Hi all community. I have a phone S4 9505 and i install the firmware as the object. I have this issue:
When i turn on my phone i received the notify for update, i click before on download and then on install. I receive a warning telling me that I must have a TWRP version as Ricovery (I have the version 3.1.0 already) when I click on update the phone reboots and goes into recovery mode but nothing happens. Then reboot normally always comes out the same notification, but I can not install the update. The alert tells me that i can do even manually. how can I do?
You have to manually flash the build.
R
Yes with file.zip from recovery
This is the file (lineage-14.1-20170310-UNOFFICIAL-jfltexx)
Flash that the same way you flashed Lineage the first time.
There is no actual auto-update that will flash it automatically.
R
Yes, while notifying me always comes out in the status bar. Where can I find the official image for my Galaxy device? You could give me the exact link from where you can download the exact firmware to see if there are updates?

I am also having the same problem. Few days ago when I manually checked for updates, I saw a update of about 343MB is available but yesterday when I tried to download/install that it shows that I have the latest version.
Don't know what is the issue but I am sure that was the MEA update (2nd update for GT-i9500). May be Samsung has disabled that update temporarily/permanently

Okay I found something interesting, I opened Kies and went to Tools > Firmware upgrade and Initialization
I entered Model no. and S/N and it showed that latest firmware is MF8, I clicked proceed and it was saying "Downloading firmware upgrade components".
What I doubt is that it downloaded very less, because it completed to 100% faster and I don't think 300+ File can be downloaded atleast on my ISP
Do someone know about this?

Yeah, I heard about MF8 firmware it is the latest one but it should come after MEA update or together with the MF8 update for those who didn't got/install the MEA update.
MEA update is about 343MB and as far I know the MF8 is of 30MB. Now the problem is if you have got both the updates together then it must be more than 343MB. So I doubt that you didn't got the MEA update, but is it possible to update MF8 firmware without installing the previous firmware MEA? Personal I don't think so.
Now the good news is I am also getting update(s), I am gonna do it tomorrow. But at first I have to update my kies.

Can you tell me what type of Status Bar you have after the MF8 update? Is it Semi-Transparent or same as before ? And did you got the Smart Pause Toggle in the Notification Bar after the update ?
If you got the total update then this features/changes must be there in your S4 :-
1.New Camera firmware
2.Smearing issue has been fixed (Purple effect while scrolling)
3.Smart Pause Toggle
4.Move Apps to SD Card
5.HDR Video (Can record HDR video)
6.Semi-transparent status bar
7.New Icons in Settings
8.Secure boot status (About Phone)
9.Increase legibility (Display) (New feature)
Check your S4 and let me know.

I bought a 'brand new Galaxy S4' which came with rooted. I have flashed the BTU firmware to the device but in Keis it says device not eligible for update.
How can I fix this?

You should be able to flash back to stock using odin then upgrade or flash the updated version with odin.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda app-developers app
You have to unroot your device and flash the firmware with corresponding CSC to your country. On top of that you have to flash the firmware that was ALREADY officialy in your country (best way is to download package from sammobile.com) after that the OTA will work. I know because I also had problems with OTA after rooting the device.
I have reflashed the BTU UK firmware I9505XXUAMDM via ODIN and my device now shows as running official rom
Kies now says...
Your devices current firmware version is not supported to update via Kies.
What gives?
Hi,
Recovery mode mentions multi csc. Could this be the problem?

Hi,
Where did you buy a "Brand New S4" with root?
Not sure what you are trying to do.
You have root, so, just flash the latest stock ROM and you are up to date.
If you are trying to get back to "Official" stock, then, look HERE
Use Triangle Away to reset your counter, and you will be able to get Ota.

I bought the phone from Amazon as new.. This is my first Android phone and I only noticed the problem when I checked the apps and it had SuperSU istalled and Kies complained about not being supported for updates.
What I am trying to do is get the phone running as stock so it will update via Kies + OTA and also remove the yellow multi CSC writing from the boot recovery menu.
I have tried unrooting and flashing stock BTU firmware but then I still have the yellow writing in the boot recovery menu and cannot update via Kies.

Ok.. here is what I have done so far..
Rooted the rom and ran triangle away to reset my counter to 1 . I have removed root and flashed stock BTU firmware then wiped data/cache from the recovery menu.
But I still have the multi csc message in stock recovery that will not budge and Kies reports the phone is not supported for updates.
Could this be because the boot loader is locked?

Hi,
The bootloader is not locked.
You should have reset the counter to "0"
Then, flashed the stock firmware without rebooting the phone.
Does the recovery says that it "applied BTU" ? If not then your region code is not proper and that's why OTA does not work. Unfortunately it is hard to change CSC right now as Samsung has blocked the keystrings for user packages, keystrings works only for engineer builds.
And about that flash counter, it does not matter if its 100 or 0. The OTA will work as long as the status in download mode is official for both variables, and in Settings > About device is official too.
As I work at Samsung's R&D I know that you have to flash the firmware which was RELEASED for your country with proper CSC, the CSC has to be set (you can check it in recovery mode) and then both variables in download mode have to "Official" and status in About device also has to be Official. Then the OTA will work (At least over-the-air, not through Kies). Best way to check the OTA is to flash first firmware released for your country and check the updates. Ive done it dozen times on various devices and it always worked. You cannot be rooted and need stock recovery. The only major problem might be changing CSC on your own, because as I said it is not easy right now as Samsung blocked *#272* keystring in user packages (released for the market). Flashing engineering build will make the all keystrings work, but I guess you won't find any of those odin flashables on the net.

