Hi there,
Just been thinking about picking one of these up.Played with it abit in my local network providers shop and Im impressed.
But my question is regarding the dual sim mode.
My network provider here in Ireland says that the phone is single sim only ,that they don't supply dual sim versions in Europe.
Now what Im wondering is if the actual hardware is the same and that a rom could be flashed similar to the P8 lite to enable dual sim mode?
Also the second sim tray doesn't seem to be physically able to take a second sim.
Is it possible that providers in Europe are
1. Only selling single sim versions if such a thing exists.
2.Selling dual sim versions with the software for dual sim disabled and a different sim tray?
Thanks for any help.
Richie
In my understanding P8 lite single sim is the same thing as P8 lite dual sim but with dual sim support disabled within software. IE same hardware.
As per regular P8, dual sim and single sim phones actually have different hardware, like GRAL09 (single sim) has single radio module while GRA UL00 (dual sim) has 2. In short: you can't make regular single sim P8 a dual sim phone via software or hardware tweak.
Here in belgium you can order a dual sim.
Vandenborre is selling onlie and it is the dual sim.
Coolblue is selling single sim.

It seems not. I moved to Brussels since end of May and I wanted to buy the dual sim P8 from here. FNAC and Vanden Borre sell only single sims. I bought the single sim after all via Amazon.fr in June as at that time they had the best price. Now they all sell it around 500 EUR free of contract.
The dual sim model you will find only on ebay from China or HK. I needed to change my phone so I had no option to wait 2 to 4 weeks for being delivered from there.
Sorry, my mistake, i was talking about P8 lite
I ordered now P8 Dual Sim version with 64GB memory in Switzerland in Digitec online shop (599 CHF).
Dear knowledge Gods,
Having decided on the Moto X Play, I have come to a dilemma revolving around the version. Here it is:
I don't have two phone lines and live in Brazil where only the dual Sim version is being sold. However, in a month from now, I am to take a trip to France/England, where the single Sim version is available (and is LTE compatible with Brazil's frequencies). After exchange rate's conversion and plan discount, it is still cheaper (about 25%) to buy the dual Sim version in Brazil, but I still don't know if it's worth it.
My question is: Knowing that there are known disadvantages to dual Sim phones (network issues, lesser life span, etc), is still worth it to get the dual Sim version in Brazil and ignore the extra slot?
Thank you in advance.

The dual and single sim are identical hardware wise. You could even flash single sim firmware onto your dual sim phone and convert it.
I have the Dual Sim version, and live in the UK. It works really well, has full 4g coverage here and in Ireland and the battery life shames the Asus Zenfone 2 and OnePlus 2 (both of which I had, and very happy now to stick with Play). Being able to get 6 hours of screen time in a day and still have battery left is so important given how much I travel and am not always near a charger. Its a no-brainer of a purchase for me.
Currently Samsung has stated that EU/NA markets will get only 32GB built-in memory models.
Korea and perhaps some other Asian markets will get 64GB - at some point in time.
Currently no official information (as of 25/2/2016) is available from Samsung on:
- 64GB model release dates/countries
- 64GB model supported 3G/UMTS/LTE network frequencies (bands)
Previously one could buy for example 128GB special model of Note5 from Korea. However this model would NOT include support for all US/EU network frequencies.
So, if you know of 64GB model information, release dates, prices, countries or frequency support, please post here.

With all the gear VR stuff and game being almost 1 gb nowadays. I am really compelled to get the 64Gb variant. Cant find much online. Any sites you can buy them from? All seem to be coming soon.
Why do you need a 64gb version at all? I have the 32gb european model, a 128gb micro sd partitioned 50/50 and formatted fat32/ext2. Then I rooted my handset and use Link2Sd Paid and every App (Data and Obb files too) are transfered to the ext2... I have over 500 apps on handset, lots of which are 2gb games and my internal storage still has over 20gb free... Job Done [emoji39]

Cause if you use 2 sim cards, 32GB is not enough.

I'm wondering if you just buy dual sim tray (international version)
I'm pretty sure that the US version doesn't support dual sim feature.

Damn this looks pretty cool though. I wonder if T-Mobile changed something the software to make this not possible..
Dual sim only works on international models that have two sim trays and two imei numbers. None of the US carrier versions support this.
I'm in Asia on a business trip and want to get the S8 Plus 64GB (G955FD) in coral blue to use it in the UK when I travel back and the phone is £80 cheaper in Asia from official Samsung store but was wondering is the G955FD an international version and what is the difference between that and the S8 Plus model available in the UK?
D is for dual SIM, so you basically get the same, but the microSD tray is actually a hybrid nanoSIM-microSD tray
