Running the stock ROM on a XTRONS TE706PL
PX5, Android 8.0.0
MTCE_GS.V2.84_3
(Build date appears to be 20180504)
Pressing on build number does not seem to enable developer options. The message appears saying that I'm now a developer, but the options don't appear anywhere in the settings.
Has anyone else noticed this, or do they hide the developer options in a non-standard location in Settings ?
I encountered this issue when I was trying to enable the Split Screen on my unit. You have to install from Google Play the "Developer Option" app.
Just a question for you, which is the screen size of your unit ? Is the Split-Screen working ?
Thank you
Thanks.
I downloaded a couple of "Developer options" Apps from the Play Store. The first on I tried didnt work, but the second one did. (called "Developer options & Developer Settings".
Which one are U using ?
Re: Split screen.
I just tried it, and it seems to work.
I opened the Play Store app, then pressed and held the "Intent" icon (aka Recent Apps) icon, and it went into split screen (split left right)
Is that what you mean ?
BTW.
Even with the developer options on, I can't seem to connect ADB via WiFi.
I've already tried setting the properties etc and that alone didn't work. I've also tried a ADB over WiFi app, but it needed root, which I don't have (I was attempting to root via ADB but cant connect)
Device will pin OK, via Wifi.
Do you if there is a way to connect as a USB Client, or are all the ports USB hosts.
I Had the same problem.
Solved with this app

When you enable development mode go to settings and use search and just search for development. Don't know they hide it....
Is for you Equalizer/amplifier app working correctly ? I'm trying to adjust front - rear but looks like all channels are L-R rear (all speakers are working) but if I set front all is going quiet, weird...
I had same issue. Connected USB keyboard mouse combo, then in search box type 'developer option' to find. Now some days later, I have no idea what I additionally changed and the developer options menu is now there. I'm 100% sure it was not there initially.

Hello guys, I have quick questions. I have been having a lot of problems with Samsung Kies:
picture thumbnails not showing
taking forever to sync music
abruptly disconnects halfway
etc.
And i was reading around, realising that it could be due to the USB debugging mode being switched on. I want to switch it off but cant seem to find it anywhere in the settings menu. I know for previous phones you can do so via settings>applications>usb debuggig mode. However, on the s4, i dont even have the 'settings>applications' option... I only have 'settings>application manager
Help appreciated!

You have to go to about phone and click on build prop 7 times to enable developer options

Really odd on this one. Settings > More > About Device and then tap the greyed out "build number" line 7 times. Then go back a screen and you'll see Developer Options as a choice in the "more" menu.

Hello,
I'm starting to hate my S7 Edge, and I'm really missing my Edge 6 Plus. Has anyone else had these problems and perhaps have any advice for resolving them? I've searched around and can't find any other reports of these problems.
First, if I'm traveling, *sometimes* I can't use the Google Navigation App if I'm in motion. For example, if I'm driving home, and I decide to get gas, if I say "OK Google, navigate to the Gas Station" It will of course find a close gas station, and allow me to choose which one. After I do so, the app will plot a course, but then will fail to acquire a satellite. The app will just sit there constantly saying "Acquiring Satellite" (or something to that effect, I can't remember the exact error) but it never does find the satellite. The only fix for this is to repeatedly turn off and on the Location services, until eventually it just works. Which is extremely infuriating not to mention dangerous while driving. I rememeber falling in love with my S6 Edge Plus because it had such an easy time navigating and this S7 Edge is so consistently terrible at locating my position.
Second, this is a problem I did not know I had until today: After mis-placing my phone, I went to the Google "Find my phone" web page on my computer, to force my cellphone to ring. I have used this service before with all my other phones and it never failed to force the device to ring. But this time, my S7 did not ring. Luckilly I was able to find my phone on my own. When I did locate it, i noticed that there was an icon in the notification tray saying "Ringing phone" and yet the phone was NOT RINGING! With the phone in hand, I tried to use the webpage to locate my phone by ringing it again. The same thing happened. It put a notification up that my phone was "ringing" in the phone's notification display, but made no actual noise.
I checked the settings - > Lock Screen and Security -> Find my Mobile, and it asks me for my Samsung Account Password.
Why my samsung account? Why not google? I don't understand.
So I signed in, and google location service is set to ON, as expected. Remote controls is also set to ON. There is a notification at the bottom that says to track and control my device, go to: findmymobile.samsung
So I go there, and I tell it to ring my phone, and what do you know? It rings my phone perfectly. Noise and everything.
How do I switch it over to google's service? I really don't like most of Samsung's software offerings, and would prefer to use native google apps out of convenience. I don't remember ever having this problem with any other galaxy device. Not even my tablet does this.
Can anyone help?
I haven't had any GPS problems with mine (U.S. Sprint version). What are your location settings? Make sure it's set to use GPS, and not just network or WiFi.
Find My Mobile and Android 's service are two different things FMM is Samsung's product. To make sure Google's is active, go to Device Administrators and make sure Android Device Manager is turned on. Then go to Apps, scroll to the bottom and tap on Google, then scroll down and tap on Security. Make sure 'Remotely locate this device' (and 'Allow remote lock and erase' if you want that) are turned on.