It says applied BTU but multi CSC exists. How do I find the original CSC code out? SO its not possible to change this at all or at least get rid of that stupid message?
Is a green andriod bot with a red exclamation mark anything to be worried about?
OTA updates now work fine However they dont work via Kies. Is this normal?
FYI the flash counter was at 3 so somebody had obviously messed with this.
Sorry for all the questions. This is my first Android device having switched from Crapple
It is weird because the box was sealed and had the protectors on the phone.
Multi CSC means that the file that was flashed contains few regions code and that it can be changed inside the OS with keystring. So nothing to worry about as long as it is set to your country and OTA works. As for the icon, it is normal after entering recovery, my device also has that icon, it does not mean that there is some error. Kies does not always wants to cooperate I do not know why, but as long over-the-air works you're not missing anything apart from cable update.

Hi,
That is why I questioned the fact that you bought a phone , and it came "Out-of-the-box" with root.
This just does not happen.
Anyway,glad you got it sorted.
Greetings friends, I bought a note released four N910H. I tried to install an official rom with odin. The installation is completed almost all green bar when the end sends a FAIL erro could not be completed, I tried installing other official roms from other countries and the result is the same. whereupon my phone stopped working and when I switch it asks to install a rom.
You provided no details for anyone to help you. What firmware was on it originally? What have you tried to flash ? What settings in ODIN did you use etc......

You need the pit file for your device model, then you'll be able to. It'll wipe your device but afterwards you'll be able to install official Roms over and over again

1. If you do not already have it download and open Kies 3.
2. Plug your phone into your computer.
3. At the top of Kies 3 click on Tools, then Firmware Upgrade and Initialisation (sic), then follow the on-screen directions.
You will need to type in Your model number with the letters of SM-N900H in capitals, you will also need your S/N which is under your battery. Your S/N is case sensitive also.
Hi, I have a huge problem, I locked myself out of my S7 edge and it frp'd on me after trying for days to fix the problem (I entered the wrong email and kept receiving the incorrect password message and I rest the password to wrong email and later deleted the email) I had my friend who is really good with fixing things. He got it to work and not sure how he did what he did, but he got an update tried to install it. It crashed and is telling me to use the Smart switch PC Emergency Recovery Function. But that's not the worst part.
The major problem is that it is showing that the phone is a SM-G935P. I don't know what he did or how he did it. But I am sure someone on this site can help. I have tried most of the Odin program's I seen and I have downloaded some much firmware that I am begging for help. Samsung said they will help with the frp once I get the phone back working some what can any one help. We been trying for about two months straight. I am going to upload a picture of what the screen days in download mode.

From what I can tell it seems your friend installed Sprint's newer firmware on your device which has a binary version of 6 while the other carriers' firmware are on binary version 4. Sprint did this to make it harder for their customers to switch mobile carriers by not allowing the device to downgrade the binary version (the binary/bootloader version of the firmware is indicated by the digit in the 5th from last character in the firmware version. G935PSPT6BRD2 as shown here the binary version is 6. So now you are stuck on Sprint's firmware and will need to download the latest version of their firmware link: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s7-edge/SM-G935p/
Use the PrinceCosmy version of Odin to flash this and you should be able to get back running from there.
Also by your Download Mode screen's information it also indicated that your FRP Lock is not activated so once you flash the updated Sprint firmware you should be golden.

IMPORTANT REMINDER TO OTHER USERS SINCE THIS IS POSTED IN THE VERIZON FORUM: This is only a solution if you are experiencing the same issue with your phone model SM-G935P (Sprint)..Do not attempt to flash this particular firmware if you are not already stuck with the updated binary version Sprint pushed to their customers as of November 2017 because you will not be able to flash any other of the carriers' roms as it seems the others are not going to update their binary version. When this firmware is flashed to your phone you will (at least for the foreseeable future) be stuck with Sprint's version of the S7 Edge which includes their bloat etc...although you will still be able to unlock the phone for use on other carriers, it will prove to be very difficult to use your carrier's full extent of features as most of those features will not be available in this rom/firmware. Again if your device shows as any other model (G935A, G935V, G935T) then do the research to find the firmware for your model because you will have many more options staying away from this firmware, I've been reading many many posts where users have carelessly flashed Sprint's updated firmware and are unable to go back because of this.
Hi!
I picked up a second hand Galaxy S8 (SM-G950UI 64GB) over the summer with plans to root it and install a custom ROM. I haven't activated it yet, but I was using it on my home WiFi and was notified that it downloaded an OTA update and it would be installed on the next boot. Since then I haven't touched it because I know that some updates can complicate or nullify the ability to root or install a custom bootloader, ROM, etc. I've done some searches on how to prevent the install, but haven't found anything except for how to disable your phone from downloading it to begin with. Now that the update is downloaded to my phone, is there a way to halt it's installation before I move forward with activation and customization? Or is this even a concern I should be worried about?
Thank you!

factory reset, if no gogle account. if there is google account the phone is doomed.
or just neglect the update and directly boot in download mode, uncheck auto reboot in odin options tab, and flash twrp. also s8 can potentially get to Android 11, but latest is 10, you can ask me if needed

I'm not entirely sure, it may have updated in the past and I didn't notice and now it has another update. I just removed google account and factory reset which seems to have cleared the update, thank you. Unfortunately I'm reading that my g950ui is pretty locked down as far as custom recovery and roms are concerned to begin with, so this is kinda irrelevant after some further research this morning.
