Top device! - OnePlus 3T Guides, News, & Discussion

Just want to point out that our beloved 3t is at the top of the popular category list on XDA in Tapatalk.
XDA has a forum foe practically any new device in the market, but we're number one!
I've owned multiple so called flag ship devices, this is the first time I've had the device thats the hottest device on XDA.

More development on this phone than any other on that list. Probably more than all those other phones combined. Check out the development section of those phones and then check out the 3T section.

Ok thanks.
My 6P flew out on my scooter and I wanted to cry. I loved it because I didn't have to worry about security/software updates.
The Pixel XL price is too much, so I'll look at the OP3T development section and learn as much as I can.

sold my 6P to try out my first Oneplus device... been loving this thing since i got it. I truly think this is the new nexus when it comes to price and development. I am excited for the future.

Nice. Community and dev support is one of the reasons I got this phone (along with the incredible value - mostly flagship quality for half the price of the competition). XDA has not disappointed me in this regard!

Best device ever especialy considering the price :good:

Best phone I've ever had.

Agree! And I think 1st time I didn't flash any custom ROM 30s after getting the phone too!
Only think I'm not 100% satisfied with is the camera, but still, given the price and overall quality I'm absolutely happy with the phone.

IMHO the updates have to be mentioned. As root user OnePlus gives me a full zip which is flash able with twrp and after this SU. No problem, no wipe, everything is as smooth as desired.
Updates come often.
Way more than I ever got from Samsung or LG.
The device power also speaks for itself.
If Oneplus keeps this, I'll have found my future supplier .

With the announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S8, we should see a price drop of the OP3T at the end of April? Hopefully anyway...

OnePlus never dropped the price of the OnePlus 3. Op3 is still being sold in India officially and the price is same since the launch. OnePlus might give some credit or debit card specific offers but I'm not expecting it to be much.

I think you need to flash the firmware from the support page.

It appears that the Chinese and UK phones are different;
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/chinese-phone-1-3-conversion.459005/
399.00 GBP (32,348.38 INR) + the bundle, case, screen protector 26.98 GBP (2,187.84 INR) = 425.98 GBP (34,495.68 INR)
Or I could look on ebay for used ones. Not many around, but I've seen Pixel XL 32GB for cheaper then the total price above...

Chinese model won't work properly on T-Mobile or ATT if anyone is wondering. No LTE.

Nexus two is real, out by christmas

City AM claims that Carphone Warehouse has signed an agreement with google to distribute the nexus two before christmas. no info about what manufacturer will make the phone, but it will ship with gingerbread and replace the N1 as the dev phone.
http://www.cityam.com/news-and-analysis/google-and-carphone-mobile-deal
This would be awesome, I just hope it isn't too good to be true.
UK only? i dont understand why that would be..
i am assuming they have exclusivity for the UK, probably not for the US. i think they are somehow related to best buy, which could possibly mean the n2 will be sold in "actual" stores.
There's no Nexus Two and there will be no Nexus Two
It could be real because we need a next generation developer phone for more advanced stuff that the old Nexus One doesn't support due to its current hardware. In order for Google to develop a better on screen multitouch keyboard, and other advanced gestures, the Nexus One's poor touchscreen won't do it. If Gingerbread is confirmed to have native front facing camera support, they will need a new hardware with a front facing camera to test it on. Google might also add a gyroscope and other innovative hardware (including a higher resolution screen) in the new phone to set another standard for the 2011 high end Android phones.
4"screen with front facing camera...
I would get it...

Nexus Two Launching Alongside Gingerbread in Time for the Holidays?
by Kevin Krause on October 26th, 2010
An interesting report has surfaced from London-based business paper City A.M. that claims the followup to the Nexus One — what very well could be dubbed the Nexus Two — will be released through an exclusive deal with Carphone Warehouse in the UK as the second Google-branded Android handset. This comes as a new but similar approach to the sale of the original N1, moving away from a single Google-owned site pedaling the smartphone but still bucking carrier obligations.
Other than the fact that City A.M. happens to be a pretty reputable source, we have plenty of reasons to believe the Nexus Two is real. What better way to launch the latest update to Android, Gingerbread, then alongside a brand new Nexus handset? The discontinuation of sales through Google of the Nexus One over the summer and the throttling back of N1 support through the soon to be read-only forums all hint at an upcoming successor, especially after Google bigwigs remain incessant that they haven’t given up on their handheld ventures, only the model they originally used to sell mobile phones.
Questions still remain unanswered, including which manufacturer might take the reigns on the Nexus Two. Google could very well stick with HTC, though Motorola and their top-secret Tegra 2 handset remains a viable option. Heck, we may have even already spied the Nexus Two floating around as a codenamed device. What’s your guess?

