Tiny 5.5" screen vs 6.2" inch screen...absolutely worth it.
I cant wait to get rid of this s7 edge honestly for that reason.
it will be my new work phone where screensize isnt important.

Depends on how much the screen is worth to you. I'd imagine the performance, battery life, and camera will be about the same as the S7.

Well more screen size but less battery on the S8+, think it uses the same 3500 as the Samsung Fire 7

For most uses, the S8+ won't have a significantly larger (usable) screen area. It looks to be much the same as the S7 Edge screen, just with a bit added on the end for the on-screen keys, in place of the physical ones that have been removed. The size of the screen you can actually use will be similar to on the S7 Edge. Of course it will be much bigger in apps where the on screen keys are hidden (including, presumably, wider-than-16:9 video, and certainly for the Gear VR).

The screen much smaller than a typical 5.5 inch screen due to the edge design. When i put it up against other flat 5.5 inch devices even more noticable.
And a regular 5.5 inch screen is too small to begin with for my tastes
So for me yeah, tiny.

That would be true for the s8 but i dont believe so for the plus.
Wont know for sure until its in hand and side by side with my s7 edge of course.
Without reading any of this i say NO. Any money the S8 will have worse battery life. I'd be VERY surprised if it does better than the S7. Same camera... Stupid fingerprint sensor placement. It's a "notch" faster. The ONLY reason I'd be tempted it's that GORGEOUS bezel free screen. But that's it! The S7 screen still uses the same screen technology and is just as sexy.

You're right that we'd need to look at the real thing, but just for fun, using Pythagoras' Theorem (we know the S7 Edge is 5.5" with a ratio of 16:9, and the S8+ is 6.2" with a ratio of 18.5:9) gives the following sizes:
S7 edge screen: 122 x 68.5mm
S8+ screen: 142 x 68.9mm
How much room does the soft keys area use on a phone of that size? I'd say probably over 15mm, which brings the usable size fairly close to the S7 Edge.
I'm sure things don't work out exactly at those sizes, especially with the curved edges, but it's enough to make me doubt that the S8+ will be as big a gain as people are expecting. I'm looking forward to seeing one for real, though
nope will wait for note 8
I went from a Nexus6 to a S7 edge so the screen size was really apparent. Had to pull out the tablet again for some things.
I love the hardware of the S8+ but will wait for a new Note before I decide.
I don't feel enough has changed for me to get the S8 or the S8+. I'm disappointed that the FPS isn't underneath the glass, the batteries aren't bigger, and the microSD didn't get updated to the new UFS one announced last year.

The S8 has a sexy design, new soc but thats all about it...the camera is about the same as the S7 so thats not good, fingerprint positioning is terrible, and the price is way to high...Im honestly waiting for the Xiaomi MI6 but im also curious about the OnePlus4...lets wait and see..

Nah its already been confirmed that they will perform pretty much the same...i wouldnt even be surprised if it performs even worse...they already did something like that with the s7 which is worse then the s6 with sony sensor on good light conditions althought the s7 beats the s6 on low light...
Or how about waiting for the Note 8
3500 mAh battery for 6.2 inch screen might not be enough.
I dont know when samsung will move to stereo speaker .

so i think the Edge 6 plus in gold just look phenomenal but there's something in me that says the S pen on the note 5 is more practical then the edge ticker. i went in the VZW store yesterday and i couldnt get the edge info ticker or other options to work right, but im attributing that to the VZW demo that kept popping up on the screen. I know the edge screen doesnt do much, but does it work like it's supposed do?
i know the phones are almost identical besides pen and edge....
any other reasons i should pick the 6+ over the note 5?

no trying to decide
Samsung S6 Edge+ Plus is faster in benchmark
Gold colour is the best
screen looks more beautiful, curved edge on both sides. 3D effect
better battery life
edge s6+ is more lighter. not heavy for its size.
are you going to use the S pen for 1 or 2 weeks then never use it again?
.
Just swithched from N5. Love the looks, form factor and the screen is more accurate.

If you want the Stylus and its features go Note 5. If you want the sexiest design in market go Edge+. The Edge+ is slightly faster on benches and has slightly better battery life due to the lack of all the stylus features that run in the background. Do not expect features for the edges they are there for sexiness and design and I love them. Swiping from the edges feels really good on them. The Edge+ in Gold is really dope and eyecatcher all my friends ask me immediately what's this phone and want to touch it. Also the Edge+ feels more compact on hand and despite its screen size it's really small. If it feels slippery on your hand and the Edges are hard for you to grip on I will suggest you to use a transparent TPU case which will not hide the sexiness of the phone and will help a lot the grip. Despite their design differences and the stylus internally those 2 are exactly the same.
I bought the edge 6+ because I couldn't find a 64gb Note 5. I looked at both, the edge is sexier.... At a price. It's an uncomfortable phone to hold, this after two months of it. It's so beautiful that you want to hold it all the time though. Also, the edges catch light differently, and the keyboard is not so accurate to use.
Practically, if I had had the Note 5 in 64gb in front of me I'd have chosen that.
32gb on either, despite what people say, is too little.
I wasn't sure where to exactly most this so I decided to post it on here. So I was wondering which should I get. I'm torn between the s7 and the S7 edge. I have the s7 currently and they said I could return in free of charge if I didn't like it. So should I get the s7 edge?
I would.
Any reasoning behind it?

