Is PPI dependence on CPU

hey guy, i have a strange question but i bet with some guy that more PPI dependence by CPU strength and screen resolution, or not(??).
what i said that's more power of CPU, then more PPI u can get.(ofcourse the bet is about the Adreno 300)
can you explain me about that more if im right or not? :cyclops:
PPI is about the screen, how the screen is manufactured. Dimensions in pixels is dependent of processing power,CPU if software rasterizing, CPU+GPU if hardware rasterizer.
So a phone with 1080p and 300ppi performs the same as a phone with 1080p and 1000ppi
i think that its not ppi, but resolution is the blood sucker. more resolution, more details, more computing power. which demands greater cpu and gpu powers. and let me clear, large screen size does not necessarily mean greater resolutions. compare s4/z/one with some other devices like grand/mega etc.
also if a device have good resolution and better screen it should use more ppi, which in turn supports ur argument.

PPI stands for pixels-per-inch. Pixels per inch is not the number of pixels; it's how crammed they are together. Resolution is the number of pixels. For example, even though the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 have the same resolution screen (ignore the fact that the S3's is pentile), the Galaxy S3 has a higher PPI because it has the pixels crammed into a smaller screen size (4.7 inch vs 5.5 inch). If the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 had the same processor, RAM, etc, and only the screen size was different, they would perform identically. They both have the same amount of pixels, but the Galaxy S3 screen looks sharper because the screen is smaller.
What strains the processor is a higher resolution, not directly a high PPI. It's the same thing with a computer; if I run Crysis at 640 x 480 (the lowest possible resolution), I'll probably get an amazing frame rate (smoothness) even though the picture will look like crap. Why? The processor and graphics card have to process less pixels to display on the screen. Now, if I ran the game at 1080p, the frame rate would suffer dramatically, but the picture quality would look amazing. The processor and graphics card now have a LOT more to display on the screen. That's the gist of it.
got it thanks for all replays!

improving the color saturation

I was just tinkering with my old S2 and I was wondering why the G3 doesn't have different color profiles like the S2 does. "dynamic", for instance, increases the already quite vibrant oled colors.
my laptop doesn't have an extraordinary screen but nvidia's digital vibrance make up for it quite nicely.
So, is there any way we can digitally enhance color saturation on the G3 on a rooted, stock rom? I don't mind the colors becoming inaccurate, I'm just a color nut (the only reason I'm not switching to a note 4 is the price).
Note, I am aware of the color tweaking you can do in the ease of access panel, but that only gives a small contrast boost before it starts to change the hues completely.
It doesn't have the Samsung tweaks because it's not a Samsung device.
The only colour Adjustment I know of is the one in Accessibility. Haven't heard of any others
Go to Settings > Accessibility > Color Adjustments, and set it just above the camera icon
Check out the screenshot
and put it exactly there
and BOOM... colors are more vibrant and more contrast to the display in general
Oh and BTW the reason is that the G3's display is an IPS panel while the S2 ( and most Samsung's phones) is an AMOLED display..which is by it's nature has more vibrant colors(more than I like) and deeper blacks than IPS displays

-------
Can't wait for the Note 8 "Great" (a.k.a. 옹호) to show up and show off its display along with other expected innovations!
Great to get a better perspective on the changes made, undoubtedly the best screen to grace a smartphone.
Very much looking forward to shipment day......?

Even though I'm looking very much at the GS8+ because of availability, the article doesn't even compare to other competitors especially being the Xperia XZ Premium. The XZ Premium is literally built with a 4K HDR screen and it's one of the most well renowned top flagship features. For DisplayMate to not even mention it kind of discredits what it grades any way if it does not compare other flagships.

They are comparing it to their previous model, that's what most people care about as Samsung panels have been the best for quite some time. It's to show improvements over the last gen screens. You can always compare the review score between different devices yourself. The S8 is the highest rated mobile screen they have tested. Sony and LG etc are not really competitors, they don't sell enough phones. Apple is Samsung's major competition as they are both on top, by a huge margin. Most are losing money not making it. So they are doing the review for the largest number of potential consumers.
4k screens on a phone are very good for one thing, VR. Outside of that there isn't much difference at all, other than loss of performance and battery life. I would appreciate the higher res as an option myself though because I enjoy VR.
4k is wasted on smaller sized TV's even, unless you're sitting a few inches away from it. It's best for 50 inch and above screens. Over 60 is preferable if sitting a reasonable distance away.
If another phone takes top spot this year then they will probably compare that to the Samsung...

Your thoughts on the new Razer smartphone with 120 fps LCD 1440p display for VR use

Hey everyone
There is a new phone called Razer which claims 120hz refresh rate on its LCD display released a month ago now. This feels like an exciting new phone to get as a VR fan. I am assuming being LCD, it has an RGB type matrix with 3 sub-pixels making this the most superior display for reducing SDE (Side Door Effect) than any other display including Rift/Vive/PSVR apart from Xperia Z5 and XZ Premium phones (4k RGB displays) and some LG phones with 1440p LCD displays.
So potentially, google cardboard VR games and apps could be more immersive than on any other phone because of the combination of very high refresh rate for smooth motion and reducing motion blur/sickness and high sub-pixel density for reducing SDE. That excites me. I already enjoy google VR apps with hardly any SDE on my Sony Xperia Z5 Premium 4k RGb display phone but there is noticeable motion blur when turning my head quickly. I also have a PSVR that 1080p RGB OLED display with higher sub pixel density than GearVR/Rift/Vive, but what makes PSVR smash mobile VR out of the park is the 120hz refresh rate on its display. I play all sorts of fast action games in it and never suffer motion sickness...its incredible.
So for Razer phone to have 120hz refresh rate is bloody exciting and could take us one step closer to that of the PSVR 120hz or Vive/Occulus 90hz experiences. Of course what would still be lacking is room space position tracking unless you use the Trinus VR with PC and cameras to play Steam VR games which is a tricky thing to fully achieve.
But reality check. Apps and games have to be specifically developed to support 120hz. Most games and apps today are coded to max at 60fps. But that's still cool. Even if apps lock at 60hz, which most OLED phones and Samsung phones with Gear VR achieves, the Razor will still have a better motion and display experience due to the higher sub-pixel density than OLED phones. At least in theory.
So, if any of you have bought the Razer, do please let us know your thoughts and if you have have tested VR games and apps on it. Do current VR games/apps look and play better with this phone? Or is it a crushing disappointment for VR?
Also interesting in hearing about the experience from anybody that has bought one.

Does any ROM have display mode settings like Lineage's "Dynamic" or "Natural?"

Does any ROM have display mode settings like Lineage's "Dynamic" or "Natural?"
The Axon version of Lineage is conspicuously missing this much needed feature. Even ZTE's crappy stock ROM has a "Gorgeous" setting that livens things up.
Out of the box, the Axon's display looks low color gamut, with anemic colors, worse than most IPS panel.
I'm not looking for accuracy (we all know that the Axon's screen isn't accurate anyway) but deeper colors like an AMOLED display is supposed to have. The Galaxy S panels pop a lot more yet score much, much lower delta values than the Axon, which looks drab AND is inaccurate. At least give me POP if not accuracy.
