Want a free in VR in the UK with the S7?

So last night I ordered my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge directly from the Samsung UK website and nowhere did I see it mention the free VR that everyone else is getting.
I placed my order anyway and decided to give Samsung UK a call to find out why. It turns out that only carriers are offering the VR on contracts and not on SIM Free purchases direct from Samsung, despite what was said in the keynote. The support staff told me that they had lots of people calling to complain about this and have started an internal petition on behalf of their users, the more people that call the bigger the list.
If you want any chance of getting a VR like everyone else I would give them a call and complain. It's worth a shot.

The Galaxy S7 Edge is actually even more expensive in the U.K. than the rest of the E.U. (thanks to some shady Euro > Pound conversion). 639.00 GBP = 818.902 EUR vs €799 in continental europe.
There is no white version in the UK for some reason either, as opposed to countries within the Eurozone.

I have just ordered two S7 Edges on Vodafone and ensured I got a headset with each phone. I'll sell one of them to make £50 back as the other phone is for the wife.
Pretty crappy of Samsung not to provide the headset when you buy direct. I wouldn't be at all happy about that.

Thanks very much for posting this. Just called them and added my name to their "internal poll".
As you said, the more that call, the more chance this will happen.
Other details I got from them were:
- The UK region is only scheduled to get Gold or Black for now
- The UK region is only scheduled to get a 32GB model
No polls for either of those, seems like quite a "set" thing.

EE still have nothing about the gear vr on their website? i
I ordered through chitter chatter and they are giving a 64 gb micro sd card instead.

A Samsung employee posted on another thread that when pre ordering, sim free phones aren't eligible, only those on contracts.

See that really wouldn't bother me if they said that at the keynote. What they did say was "preorders in the US & special countries" then later stating Europe. As the UK is in Europe and I preordered at the right time I assumed I ticked all the boxes. Instead all we get is a lousy rugby pen.....I hate rugby haha so that's just salt in the wound.

This is great news now does anyone know if it should be on your order if your getting a free VR I ordered yesterday and my order just states free rugby pen will I still get a VR or do I need to call them and anend my order . Anyone know pls ?

It's showing free vr on all pre order before 10th March. I just joined the upgrade programme waiting for the decision now, hope it gets accepted

Its not on the email I got back confirming my pre-order. Sure we'll all get one as the website states it. They cant false advertise.

thanks for replying i emailed samsung and have a email saying we will get a vr so i have evidence now if it doesnt go to plan im sure it will though

Just a follow up, I called support asking whether the VR would show on the order and was told "we're not sure whether we're adding the VR as a separate order or onto existing ones" this explains why they're not showing on preorders.

Samsung UK is selling the S7 for 569 GBP, though which is exactly the same as 699 EUR.
On the other hand, we don't have a white option for the regular S7 here in Bulgaria and I think none of the markets have it in white, actually.
The S7 Edge, however, should come in white as well.

only voda and car phone warehhouse are giving the gear vr free so the whole free on all pre orders was just a lame marketing ploy to boost initial sales. As to the g5 I have a g4 at the minute and only the 815 international version has an unlockable bootloader unlock via lg only and bye bye warranty since the g4 has a hardware bug that is causing bootloop in the first batch devices I don't put much faith in lg for a substitute.G4 had bad overheating and touch screen issues for about 5 months till lg patched it out.

they changed the UK website a few days back stating its only voda and car phone warehouse check it now

Samsung have updated their site advising the VR is included in all orders on their website directly. Support have also confirmed this on twitter and email for me.

Yes I've just had an email from Samsung UK stating that all preorders from them automatically get the VR headset "while stock lasts"
Was a bit disappointed as I thought it was a shipping email ?

We ordered ours 2/24 around noon. I see all these lucky T-mobile guys getting their a week early... I guess Tmo is known to do that. Any luck AT&T does such things?

No movement on mine. I got the T-mobile S6 last year and got it early. Att won't ship it early. In my experience they ship overnight but others have reported 2 day.

I always consider moving to them, but AT&T has had great call quality and signal here. Would have to jump ship and realize t-mobile sucks around here.

Ordered mine at 6AM ET on 2/23 and it still says shipping on March 7th.

Yup, me too actually. Although I could do with their free international data roaming, and overall lower costs! But AT&T mostly has reception when friends with T-mobile got nothing

Ordered on the first morning both S7 and Edge, no movement.