Why did you choose the regular s7 in first place instead of the edge and what of the additonal benefits of the edge are useful for you?
Personally, I can't live with a screen under 5.5" these days. The edges are also cool. It was my brief time with the Blackberry Priv that made me fully appreciate the way a tapered screen makes the experience much more interesting.

If You like and need better battery and biger screen go for it. Edge is the last thing except visuals ?
i just made the same switch as your talking about. i was on the regular s6 and made the jump to the s7 edge and i love it so far. i love LOVE the battery life as ive been on a single charge starting from 4 am this morning and its 10 20 now and i still have 24 % left . my s6 wouldve been dead by now . the only thing so far that ive noticed myself doing is actually not using the edges as theyre intended and from what i can gather is simply because im not used to having them. i love the phone and im sure you wont be disappointed! good luck in your choice!

I like some of the functionality of the edge. The only problem I've had with the edge is I use SwiftKey as my keyboard and I set it up with the number line on top of the keyboard. Sometimes, it's difficult to press the number 1 because it's right on the edge. I think I can shrink the keys a little in SwiftKey so it'll fit better, but I haven't tried it yet.

I tested S7 edge at the Samsung experience booths, the camera is marginally better on S7 vs S6 in regular lighting, under low light scenarios, it takes brighter images with less noise. The aspect ratio is 4:3 though so you'll get vertical black bars on the screen when you review the pics you took since most screens including the phone are 16:9

I've had the s4, note 3, note 4,note 5,and now s7 edge, the edges are cool, but super annoying when typing with 1 hand, because I have a tendency to hit letters on the edge of screen when typing. So far, I believe the note 5 was a better phone, but then again I was in love with the pen features.

My last 3 devices have been edge variants, note edge, s6e+, and s7e. I absolutely loved the functionality of my note edge but had them totally disabled on s6e+ cause they kinda sucked. Now with s7e I'm using the edge panels again, Samsung has definitely improved the stock panels and some development on new panels are ok. They still have a long way to go but there's enough function now for me to use them. Plus the edge is a sexy beast looks wise.
I am up for refresh and my options are S7 or S7 edge. I get my phone through the company I work for, and unfortunately the new note is not on the table.
I guess I am looking to hear from folks who have been using the edge. Is it better?
I get that the battery is a bit better which is great, but I am on the fence about the edge screen. Is it useful? Do you like it for it's aesthetics, or is it just annoying?
I know that the edge screen makes the phone a bit more vulnerable, which is an entirely different concern. Just looking to get 2-4 cents from people who have the phone before I buy. Thx!!

Personaly I went for the edge mostly for the bigger battery.. but I guess the design aswell.
Yes the curved screen is pretty annoying due to accidental touches, but there's an easy fix to that.. put a case on!

I got the edge one mainly because of the bigger battery and because of design-perception.
I am totally satisfied with this device although i dont use the edge this much.
But i think it depends on your usage.
I also got an Edge.
Waste of the extra money! The frequent accidental edge touches and subsequent random app behavior and wild scrolling are annoying and the edge apps are of negligible value to me. I will buy a non-Edge device next time again, for sure.
Appreciate the replies. That's my concern Jaiy. I am tempted to hang onto my s5 until the next thing comes out. Looks like the note 7 edge is implemented a little better.

