Just wanted to share my personal experience in hope it will help someone else out there as well.
Problems with wi-fi appeared on my rooted N9005 out of the blue.
"Your wi-fi connection is unstable" message followed by complete halt of wi-fi. I read the forums, tried this and that, different firmwares - nothing. Annoying as it was, I gave up on the matter as it was impossible for me to solve at the time. The only band-aid was resetting my router and restarting my Note 3. Then it would work only for a limited time, until when it just wouldn't work anymore.
As a desperate move I tried disabling my AdBlock Plus app. And then a truly wtf moment - everything started working flawlessly. My wi-fi connection is rock solid. :silly:
Well, it didn't seem obvious to me, but then again I AM a newbie. Perhaps you android veterans already had this app on your radar. But listing through forums I never once encountered this as a possible fix, hence I'm sharing this here.
Hopefully it will do the trick for some of you.
Best of luck.

Hey i have a 32B UK Vodafone Magic running Cyanogens 4.0.4 stable rom and have had the magic for about a month now.
For some reason my phone randomly loses connection - both 3G and 2G, the drop down notification will just say "No Service" and will only usually restore if i turn on- and off airplane mode.
There are also often times where ill be browsing the internet or the market and while it'll tell me i have 3G/2G, it wont actually "connect" and download/upload data e.g. the market will often tell me it has no connection and web pages will randomly not load, getting the "webpage cannot be found"-like error for no reason. wouldnt be such a bother but it seems to be a daily occurance that spoils an otherwise amazing device.
Is this a common problem? does anyone know how i can solve this if a solution is available (i thoguht it may be to upgrade the radio but i dont know how and ive heard its possible "brick-territory")
hope you guys can help
Hi there, this is getting to be a well known issue on the Vodafone technical forums.
http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=25796&st=0&start=0
have you read this and posted there?
Would be good from some feedback on here too from "the experts"
I'm having the same problems with my phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=556843
So far, turning off 3G has stopped it, but that's not really an acceptable long-term solution...
as you say, disabling 3g is not a solution to the problem encountered considering the device and its expected use, its connectivity should at least e stable.
i did not know about the thread on the vodafone forum and read through all of the posts, there didnt seem to be any strict correlation between the other guys devices and the problem itself, some had diff radios, some likely had flashed roms (but theyre not exactly going to mention that on a voda forum).
thanks for the help regardless, i think im going to do some testing of custom ROMs and some of the radios/SPLs to see if one of them may fix it. though again i dont think its a probplem that can be fixed from a ROM/android update alone
I've been having this issue too, i've gone through multiple roms in search of a fix, none of them solved it though. . .
Are you guys having any other issues coupled with this? My phone also won't autosync email anymore. No notifications, then i'll check manually it will find a slew of emails from earlier in the day. It's set to check every 5 minutes, but alas.
same here with a vodafone magic. I have this prob not only with 3g even with wifi. Turning wifi/3g on/off solves this issue. Its annoying though...
Hello,
If you don't want the boring details of how I discovered the problem feel free to skip the next couple of paragraphs and go straight to the technical details.
I got my first Android phone (Motorola Defy) a couple of weeks ago and at first I was only using it with wifi because my data plan wasn't activated yet. While playing with it a little I realised that I saw a lot less ads than my boyfriend on his 6 month old Defy. I thougt it was weird but, well, seeing less ads is not a big problem.
Then when I got my data plan I saw that when I wasn't home I saw a lot more ads, so I began to suspect it had to do with how my phone was connected to the internet : wifi or 3G.
Next I wanted to try out Astrid and when I tried to log in using my Google account it failed repeatedly. Until I disabled wifi and it logged in fine using 3G.
Then I installed RTÉ DocOnOne to listen to documentaries while falling asleep. When wifi is enabled, it cannot start up because it can't connect (network timeout). Over 3G, no problem.
At first I thought it was my router blocking ports or something but it happens with different wifi APs and more importantly my boyfriend's phone, connected to the same access point, loads everything without a problem.
Let's sum up:
Some apps can't access the network using wifi but work fine when using 3G.
It happens regardless of the wifi AP (tried 4 different ones with different routers) and another phone using the same app connected to the same wifi AP can access the network just fine.
If I initiate the connection using 3G then switch to wifi (typically I launch the app with 3G, switch wifi on without closing the app), it still works after that (RTE DocOnOne has no pb streaming the documentaries once it has launched)
My phone is a Motorola Defy, French retail ROM, not rooted, no motoblur account (skipped the configuration), Froyo 2.2.2 (already on the phone when I got it), system version (if that means anything to you) Version.34.164.3.MB525.Retail.en.FR, kernel 2.6.32.9-g050ccf2, build 3.4.2-164
I can't give as much details about my boyfriend's phone (that doesn't have the problem) because he's not here right now but I can tell you that it is a Motorola Defy too, French retail (I think) ROM, Froyo updated from preinstalled Eclair (using the official Motorola update), not rooted, with a motoblur account
I have no idea if that's relevant or not, but my phone has the "google maps 5.7.0 crashes on Defy" issue (18446 in the android issue tracker) and my boyfriend's phone hasn't.
Has anyone encountered this issue before ? I couldn't find anything on this forum or with a google search.
Is there any tool I can use to try and find the cause of the problem ?
Thank you for reading all this, sorry if my message was long but I wanted to give as much detail as possible to help the nice people who may find what is wrong with my phone
I didn't read all..
but if your phone don't have problems then check this:
1. go to settings
2. Select "Location & security settings"
3. enable this "Use wireless networks" Location determined by WiFi and/or mobile networks
4. test does it work...
Hello manumanfred,
I did what you suggested (actually it was already checked) and the problem is still there (tried unchecking it too).
I am not sure why you suggested it, was that related to some phones having wifi problems in some countries ? I read a thread about that when I was researching my problem but it is different. In my case, wifi works most of the time, but some requests always time out.
Thanks for trying
Anyone else has an idea of something I could try ?

