I don't know which version of firmware you are on but try this:
1. Flash TWRP from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-4/orig-development/twrp-2-7-1-0-galaxy-tab-4-7-0-t2830030
2. Download SuperSU and place it on exSD or Internal storage
3.Flash the zip
I worked for me. (T-231 on E2 firmware)
How do i fin out which firm ware i have

Look at the last two characters in your Build Number for the device. (Settings -> Device -> About)
People have also reported success with Kingo Root on D9 Firmware. Try to flash your 230NU with D9 from sammobile and try Kingo Root.
No Success Yet

Looks too new to be rooted by the Kingo Root Method.
Have you tried the above steps? Should work if recovery sticks.
How do I root Sansung Galaxy 7.0 SM-T230NU Without a desktop or laptopcomouter.
Title is asking it all.
I've no access to a desktop nor a laptop computer. I wonder if rooting the device from itself is possible without "bricking "it? NOTE: I am new to rooting and this would be my first.
I had purchased this November this year. (2014).am only rooting so I came move apps or control which activate upon boot. These extraneous apps suck the battery down.
Please forgive silly questions if I inquire about definitions.
Can it work on a 4.4.2 device ?
Hi all,
It has been a few years since I rooted my last Android device and I seem to be having some difficulties in rooting my current Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005 running Android 4.4.2.
Please see attached screenshot of my phone Baseband version, build number, etc.
Are there any supported root methods for my device?
How important is the build number/baseband version when attempting to root?
I seem to be able to find root info for similar devices although quoting a different build number etc.
I attempted to use the chain fire auto root and selected the root file for the Qualcomm international and it did flashed in Odin and showed PASS but did not grant SU privileges.
Luckily my phone was fully functional after a hard reset, although I am wondering whether these methods of rooting are still working for my version of Note 3.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
For ease of reference my build number is:
KOT49H.N9005XXUENE3
Is there a possibility that it is not possible to root my SM-N9005 due to the particular build number?
Bump - ANY help at all would be greatly appreciated!
I have attempted to search around for any useful threads, although I am not having any luck.
Can anyone even suggest a method which I could investigate further, or even possibly direct me to an existing thread which may prove useful?
Thanks in advance,
Alex.
Flash latest TWRP to the N9005 through Odin. Then boot in TWRP and flash the latest cf root from chainfire.
http://download.chainfire.eu/352/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-hlte-hltexx-smn9005.zip
That's how I do it all the time and have no problems.

Looking for a root for the Cricket branded Galaxy Grand Prime (SM-G530AZ). Although all the root methods I have found pertaining to the Grand Prime say they are compatible with the SM-G530H and all it's variants, I can't get it to work. Every time I try flashing through ODIN, I get a failed message, and the phone freezes. Battery pull is the only way to reset it.
Android Version 4.4.4
Baseband Version: G530AZTUU1AOC1
Build Number: KTU84P.G530AZTUU1AOC1
I have seen one member on previous Grand Prime root threads that claims to have had success with the Cricket version. If anyone has any insight, or has had any luck, please let me know.

What is the failed message that you're getting?
Does the G530AZ variant have Custom recovery? if it has you can just flash supersu zip thru cwm or twrp. I have G530H it works for me.