I got the edge because it has bigger display and battery. And it just looks dope.
The bigger display was the reason for me. Even a very thin case will solve the accidental touch problem. As for edge functions, I do use the edge App panel all the time, and occasionally others. And I've found the edge clock handy when in hotel rooms.
I don't find the curved screen annoying in any way.
Edge. Fantastic device.
I couldn't care less about the edge functionality, but I do care about the much bigger screen on the edge version. I guess the curved edges allow them to make the phone as small as it can be with a 5.5" screen.
go with the screen size u prefer. the edge features really don't have a benefit. the s7 is a much smaller compact phone than the s7 edge. i have used both of them an i prefer the edge. not because of the edge but because of the bigger screen.
Personally, I would go for the regular S7. Cheaper, easier to handle with one hand, getting a screen protector is easier, and less attractive, less likely for anyone to steal it.
I am in the minority here, I'm well aware of that.
I went with the edge. Arriving Friday. Here's hoping it delivers.
Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
For random touches there is an app called "Random touch blocker" I think. So that fixes those. And Edge version is a lot better. Battery life is really important for me. And Edge gives me a huge battery life compared to my old S6. Even though S7 has a huge battery You can still charge it really quickly. Just turn on ultra power saving mode, airplane mode, use amplify, lower cpu and gpu speeds and lock Your display. At lowest values the phone will lag a little but for a 15 minute charge You'll get like 50-70%. (With a fast charger).
Screen size in this case is also pretty sweet. 5'5 is not a tiny display, it makes playing games, watching videos, reading documents a lot easier. And it's not too big either. I can safely type on my keyboard using just one thumb. So it's perfect for me in this case.
The other reasons why You would want a S7 Edge are: design. It simply looks amazing. I've never seen a phone that looked so pretty. When You look at it from any angle You'll be admiring it a lot. Most people enjoy bezeless displays. Because they really will give You that amazing 3D/Bend"y" feeling.
I got the edge for the bigger battery and screen size. Using a case gets rid of the accidental touch issues (i am using a spigen hybrid case).
I am still deciding on which one to buy s8 or s8 plus.

If you have never use a Nexus 6P or something similar in size, you will find it huge !
I personally own a 6P and can't go under 5.7'' . S8+ screen is welcomed !
I own a S7 edge and I'll pre-order the S8. It's almost the same size as the S7e, so if you think it's perfect you should buy the 5.8 inches Galaxy S8
fyi S8+ has slightly better and bigger battery

Upgrading from the Nexus6p to the S8+ ftw...
S8+ because of the bigger battery and screen
From S7E to S8+ !
Apparently, the S8+ is more or less the same size that Iphone 7 plus...
I'm getting the 8+ purely for the larger battery, but based on the dimensions, I don't think size will be too much of a problem, compared to other phablet phones out there. The only awkwardness may come from the taller display - definitely not the width.
Can anyone find a size comparison or video review between the S8/S8+ with the nexus 6p?
I preordered the S8+ and after playing with it in store, I cancelled my preorder and got the normal S8. I hate the size of the iPhone 7 Plus and the S8+ is just a little more narrow, but still girthy to me. Granted I don't have massive hands and could probably live with the S8+, but the S8 just felt so comfortable. I have a G6 and a Pixel currently and I highly recommend the normal S8 if you're used to a smaller device.
I went to Best buy yesterday and held both, the s8+ didn't feel so big that it was unweildly, but nonetheless it was still a big phone, the s8 felt pretty perfect especially if you like the size of the s7e, but I cancelled my preorder for the s8+ and will wait to see battery life reviews, I'm hoping s8 will be on par with s8+
I also went and looked at both today, and purchased regular s8. s8+ was too tall.
I am now going to bestbuy as well. Will see how each model feels and then will pre-order .
Anything you want me to check guys??

go to phonearena.com and check out their size comparison feature....you can calibrate your screen based on your current phone and it will give you the option to generate an overlap or side by side comparison. This is the best way to figure out if you like the size as this is going to be the actual size of the phone and not just an eyeballed guess

There is no difference between two except size and battery. Battery wise you won't see much difference because of the screen size. So if you want bigger phone go with S8+ else you know what to get.
Personal, I got S8 for myself. Should be easy to carry in pocket as well.

S8 is a hair shorter and a little narrower than the S7 edge.
http://www.phonearena.com/phones/si...y-S7-edge,Samsung-Galaxy-S8/phones/9818,10311
S8+ is just a little taller and a hair wider than the S7 edge.
http://www.phonearena.com/phones/si...y-S7-edge,Samsung-Galaxy-S8/phones/9818,10312
Because the only differences between the S8 and S8+ are the screen and battery sizes (5.8," 3000mAh vs 6.2," 3500mAh) it comes down to personal preference. Like other people have said, the S8 is slightly shorter and narrower than the S7 Edge, while the S8+ is slightly narrower and taller than the S7 Edge, so either version should be find.
Personally, if you have smaller hands (like I do) and/or already struggling with the size of the S7 Edge, then go with the S8. If possible, go to a Best Buy and check out both versions there in their Samsung section. Feeling them in hand will prove to be MUCH more helpful, than anyone's 2 cents on the matter. That's what helped me figure out what color and version of the S8 I wanted to pre-order.
Just saying, even with smaller hands, I didn't have much issue with the larger variant. Heck, took me literally an hour to actually do the pre-order because I had trouble making up mind on which size, haha. XD That, and if you do have a Best Buy near you, do the pre-order there as you can save $50 on the S8, $100 on the S8+. Unless you plan on buying it outright, because you won't get the discount, at least that's what I can tell on their site.