Well, I'm on AT&T but I ordered from Best Buy, so my shipping will be different—but from what I've gathered, T-Mobile is really the only carrier who ships early...at least ridiculously early. I think they pretty much stick to their guns and deliver it by release day, maybe a day or two early if you're lucky. I'm curious as to how Best Buy works in these situations, and if the carrier you chose has any effect on shipping dates. Anyone know?

Mine still says March 7th. But the Gear S2 (free with S7) which was supposed to ship by March 2nd thru 4th, just shipped via Fedex overnight!
Guess this means the pre-orders for the S7 could ship earlier than the 7th and should also ship overnight via Fedex.

I think the last times I have ordered a phone from AT&T it came via Fedex. Most things I get shipped come via UPS, so Fedex usually sticks out.
Yes, the next 10 days are going to go soooooooooooo slowly, I already have a buyer for my Note 3 (sold way faster than expected) so want the new phone to get here asap.

You must have gotten lucky.
Must buy an eligible Samsung Galaxy smartphone on AT&T Next℠ agmt w/ qual. monthly wireless svc plan (voice & data). Excludes Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.
The phone rep pointed that out to me, so i cancelled my order, and said i was considering switching to T-Mobile. Appearently the rep i talked to didnt want to deal with **** and replied "I hope you have a great day and an easy time with the switch." and hung up.
So, i think tomorrow im gonna go talk to the uncarrier.

FYI, I did some research and found that ATT shipped the S6 early last year! They shipped on 4/4. I and many other on here got theirs on 4/6. The official S6 launch was 4/10/15.
So there is hope.

And now that I think about it, the rep I talked to did sound new on the job... Well I'm really thankful now!
EDIT: Actually, I'm sure ATT changed the terms without notice. Maybe had set # of stock for the S7/Edge.

Ordered early the day it was available for pre-order. No updates made since that day and I'm not expecting it to unfortunately

Just tried to reps with att and got denied on the watch as it's not eligible with the s7 or edge. Ugh

That's what I see. 250k isn't much.... More than likely though they will still honor the requests after that but people might be waiting a while. I pre-ordered on the 4th of August so I'm pretty sure I'm in anyways.

Pre-ordered a black onyx on 8/4.

My pre-order is dated 8/2. Ordered online from Verizon in the Central time zone. The promotion has 8/3 as the earliest date to qualify. Thinking about cancelling and reordering though Verizon customer service assured me 8/2 would be OK. I really doubt it.

Another Coral Blue. Ordered direct from Samsung on 8/3 because, despite the money going to the same place, I felt better 'giving my money' to Samsung. Also made the problem of selecting a free gift a bit easier as, I believe, it will ship with the phone.

Don't get too excited about it. Technically you haven't gotten anything and they are only giving out 250k memory cards... don't sleep on it.

That would be awesome! They should definitely tend towards the early side if anything because really... Who cares from their point of view? Get the product put earlier for more positive PR and advertising.

Eh, I'll be one of those 250k I can almost guarantee. Most people aren't that quick about getting things done like rebates and gifts. I'll be on it 5 minutes after my phone arrives. I'm not even worried.

through verizon you can now upgrade and keep unlimited data by choosing to pay for the phone on their monthly payment plan. thats what i did. that is part of their justification to charge us an extra $25 bucks for the data.

Is the 2nd Recall Official?

So there have been announcement from Samsung related to stopping the production of the Note 7, but I have not seen anything official calling for a recall.
Has the CPSC launched an official recall?
Has Samsung said anything more than that we should stop using the device and return it if we can?
I am holding out for the official recall, as of right now Samsung is not even offering a bill credit for returning the device. The first go around they offered $25. I went to AT&T yesterday and they said they would take the device back, but there would not be another bill credit.
Just curious if there has been an official recall or process for receiving a refund for the device. I figured we could also use this thread as a place to track the options once the recall is made official.

Not official but att and as far as I know all other carriers take it back no questions asked.

They added original and replacement devices to the http://www.samsung.com/us/note7recall/ so I would assume both returns will prompt a 25 credit by the carrier or third party gift card.

from what ATT told me.... that to get the 25 credit, i had to chose another samsung phone to replace my note 7 I had returned, and also I had to eat the 20.00 upgrade fee too, ATT would`t refund that, only the first Next payment I had paid.

