Hello folks. I have recently returned to using an XT907 after I lost my original whilst doing a kegstand at the beach on the fourth of july . Anyway, I have been perusing the piles of recent threads and am having trouble finding whether anybody has been keeping an up-to-date (4.1.2) rom which is perfectly stock, except deodexed, and perhaps debloated. If anybody could just point me in the direction of a thread with that information I would be grateful. I like this style rom because I like to make my own minimal design tweaks, but most importantly it seems to give me the best battery life and long term stability. If you have a seperate custom Rom that has been exceptional in both of these catagories and you care to share, that would be appreciated as well.
I am also interested in what kernel people are using with their custom roms, and how that has affected their battery life. I was able to get at least 24+- hours with solid use roughly 1yr ago which a custom setup like I've described and a custom PB&J kernel. With stock everything now, I'm lucky if I get 12 hours.
If I missed a recent thread containing any of the information that I've just discussed, I apologize but I didn't see any. Any input would be appreciated, thanks!
if you want a good battery life, I suggest you use the CM stable rom for xt907, 4.2.2 andriod OS.
you can use dsixda's Android Kitchen to deodex the stock Rom your self if you cant find a rom you like.

you can then debloat using this safe list

Personally I'm on CM KK nightlights and have no desire to go back to a JB rom. Fast, smooth and battery life is great. I'm using CM kernel that comes built into the rom but I know a lot of people use arrrghhh's

Which one shouldI choose with this ROM?
Hi, I was wondering if I should choose the Kitkat 4.4.4 AOSP kernel or the GPE kernel with this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2557353
Thanks in advance for answering!
Anyone?!
Does anyone know this?
It doesn't matter anymore
It doesn't matter anymore, I found out which one. You need the Google play edition 4.4.4 and not the AOSP 4.4.4
In the end it was actually not that difficult, so I'm sorry for posting this "not that smart" question without reading a lot.
Random Reboot
Hi, i have installed this kernel using the setting in your script V6.
I have random reboot.
I use it on galxy s4 with google edition rom.
I hope you can help me, sorry for my english and i hope that what i have written is correct.
Thank you
Hi at all. I'm searching a post on XDA (I can't find it for now) where are explained all governor's parameters like block_cycles_offline_screen_on or boost_hold_cycles and ALL others.

