Hi,
The title say it all, I managed to make my System partition size 5.5gb (i know aloot but future proof) but my data partition is now 47gb ( Still more than enough for me ) , however i wanted to know how many people are interested before i make this guide since it require alllllllloooot of time and much details must be provided (if bricked and so on) so before doing this guide i want to know if its worth it ,otherwise thanks for your time
Feel free to make the guide, it can only do good. However, I'm sure that not many people are willing to try it because many OPO owners will soon upgrade anyways.

If you've time then make a guide and if you're too busy with other stuff then relax
Yes please!
I would be interested in seeing system partition as low as it can get with nano gapps and lineage os.
Post it in your free time, will be very appreciated!

It's a great idea. And it's not fake. I saw it a while back on the italian language OnePlus forums.
But using the Google translate it was risky as hell..
Someone said ppl are upgrading, might be, but it's a pretty capable device in my view.
I'm in!!
Edit:
The guide in Italian..
do it!

Would love to try it out since I'm rooting my beloved Oneplus One after waiting 1 year
Thanks in advance
Do it... please
I'm trying desperately to increase the partition of my Huawei Mediapad X2 (I know, it's not a OnePlus One). But everywhere I search, all I get is ambiguous and/or model specific instructions. Hopefully you can write a guide that is model independent, so that it could be applied to any Android phone.
Thanks, buddy!

Hi everyone!!
Well, this is not my first time flashing an android ROM on my HD2, but... this is my first time with Clockwork!
And, I'm lost...
I want this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=902013
And I really don't know how this work, 'cause even if I check the forum about clockwork mod ( yep, I'm french! ), I don't get it...
So, does anyone can make a step by step installation for me please? This will be the only things I'll ask, it's just to understand how to used CWM!
Just, imagine I only got a fresh install of MAGLDR 1.11, and... please tell me what to do next! I don't know if I should partition My SD card, or if CWM do it himself, or etc.
For this one, I don't want the data on my FAT32 partition's, but on the ext3/4(? don't know what I must choose between those ) partition.
And, really, thanks for all that's really great work on our HD2! Probably the best Mobile I'd get in my life!!
PS: as I told it before, sorry for my bad english, I'm french... thank you.
well you should post aboit it in lesjaws post and not here..
anyway, have a look on my post #964
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11174148&postcount=964
in JawsMIUI so thats may help you or if not and you will still have a probs with something just post it there not here. Not everyone checking all posts here on XDA so you have a better chance someone will help you cos all user of JawsMIUI checking the posts about JawsMIUI. And many are actually subscribed to it like me so I always receive notification email if some new is posted there.
And about ext partition, u need to know so many people have an issues with this option including me so I using data.img instead and its woks great.

Well, I can't post in the android ROM forum, 'cause I'm new and I need at least 10 post to post message in this section... that's why I made a topic like this!
thanks for your tutorial, it will really help me!
I always prefer ext partition... but if you tell me data is okay, well, I'm gonna try it! Some people tell me they have problem with data corrupted...
By the way, does data use the battery, less, more or equal to ext partitions?
you're welcome.
You can also express your gratitude in just clicking the thanks-icon at the bottom of my post.
About the battery usage, I can't tell u if there is a difference between ext & data.img cos ext didn't work for me and after I haven't tried it anymore.
EDIT:Let me know if u need any more help and also post the info when u finish the flash and if is all OK.
Cheers

Over the internet there are various guides teaching the lesson 'how to get out of a soft brick.' Some guides can be hard to follow and very hoarse leaving a noob feeling like he/she has destroyed their device. Fear Not.This is a comprehensive guide for less experienced users who happen to find themselves in a soft brick.
Dictionary - Soft brick - the phone can still boot, and be flashed easily but in its current state is unusable.
- Hard brick - the phone cannot boot and requires additional devices to do so (USB Jig, Riffbox).
This is the quickest escape route on the interweb and you will be done in no time. Here we go:
First Download Flashtool. Here (You may download any version from the previous versions tab.)
Install Flashtool.
Find the stock firmware for your device. For the x8
E15i android 2.1.1 http://www.multiupload.com/VKNI6Q6ET5 (2.1.1.C.0.0 latest firmware)
Dictionary - stock firmware - latest version of software released by the manufacturer
After downloading the firmware. Extract the file. You will be left with a firmware file with .ftf as the ending.
Go into 'my computer' then 'flashtool' folder then 'firmware'. Then copy the .ftf file into that folder.
Close the folder.
Now to make sure that your phone is recognized by flashtool, go into computer then flashtool then drivers.
Now Install the driver for the x8.
Connect your x8 to your computer.
open the Flashtool program.
Click the bolt icon in the top left.
Select the name of the firmware you downloaded (2.1.1.C.0.0) in the left panel. it will highlight blue.
Click ok (bottom right).
A box will appear telling you to put your device into flash mode. Follow the instructions it gives.
Once this is done the box will dissapear and firmware will flash.
Finally device will reboot and phone will be back to normal.
Congratulations you have unbricked your device.
I hope you found this useful. Please thank me using the button if you appreciate my efforts. #
This is my first guide. Tell me what you think. Anything I could improve.
Very good guide, cause didn't know yet about this..very thanks..