Customers with a recalled Galaxy Note7 may select a Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, or Galaxy S7 active or any other smartphone, and may also return any Note7 accessories. If a customer chooses another Samsung device, he or she will receive a bill credit of $25 per device within 1-2 bill cycles.

Depends on who you get to talk to at AT&T. I got the $20 access charge waived from att for my replacement. This time I'm returning it and using my wife's iPhone 6+ until I get the iPhone 7+ 256gb I ordered. I think it's time for an OS change. I have never used an iPhone before so this will be fun.

yeah I thought about change to Iphone 7+, I got one for my wife for wedding anniversary present, and I played with the zoom camera takes really nice pics, but she has had some issues with hers, and it might have to get a replacement, sometimes when try to wake it up with the home button, it sometimes it takes few tries to get it to wake up, and taking pics the camera will just close with out touching anything, and she has had it lock up few times and just sit there and is not responsive at all, shes not power user, so who know`s, and when it happens........ she said i should have just keep my iphone 6+:silly:

I want to hold out but can't help but worry about when or where it will burst into flames…. It's stressful I tell ya.. Lol. I don't want an s7 edge had it the first recall and didn't like it only one that even close is the. LG V20 but doesn't come out till the 24th or so…… so I'm just at a loss on what to do.

Seeing as there isn't anything out that I feel compares to the Note7 I bought a used nexus6. Had one before and liked being able to root and rom it to make it the way I want. It will work till something else comes out.

yeah I`m think about getting OP3 again, I had one right before I bought the Note7 and really liked it so that`s probably were I`ll go back too. when ever OP get them back in stock.

I think im just going to keep using my N5. If rumors are true the S8 should be good (if it doesn't explode lol) and they are going to bump up the release date to Feb next year. Ill tell you this much though, its going to have to be amazing and Samsung better offer a deal to those of us that had to deal with this n7 fiasco.
If not this is the last Samsung ill use/buy

I live in San Francisco - will be at 9:01 PM wih S8 plus with Midnight Black .
- Will we get it sooner like S7 - S7 Edge last year with 1 week early deliveried ?? And I remember Note7 we got on release day , no one who pre-order N7 got early .

I want to preorder this.....but I may wait to see if the bootloader is unlocked or not first.

Hmm.. I wonder if I'd be able to add that $130 to my monthly installments under Jump On Demand like I did with my S7 Edge.

Don't know hopefully T-Mobile ships early like the G6. Had mine for a couple days now and release date is the 7th.

Not sure at the moment. Most of the T-Mobile reps I'm talking to have no concrete info. Been in store and called.

T-mobile rep here (speaking unofficially). The s8 and s8+ both require a down payment. The 30 for the s8 and the 130 for the s8+ is required to ensure the monthly payments dont exceed 30 per mo. From what we have access to in tech there is not a way to waive the deposit needed unfortunately. I am fairly sure this applies with all departments as well.

If you want $0 down , try Costco .
Costco will take tax only on EIP T Mobile phone , doesnt matter required down base on device or credit type .
My credit just begining and not so good , T Mobile store required 50% on all device from iOS to Android . I went to Costco , all my 4 lines and 4 device on my account just paid tax only .

Oh **** I didn't notice pre order start tonight!!! I wonder how TMobile will handle my JOD since I just Jumped to the G6!! They probably gonna give me hell since the G6 is not out yet and it has been more than 14days

I called and asked to see what info I could get and was told that T-mobile will unlock the phone after it's paid in full and also must be on T-mobile service for 40 days.... Then I asked if it will be SIM or Bootloader unlocked ( I knew the Rep would be lost there and I was right) and got no real answer....
I wasn't expecting any miracles by asking a rep but wanted to give it a go anyway.... Hopefully people here can add more info as we go along...
Also thanks for starting this thread Charlie, I was here with ya when we were riding out the Note 7 last year...That was fun.... I expect these next few weeks to be more of the same...LOL!!!

Yeah I'm on the phone with them now. I have the G6 but will pre order tonight. None of the reps seem to understand that I have the phone now.
Was just told I can jump to the S8 just have to trade my G6 in within 30 days.

This $130 down is complete BS.
It totally destroys the idea of jumping from phone to phone.. who wants to pay $100+ each time they get a new phone + $30 a month.
Please call T-mobile and tell them you do not like this at all!!!