Hello, did you solve the issue?
Hi all,
I've been using Samsung Note 2 since November 2012 and have never ever had any problems in operating Wi-fi.
However, suddenly, today morning, the wi-fi has stopped working in my office. What happens is the connection process breaks down at the Obtaining IP Address stage, and then it says "Network Disabled - Poor Connection". Never has this happened ever before.
There used to be regular reminders that used to come to me for updates. However, I have been ignoring those for 4-5 months. I hope that is not the cause for this problem.
Now, I know there is an existing thread for this exact same problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2159603
However, PLEASE NOTE I am no techie.. I absolutely have no clue about the proposed solution(s) in this thread.. root files, DHCP, 4.1.2, 4.1.1, yadda yadda yadda - all GREEK to me.. I understood absolutely nothing from this..
Would really really appreciate if someone can provide a step by step solution guide for this problem to a guy who knows nothing about tech!
Looking forward to replies,
Paras
Wi fi Problem - Solution??
So the wi-fi works at the hotel, but doesn't work in the office!!
Could using an app called Wifi Static be a good solution?? (Couldn't post link as I'm a new user!)
Reset the AP in your office. If wifi works somewhere else besides your office it's probably the AP in your office.
I'm having the same issue too. IPhone connects fine but note 2 has issues.

Hello all,
I'm experiencing a strange phenomenon with my Samsung Galaxy J5 (model number SM-J500FN, running Android 6.0.1) and was hoping someone might be able to help!
It works fine most of the time, but stutters and crashes whenever it's connected to one certain free Wifi network. This "guest" network is provided by our local council and is accessible in libraries/leisure centres/schools etc. Other friends with Android phones can use this free network with absolutely no issues, but my J5 slows to a crawl soon after connecting, and is soon unusable. It doesn't even reboot easily, and when it does (eventually), and I reconnect to the network, the exact same thing happens again. The only error message I've seen pop up during the stuttering procedure is "Touchwiz home has stopped working".
I stress again that my phone experiences no issues whatsoever when connecting to *any other network* apart from this one, free Wifi.
Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? Or, more importantly, how I can address this issue? (This free, guest network is prevalent all over the area I live in. Sometimes my phone connects to it in my pocket without my knowledge, and it takes 15 minutes to restart my phone and be able to use it again!)
Any advice would be very welcome. Thanks for reading, all the very best.
P.S. I am by no means a phone expert, so it would be hugely appreciated if you could walk me through any potential fixes, I'm not brilliant with jargon... Thanks!