Hay. I'm using MultiROM since a few weeks. I used the Alucard Kernel until now because you need the Kexec Hardboot patch to use it. Would it be possible to add this Patch to the Kernel? I love your Kernel but I also love MultiROM. It would be great if we could combine both
Guys first time using the kernel, I loaded "Smooth Criminal"" profile, so far so good, anyways, my question is about the Fast charge, is it safe to draw 1900mA (that is what the lecture says) from a USB port?? my rig is a gaming one and another thing is that is set to Fast Charge = Enable, USB Port = 425mA and AC = 1600mA, I assume those Custom values are override because is set to ""Enable"" instead of ""Custom"", just wondering if its safe.. :/ How would I know.
need help regarding battery life
first of all thanks a lot for the kernel.im quite new to android and had a battery draining issue from the beginning and i changed my kernel in to this but no significant improvement of the battery life.other than that my phone is very smooth n no any other issue.im wondering why the battery drain so fast and its not last even a day with a full charge.screen on normally 2 hours per day.this is my first kernel installation and i did it accordingly other than fixing permission because there was no such option in the recover mode.it would be so nice if some one kindly guide me to resolve the problem because im sure there is something wrong in my device but not the kernel. these are some information about my device
model number gt-i9505
android 4.4.2
baseband version i9505xxufnc4
kernel 3.4.98 KT-SG_kk4.4 07.12.2014
i am using ktoonsified v6 profile in ktweaker and i have tried manual settings as well
i have attached a screen shot of my battery usage. display is on around 20mns
thanks in advance
Thank you for this kernel!
Hello,
Exactly the same problem for me, GSM and WiFi does not work with this kernel (KT-SGS4-KK4.4-AOSP-INTL-12.7.2014) on a "Snapshot CM11-M12 in Galaxy S4 Intl"
Sorry for my bad English
Hi all !
Hello guys.I have a I9505 for a month now and so far i've enjoyed playing with rooting/modding and so on.I've flashed CM11 at first but I replaced it with some modded Echoe Rom Touchwizz 4.4.2 ROM,Today I flashed this kernel and i'm so pleased with it.Lots of cutomizable options,OC capable and so on.My issue with my device it's that it gets hot very fast(after 10-15min of gaming) and after that it starts to throtlle .I've used like 3 different kernels so far including the stock one and the problem persists. With this one I managed to OC the cpu to 2106MHZ stable and the GPU to 545MHZ also stable. When I enter Asphalt8 for the first 5-7 minutes the performance it's just flawless compared to non-OC settings. The problem is after those couple of minutes it begins to throtlle as it does and I find myself running at 1.2GHZ or so CPU freq and 128MHZ GPU wich mages the game unplayable.I also set the throttle limit way upper to 85-90 degrees or so...still nothing seems to be stopping the throtlling on my device. If anyone has some tips or so please do help me.I really wanna enjoy this kernel xD ! :-bd
CM12 with this kernel -> experiences?
I just switched from stock Samsung 4.2.2 to AntaresOne's Unoffical CM12 rom on my S4 i9505.
I'm having the Miscellaneous battery drain issue (even though I still have better battery performance than with the stock Samsung rom), and have been thinking of installing this kernel.
However, on the xda forums a lot of ppl seem to be of the opinion that switching kernel will result only in minimal to unnoticeable improvement in terms of power consumption (taking into account just the kernel, not things as Greenifying, freezing and such which are kernel independent).
Can any of you give some feedback whether they have been getting noticeably better battery life with this kernel in similar circumstances (CM12, Miscellaneous drain) with ktoonservativeq or conservative governors?
Also, are there any other significant advantages to this kernel than power/cpu management over the AntaresOne CM12 kernel?
Hi
How I can find the S4 Touchwiz 4.4.4 Kernel Source?
Permission to use your kernel
I am requesting permission to include your kernel in a ROM that I am building.
Hi!
I've used the TwZ Kernel 4.4.2 on my 9505, Stock 4.4.2 ZTO (Brasil) rom, Rooted (of course) and have a issue:
When flashed and reboots, it stuck on "Samsung GT9505.." Logo. The sounds it makes is the same from a custom booting, but still stucked 4ver.
Flashed via CWM 6.0.4.7
I also Wiped Cache/Dalvik, but didnt Fix permissions (CWM 6.0.4.7 dont have this option anymore)
Please, if I've did something wrong or not.
Also, i've already have everything back to normal after flashing a Rom backup
Sorry for most worst english.
I need help, what rom work great with this version of kernel AOSP KITKAT 4.4 VERSION ?
ktoonsez awsome
ktoonsez, sweet kernel as always
only issue I've got is it doesn't work with the induction charging pads, I've got a genuine Samsung one.
I know this is fairly low on your radar and priorities list but if you could update this thread when you get to it, that would be great
Cheers
induction charge
I think i posted in the wrong thread before, your kernels are the bomb, im using the last 5.0 release on cm12 optimised release and its fast no random reboot. Very fast, and i know mr kstoonzes youre working on bigger things but when you get around to it please have a look at the induction charging, few reports saying its borked. Other 5.0 kernels fine. Keep up the awsomest work and happy xhristman
Kernel suport 5.0
I'm kinda lost here. I'm looking to buy a D800, but wanted to know if root and leave the phone free to install aosp roms like CM11 will be possible and not complicated as hell. Wich are the steps I should follow to root / unlock, install twrp, and backup the original rom? (To later install CM11)...
Please any advice, links, etc will be greatly appreciated. Cheers!
The phone itself is good but the stock software is annoying. There are stable aosp roms available, but they have all very bad Cameras and inferior battery life. So basically most people would be forced to use the crappy lg stock rom anyway. Rooting is very easy as well as recovery
Oh that's bad news... had the idea to flash it with CM11 (while 12 is under development), or G3 roms, some people had told me this phone were good with AOSP roms... It's only the camera that does not work as intended on aosp roms? No fix for battery?

I have D800 and it really isn't as bad as people make it out to be. I can get 12 hours of usage on CM11 with 4-5 hours of screen time. Stock Rom is fine but then again I use the T-Mobile stock Rom on mine when I'm stock or CloudyG3 Rom. Right now I'm using Flyme OS Rom and I started this morning at 45% and was at 7% after 12 hours of work and had 4 hours of screen time.

