll post an update if I run into any other issues!
Thanks again to everyone for the great guides that have helped me get the g5 plus properly setup so soon after launch!

Hi, guys. Hope you can help...
We have two xda execs on o2. The first is fine - no real probs. On the second, wifi and bluetooth keep activating themselves and are a drain on the battery.
I can't seem to turn it off - The turn on wifi and bluetooth boxes are checked in settings even though I unchecked them half an hour ago when I last turned off bluetooth and wi-fi.
Am I missing something obvious?
Thanks
I would gladly swap for my XDA which keeps switching Bluetooth OFF! lol.
Sorry, I couldn't help from posting given that a significant number of XDA users have the complete opposite problem..
Other than that, I can't help you. I assume you're not running any third party software on there to monitor BT / WiFi ?
Not sure which is worse!
I'm not running any monitoring software.
gaspx: didn't you resolve it yet!?

@Vijay, nearly! -- I think ozBT is going to be the saviour for my XDA, but today it was my BT headset which had stopped working(!!);
Actually, come to think of it, ozBT will also switch off BT / Wifi, so you could do worse than downloading that Goldie..

Although i'd be more inclined to look at what software you have installed on your Exec and try and find out which, if any, has BT/WiFi hooks that may be turning them on automagically.
Failing that, Hard Reset the whole thing (after a backup is taken of course..) and see whether the problem is still happening on a fresh device.
Hi guys, I need you to help me with my N4 because as it is said in the title, the wireless connection has left working (since yesterday).
I'll put you in situation: Yesterday just after touching the icon to open the navigator (waze) the device showed an "interference" on the screen and turned off. It was difficult (at least 10 tries before working) to restart the phone, and that interference was again on the screen at the begining of the first seen of the deskboard(you know, the main screen with the widgets and all this kind of things). When I came home 4h after this strange happening I realize that the Wi-Fi didn't work.
This morning I've been trying some things like shutting down the device for around and hour and try again, disabling the NFC or restoring the default settings but no one of these tries has worked so... I'm worried.
The device runs Android 4.2.2, never has been rooted or flashed or something like that.
Can you help me with this trouble?
You can't connect to a wifi network or you can't activate the wifi module?

I can't activate the module. Anyway, I've been speaking with Google's support and it is possible that it has been caused by an short-circuit on the mainboard so they're going to change the device for a new one (thanks to the warranty).
Thank you very much for your interest.
Just wanted to share my personal experience in hope it will help someone else out there as well.
Problems with wi-fi appeared on my rooted N9005 out of the blue.
"Your wi-fi connection is unstable" message followed by complete halt of wi-fi. I read the forums, tried this and that, different firmwares - nothing. Annoying as it was, I gave up on the matter as it was impossible for me to solve at the time. The only band-aid was resetting my router and restarting my Note 3. Then it would work only for a limited time, until when it just wouldn't work anymore.
As a desperate move I tried disabling my AdBlock Plus app. And then a truly wtf moment - everything started working flawlessly. My wi-fi connection is rock solid. :silly:
Well, it didn't seem obvious to me, but then again I AM a newbie. Perhaps you android veterans already had this app on your radar. But listing through forums I never once encountered this as a possible fix, hence I'm sharing this here.
Hopefully it will do the trick for some of you.
Best of luck.
@superdragonpt Due to the fact that I'm not allowed to post to the original
ROM thread, I'm providing my feedback via this channel.
I've successfully updated my phone to the latest AOSP 7.1.1 stable8 ROM with Gapps nano. Although most of the phone functions are working very well and maybe a little bit faster, there some smaller issues which I want to report or maybe ask for a solution:
1. From time to time the phone seems to freeze and then reboots with the
requirement to enter the SIM pin again. I've not yet identified a fixed schema
which my help to identify the root cause of the problem. Any tips how I can
solve this problem are appreciated.
2. The WIFI connection to 2.4/5 GHz access points seems to be worse than
with the old Android 5 image. I've read that other users have experienced
the same problem but a solution hasn't been provided yet.
3. The camera problems have already been discussed in another thread. So
I hope you will be able to fix it with the next stable release.
4. What I'm still missing is the option to choose between several audio profiles,
e.g. "silent", "normal", "loud" etc. It might be possible that I've not yet found
the option in the settings. If so, a tip how I can activate the feature would be
highly appreciated.
To 1: Today the phone freezed exactly as I selected a WIFI network and pressed the connect button. After a while it has rebooted automatically and I had to enter my SIM pin again.
[STABLE 10] Bugs I encountered
- NFC (Android Beam) file transfer error
- Bluetooth won't send/receive any .apk files
- High resolution video playback bug
- VPN connection does not tunnel to Built in browser, 3rd party app works.
- Hotspot breaks when turned on and off several times
- Wifi keeps disconnecting
- Idk if package installer in this build installs slower than previous ones
New members are not allowed to post reply on the original thread so I decided to report it here.
@jayjay1413 Might it be possible that you've mixed-up the phone types?
As far as I know a *stable10* doesn't exist for the Jiayu S3 Adv(ance) but
for the Jiayu S3 Plus.
Google Chromecast
Hi, using stable 8 I haven't been able to connect to my chromecast, I returned to the previous rom I was using (TFAndroid 2.54) that works perfectly for my S3 Advnace. I tried Nougat because I wanted the split screen featrure but for me chromecast connection is more important.
Hi guys.
Just a quick yuck question please. Is there a Unlock With WiFi root app for nougat? I won't the phone to lock when I'm out but not when I'm on home WiFi.
I was using xposed with gravity box and that worked well on MM.ive .I've tried trusted devices but they always need to be on, and home trusted devices means GPS needs to be on draining battery!
Any ideas please thank you

You could try Automate. If you can't write your own automated scripts for your phone (like me) there are lots of ones that are already written, including more than one to keep your phone unlocked when you are connected to a trusted WiFi network. I use it to turn GPS on when I open Google Maps and turn it back off when I close Maps.