I hope this is true. Been waiting for a proper Nexus replacement with an eay unlock bootloader. The G2 is not cutting it...
Hopefully it comes with a keyboard, if not then I will still buy it.

N1 is still a highly capable device. Don't see a reason why Big G would release N2 so soon. HTC and Samsung are making more powerful devices that can support gingerbread so hardware is already there.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus from Newegg for $421.03

Newegg just dropped the price of the GSM Samsung Galaxy Nexus (i9250) to $449.99. However, when you combine it with a Simple Mobile sim card ($2.99), you get the combo discount and it drops the price to only $439.48. MOD EDIT: referral links.
Having said that, if you want peace of mind and want to be able to return the phone if need be without extra costs, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus from Amazon, even if it costs a few more bucks, may still be preferable.

I see. How is one supposed to know which phone is which? Does it say on the box?
There are reviewers saying the one from Newegg is a Yakju build.
Also, that a few of them have arrived already opened and seemingly used (no introductory sign-in screen).
Makes me a little wary...

You are welcome. You want yakyu as it is the build that gets the updates first and directly from Google. If your device didn't come with yakyu, you can use the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit from this site to put yakyu on it quite easily. Having said that, the average person will not notice the difference between yakyu and other builds.

You can install an app that will tell you the build info. It will not say it on the box and if you ask the seller, they will likely not know or provide incorrect info.
People on XDA prefer yakyu. Everyone else doesn't care and yakyuxw is not per se bad. Having said that, people on XDA also don't care what it comes with as they can just install yakyu using the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit.

How does the manufacturers warranty from Samsung come into play with these phones being brought from on-line retailers? Is it an American warranty or does it have to be shipped overseas for unforeseen problems?

Custom phones shipping time was pushed back from 4 to 6-8 days "due to high demand" so they must be selling well, right?
The rep at my normal store said they were selling quite a few. I was in twice before buying the card and he was really knowledgeable about the phone so it was nice to see someone actually helping people understand the value.

Im willing to bet there aren't much sale going on with the iPhone 5S about to come out.
I love android and all, but a lot of people prefer iPhones.
That and to a lesser degree, Nexus 5 + Note 3
Depends on what well means. Probably a little better than most Motorola's given the marketing budget & no carrier exclusivity but it's nowhere close to an iPhone or SGS.

its that iPhone 5S. better have android on it
And in regards to motorola failing, it is IMPOSSIBLE to synchronize same day release for all carriers unless youre apple, even then, its really hard because of Verizon. If they are in the course of a month, like the S4, thats pretty successful. The HTC One, on the other hand, thats a fail.
But exclusivity wise with the motomaker, yea, thats a fail. IDK how much AT&T offered to pay upfront, but i dont think its worth it.

iPhones have there place, just not with me anymore. I got so tired of jailbreaking and waiting months for a new jailbreak to appear after a updated version of IOS came out. All I wanted was the ability to run iblacklist. Anyway, I really want a Moto X but somehow thinking the LG G2 might morph into a N5 really has me excited. Also I'm very curious what the Note 3 and new wearable accessories might be just around the corner. Moto X, Note 3, Nexus 5, they will all be winners. Tough decisions ahead on what to get..

Tell that to Apple and Samsung. Instead of getting more people with Moto X 's in their hands, they will most definitely lose market share to the G2, the 2013 Nexus and the Sony Honami. Samsung was a garbage cellphone maker until they followed the Apple model, and I won't even buy a Samsung phone, but Moto would do well to follow their lead if they want to sell more than 5 million phones world wide.

