hey guys, there is a new rumor actually a photo that says that there is a new "super charger" that will charge your phone from 0-100% in less than 20 minutes....don't know if it's just a troll or true....what you think?
We'll find out tomorrow.
Seems like a no for that rumor, currently oppo has the best charger with its vooc thingamajiggy. Does 20watts and i think the battery is split into 4 sections so each section is charged at 5watts and at much lower temperatures.
Do we know yet which fast charging technology the S8 supports? Quick Charge 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, or USB Type C Power Delivery? Something else?
Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
it seems it uses the same charger as the S7...so quick charge 2.0...i am not mad...but they could of used 3.0....i am sure SD835 can get 4.0 but the EXYNOS can't....it's samsung fault
Qc3 isn't any quicker, still stuck at 18watts. They compared an s7 to a phone with quickcharge 3 and the s7 still charged faster.
is the fast charging between the S6 and S7 any different?

freaking samsung better not remove qc4.0 like they removed qc3.0 from note7 .

Gotta believe they would've made a big deal of it at the press conference if it indeed had this. Perhaps the Note 7 debacle has made them extra cautious with anything battery-related.
Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
I would imagine if the Exynos SoC can't rival QC4.0 on the Snapdragon then they will ensure the same experience for customers in all regions by limiting the Snapdragon charging speeds to meet Exynos, otherwise people will seek out the Snapdragon versions specifically.
I'm interested to know though as I have a USB charging hub at home with a QC2.0 port, might consider an upgrade to 3.0 if it's supported
yeah, they will keep QC 2.0 for both....
If Samsung is so worried about keeping playing field even amongst variants why don't we (U.S.) get 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB storage as reported for Chinese unit.

Hi, for those who own an Galaxy Note 3 (with a Snapdragon 800), does it have the Quick Charge feature that the LG G2 has?
And if it does, how fast does it charge? A guy at a retailer says the LG G2 can charge from 0% to full in 30minutes.
(I'm only comparing this to the LG G2 is because both of them have a snapdragon 800 which supports it)
EDIT; I mean to say Quick Charge 2.0, not 3.0
I think that's a miss quote on the LG tech... its zero to 80% in 30 mins.
Thats still good, but yeah unless im doing it wrong the note3 doesnt have that.

i could be wrong:
http://mobilesyrup.com/2013/09/05/t...ting-smartphone-released-this-year-heres-why/
it says that :
Perhaps even more exciting is, combined with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0, the Galaxy Note 3′s 3200mAh battery will charge much, much faster. USB 3.0 alone improves charging speeds from 500mA of current to 900mA, which is closer to an AC adapter than a USB port. The Note 3 also sports a 1.5A mode, too, which promises to bring charging time to under two hours.
The charger that it comes with is 2.0 A

Just to stop the confusion and back and forth about this topic.
LG has confirmed that, yes, the G4 does support Quick Charge 2.0. The company tells Pocketnow that while it didn’t set out with plans to support the feature, the inclusion of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 808 processor in the G4 means that the phone does technically support it. The bad news is that the G4’s in-box wall charger doesn’t support Quick Charge 2.0, so you’re going to need a new wall wart — such as the Motorola Turbo Charger — if you want to juice up your G4 in a hurry.

Ok thanks for the confirmation.....
Are there many manufacturers which provides the 2.0 charger with the device?
Yeah the issue was it out of the box it has neither.
To wireless charge you need a case or a sticker. To fast charge you need to buy your own charger. So when a reviewer gets the phone out of the box neither of these are available and that's where the confusion came from. Good conformation nevertheless.
I'm glad there's a thread about it, hopefully it doesn't drive the price higher on the device once officially released They are competing to get Samsung and Apple users for the most part. All these favorable reviews and positive feedback Internet Wide should do the trick.
Honestly I was aiming towards the Galaxy S6 myself but am glad I held off until the G4 was officially out. Unless there's a serious problem with the the device I am 99.9% sure that this will be my next smartphone.
Even current Galaxy S6 users are looking at the G4 and that is saying a lot.

Its possible, that reviewer on the video Ive posted could have already updated the software. Do you have another quick charge cable you can try it on, maybe a Samsung one?
LG was surprised themselves its working on their units.