nice and quick guide, i guess that what a paniced newbie search for!
suggestion:i think you should add about the installation of drivers,as many users come here telling that their phones is not recognized by flashtool
also change the 4-noobs at the title, is kidda disturbing...put "for" instaid of 4
There is about 100 threads about that. Just color of text and size is diferent!
guuuuuuuyyyyyyyyyyysssssssssss, dont attack him because he want to help,if you dont like it,ignore it!

Thankyou for everyone's support. I have changed the '4' to 'for' in the title as suggested by stamatis16.
also
As someone who studied psychology, I know that people learn in very different ways. A guide from someone else may not help a certain person. Different fonts evoke different responses and speeds of learning. Different colours do similar things too. So in response to the 'there are millions of guides' argument, I say . Everyone learns differently and this may help someone desperate more effectively than any other. I know that when I needed this help none of the guides were as simple as the one I have composed.
In addition to this, please remember, I am spending my personal time to aid others. So negative flaming saying that my posts are 'not really helping' is always a let-down.
Thankyou once again for the support.
Special thanks lyhengboy stamatis16 for comments.
Guys, think of it this way. Its better for someone to make a new thread which will prevent 2000 threads asking the same topic.
Hmm OP can we merge this topic with the existing one with Lucas? You can always PM him for ideas
For now I agree that it is somehow odd to create extra thread for the same purpose for noob knowing that there is already an existing one. Very nice purpose but we need to be organized as well hugs.

I can understand that but I have clearly highlighted in my post before this one why I made a new thread. Please read it if you have not.
Also I would like to have my own 'branding' if you like, of guides and reviews. I try to spice each one up differently to combat that argument.
Thankyou very much for being kind when posting. Sorry if I come across as rude, I do not mean to be this way.
Q:Hmm OP can we merge this topic with the existing one with Lucas? we need to be organized as well
A: I would be very sad if you were to delete or move or zap this thread for the reasons you mention above. I have spent great periods of time composing and tailor making this for certain users. As a RC I hope you can understand my reasoning.
Thankyou once again.
EDIT: I have changed the title to make it seem 'different'. I also want to mention my 'dictionary' feature. I think this is different and may help my argument.
I fully understand you. Thy will be done
Can someone with a soft bricked X8 let me know if its possible to boot into safe mode?
Hold menu when booting.
Thankyou. I was a bit scared when you said you wanted to remove this post and 'merge it with another.' Great to know you are so supportive.
Yes, please do not merge this. I have benefited allot from this post. Merging it I think will take out the time put into to this. Plus, other people may not see this. I am happy the op decided not to merge.

I don't have a soft or a hard brick. But I acknoledge you made a great guide and thank you anyway.
It was also useful because I am still considering if I should root my Galaxy Ace Duos GT-S6802 or not. And this made me realize that even if it bricks, it can be reverted. Do you have any idea if a hard brick is reversible? Also, in worst case scenario, can I simply download the software from samsung site and install it? Thanks. And sorry if I broke any rules here, I'm still a noob (still scared by the introdutory video haha)

