I've not had this problem before, but now when I plug in the phone to the PC, it opens the V20, and says the folder is empty.
USB Debugging is on.
If I turn off USB Debugging, it launches Microsoft Phone Companion. It says "To see more info, unlock your phone". IT has a line for Phone Storage and SD Card, and is greyed out.
Any suggestions?

lets cover the basics first. have you selected the tap to change usb options notification in the notification bar and then selected file transfer? if this doesnt work try changing usb slots and usb cables. if this doesnt work, do you have the proper drivers installed for your phone on the computer? if yes, uninstall it and install i back again.

I have no USB notification or options in the notification bar. All I see is USB Debugging on
if this doesnt work try changing usb slots and usb cables.
That brings up the box on the PC to select what to do. When I select the optoin to View Files, it opens an explorer window and has the message "The folder is empty"

I had installed the LG drivers. That was the first thing I tried after your reply, and it was Microsoft drivers. So I reinstalled the LG drivers. That was what allowd the window to pop up to ask what I want to do. But once I do that, it never pops up again.

I just decided to try to go into Device Manager, and uninstall the V20. Only option there was Disable, or of course update drivers.
Ok. I'm seeing them now.
On the Notifications bar is an option: "Android System - Charging". Then in small print below it says tap to change USB options.
So once I do that the following options are available:
Charging
Power Supply
File Transfer
Photo Transfer
Midi Device
Not sure what changed when. I have never gone through that menu to see files.

If you want to always use your usb for that purpose when connected to the pc, then choose file transfer and select always. It doesnt mean it will stop charging. (it will still charge the phone, however it allow access to the computer to transfer files from and on to)

That's always been the options for my v20. I've had the occasional brain fart and forgot to access the menu.
Is this a nougat thing or lg thing?

Okay, so I have a weird issue, and I've been searching and searching all day here at work, and can't find any info on it. When I flashed to Open Touch 5.3 biggy, everything worked great. ....but, after a soft reset, I noticed something changed. When I first loaded the os, I could go to Start, and then select programs and it would tile out to the right. Now, after the reset, when I select start, and programs, it goes to the big icons page, but doesn't tile out to the right. I'm not sure if I'm explaining it right, but you could see how it's hard to even look up info on how to change it back so menu's will tile over. Any help would be appreciated.
The Program that Allows for the menu style Start menu is Called Quick Menu Look for it in your windows folder. when click on it there it open. then look for the "quick menu" item and click option. check your settings there and make sure it is set up to start on system start.
Hope that helps

Man, this is driving me insane. Quick menu is in the startup folder, and when I run the program, and look at the options, it is checked to start when system starts....but every time it goes back to the normal icon page. Even after a restart, it does the same thing. What could I be doing wrong??? Ahhhhh!
I don't know if this makes a difference, but I do have HTC Home Customizer installed.
Did you noticed if "replace system's start-menu" was checked or not... might want to also check it see if "register win key of device" is checked also...
if that doesn't work might want to try and reinstall the program again.

Yeah, I tried all those, and made sure everything was selected. I read somewhere about some weird issues with batterystatus and quickmenu. I think if you have the processor speed selected to show, somehow this messed with quickmenu. I ended up flashing back to a different rom and it works fine. It was just strange though.
Generally, you can enable USB Debugging by selecting
Settings option -> Applications -> Development -> Check the box for USB Debugging to turn it on
But sometimes, the checkbox for 'USB Debugging' is unchecked and greyed (in my case). That's because the tab is currently using another USB setting scheme which disabled the USB Debugging.
There are 4 setting scheme under Setting option->Wireless and Network->USB setting:
Samsung Kies
Media Player
Mass Storage
Ask on connection
Normally the "Samsung Kies" is selected. Change it to "Ask on connection" and go back to Setting->Applications->Development->USB Debugging, you will find it is enabled and can be checked.
You're right. The pre-configured USB connection mode will override some detailed options.