Yes I'm about to purchase a d800, if it is good with CM11, then its good for me. Maybe later it will have lollipop roms and that will be another era... Thanks for the answers! Cheers.
Hey FedericoUY, I received my phone about a month ago and I'll go through my journey from all of the likely problems and what's required for unlocking, rooting, installing a rom for the first time on this device. I'll describe the benefits/disadvantages from the different rom distributors recommended for this device. Until a few days ago I would have agreed AOSP was better left avoided on this device, and why CM11 is still not recommended for the G2.
When I received my G2, while I had the intention to flash it. I was gravely disappointed with it, because of the shocking software and default setup. But it's become my favourite phone since. I too thought CM11 would do it for me, it really didn't on this phone. And the display & specs make it seem extremely outdated, not to mention none of the phone-specific features really worked.
(In order of events)
Sim Locking for AT&T (do first)
By default it's locked, as I imported it through the US and without an account for them I had to purchase a 3rd party unlock code for $2. Strangely I had to keep it unlocked on the stock firmware for a certain amount of time (tried a day) before it remembered the unlocking when flashing a custom firmware.
Rooting (do secondly)
The only method which worked on the latest G2 stock rom was to use "Stump Root" in the "Brute force" mode as the latest rom version didn't have a pre-configured rooting routing.
Installing a custom recovery (do third)
The only method which worked on the latest G2 stock rom was an app called "D800_AutoRec.apk" which just installed the latest TWRP recovery, from there I could flash anything.
Which roms are decent for the D800?
While personally I've stayed with more AOSP roms like CM and AOKP, the best rom & kernel to use in terms of performance/battery life and phone specific features is not the stock G2 software nor AOSP. I'll explain further why.
For the kernel, the arguably most matured and feature rich, battery friendly and performance suited kernel is the Dorimanx kernel. Which is unfortunately only compatible with stock G2 & G3 roms.
With this in consideration and all of the improvements in the G3 firmware, fully supporting this phone's features, makes the G3 roms peoples choice, in particular CloudyG3 targeted for the G2.
When it comes to AOSP like roms, there is two okay kernels which are compatible with CM and the other is only compatible with AOSP roms, with a few exceptions. Both of these kernels have poor battery life in comparison and produce a lot of heat, not to mention lesser abilities in terms of tweaking (overclocking, underclocking rate, faster charge, etc). It generally only gets worse from here using rom released kernels. It's fairly uncommon for features such as double tapping wake to work, and the lack of on-screen keyboard usability improvements.
However, Lollipop has turned things around. While not flossing as much battery life savings as CloudyG3 with the Dorimanx kernel, performance, design/look (can change Google keyboard to old theme) has brilliantly increased. It's been the only close to stock rom I've ever been largely happy with. Despite not having any real CM features and a few bugs at this moment in time.
Therefore, if you like the ability to tweak and charge faster and overclock a lot with great battery life I suggest CloudyG3 and Dorimanx. If you want an AOSP rom, I'd use Lollipop. If you want a full featured stock rom with a nice kernel, I'd wait awhile and opt for CloudyG3 until lollipop roms mature. For a battery comparison, the stock G3 rom with a custom kernel lasted me 5-7 days without charging, with CM11 I can only get about 1 day if I'm lucky.
It's month now when SGS6E+ is out in the wild and we don't have many devs in the comunity so far... I greately appreciate the only custom kernel we have, but what about just rooting, and keeping stock at the same time? Pure stock and root.
I still can't find any solution for such a basic need: a stock rooted kernel. You can say: hey there is one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/s6-edge-plus/development/auto-rooting-stock-kernels-s6-edge-plus-t3194607/
..but when I went thru the comments... so many issues... Why?
Truely speaking, i tried to compile my own kernel, but... I'm a noob and only achieved to set up the environment: ubuntu... all the needed packages... but then I noticed there were no newest sources for G928F on samsung site....G928FXXU1AOH4. Even if they were available, I would rather fail building it
Any ideas?
I saw there is a kernel which seems to be amazing for my device (A500FU), but I have never done such thing as installing/flashing a new Kernel on any android device. I have flashed roms, but never on this phone.
My questions are:
Can I go back to original untouched state of my phone if I regret installing this kernel?
Is battery life better with this Kernel?
What is NOT working correctly?
Thanks in advance.
