Heya,
So I managed to crack the glass back screen of my Yotaphone 2 YD206. The e-ink works normally, only the glass cracked. I wonder if the e-ink screen is glued to the glass, so I would need only the glass screen or the entire back screen?
Is there a way to get a replacement so I can replace it by myself, or just with my official supplier?
Thanks in advance.
Hi, I opened mine up some time ago, and yes the epd seems very glued to the glass, but its pretty easy to replace if you can find replacement parts. No heatgun needed, just a t5 screw driver and some plastic plectrums or something like that to pry it open.

Hi, has anyone disassembled omnia 7 screen before? May I know whether the glass and lcd are glued together and whether it is difficult to pry open the screen? (I have pried an ipod touch screen before)
*I just broke my omnia glass and thinking of getting a replacement from ebay but the lcd and glass package is too expensive (>$100) while the glass only is below $20 so I was thicking of getting the glass only.
Thanks
First of all, how the hell did you manage that - it's Gorilla Glass!
There is a tear down of the phone here
Quite complicated and delicate process unless you are familiar with doing this kind of thing.
As for the glass being connected to the digitizer, yes I think they will be stuck together with some sort of glue resin. Probably not the best idea to prise away and try and fit yourself, I suspect you'll be disappointed with a homemade attempt to stick a new pane of glass on.
I actually couldn't find the glass-only on eBay, I could only find the £80+ glass and digitizer items.
Claim it on household insurance, send it back to Samsung or save up the £80?
Folks
cracked the screen and my question is, what do i need to buy?
looking on ebay and the have Touch Screen Digitizer Glass Lens and then there is the more expensive Screen Assembly.
the screen is unresponsive but the lcd isn't cracked, would i get away with just replacing the touch screen and digitiizer or do i need the screen assembly?
Many thanks for your replies
Paul
Unless you have the skills and tools for separating the glass digitizer from the LCD, you're better off just getting the front assembly that has been pulled from another N4 like this one and fixing your phone in a few minutes (if you already know how to open the N4, which is really easy to do.)
Dear XDA,
I have a note 3 with a cracked screen. The LDC works, but the digitizer is cracked. Now I know that there is a digitizer and an LCD and those are two different things, but now I see that there is something like glass. There is no connection from the glass to the screen, only the crystal UV glue holds it in place. Is it a digitizer with different technology? I do not want to remove the broken glass, put the glue, put the new glass, and then get no touch.
A quick answer will be very helpful, thank you!
(if the digitizer really is the glass, how does it transmit the touch senses to the phone without any connectors?)
My understanding is that the glass on top of the LCD is tantamount to a glass screen protector. If you removed the glass and touched the screen directly, it would respond to finger touches because the digitizer resides beneath the LCD.
Hi everybody,
some time ago I dropped my X Style and a tiny crack appeared in the bottom left angle... The phone is still perfect in everything else, it's not worth it to replace the screen for something like this... It's just a little ugly.
Then I found this on ebay:
"MOTOROLA MOTO X STYLE BLACK SCREEN DISPLAY GLASS OUTER LENS DIGITIZER XT1572
This is just the outer lens, not the digitizer" (I cannot post links, but you can reach it by using "mJnRmL" code in the google url shortener)
But I'm not sure what "lens" and "digitalizer" refers to... Is it the whole external glass replacement, or just the borders or something else?
And if it's the whole glass, do you think is safe (and worth it) to perform the replacement by myself, or maybe pay same shop to do it for me?
Thank you in advance!
The glass is glued to the screen. Unless you have experience with separating glass from the display on phones, followed by applying a fresh coat of LOCA Glue, and using a UV light to cure it, I'd just go for the whole assembly. The digitizer is under the glass, above the display.
It's not the same phone, but here's a video of how it's done:
Hi all,
My v20 h990 outer frame glass are broken.
It's berley seen but the whole screen is broken.
The good new it that the phone acts fine no dead areas so digitizer are in perfect shape.
My question is if i can replace the outer glass screen without screw the whole phone up?
In fixit and youtube videos i can see that thay taking the whole phone down to parts but it involves replacing the digitizer.
I order the part without the digitizer now the only question is if I can heat up the outer frame and replace the part without screw the whole thing up.
Thanks
Bump...
Have you learned how to replace glass alone. I have same issue but all videos show digitizer and glass together.
Could you post a link showing what part you have?
Got same issue have you able to replace the outer glass?
