Change BOE panel for LGD? - Moto G4 Plus Questions & Answers

Hi! I'd like to know if it is possible to change a G4+ with BOE panel (XT1644 64gb) for a LGD panel, I'd rather prefer a device with screen retention instead of ghost touch issue. Thanks!

Only the service center people will do it properly. Actually they'll first try to fix the touch screen by 'calibrating' it, as they did in my case. If you want to go for screen replacement then ask them to do that. And yes the newer panels don't have such issues. Call up the moto customer care. :good:

Newer LGD or BOE panels?

Wait, you want to change BOE to LGD? Isn't LGD that has screen burn and ghost touches problems?
Mine is LGD and I'm getting some screen burn visible when I boot into TWRP. I was hoping to change to BOE but I'm very skeptical that Motorola here in Brazil will make that happen.

As far as I know, BOE has ghost touch issue, LGD screen burn.

Can you please explain the procedures to get Motorola Customer Services change the panel? I went once to Motorola Customer Service Center and after checking my phone for like 4 hours they proposed me that they will change the SOFTWARE (God knows what does that mean) and charge a little amount for that. I guess they didn't even understand the problem of screen burn-in. So what should I tell them to do? Will they change the panel if I just tell them to do so?

Droid Turbo Stolen (More Info Inside)

So basically, I was in Israel for a month, and of course I had my Turbo with me, along with an Israeli SIM card. To avoid repeating myself, I'll refer you to the post I made in a local Facebook group. Unfortunately, this was actually the first time I brought anything other than a key to the beach with me (1/30 days), and whether it's a coincidence that I was robbed that day, or the fact that the culprits watched me stash it, I'll never know.
Unless the police recover my Turbo, this is goodbye to the subforum. (I just ordered a Nexus 6P)
I appreciate all the work that certain users have put in to make our experience the best possible.
Side note: I actually had multiple completely random people give me money after I asked directions to the police station on the street, so I only have the best to say about Israelis in general. Also, if you think you can help me find the phone, let me know.

OK, just read your Facebook post. You already know that. In fact, sounds like you have the same type app I have installed. Good for you. Hope you recover it.

Is there any method or application which we come to know that newly purchased turbo has genuine Led display.
Actually I bought a used Turbo and when I compared it at full brightness with my Maxx and another Turbo I felt that it is more yellowish in comparison to both of these. I I'm suspecious that the genuine Led unit has been replaced.

When you use the Display Tester app, does it show 1440p? There's not that many 5.2" 1440p AMOLED displays out there, that I'm aware of...

Are you running a custom ROM, even ComputerFreak's perhaps?
Says you have "soft keys" And I don't. Also your measurements are slightly different.

No sir, I'm at stock 5.1.
Actually after applying glass protector for led I felt it sometimes less sensitive the Touch Keys of my Turbo(and this makes me more suspecious about Led replacement).
So I I'm using "Handy Soft Keys" software instead of hardware touch keys.
Which measurements are different and what do you guess from these differed measurements ???

I made the same comparison with my friends 's Moto x2
And the result was same. Turbo display is more in yellow colour. It seems that the genuine Led had been replaced with LCD. Is it possible although the pixel density shows more than 565?? Also when I used the "Branding, contrast, saturation test" I noticed that my Maxx has background textured type display whereas Turbo has plain display.

Stock PPI is 565. That can't change. It's hardware related.
Stock DPI is 640. That's software related and can be changed. Some custom ROMs like Resurrection Remix go smaller, to fit more stuff onto the screen.
Here's mine:
Since I don't have soft keys, only the capacitive keys, my screen size doesn't show full 5.2" since some of the screen is being used for the keys and not for display. At least that's my reasoning.
It's possible that the yellow tinted unit or the other unit has experienced some type of burn in.

What type of burn?
Is it possible that an led display is burnt out and it still give display?
u say u think it has been replaced with an lcd instead of an amoled (highly unlikely). however that is the easiest thing to check. go to a dark room, make a wave gesture over the phone to bring up active display and check to see if only time info lights up and the rest is completely black, or if the black emits light (i.e it is grayish). if it is completely black it's an amoled if not it is an lcd. make sure the room is dark (your bedroon at night for example with shutters off etc). keep in mind that no two screens are alike. maybe it is the original but a different batch. i had that on a moto x where the screen was yellow tinted (brand new sealed from store), got it replaced and the next one was much better. also dont expect to ever see true white on an amoled screen (take ur maxx beside a good lcd and compare whites and you will understand what i am talking about)

First of all thank you for your help.
Now at first, I checked in the dark room and found that it is an LED not the LCD.
Second.... Yes it is possible that it may be from different badge but it is also possible that this badge belongs to low quality display as none of the three mobiles(Moto x2,Droid Maxx& another Turbo)resembles to this display and it is prominently visible when compared to those.
Third... I know that Motorola's display is a little bit yellowish green when compared to Samsung etc.
Note: I also noted that it's viewing angles are less than another Turbo...

