Help with rooting Umi Super - UMi Super Questions & Answers

Hi all i have been trying to root my umi super device for the past day now and i have followed many ways to root the device but nothing is working.
I keep getting an error invalid OTA installation aborted and when i go into supersu it tried to update but fails every time.
tutorials i have followed word for word:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/umi-super-guide-firmwares-roms-kernel-t3396662
http://community.umidigi.com/thread-6292-1-1.html
a couple video tutorials.
If someone could send me the links that i need only not including the flash_tool.exe maybe that might help i am not to sure.
I have this file 20161017_c239v55_kw_u1 and the files i have tried installing in recovery mode via sd card are called BETA-SuperSU-V2.50.zip, cm13_UMI_SUPER_B2.zip, SR3-SuperSU-v2.79-SR3-20170114223742 and UMi_Super_V7.01_201710308_update but nothing is working.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, if more info is needed please let me know

Should also mention i have tried rootjoy but it is a 16bit application and windows 10 64bit does not support it unfortunately so i cannot run it

Need a little help restoring/Flashing my streak

Hey guys,
Im not new to flashing roms etc,
but this is the first time i have so much trouble with it.
I read the streak how to PDF and followed the instructions on installing superboot.
when i installed superboot, the phone reset itself, and when it turns on, the dell logo shows up and the "home and menu" led starts flashing on and off and the restarts again.
I tried following the instuctions on how to restore the phone, but none of it worked. i specifically followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=805112
and when i try to flash the update.pkg, i get an error at the end about the boot bin or something like that.
anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!
I heard something about a QDL tool i could use...not sure what that is and i couldnt find an exact answer searching the forums.
any help would be greatly appreciated!
EDIT: found a guide on using the QDL tool, im going to try it now wish me luck lol
If u got yours from best buy u need to use QDL. Read carefully and just do as it says
thanks for the tip, it is indeed the best buy exclusive white one....running qdl as we speak
ok everything is good now!
i just need to figure out why when i try to install dj steves rom it gives me
"failed to verify signature"
ok so now i am having a hard time rooting the phone.
I am using the android 2.2 provided from QDL and am trying to root via universal androot which isnt working for me.
any other ways i can root?
note: im using a best buy dell streak
If you are updating to his 1.6 then you dont need to root it.
It it pre-rooted
thanks, I figured it out.
It turns out that the "how to pdf" (while an amazing guide) linked me to outdated versions of the the recovery which is why it would not work.
everything is working now,
running steves 1.6 and loving life. Thanks every one for your help!!!!!

[Q] Rooting, Custom ROM, SD Card Issues.

So let me put in a disclaimer that I am a complete novice when it comes to rooting, installing and using custom recovery, and installing custom ROMs, but nothing ventured, nothing gained so I thought I'd give it a go.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900i running Android Lollipop 5.0, and I absolutely detest the stock OS with all its bloatware. So I was looking into installing the custom PAC ROM for it. After what I presumably thought was enough research into how to perform a root of the device, how to install the custom recovery and finally install the custom ROM, I set off on my journey to begin rooting, it couldn't be that hard right? How wrong I was.
Downloading the latest version of Odin for my particular device, and installing the latest Samsung Drivers was a breeze. I followed the tutorial for rooting the Galaxy S5 , although the UI of Odin differed slightly to what was described. I made my way through it, doubly making sure to not have Re-Partition checked. It installed, or "flashed", if I'm using the term correctly, very quickly. I booted up my device and found the SuperSu app installed. Opening the app, the tutorial says I should have received a prompt to do an update, one which I did not receive. I closed down the app, opened it again, once again no prompt, so I rebooted the device. After several reboots, I googled the issue and found I should try a manual install of SuperSu using the .apk from the ChainFire website. I did as instructed, and the next time SuperSu was opened the update prompt appeared. So I proceeded to follow the steps of the tutorial again, until I was not prompted to disable KNOX. Once again after google searches, I found that this was probably not a big deal, and I could still grant root permissions so I continued on. I've also performed a root check with Root Checker, which has assured me that my device is rooted successfully.
Next I installed TWRP, it went without any relative hitches. But after trying to create a NANDbackup, which everywhere tells me I should do before trying to flash custom ROMs, my microSD card will no longer allow me to write to it from Windows. All attempts result in "Cannot copy item - The device has either stopped responding or been removed", I've formatted the microSD card, I've unmounted and mounted it again. But I can still not write to it via Windows. I'm trying to copy the two .zip files for the PAC ROM and GApps, onto it so I can install from there. But no luck.
I apologise if this post seems long winded, I just wanted as much information in here as possible so that I could get some assistance in fixing my issue, as well as anyone that also has any similar issues can find this as descriptive as possible.
Rooting sm-g900i
Hi thanks for the thread i hope you get your answer, another way is to kind of chat with one of the senior XDA members. i think i'm much more new to this android rooting technology and am hoping to follow in your footsteps (without your current issue). could you pls give a NOOB some sound advise to what i need to do. i would like to go the ODIN way as i want to learn that program, but now there s that "oneclickroot" with the .APK file. which way do you think i should follow. Also what other preperations do i need to take eg NANObackup, remove bootloader(?) etc.
thanks for your time

I've tried everything to root this phone and nothing is working.