I read that LG said that Quick Charge will be enabled in the software the G4 is officially released with. Since the reviewers have pre-release software they don't have it.
The Android Central podcast said they tried the Motorola Turbo Charger with the G4, but the phone said an unknown charger was connected and to charge at full speed use the LG charger.
So can someone provide a link to turbo chargers or manufacturer and model of charges that support this?
The reason why i assume is that the Kernel doesn't have the feature integrated yet or it isn't enabled
Code:

is in com.lge.services.jar.out\smali\com\android\server\power\PowerManagerServiceEx.smali which i found when comparing the G4 with the G3 frameworks, it is located on line 3100 if you wan't to check it out, however i ain't sure if this is somehow "disabeld" or if it just lies there and waiting for it to be enabled.

So can we all agree - at least in USA - that QC is not actually turned on yet. I kind of thought it would be on, since the acknowledged the chip/phone was capable, but we need to buy our own adaptors. Well, I bought a few QC 2.0 plugs, but I'd say they are doing nothing (I have never had QC 2.0 so not entirely sure what to look for other than "faster" charging - which does not seem to happen). Apparently they acknowledged too late in the shipping cycle to actually update the device to accept QC 2.0. BTW, I have seen companies, even in the ship cycle, send an update to devices so when you got them, they updated when started up.
I've been using my 2.0 charger that I bought from amazon for my Z3 and it is indeed working. phone charges at slightly faster than a percentage point a minute.

Yup its just not active. And the new M feature doze. is a joke its in the framework of Android 5.0 of both G3 and G4 not sure if active though
So.. I'm confused. I got the phone last night and it took like 9 hours to fully charge to 100%.
I don't get my QC 2.0 charger until next week, but ... is it confirmed that it isn't activated?

No simply that the phone's chip supports it but you need the proper charger for it.
It shouldn't take 9 hours even with the out of the box charger, more like 2 hours maximum.
The European H815 will charge at 9V, but the LG G4 draws nothing like the current which other Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 devices do.

I'm reading from other threads that it's normal to have slow charges the first few times..
Is this not accurate? That was literally my first charge.
No phone I have ever owned has charged slowly the first few times.
If you are using the stock cable/charger something is either faulty or they just didn't handshake together properly. I have had that happen a few times, not regularly though.
Like I say using the standard charger it should take around 120mins, you will only save 20mins or so at the moment by using an Aukey charger.

Thanks for the information. Is it safe to assume that this is just a guess or an estimate, since you haven't actually used a QC 2.0 charger on the G4? Or is this proven by your device?
The only reason why I question is because there are a lot of G4 users on QC 2.0 chargers who are stating that they are having great experience with their charge times in comparison to the stock charger.
By stating that it's a 100 min with a QC 2.0 vs 120 min with a 1.8V charger, you're not talking about much of a difference.
Hello,,
Some users posted information that the new galaxy phones will not support the Quick Charge 3.0 but only 2.0 :crying:
I contacted Qualcomm and Samsung and they both weren't able to provide me whether a conformation or denial about it.
So what do you think for those who like this feature? Will the new phones support it or not? because to me a phone with 3600mah should really have the Quick Charge 3.0.
the manual on page 12 says 2.0
Qualcomm s820 soc supports quick charge 3.0. Is it possible they have not activated that feature? Sure I geuss. Also they are offering more than one soc depending on your location. So the s820 won't be the chip for everyone.
I am only going by what the manual says. If Samsung put that in the manual then that's what it is unless they made a mistake with it, and then they should be able to clarify

It could be something that they will update or something in the kernel that can be modified by developers. I'm saying that the processor supports it. So it if they truly are only using version 2.0 it will most likely be enabled to 3.0 in the future.
If it does great. If it doesn't oh well.
There is a big chance that the new upcoming phones will support the QC 3.0 through an update.. the HTC A9 has a micro usb port and didn't support QC 3.0 until they release an update for it so I really hope Sammy will do that too for both of new phones!