Woah okay, if it's there in download mode I suspect a burn-in, but I'm not sure whether that's possible on an OLED screen. You might want to hand back your device depending on how long you have had it for.
yeah the problem is I can't return it back I never see something like this before

No, burn-in or retention is very, very rare on LCD panels. It can happened, though. Google LG G4 screen burn in and you'll find tons of reports. My G4 had massive burn-ins.

Screen burn

Ever since nougat update I can see screen burn in top right where time is displayed. What do you guys recommend? Should I use warranty? Will it increase?

It is a common problem with every LCD hd displays and amoled displays
The software puts a lot of brightness in the screen, and the screen can't handle this. Use the Bluelight Filter app with the black filter in 5%. The LCD of this phone is not designed to support super white-brightness screen.

Ghost images on status bar.

Hello XDA members,
I have noticed weird behaviour on Mi A1 stock Oreo.
Ghost images from previous notification and status icons is seen on status bar.
Initially I thought its launcher(official nova prime) issue and changed it(now lawnchair) but issue remains same.
Did anybody else also noticed this(attached image)?

That's screen burn in. You won't see them in the screenshot. Usually happens when you use your device with much more brightness, or you keep your screen on for a lot of time(usually more than 10 minutes).
If you don't do any of the above mentioned things, you should visit the nearest service center, because the screen might be faulty.
Its happens .. U can go to service centre and claim ur warranty. Nothing to worry. 2 of my friends already got it repaired. They changed lcd panel to something else. Both of them have Tianma display earlier
If is it a Tianma display the chances are good to be burn in.

It's a brand. Most of them are colder tinted blue. EGGB brand is something more warm maybe yellow/green.
Type *#*#6484#*#* in dialer and go to" 1. Version Information". There you will see LCD: GFF, vendor: XXXXXXXXX

Apparently my friend has tianma too. But he isn't experiencing burn in. Can he still get his display changed?
Edit: I visited the service center with him. Those guys were noobs and didn't even know what a screen burn is. I explain them what it is. I even gave them a live demonstration, which worked and gave the burn. They still insisted that it's a software problem.

This is not as 100% sure that someone will have the problema with Tianma display but only more probable. I think that your friend or anyone have to use the smartphone as usual and if the problem shows up in warranty period then go change the display. Don't care too much about it because is more probable don't have it.

Screen ghosting/ image Retention

So, I am 1 unlucky in 1000 who has a tianma lcd panel and facing screen ghosting since one month after buying the Note 7. Is there any software fix for this? I heard Redmi note 4x has similar issue. It doesn't affect performence but unpleasing to the eyes. I am not looking forward to replace the lcd as the phone us still brand new. It is imported, so there’s no way to return it. Thanks in advance.
Same thing is happening to me, sadly... Don't think there's a way to solve this through software, as it's a hardware issue
Bought Redmi Note 7S (Lavander) Onyx Black 4GB/64GB Yesterday , Faced Touch Ghosting.
Edit : Requested For Replacement * From Flipkart.

Actually, I did a little goof. Turns out I have a BOE panel instead of Tianma which is good, but even on that panel, I still get some ghosting... so I can't imagine how bad it must be for the worst panels Guess that's what you get when you cheap out on a phone

Wouldn't I need to pay for the replacement? Or if covered under warranty as it's a manufacturing issue?
So basicly even if you replace the phone under warranty, you will get the same panel and the ghost screen will be there again after some use?
you can use this tips to modify the display color a little, to minimize the ghosting effect.
I have tianma with pretty nasty retention, and modifying the display kcal does the job.
**You need use custom kernel with kernel manager or simply a LOS-based ROM to apply this mod.
I have tianma, everything just looked fine, this is only "things" , not she or he , so for me just use it
Fix for now
I thought I was the only one. Bought this device from China and started having this issue after around 4 months.
The problem does not occur with pitch black wallpaper.
I did some research and found this app (Ghost screen).
It's not in play store.

I do not face the problem anymore.
Try it. And let us know.
