Did anyone notice the black on the screen tend to be greyish and less contrast in direct sunlight?
This how to fix it:
1- Go to about phone and tap build number 7 times to access developer options.
2- in developer options find increase readability in sunlight and turn it off.
3- turn off developer options.
4- clear data for settings app to remove developer option from the settings.
You can skip 3 and 4 if you need to tweak other settings in developer options.
I Know this option is meant to improve readability in sunlight but i prefer more contrast in my screen and still the screen brightness is more than enough.
You might want to warn people that they will also lose other settings when clearing the data from the settings app.

No need to even list #3 and #4.
Having Developer Options on doesn't hurt you in any way and can only help -- like tweaking Windows animation scale, Transition animation scale, Animator duration scale (I set them all to 0.5X).
All you need to do it turn off that one misguided option you mention which seems to do the opposite of its intended purpose.

I want the Browswer to either,
1 - utilize the auto brightness function
2 - keep the brightness the same as what my setting is on
Is this that hard to do? why does the browser get it's own friggin brightness setting? At lease give us an option to take route 1 or route 2 on top of being able to change it.
Definitely something to think about in future roms.
And here is another example of why I despise auto brightness settings on screens. I like mine cranked all the way...except on my Sharp Aquos because that would lead to retinal bleeding at over 450nits
Just swipe from left to right along the notification bar to change the brightness to what you want.

i'd much prefer it automatically matching the brightness to the system setting. Hopefully, that will be fixed in the upcoming roms.
BTW, to increase screen brightness, turn Power Savings off in the Display settings. Doing this keeps the screen at 100% all the time --the browser and other apps will not dim the display anymore.

Very annoying. I have no idea why someone would do this. It makes no sense.

Same here, i don't need a very bright screen to browse
But having a auto for browser is basic setting in my mind though

But then you go outside and you can't see your screen because it's so low. This is specifically the reason it bugs me. I too love low brightness indoors but it sucks when you can't see the screen very well to turn it back up.
My only complaint is every page has to be white like a bright sheet of paper.
Back in the old days, computers had white text on black screens. Worked great at night or in dark rooms.

Also consume less battery with black background
I have a problem where the screen brightness varies by itself without any input from me. I have turned off automatic brightness and set the screen brightness at the lowest level in an attempt to save battery life. However, when I use the phone at a later time I would recognize a difference in the screen brightness. When I go to check it in settings, the screen brightness level is set at a different level.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Go into settings sound and brightness and uncheck the power saving option at the bottom and ofcourse make sure u uncheck auto brightness.

also i read in another post that the TouchWiz user interface has a built in feature that will adjust brightness when you swip your finger at the top of the screen, making it brighter when you swipe left to right and dimming the screen when you swipe right to left.

That must be it! Thanks! I must have swiped left/right on the top of the screen without realizing it. Kind of annoying for them to sneak in a feature like that. I can see it being useful but I prefer the power control widget. Any idea how I can disable that feature of touchwiz?
getting ridd of touchwiz was the first thing i did when i got my epic so i dont really know much about it .

How did you get rid of touchwiz? I installed Launcherpro over it but that doesn't do away with touchwiz.
There was a thread on here for that from what i can remember, i cant look for it right at this moment because im at work but you should be able to find it yourself. Search for "removing touchwiz UI" if you cant find it go to google (it might have been a diff forum/Blog it was a few days ago).
You guys can change your home screen launcher, but you won't be able to get rid of TouchWiz until a vanilla ROM comes out. The ability to adjust adjust your brightness via swipe on the notification bar is - for better or worse (better imho) - not dependant on you using the TW launcher.

If you root the epic, you CAN manually uninstall all touchwiz packqages to remove the ui...
That notification taskbar swipe is pretty handy tho... thanks to whoever shared it... I like to keep my screen dim for the most part... but that is soooo much easier to use when, say I go outside and need to adjust quickly! It even works in landscape mode! Nice!

