Hello,
Suddenly the bottom mic of the phone does not record as it should, and actually I have to speak very loud for it to record something. Upper mic works fine, I flashed another ROM and the problem stays.
At the moment I cannot make any calls unless I switch the phone to speaker (that uses the upper mic), nor send any voice notes on whatsapp....Any advise?

Hi, All.
I have a Samsung S4 and from day 1 I have had this call problem.
When I make or receive calls, the person on the other end cannot hear my voice at all. I have disabled noise reduction both in the settings menu and have toggled it on/off during the call.
Now, I've done a few tests.
1) During calls the other person can hear noises that I simulate such as tapping on the table or tapping on the phone. I tested both the top (for noise cancellation?) microphone and lower microphone and the tapping noise is definitely louder on the lower microphone.
2) Voice works perfectly when using my headset. (Not a network issue)
3) Tested voice recording and it works fine. I spoke on the top of the phone and bottom of the phone (to see if it receives noise on the top microphone) and the voice is definitely louder when voice is coming from the bottom of the phone.
4) Voice command works fine.
5) Calls work find during speaker mode.
Now all I can think of is that this is a problem with my setting or this is a software issue.
Can anybody help me?
Thanks,

So I've factory reset my phone.
Results are I can now BARELY hear my voice SOMETIMES.
Like for example I try speaking in a completely silent environment, they only way the caller hears my garbled up voice is when I cup to phone my mouth.
This even won't work if I turn on the noise reduction feature.
So I'm guessing there is still some noise reduction feature on apart from what we can activate/deactivate during the call and in the settings menu.
Is my voice that ugly that it's now considered to be noise!? I've been told that I have a radio voice

Well cant say whats the main cause of the issue may be the mic has some issue
If possible b4 showing it to service centre flash a firmware using Odin and reset the device and then see if the problem is gone check the voice b4 installing any apps etc
Recently got myself a LG G2. Only issue I'm having is the person I'm talking to during a call can barely hear me (muffled and quiet). It works fine in a normal call regardless of the voice enhancement/cancellation being on or off. Problem only occurs with speaker. Sound is the same whether I'm talking in to bottom microphone or the top microphone. Phone is not rooted
I updated the phone a couple weeks ago. I remember using speaker in call with out an issue when I first got the phone. I can't remember if I updated to Kitkat and had it working. Or if updating to Kitkat has caused the problem
Also, NO sound appears to be sent when using Viber with speaker 'on'. However, speaker 'off' works fine
Android 4.4.2
Kernel 3.4.0
Software Version D80220a-AME-XX
Thanks in advance

Hello,
Can someone please heeeelp me, I have a Samsung s4 I9505 that I bought with a problem:
When I call someone I can hear perfectly but the other person hears a crackling sound and almost no sound but ONLY IN NORMAL CALL mode, when in SPEAKER it seems to work just fine, also with the headset the crackling sound persists.
The problem also persists in any app like viber, watsapp, voice recorder..
Things I have tried:
Restarting, factory reset
Different firmware like Kitkat 4.4 and Lollipop 5.01
Changing the charge dock with the microphone
Is there another microphone that is activated while on speaker mode than on normal call or what is the difference between normal call and speaker mode?
Please help,
Samsung have returned my phone twice saying no fault found, but every time I make or receive a call there is no sound on the other end. The mic works for google search, video recording, voice recorder app etc, but as soon as I make a call no one can hear me at all. Any ideas welcome please before I end up selling it as faulty. Gutted and tearing my hair out!
Hey!
I have a similar issue with my S7. Microphone does not work only during the calls. Turning on speakerphone does not help (as it should when you have a broken bottom microphone) and also if I connect headset then the microphone from the headset works. In all other aps both (botom, top) microphones work (I do have stereo in video recording etc.). Did it happen to you after system update or when?
Cheers
A small update:
I have found that the issue is even more silly for me.
So I make a call and the person to whom I am calling cannot hear me. Then I connect a headphones, but ones without a microphone. And suddenly the microphone in the phone starts working. But the moment I disconnect them it stops.
Can you confirm this happening for you?
its old, but i have same problem. Now, I am trying to flash stock rom and see if it will work. After restart, I microphone works only once in call app, that it dont work. But i can record audio with it and in any other app it works. Idk what is the problem, but i want to find out
Hello all,
This is my first Huawei phone, I have enjoyed it, but there is one major problem at this point. Out of the box the "stereo" effect from the bottom speaker and upper (ear) speaker sounded great. I ran a couple updates and now I can barely hear the other person when I place calls and the "stereo" effect is essentially gone. I have to use the "speaker phone" function or use headphones otherwise its almost impossible to hear the person I'm calling. Yes, it is turned all the way up..... (in advance). I'm in Canada on Rogers Current Build #: VKY-L09C654B198.
Anyone else with this problem or is it just a lemon?
Thanks in advance.
