I got this phone in may 2016 and during those first couple of months the phone was stellar. The greatest thing was the battery life, I could get near 6 hours of screen on time and perfect standby time. Im looking for the oldest files someone has that are on bootloader 4 so I can flash them on my S7 flat and be back to great battery. If anyone has these please link me them. I don't need any battery tips or anything just the files please!
Thank you!

The Short Version:
Stock froyo downloaded from Samsung's website- My battery would die at work at around 1600, after being unplugged at 0600. We will say it lasted about 10 hours. With minimal usage, with looking at my battery reports my screen was used for maybe 15-20min.
Post root/Midnight ROM 4.2- it is now about 1600 and I have about 90% battery life left with 22min of screen time being used with obviously minimal usage after 10 hours.
Long version:
I was getting fed up with my battery life on my beloved epic and not being able to use it at all. So I decided to do some research and figure out this rooting and ROM flashing business. I KNEW it was not because of the apps and such that sprint blames the poor battery life on because I would monitor that and not use any at all while at work just to see and prove them wrong. I have the same apps installed post root as I did pre root with the same sync settings.
So in other words it is highly depressing that they put so much crap on this phone stock to kill the battery life with not even being used.
I am so happy now, I can actually use my phone without having to worry about being dead in 2 hours.
Thanks for everyone’s help with my flashing question and thanks for this great website as a resource.
Time to try out some different ROMs!
Sounds to be like your phone might of been fighting for a signal or something, maybe a PRL update would of fixed it... I was getting well over a day with the sprint rom.. and now with ACS Rom I get a little better.. but not much..
anyways.. congrats
Good day people of XDA forums.
I’m facing a strange issue with my old Galaxy S, I was using a firmware based on 2.3.3 and recently my battery won’t stand for more than half a day around 11 hours or so from full charge with minimal Phone use !
I decided to change the firmware and rolled back to 2.2.1 and that didn’t fix anything!
Then I decided to buy a new battery which to my surprise worked fine for a day then again won’t work for more than half a day !!
I fully charge my battery and after 30 min. it’s down to 85% with the phone on standby.
Any idea ?
Why start a new battery thread when there are already numerous threads? Read those and experiment.

Hi All Respected Members,
I have Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505 since last March. The phone was working fine when I purchased it.
I exactly dont remember what was firmware installed that time but I have updated my phone to Lollipop 5.0.1 in November and all sudden my phone started creating problems.
Phone set always remain hot from camera and board as well.
Battery drains so fast.
Charging to 100% done in 4 - 5 hours.
Loads of lags during working.
These are few I am listing here. Then I have read a forum here and did everything same and downgrade to kitkat 4.4.2
Link is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/general/i9505-downgrade-5-0-lollipop-to-4-4-2-t3052472
Now, new problems.
Still set remain heatup all the time.
Battery drains so fast even on standby.
Battery lasts only for 7 hours without sim as well.
Charging time is 4 hours.
Now personally I want to sale my set as I have ruined my load of energy and all in vain. I dont want to root my set please.
Can anybody suggest me any stock rom link so I can enjoy my set again please? The most stable firmware.
I want to flash stock again please.
Below is the link to images of my cell. Please review

After I did the clean flash of 7.1.1., I was really frustrated by how bad the battery life was. It would not last longer than 2 hours SOT and would also shut itself down at 15%. At first, I thought it was a software problem so I was digging into the internet every day for the fix, but no luck.
So I was like, ok, let's replace the battery! If it doesn't work, I'll get the Pixel Phone and put the 6P out of misery. I went shopping online on Taobao (the Chinese Amazon or equivalent) and found that battery. Given the original battery was out of stock, I did not have any other choice. I bought it and it was shipped two days later.
I was hoping that the repair services here in Nanjing could help me, but every shop I went to said no as they were too afraid to leave the damage for cracking it open. I didn't give up. If they can't do it, I will do it. So I bought all the necessary tools for the replacement according to this guide https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEQbQPAU9Ss (which is really useful!).
I spent 20-25 minutes to get everything done. The glass panel and the bottom plastic were really easy to peel off with the right tools.

After the replacement, I noticed the significant improvement in the battery life. Now it will last for 4 hours SOT just like it used to!

So my conclusion is, the battery drain might be caused by the combination of the ageing battery and the new android N that helps speeding up the system's performance (I notice the animation and the speed, which is smoother and faster than the android M). So there you have it. You guys can have a try if your phone has already run out of the warranty like mine. Good luck!
I bought my G4+ almost a year and a half ago, and have since flashed lot of ROMS(Nougat and Oreo) until about a month back, when custom ROMS gave me only about 2-3 hours of SOT. I then flashed stock 7.0 and was getting around 3.5 hours of SOT, and now its back to 2.5 since a week. I now barely value performance as I only use whatsapp, reddit and a music player. I've checked the relevant threads, they seem outdated and I feel I'd get a better answer this way.
What ROM and Kernel should I use for maximizing my battery life? Is downgrading to 6.0.1 stock a viable option?
NOTE: I know my phone is old and I'll upgrade my phone in May, but I really need to find a way to stop my phone dying on me in the middle of the day.

Hello, a one year old phone isn't old unless the battery capacity isn't good anymore.
Anyway, there are lots of threads(not outdated, actual discussions ongoing) that can help you to maximize your battery life:

And also this one:

Now take some time and read possible solutions. You won't get other answers than already written in those threads
And please don't downgrade to marshmallow, you won't get better battery life, it's only minor and not worth the risks.