Root your Epic, download Root Explorer from market (worth the price), make sure you already have Launcher PRO running, then go to running applications and force close TouchWiz30Launcher then go to root explorer > system > app (make sure you mount it as r/w) > and delete TouchWiz30Launcher.apk and .odex, then reboot and that's it.
You can also use terminal app if you're familiar with commands.

That... is... awesome! Did not know that. Guess I can get rid of the brightness app since adjusting the brightness through the menu on the fly was painfully boring.
Looked on google for this and found other people asking about it but no answer so far.
If i leave the screen brightness set to auto-adjust, the phone NEVER adjust the screen brightness down to it's lowest setting, even if i am sitting in a pitch dark room. Is there some way to adjust the range of the brightness setting so that it will actually use the lowest brightness? It seems beyond stupid that in a pitch dark room the screen doesn't go down to it's lowest level.
Most of the time i find the screen to be too bright, so if i could adjust the auto-brightness over-all to be darker, that would be cool too.
failing that, is there an app that makes adjusting the brightness quicker then digging down into the settings to move the slider?
thanks
I use widgetsoid (free) from the market place to do what you speak of and 7 other things as well.
i think i already have something that does what it looks like widgetsoid does. I have a button on the screen that i can tap that switches the screen between 3 brightness settings. i was just wondering if there was one where you could tap and get a slider. Seems silly to have the actual slider itself on the screen since that would take up so much room. But a button that would open up into a slider would be nice.
I'd still prefer to be able to adjust the autobrightness settings and use that if possible.
You can set autobrightness levels with tasker. There's a thread floating around with details.

Again, Widgetsoid does this. Once it is setup, modify, settings/Brightness Modes and set it Custom (Seekbar) or use one of the other 2 settings. You can change those as well with custom. Exit. Go to toggle and you have slider with one click on one button, which option of adding 7 more.

ah ok, cool, thanks. I'm going to see if i can find the thread about tasker since i'd prefer to have auto-brightness working better. if that fails then i'll give widgetsoid a try.
thank you
Just what I was looking for Screen brightness less then 10% and Less then Curvefish's toggle to 4%. I was looking for the 1% brighness and I think i got with the Widgetsoid only compaint is no exit after setting... Thanks
Hi to all,
i own an i9505 with (rooted) XXUAMDM firmware and in my opinion auto brightness is too dim even at +5; is there a tweak (for rooted) to increase brightness values without disable auto brightness feature?
(Of course Power saving mode is disabled and i have tried with "Auto adjust screen tone" on and off with no results)
Are auto brightness default values enough bright for you?
It's the same for me with ME2
Envoyé depuis mon GT-I9505 avec Tapatalk
Nobody has a solution? I also tested PlayStore's autobrightness apps but they are not faithfuls to light changes like stock one. It would be perfect to add "X" units to every value on stock autobrightness... but unfortunately i'm not able to do that... please devs help me/us
fix
I found a solution,
Go into Settings > My device> Display > Screen Mode>
Uncheck Adapt Display then choose Dynamic.
This should fix the issue.

Is there any way to enable sRGB in Emui? The option for it shows up when I search in settings, but when I press the search result, I get redirected to developer options, where it is nowhere to be found. The setting is obviously there, but I guess Huawei has disabled it or something? I hate these over saturated colors!
Nice, yet unsatisfying find! Would love to have sRGB enabled as well. It was my preferred mode on S7 as well.

Ok. From what I understand, the mate 9 pro covers 100% of the NTSC color gamut which is higher than sRGB gamut. So what that means is that colors are true to life as displayed on the screen. There should be no reason to choose sRGB even if available as an option.
Source of this info is on the huawei website.
I sent them an email, here is the answer:
"We are happy to hear that you are satisfied with your new phone, despite that you can't activate sRGB. For now, it is unfortunately like this that the possibility for sRGB is still not in the system. It might come in a new update, but we can not make any promises that it will. We are sorry for that. Regards Huawei Support Jörgen"