Nope, the same treatment will be needed for all previous Nexus, which Google ACTUALLY does, but not carrier-oriented procedure.
But taking in mind that the Nexus 5 will be the first on be more than a full year on the market, the drop of price will definitely go for it first than anything.
I doubt it will have price drops this year, i have been in contact with a supplier and he says its a premium price with those specs, motorola has been strict with specific details till november.

The fact that it has high end specs mean nothing when it comes to phone holding value over time. Google will never drop the price via the playstore but as the previous guy said, many users who will get it via contract subsidy for $200, will sell it for $550 new on ebay.

Ive never phone a phone from those circumstances so i would assume that to be the case and you would have to go and check to make sure its clean and ready to go. seems like a lot of time/work...but idk

There is a risk that the phone you buy is blacklisted. I normally check the person's feedback and look at their EBay rating. Most people that have a long history of selling stuff on EBay want be looking to scam you.

Toss a coin, see a lawyer, read the other threads, etc...
Read the other threads.
Anyway buy if you need one ASAP.
It's a great phone!! I purchased a 64gb on amazon 2 weeks ago and have zero regrets. Remember that the next "flagship phone" is always on the way!! If you like it buy it

I've gone back three pages and didn't see another thread on this...I'm sure they exist but who wants to dig?
Anyway, I've owned two of these devices and had issues with both. The first one at launch was the plain aluminum, which I sent back because I wasn't happy with the feel. It felt "hollow" for lack of a better word. I don't know how to explain it; coming from the Nexus 6, I expected this solid aluminum beast like the HTC M7 when it came out.
The second one, a couple of months later, was the black, which had the weird pinkish screen hue going on. On top of that, when I bought a couple of different cases, the removal of said cases caused the phone to tweak and bend. But not bend as in bend test videos, rather if you took one hand and grabbed the top, other hand grabbed the bottom, and twisted it (top twist left and bottom twist right). My phone didn't sit flat on a table after that, so I returned it.
I've read around that some of the most recently manufactured units have a fixed screen, so I'm thinking about giving this a third try. I've since moved on to an iPhone 6s+, but still have my Nexus 5, 6 and Galaxy S6 Edge+.

I have a thread created here that is similar, OP.
I want this device as well, but instead of posing a question "Do I ..." I posed the question "Would YOU buy this phone again tomorrow"
The question really isn't whether there are good deals out there for this device, it's whether or not a year into this device people are still happy with it, and on XDA that's a hard thing to get a yes on..
There were some things that have come up with the best buy deal... For instance it's my understanding that if you buy from Best Buy you will only have Huawei's warranty and not Google's... Might make you look elsewhere?
Anyways... Good luck. Ill be picking mine up this week somewhere

I bought a refurb for $316 from BB. Arrived in like new condition. I would think twice about paying $399 for this. The only reason I purchased the 6p because I will be travelling overseas and need a new phone. My 2013 Moto X is aging and very frustrating to use. If you are in no hurry, wait.

Yeah... True...
I have a V10 that is not going away. I really am picking this phone up to satisfy my flashing needs, plus it's a nexus phone!!!
It will probably be something I use as a daily driver at some point... Maybe... I have 2 batteries for my V10, an external charger for the spare, and a 200gb SD card.. I can't see me choosing the 6P over the V10 to keep with me on the go, or with my sim in it ... That may change...
You like the refurb? I thought about buying the refurb... Don't want to get screwed out of the Google warranty...

I bought mine @ Amazon/PrimeDay for $370/64gb plus tax with Prime free same day shipping, so keep checking Amazon website.
I sold mine S7 Edge, then bought HTC 10 which was a disaster (battery life literally was going down 4-5% when idle) and decided to use vanilla android. i see no difference in day to day use/look & feel compared to my previous phones

For me, the most important difference that I like is that Google's phones are updating more frequently (monthly now) than others. Official Nougat is just around the corner for Nexus phones but others have to wait!!!
Just picked up a Gold 64G for $350 privately. Good deal I thought.
BUY....no WAIT....no BUY.....no WAIT.....I'm not sure....what was the question again?
I just picked mine up from Best Buy today. Love it, I'm going for a marriage license.