Nothing is working. I've tried it with minimal adb, followed the xda tutorials. Nothing is working. I got TWRP on my phone but it fails to install any rom.
Sorry, but you gotta give us more here... Can you not unlock the bootloader, install TWRP, flash Magisk, flash a ROM, or what? What is failing to work? Can you provide logs or screen shots of errors or failures?
This device is well supported by the community, and processes for rooting and flashing ROMs are well defined and easy to follow... If you are having problems I am sure we can help, but we need more info than "nothing is working", it's like taking your car to the mechanic and saying "something is wrong, fix it" without telling them WHAT is wrong they can't be expected to read your mind.

Need support on 7.1.2 for Y5 2017 mya-l22

I have successfully booted the rr 7.1.2 rom from 4pda on my device every thing seems very well except in performance its much slower than the stuck firmware , also i have check the antutu score and it get lower by 10k points , i have check the gpu with another app and the working percent was stuck at 0%
So if any one could help fixing the hwc , kernel , hw coding and decoding,, it will make the device fly again

I have been trying to get this room to work but failed everytime, because of the encryption.
Everytime I get decryption successful but something went wrong. As far as I understand the encryption should be disabled on this ROM completely, but I can't get it done. I tried reformatting data to ext4 but that didn't work.
Edit: The problem was that I was using Magisk as root solution. I tried with the provided SuperSU and it all worked.
My device runs well with rr. I only notice the performance issue on startup, right after but the phone is very slow.
I noticed that there is no swap memory use in this ROM, while in stock there was a deal memory partition.
I'll try to figure out if we can enable it in this ROM. That might improve performance.

Don't mean to hijack this thread but im desperate. Im trying to root mt MYA L22 but can't seem to find the right instructions. Posted here two times but no one is replying. Could you tell me how you unlocked bootloader on your phone? I already have the code from Huawei website. I am stuck at the cmd prompt when i type "list adb devices" from a cmd prompt opened through the adb and fastboot folder that ive downloaded. It says adb devices attached but shows nothing after that, basically an empty list. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I went through that thread. I understand you rooted it but then started having problems? Like you couldn't download? Where you able to solve those problems? Now I am worried to root it.

I'm not sure which post you saw, but I think my post on there were with an other device and yes, I have never bricked a device unrecoverable (yet).
That said, you will always be taking a risk when rooting or trying custom ROMS.
Then again if you never take risks you won't get anywhere. The question is how much are you willing to risk. In this case are you willing to risk your phone for the extra possibilities you might get when rooting it
First think you need to do before modifying anything is learning how to backup and restore.

Thanks JudgeDread. Yes, I've rooted several phones in my life time. I understand the risk, but I tend to research about that particular rooting method with my phone before going ahead and doing it. I feel like the rooting method for my phone is particularly more risky, not because of what I read but rather from what info I am NOT able to find. Did you have a Huwaei Y5 2017 MYA l22 that you rooted successfully without issues? Can you point me to the instructions? That thread is a bit confusing.

Yes exact same model, rooted and after several tries custom ROM.
I unlocked using the official method and then flashed TWRP in the recovery partition.
The difficulty was to get back into TWRP after rebooting. So I would advice to immediately install a root solution. I used Magisk. While root works without problem Magisk modules will only work if you use the f2fs workaround.
I am now running Resurrection remix (Android 7.1.2) without many issues. Only every now and then a forced close of the system UI.
It took some time to get it running. Because I used a different root solution the provided on the same page as the ROM. So on install use the provided SuperSU. After install you can change of you want.
Also the patches are needed. I still have bad videos on YouTube but haven't looked into the issue much yet.
hi , good news for Huawei y5 2017(MYA-L22) users.

Thanks again for replying. Unfortunately though, 80 percent of what you just said flew over my head
I am not an expert but I can follow instructions! Any step by step guide on how to root it? So far I've gotten the unlock code from Huawei. I downloaded the ADB and fast boot folder and launched from that folder the cmd prompt. I type in "list of ADB deviced" and below comes an empty list. Please share what you did.

For rooting you need unlocked bootloader ( if you don't do ir then below won't work).
1)download the 4pda app from google play store and register an account .
2) download the TWRP.img file from 4pda website here is the link
https://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=823938&view=findpost&p=74424572
3) enable developer mode in your phone by going to setting about phone , tap 6 times on the build number.
4)go to developer mode and enable usb debugging and oem factory unlock .
5) go to your pc install adb here link https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
6) now conect the phone to the pc and run cmd , type adb reboot bootloader . (Your device ahould restart and enter bootloader mode (white screen)).
7) now take the TWRP.img (must be copyied to desktop ) and type in cmd cd desktop.
8) type fastboot flash recovery TWRP.img (change the file name to TWRP ).
9) type fastboot reboot.
Now you have successfully install TWRP on your device.