I find this a pain to drill thru the menus to switch this on an off when needed. Has anyone found a widget that can control this from the home screen. I've looked and yet to find one. Since I have an AT&T SGT I have to frequently turn USB debugging on when using the Sideloading Wonder Machine app as AT&T locked out the option for sideloading apps normally. Again, it's a pain to drill thru the menus.
If you use ADW Ex (may work with ADW or another launcher that provides "Activity" or intent based shortcuts), you can create an icon that will take you directly to the page with Application options. To get to it in ADW Ex, choose add "Custom Shortcut", tap "Pick your activity", click "Activities", scroll down to "Settings", tap to expand, tap "Development(.DevelopmentSettings)" and that will directly bring up the page with the USB Debugging checkbox. I'm not sure if that particular activity was in ADW's list, but I know for certain it's in ADW Ex, as I have such an icon on one of my screens.

You're awesome! Works in a P1010 (wifi only) Tab as well, same options. Thanks!
Hello guys, I have quick questions. I have been having a lot of problems with Samsung Kies:
picture thumbnails not showing
taking forever to sync music
abruptly disconnects halfway
etc.
And i was reading around, realising that it could be due to the USB debugging mode being switched on. I want to switch it off but cant seem to find it anywhere in the settings menu. I know for previous phones you can do so via settings>applications>usb debuggig mode. However, on the s4, i dont even have the 'settings>applications' option... I only have 'settings>application manager
Help appreciated!

USB debug mode is off by default
You have to go to about phone and click on build prop 7 times to enable developer options
Sent from my A500 using Tapatalk HD
Really odd on this one. Settings > More > About Device and then tap the greyed out "build number" line 7 times. Then go back a screen and you'll see Developer Options as a choice in the "more" menu.

Thanks so much for your help guys!
Hello,
since I installed my SD card there is a SD Card symbol in the infobar after every start, which says: For trasnferring photos and media. If I klick it opens an app called "my files" and shows the data on the card.
I can just swipe it away, but it will appear again, latest with the next restart. Any chance I can control settings for this?
Thanks
Felix
This has been answered multiple times already, this is normal behavior and there is no way to disable this. Call it a Marshmallow Novelty
Disable the "My Files" notifications, and it'll stop.
Edit: No, after double checking on my Edge, that doesn't seem to do the trick. The notification is from the system framework itself, so disabling the notifications will disable all system notifications, which isn't a smart thing to do.
Running the stock ROM on a XTRONS TE706PL
PX5, Android 8.0.0
MTCE_GS.V2.84_3
(Build date appears to be 20180504)
Pressing on build number does not seem to enable developer options. The message appears saying that I'm now a developer, but the options don't appear anywhere in the settings.
Has anyone else noticed this, or do they hide the developer options in a non-standard location in Settings ?
I encountered this issue when I was trying to enable the Split Screen on my unit. You have to install from Google Play the "Developer Option" app.
Just a question for you, which is the screen size of your unit ? Is the Split-Screen working ?
Thank you
Thanks.
I downloaded a couple of "Developer options" Apps from the Play Store. The first on I tried didnt work, but the second one did. (called "Developer options & Developer Settings".
Which one are U using ?
Re: Split screen.
I just tried it, and it seems to work.
I opened the Play Store app, then pressed and held the "Intent" icon (aka Recent Apps) icon, and it went into split screen (split left right)
Is that what you mean ?
BTW.
Even with the developer options on, I can't seem to connect ADB via WiFi.
I've already tried setting the properties etc and that alone didn't work. I've also tried a ADB over WiFi app, but it needed root, which I don't have (I was attempting to root via ADB but cant connect)
Device will pin OK, via Wifi.
Do you if there is a way to connect as a USB Client, or are all the ports USB hosts.
I Had the same problem.
Solved with this app

When you enable development mode go to settings and use search and just search for development. Don't know they hide it....
Is for you Equalizer/amplifier app working correctly ? I'm trying to adjust front - rear but looks like all channels are L-R rear (all speakers are working) but if I set front all is going quiet, weird...
I had same issue. Connected USB keyboard mouse combo, then in search box type 'developer option' to find. Now some days later, I have no idea what I additionally changed and the developer options menu is now there. I'm 100% sure it was not there initially.