agree with you! Quick charge 3.0 will be much better.
https://www.qualcomm.com/news/snapd...-galaxy-s7-and-s7-edge-powered-snapdragon-820
To ensure that you’re spending less time plugged into a socket and more time enjoying your mobile experience, the Samsung Galaxy S7 is outfitted with Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0: It fuels your device up to 75 percent faster than conventional charging.
I saw this on gsm arena. Another website mentioned the 83 percent charging in 30 minutes. So not sure what to believe.
http://m.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s7-7821.php
It's Quick Charge 2.0 only in S7:
"[Samsung] told PC Advisor at MWC2016 that it thinks Quick Charge 2.0 is fast enough"
http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/review/a...msung-galaxy-s6-vs-samsung-galaxy-s7-3635467/
So it doesn't have QC3.0 and it doesn't sound like Samsung is committed to enabling it. Is it on the table for custom Roms? I know the processor supports it but does the rest of the hardware? I just got my aukey QC3.0 wall charger in the mail and even though it's QC2.0 backwards compatible, it'd be nice to put it to use.
Here is a listing on the Qualcomm site which lists devices supporting their technologies. The S7 showed up under a search list for QC2.0 and had a page outlining its (mostly Snapdragon-based) technologies:
https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon/smartphones/samsung-galaxy-s7-edge
At the bottom there is a bullet item claiming QC2.0 for 75% faster charging than non-QC devices...
It's odd, most of the documentation of QC3.0 focuses on more efficiency, but they don't make any direct comparisons of speed. In fact, one article even clarified that QC3.0 has the same max power as QC2.0 and the same target power flow and what it added was fine grained control over voltage and that it may help the speed of charging on lower voltage devices. So, it's a mixed message as to how much benefit it might provide a cell phone, the 0-83% figure I've seen quoted is often "a device went from ..." meaning they could have chosen the device that was least suited to QC2 for their benchmark and that device would be the one that would benefit most from QC3.0. But, in the end, maybe QC3 really didn't offer much real-world charging performance for the S7? Still, the greater efficiency due to having better control over voltage might have been a nice change even if the total speed wasn't that much better.

That is because QC3 doesn't improve the speed of charging at all. The only thing it does is make it more efficient.

Despite what I said in my previous post, which was mostly speculation based on the loose wording I'd seen in a number of documents from Qualcomm, there are still a number of articles that claim it is faster due to its efficiency, but not by a wide margin. For instance:
http://blog.blitzwolf.com/what-is-qc-3-fast-charging-with-blitzwolf-chargers.html
(Note that the QC3 battery is only at 70% vs 62% for QC2 and both are super-imposed over what looks like a smartphone graphic)
http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/0...8-more-power-efficient-than-quick-charge-2-0/
(same graphic, the title claims 27% faster, but the graphic only shows it being 8% ahead at the 29 minute mark)
If you listen to the video in the Android Police link they only ever compare charging speed to QC1 and conventional charging and the 38% claim vs QC2 is of efficiency. For example, from their press release:
Qualcomm said:
Quick Charge 3.0 is engineered to refuel devices up to four times faster than conventional charging. It is designed to charge twice as fast as Quick Charge 1.0 and to be 38 percent more efficient than Quick Charge 2.0.
Click to collapse
But, their video clearly shows that it is actually faster than QC2, it's just not 27% faster as claimed in the Android Police headline. Perhaps it might be 27% faster to 100% since the voltage step downs happen primarily at the tail end of the charge cycle and so the fine-grained voltage control will smooth that final charge level quite a bit. But getting a quick boost charge is not going to run into that since it can mainly happen at the maximum power where the existing fixed power levels of QC2 are close enough to optimal.
So maybe the video race shows what happens in real life when you aren't trying to get to 100%?
So i was roaming around on web.. and then accidentally stepped into ifixit teardown of pixel 2 xl.
lazy browsing.. i found an interesting thing..
pixel 2 xl have Qualcomm*SMB1381*Quick Charge 4 IC in it.
ofcourse it support usb pd, which is pixel 2 xl's native charging method..
SMB1381 support qc 4 ( with backward compatibility) , usb c and usb pd charging mechanism.
so now the point of this thread .. why dont we try to enable it?
if you ask why, because we already have faster pd charging.. why bother.. let me give u some quick points.
1) a wider compatibility.. like it can get fast charging from all the way down to qc-2.0 to qc-4.0
2) almost all midrange ( even some low budget phones) have qc -2 + charging mechanism, so you can find a quick charger almost everywhere.
3) almost all good powerbanks support qc. ( but may be only about less than 5% support usb pd)
4) the same applies to wall adapter itself.. almost 95% is qc enabled.. while only 5 % or so support usb pd
5) can reuse all those qc chargers which you keep in dust. or just using as normal charger..
6) last but not least.. you dont have to use usb c to usb c cables.. can use those usb a to usb c cables ( which comes with all new phones) to get quick charge.
so what you guys think?? shd we give it a try?
i am 100% sure that, google have just locked it down by software, ( sony used to do the same on xperia z2 international version.. till i figured it out and unlocked for xda - you can find that somewhere in xperia z2 forums or here - https://youtu.be/8p185UHd4a0 ) . might be.. they never added code for qc in kernel, or even library for qc.. or just didn't enable some kernel module in system folder..
can i get some support??
Quick Charge 4 is compatible with Power Delivery. I don't think a Quick Charge 4 charger will be any faster though. It's just compatible.