UPDATE - SUCCESSFULLY ROOTED SM-G530AZ!
Please read this post carefully if you wish to root your SM-G530AZ Cricket branded Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime phone. The file linked in the original post of this thread does NOT work with this particular model number!
Note: I cannot post links yet since I have not yet hit 10 posts (this is some kind of anti-spam measure I assume) so the link to the file I mention is (please fix the URL by removing spacing; the URL has no spaces in it): http : // download1031 . mediafire . com/1gu77v6t67sg/8mn3f1ppmkxk94b/SM-G530H-4.4.4.zip
Anyway, there was no answer to my question, as I'm impatient and cannot wait longer than a day, so I took the plunge and decided to try the root flash file listed here. The "1_cfroot_sm-g530h_mohan.tar.md5" provided in this thread did NOT work. Odin reported the following:
Upon power-cycling my phone by way of battery removal and insertion I found that the device would not boot. Thankfully, prior to trying this, I had done quite a bit of searching and remembered an alternate root image for the Grand Prime G530H called "SM-G530H-4.4.4.zip". It is available at (see link in NOTE above; you can also find it by Googling it I believe). At this point I figured it could not hurt anymore to try another image so I launched the device back into Odin mode and used the CF-Auto-Root.tar file included in the ZIP file.
I stopped yelling and screaming in anger because -- it worked! After updating the firmware Odin then restarted the phone three times. During the restarts, the pane in Odin's window above the "ID:COM" pane was grey and was labeled "RESET". After the third reboot the phone launched into Android. I then went into the Applications window on the phone and found "SuperSU". The phone was indeed rooted! Shortly after I launched SuperSU, the "RESET" label in Odin turned from grey to green and changed to "PASS!". I unplugged and plugged back in my phone so that I could use the Android SDK "adb" tool in Mac OS X (I ran Odin 3 from a Windows 7 virtual machine in VMWare Fusion) and launch a shell on the phone. To confirm all was well with my root access I typed "su" in the shell, confirmed authorization for the process when SuperSU prompted me, and there I was -- root!
And, for completeness, here is the Odin v3 output of my successful flash using CF-Auto-Root.tar located in SM-G530H-4.4.4.zip:
In summary:
The particular SM-G530H root firmware file linked by the OP in this thread will NOT work with a Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime SM-G530AZ model phone ("Cricket" wireless company branded). Instead, use the CF-Auto-Root.tar located in the SM-G530H-4.4.4.zip located at (see link in NOTE at top of this post).
Anyway, thank you for the post OP, and to whomever created both the firmware images (even though the first one failed on me!) for all the hard work you put in. You are the lifeblood of this community!

I went to the CRICKET store yesterday, theygave me a new SIM card but it still won't work. Currently, my phone say it's downloading and don't turn off target. It been like this for some hours. It's really frustrating, it wouldn't happen if I didn't click on software update. Can anyone help me or doIneed a new phone?

You're good. Just sounds like you are stuck in download mode. Try pulling your battery out. If that doesn't work, do a battery pull, and instead of powering up normally, press Volume Up, Home, and Power at the same time. This should allow you to do a factory reset.
If that still doesn't work, you're looking at flashing stock firmware through Odin. Very simple if you can follow instructions. There are many guides on this site that walk you through using Odin.

SM-G530AZ fix
I had the same problem with galaxy sm-g530az.
Put the phone into recovery mode.
Connect the phone to computer usb
Update phone with adb at the same time as you open Samsung kies.
If both are done at the same time Samsung kies will get a huge update. After it is done you should have Samsung kies lite. Use the firmware upgrade and initialisation process. It might still tell you it can't recognize the phone the first time or two. Just keep trying a couple times it will recognize the phone and complete the process.
Good luck

Would Kingroot work?

I have Samsung galaxy A5, SM-A500H. Running Android 5.0.2, downloaded from here. I want to root it.
The only root available right now AFAIK, is CF-Auto-Root, as described here for example. But this root breaks everything, all the apps stop running when you reboot the phone and you have reinstall the firmware, it doesn't work.
Is there another way to root my device?

didn't work before, now is working, download the apk, root it, takes 5 min, restart your phone, have a nice day
Hi,
I hope, I put this into the right forum.
My phone is a S5 LTE Plus (G901F) with the newest original stock firmware from my provider (T-Mobile) installed. Here are the versions:
Android:
5.0.2
Basisband:
G901FXXU1BOE1
Build:
LRX22G.G901FXXU1BPA2
I would like to root it for being able to remove all the apps, that my provider pre-installed in its firmware. And also to get root access. I've already informed me about CF-Auto-Root. It sounds like it should be easy and it would work good. I have some questions due to that:
Can I root my smartphone with the versions I mentioned above? On the CF Auto Root Website it is shown, that Auto Root is based on the Build LRX22G.G901FXXU1BOK2. That seems to be a newer one, that I've installed on my phone at the moment. Could that be a reason for get problems when rooting it? Can i root it on this way?
Or should I use another solution for rooting? If yes, which one?
Does CF-Auto-Root performs a factory reset when running?
Thanks for your replies in advance.
Greetz
older version of cf autoroot
CF-Auto-Root-kccat6-kccat6xx-smg901f.tar but the one on cf autoroot site works too

Thanks for your answer. Will the Phone be wiped while rooting?