-Android Device Manager is turned on in the Device Administrators Section.
-I am not sure how to complete the second instructions. I do not see "Apps" as an option in the Settings panels. Can you advise where to find it?
Thank you!

Settings / Applications
Scroll to bottom, tap Google (on my Sprint S7 Edge, it's the very last item).
Scroll down until you see "Security" and tap there.
The first two toggles (on mine) are "Remotely locate this device" and "Allow remote unlock and erase."

Ah, I was able to find the settings under Google, however both are already checked. Are there any other settings I need to check?
{{Edit: I toggled the setting just to test it, and now it seems to be working. I don't know why this worked, because the setting was already properly configured. But it works now. *shrug* Thank you so very much for your help and patience!}}
Glad to help. I seen lots of things get fixed when you toggle a setting. Something in the settings file got corrupted, and toggling the settings on and off rewrote what should have already been there. At least that's my guess.
Just like a smartphone, a connected Android watch also has developer options. These are indispensable for who wants to root his watch (yes, this may have a usefulness, but it is another debate). So here's the simple way to access this new menu.
In reality, you do not have to break your head too much. The technique is the same as on all current phones, since Google decided, it is not clear why to hide this menu (perhaps to avoid possible manipulation errors that could disturb the user experience).
01- you must first go into the setting menu of your watch. Under Android Wear, a double tap on the screen should show you a menu. Parameters is the first choice.
02- Then go to the About submenu and tap 7 times the version number. The operating system will then warn you that there are only two then one touch to activate the menu "Options for developers".
03- Once that is done. Return to settings and you will have, at the bottom, this famous menu.
04- Among the useful options you can find 'Leave enabled during charging', 'Bluetooth monitoring connection' and 'ADB debugging'. This option must be activated if you want to inject something into the watch, for example, to root a smartwatch Android Wear.
Note that after activating this new menu, it is possible that a white slider (a small circle) appears constantly under your finger. Do not worry, it's normal!.
You can disable it by going to the developer menu and disabling "Show Selected Items"
It is the only subtlety of the thing. For the rest, your watch will under no circumstances be modified by the addition of this new menu.
If you ever make a return to the default factory configuration, your developer menu will need to be re-enabled unless you use a custom Android Wear ROM.
I think this method is not working in all the version of the smartwatch.
In Android wear 2.0, there is a different method to enable developer mode.
I bought a new car today, and it came with an android head unit. On the right bottom it has a icon of a car and an icon of app draw. For some reason the app draw is locked.
I know the password to manufacturer settings but I do t see any settings allowing me to access the app draw or play store even though I know it's there.
Anyone got any tips?
No developer options either.
What's weird is I saw a video where someone clicked the android version a couple times and it opened a icon with logo of the software on the head unit. But mine does that but when I click the icon of an M it shows an android icon that just takes me to some android game.
Help anyone?
There is a standard procedure to enable Developer options, (just google it).
However even once enabled, I could not access the developer options because the menu item in settings to access the Developer options is not present.
The fix is to download one of the many apps from the App store that opens the Developer options for you. I tried a few of these and found one that worked.
No idea about your other problems, but until you can post the full details of the unit, I doubt anyone can help
Hi,
I recently bought a Eonon GA9298B and installed it in a 2010 mazda 6.
Android 8 is installed on it.
I'm trying to split screen, and I cannot do it, which I don't really anderstand, because this functionnality has been added with android 7 (I think)
I installed an app to force the option "split screen" to appear in the accessibility settings pannel
==> Is there a way to access to it without scheating with an app ?
When I do it, and try to aplit screen, it says that the application is not compatible.
I installed n app to access developper mode and force apps to resize
==> Is there a way to activate developper mode ? (7 tps on build version doesn't work)
This didn't work at all....
So, I've installed an app to launch two apps on the screen, side by side. But, when I click to "create shortcut", nothing can be adding to the desktop...
==> Do you have an idea about why is it not permitted ? How can I bypass this problem ?
Hoping I am clear enough ...
Thanks a lot
So when you long press on the 'previous apps' button at the top of the screen, nothing happens? It's the icon that looks like two overlapping rectangles (usually).

No, it doesn't do anything...
The thing is that I have no option to activate this feature in the settings.
I tried to use the Split Screen Shortcut app to be able to activate it. Then, when I long press the "previous apps" button, it says that the application does not support split screen...
I followed a video to force the support via the developer settings to force the apps to be resizable.
Here too, I had to use a developer shorcut app because I cannot find how to enable the developer settings on this device...