It's ok my friend. I will send you a Private message (PM). You have a name quite similar to another user.
Hello All,
With all the chatters about rooting available for both Xperia z3+ dual and single sim, I thought it would be appropriate to start a thread where noobs may be able to get information regarding the root status of the phone.
Can someone please explain to me (and other noobs, if there are any,) what is the current status? I'm particular interested in the E6533 Dual Sim version with Build Number 32.1.A.1.185. since that is the model of my phone. If there is a tutorial I would be forever grateful if someone can be kind enough to link it here. Thank you all so much, this community is awesome!
I have that phon
I have that phon and I try all rooted kernels but mobile hangs and random reboot I return it to factory reset by flashboot and work some time good then make reboot it seems the developers don't work on dual sim phone sorry for my bad English
So essentially no root for the dual sim? :'(
That would be great if someone writes some "How-to..." Root and Backup and wth are those "different partitions", i think you should backup some of them before doing anything else. I am not a beginner with Android and Rooting and so on, but i come from HTC and this is my first Sony Phone and its really different. I know that there are severall Threads about this, but all the informations are split into a dozend threads and if you are a beginner with Sony its really hard to understand what is the "actually" best you can do.
Great topic, I would also like to know how to. Dont want to lose some goodies such as the excellent noise cancelation and the cameras many functions
Guys, that topic we have already had a number of times. Please use the search function and find (also for the Dual-SIM):

That is basically the problem. These "tutorials" are hidden in several threads and not visible to everybody. Of course you can use the search function and it's highly encouraged to do that. But at the same time we need somebody that has successfully rooted this phone to write a proper decently up-to-date "how to" thread so that everybody knows that they can find the necessary steps to root/backup/etc. their device successfully. Although, OP says noob friendly, I think it's also enough if anyone can follow the steps without hassle and getting lost quickly (understandable = decent English). I mean, I don't force anybody to do this, but it would be highly appreciated by many other users if somebody could take the time to create it.

I have successfully rooted the phone with TA backup, recovery and root for a few weeks now and I have zero problems. I wrote a guide for tablet z4 in its general forum. The procedure is a bit different for z3+. If there is a need for it and I have time today I will do the same for this phone and post it in the general forum.

That is correct. Please follow my guide exactly as it is outlined in http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z4/general/guide-safe-bootloader-unlock-restore-t3386915
I have "bootloader unlock allowed : No", it's keep "No" even i deactive that "My Xperia" application, do i need remove google account in setting ( i mean android account) ?
p/s : sorry for bad english
I see plenty of people asking for rooting help etc. I think we need a proper guide on how to backup TA partitions on M & N. How to restore. How to flash recovery and kernels and in which order. Which tools do you need and where do you get them and when everything is set and done, how to flash a rom.
A step-by-step guide.
I see answers like "just unlock and do this and that" which isn't answering peoples questions. And the result is just people asking "and how do i do that?" and the loop of replies with no content continues. I'd be more than happy to help, but havn't had the device for long, nor have i done anything to it yet. So i'm hardly the right person to do so, yet.
Why are you speaking for these 'plenty of people'? I don't see anyone asking, it's only you because you don't put effort into looking up and reading and you want everything to be served in your plate. Everything is very well written if you TRY to search for it.

If you read the question I posted, I said that for some people the information is not very clear and there are some things that haven't been specified. Especially for the xperia X, why are there so little threads and mods for it? Because it's new? Do you think there will be more mods and stuff in the future?

You should TRY and read the OP again, you clearly didn't get it.
And why i'm speaking for "those" people. Because no one else is. The difference is that i don't have any difficulties doing so, it doesn't bother me. You could've spend your time more productive coming up with suggestions to a possible solution, eliminating those "i need help rooting/flashing/blabla" threads. Whereas you choose the easy way and just be a prick about it.

After flashing this twrp you probably cant access data partion in twrp, to fix this boot into twrp, do a factory whipe and format data partition.

okay, so I can spend some time to write a noob friendly guide on saturday including information about things that troubled me too
=)) finally, I will give you a guild for step by step:
A. backup and restore:
1. fall backup to MM with flashtools (find script for your device)
2. https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/universal-dirtycow-based-ta-backup-t3514236
3. read inside topic to find restore code.
B. unlock:
1. go to this site https://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/unlock-yourboot-loader/ to get unlock code
2. turn on develop option (gg please) turn on oem unlock in this
3. follow sony intruction.
C Relock
relock ( use restore code in A) after that use flashtools to flash any firmware you want (like fall back MM)
ps: it is just a summary because you can fix any problem with gg in some other android devices.
ps2: dont use only one device forum to find your answer, try to find it from others. Because sony devices have same problem when flash OS )) or backup DRM and most them was answered so no one wanna write again again about same problem.
ps3: find to learn ^^.