yes.. i know.. it might not be fast.. but its not the point. the point is making the phone's fast charging compatible with all chargers ... like Qualcomm quick chargers and usb pd chargers and all powerbanks with qc technology.
we cant do dash charge because it requries special hardware. but we can do Qualcomm qc.

ya.. qc 4 may be.. but not qc 3 or qc 2.0. for now a large amount of devices are supported only by qc 3 or lower.
To power up, you consume Red Bull. But your phone just needs its adaptive fast charger. Rate this thread to express how quickly the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 can charge. A higher rating indicates that it charges extremely fast.

I confirm your conclusions. I have NOTE 10+ and the charging time is also about 1 hour. At the same time, my wife has a NOTE 10 model, and her phone charges in about 1 hour 20 minutes. This really looks a little strange because:
1. The Note 10+ battery has a capacity greater than Note 10.
2. Both phones have the same EP-TA800 charger!
It seems strange, but it is.

Note 10 has fast charging! Please go to Setting ... - Fast cable charging and unmark it. After that charging time will be changed for both models. In this case Note 10 charges in 3 hours instead of 1 hour 20 minutes. So Note 10 has fast charging mode as Samsung declared it.
Another thing is that fast charging is realized in Note 10 plus much more efficiently, include super fast charging of 45 watts.

But that cannot help our friend @Proday. Note 10 does not support 45W fast charging.
By the way, the charging time for Note 10 Plus using the EP-TA800 adapter is also about 1 hour.
And on the side, it is much easier to carry the compact EP-TA800 with you wherever you go, than 45W fast charger
@iOr_s yeah, that is eaven better if you (and my neighbor here) have same charging time with 25w as user with 45w [emoji849][emoji56]

In fact, there is a slight time difference. It is approximately 15 minutes ).
On the one hand, it makes up 25-30% (!!!) of the total charging time. But on the other hand, it's only about 15 minutes
And for me personally this is not so important. And for this reason I have not bought a 45W charger yet
Horrible battery life for the note 10 , need to charge the device twice a day, not acceptable

Hi, since we are talking abt charging, I have one on Wireless.
The included Note 10+ power adaptor (EP-TA800) cannot FAST Wireless Charge when connected to my 2 older Wireless charger stands (EP-NG930, EP-PG950) [only Standard, slow Wireless Charging]... BUT if I swap out the 25W adaptor with an older unit (EP-TA20UWE), I CAN Fast Wireless Charge with both above-said charger stands.
My question: Is this normal per Samsung's current support for only USB PD & dropping of AFC charging standard (read this somewhere but not fully across the technical implications of this)? i.e.- I will need a new wireless charging stand in order to FAST wireless charge with provided 25W adaptor?
Bit of a bummer if true since that's like Samsung abandoning our older accessories. Appreciate any inputs u might have. Tks.

Got a response from Samsung today. They confirmed that the included 25W adapter will not enable Fast Wireless Charging on older Samsung stands for reasons associated with power & voltage regulation. That means if Fast Wireless charging is important to you, you'll have to pony up and get one of the new Samsung stands.

Of course that you need to pay for new! But it is eaven worse when you pay for something that doesn't work (25w on note10)!
On which address you wrote to samsung @zhudm66

Sorry to hear that! Which brings me to the point of being more transparent about adoption of new standards (and what legacy ones are dropped).. right? Fast Wireless charging on older stands not supported... okay, maybe not such a big deal but you'd think they'd be a little more upfront about it instead of giving us the big run around.
To answer yr Q- I contacted them via Live Chat on Samsung Members app, then they called me back.

I have 2 dual stands wireless chargers from Samsung. 1 is 10W and the other is 15 W. They BOTH show fast charging for me. They both came with their own power adaptors out of the box. The 10W comes with the adaptive fast charging, and the 15W came with the same 25W charger that the Note 7 was able use. Did you lose your adaptor?

To power up, you consume Red Bull. But your phone just needs its adaptive fast charger. Rate this thread to express how quickly the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 can charge. A higher rating indicates that it charges extremely fast.

me too, and super fast charging indicator does not appear anymore. just showing as fast charging. now it takes about 1hour 15mins to full charge my phone. i used Ampere application and it showed that my phone is charging at maximum rate of 1700mA only. by right it should be getting around 2400mA++