You can do one thing. Download the latest firmware from Sammobile for your model and flash it using Odin. If there is any problem with your firmware then this will fix it. I also had some problems with my phone's firmware so i flashed the latest firmware from Sammobile and everything was fixed. Sometimes there are some problems with the firmware which come by default with the device at the time of purchasing.
Hi,
I just received the Oreo update for my S8 and everything seemed fine from the start. It didnt take long though when
I noticed that the WiFi was acting weird. Even though I had great connection to my modem, my WiFi performance
was extremely poor. The two arrows beside the WiFi logo in the status bar only showed upload and no download when I
tried to open a website. I tried forgeting the network but it only seemed to work momentarily. So I rebooted my modem and
hoped that it would solve the problem. Rebooting the modem only worked momentarily too. I will be checking later if this issue
continues with other WiFi networks.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Same problem with My S8 after Oreo. Occasionally the !-mark next to wifi-symbol and the connecton is lost. By restarting the wifi-router or renewing the wifi connection from the phone fixes this for some time, until it happens again.
This fixed it for me
Mine was doing the same but noticed I could stay connected to a older router I use as an extender so changed my wifi security on my main router from wpa2-aes to the older wpa and it's been fine ever since stays connected on 2.4 and 5 now
Is there a fix for this yet? I just downloaded the newest update they rolled out today, 4/3/2018 and I still cannot send email if I am connected to my wifi. It tells me "couldn't send" and it sits there until I turn off my wifi and use my data. This is ridiculous. My wifi connection is fine. I should not have to turn off wifi every time I want to send an email. So frustrated. Why roll out another update so quickly if not to fix the issues the March update caused????
I am also a an S8 user and noticed my wifi dropping connections throughout the day and reconnecting. This has occurred ever since Oreo update. I have tried all the possible fixes and none of them seem to work. I have sent my phone to Samsung for a repair and they have useless approved centres that lie about fixing the phone. I have sent it back. Lets see what happens. Worst case scenario I will have to install Nougat as it was working fine on this version.
Same here ! =(
Same problem
Sporadic exclamation mark on the WiFi icon
and poor performance .
Opened another thread on too many open ports.
Used sockstat and too many ports are listening.
Me too
(ROM France : XEF)
Did you guys notice this after the Oreo update or on Nougat as well?
I’m having this problem since the Oreo update too. I have to turn the WiFi off and on several times a day to fix it. When attempting to use WiFi, no pages etc will load and then eventually a ! Symbol appears next to the WiFi icon. Only fix is to turn WiFi on and off. It’s very annoying!
Exact same issue. Started occurring right after oreo update
Have you guys complained to Samsung about this? as making noise to them will rectify your faults eventually.
Same here, WiFi unreliable since Oreo. I need to restart the network to make a WiFi call and that isn't always a reliable fix. I started a chat with T-Mob on FB and gave up. They're clueless. Samsung S8+
Hello same issu, I'm from France an online the forum in France an Germany many people have this problem.
I read somewhere to delete the wireless connection from your device and then re-add. I'm not ready to say it fixed things but the WiFi does seem more stable.
UPDATE - Sorry to say there are still issues. Oh well, it gave me hope for a brief moment!
Go to settings- General management- Reset- Reset network settings- Then confirm and restart the phone. After re add your wifi networks. That fixed it for me
Update: It turned out that it didn't work for me... it looks like i may have to try and factory reset as it feels like i have tried everything else :crying:

T-Mobile just had be clear the cache from the "boot level" menus. Let me see if that fixes anything before trying yet something further. THANKS!
PS - clearing the cache did fix the problem I was having with the TX Lottery app. After the OREO update it would no longer scan the ticket barcodes. It's working again!