1. fall backup to MM with flashtools (find script for your device)
2. https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/universal-dirtycow-based-ta-backup-t3514236
3. read inside topic to find restore code.
B. unlock:
1. go to this site https://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/unlock-yourboot-loader/ to get unlock code
2. turn on develop option (gg please) turn on oem unlock in this
3. follow sony intruction.
C Relock
relock ( use restore code in A) after that use flashtools to flash any firmware you want (like fall back MM)
ps: it is just a summary because you can fix any problem with gg in some other android devices.
ps2: dont use only one device forum to find your answer, try to find it from others. Because sony devices have same problem when flash OS )) or backup DRM and most them was answered so no one wanna write again again about same problem.
ps3: find to learn ^^.

Why didn't you include TWRP? Anyway at least you are the first one to write something, but most questions were answered in the poison thread

Just posted it, check it out
Since we now have a working "TWRP", it would be great to have a real Custom ROM. Not to degrade xXx and the other Magisk "ROMs" (using xXx now), but TWRP flash-able ROMs would be great.
Wrong section but correct

Exactly , but don't think XDA will let me show it here.
You are risking lots with the Chinese version. Not being able to see source , you could be dealing with malware etc

I scanned the package with viruse and malware software.
Are there any limitations or dangers with that version we should know about? I'd risk it just for the ability to make a solid backup right now.
Can anyone point me in the right direction without breaking XDA policy??

people keep repeating this, and they don't know what they're talking about. I've been using it for two weeks, it's completely safe, and it works perfectly.

Pm me.
If itnwas safe then why haven't the main devs pick it up
Oh cuz they can't see source. You have no idea what could be loaded in there. Whether it works or not. The point is there COULD be malware or spyware or whatever loaded and you would have no idea

Let me ask you a question. How do you know that normal open-source TWRP doesn't have malware in it?
The reason why 'main devs' as you call them won't accept it, is because of licensing and money. And also embarrassment because they can't figure out how to get a version booting.
The wonderful thing is we can all do what we wish to do. you can use ADB and make your life infinitely harder, and I'll keep using TWRP and accomplish things in a fraction of the time.

Where see a working twrp, here we go again with the Chinese twrp
---------- Post added at 05:18 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:02 AM ----------
just to let you know as most of us devs live here on xda and our friends are devs and are working our asses off to get things going like our main twrp dev who has always provided us with twrp since op6 and is working on it now for 3 different devices which now is super hard being our current partitions and such . ... . Fair warning if most of you realized what sacrifices we do so you can have fun with your devices the time and countless hours ( not minutes ) we spend you should think about that and if it wasn't for us you all wouldn't have nothing enough said .

There you go again. You're not a developer ... And why do you care if somebody uses something that's making their life easier?
In case you can't tell the 7t pro still doesn't have a working TWRP. 8 whole months later. There's a working TWRP for OnePlus 8 pro right now. why do you care if someone is using it? How is using a Chinese TWRP going to hurt development? It's not. I'm going to share it with each and every person that asks for i. Because we deserve to use something beyond crappy ADB.
Chinese recovery works just fine. I was running custom TWRP recovery by this Chinese locked LR. Team two years ago on my Xiaomi Mi Pad, and nothing wrong happened. You all could wait year or more for official relase as development is going very slow, or enjoy it now.

Seems that you dont know anything that you are talking about. How come ADB is crappy? Its quite essential in android development..

This is a thread in the Q&A forum, and as long as the posts are within left and right of the XDA Forum Rules, you can discuss and exchange every opinion, experience and personal view here including recoveries built in whatever country. Simply mind your language before you hit the "submit reply" button and never post in a demanding, argumentative, disrespectful or self-righteous manner or as a self-entitled moderator. And the determination what's acceptable as off-topic in this thread solely rests with the OP @gaww.
However, what we will not allow you to do is to share recoveries (doesn't matter if as an attachment or a download link) unless the recovery is accompanied by the source and if applicable credits are given when due. Nowadays recoveries fall under GPLv3, and we'll enforce this if required. So, I warn everybody who might have this idea do not share a recovery in this thread.
Based on all above, I've cleaned this thread slightly i.e. removed and edited posts where I'd recognised offensive or self-rightous language or self-entitlement.
