P8 for android 5 or 6? which advice are you? - Huawei P8 Questions & Answers

ı use huawei p8 gra l09
use android version 5.0.1 lolipop b211
which advice version you are?
battery-camera-performance which better than version?

I'd recommend in the interest of security, always install the latest update available for your phone. If you update to Marshmallow, 'Pro' camera settings will become available (please see this thread for more details: P8 camera metering mode question).
When you check via Settings > Update, are you being offered any updates at all?
If not, first we need to determine what updates (if any) exist for your phone, so start by telling us the full 'Build number' mentioned in Settings > About phone? It will be in this format (or similar): GRA-xxxxCxxxBxxx.
And also what region & vendor the phone's from - using your dialler, enter *#*#2846579#*#* to access the Project Menu > 3. Network Information Query > 4. Vendor Country info. What does it say against Vendor: xx & Country: xx?

marshmallow is more responsive and for most users it has much better battery life, other than that, Android 6 has also pro camera options and better UI of system, if you are rooted or are going to root your device, i highly recommend to flash ARROW rom, best battery life, fixed few things that stock rom has fully working or are buggy etc

Marshmallow gives better battery life for people who struggled with battery drains on Lollipop. If your Lollipop is fine Marshmallow will reduce battery life. It also kills switching between last used apps by holding the multitaslking button, limits the amount of shortcuts to 9 (basically 8, one spot is occupied by "settings")..

Android 6 has more camera modes and 5x5 screen layout, but the FB Messenger Chat-heads and notifiactions did not worked for me, so i rolled back to Android 5.1, and then it works. But 5.1 has only 4x4 screen layout, which is really annoying after 5x5. But the matter is on Messenger.

[XT1033 INDIA] Issues with 5.0.2 solved in 5.1, as Tested by me

A. Phone, Router & Firmware info:
1. My Phone : MotoG XT1033 Asia [Nov 2013 Model INDIA]
2. My WiFi Router : DSL-2750U_ADSL_Modem (U1, IN_1.08)
3. Root/Mod Status : No Mods, Not Rooted (Normal)
4. Old Firmware : Lollipop 5.0.2 [220.21.28] Stock
5. New Firmware : Lollipop 5.1 [221.21.56]
6. Update method :
a) File "Blur_Version.221.21.56.falcon_umtsds.AsiaRetail.en.03.zip" downloaded in PC. (file md5-checksum = 94856deaaa3f23a1163120b362cbaef10, 208.7 MB )
b) File copied to phone's sdcard/Internal memory.
c) "apply update from sdcard" thru phone's BootLoader/Recovery menu.effect same as update thru OTA file, but safer.
7. Updated Date : Sep 12, 2015.
8. Status : Update successfully installed.
9. Post update actions : wiped cache partition (thru fastboot & recovery menu)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B. Issues with 5.0.2 solved in 5.1 (Sep-2015), as experienced/Tested by me
1. WiFi re-connection issues after disconnect, with Channel-13 or auto-channel, earlier in 5.0.2.
(eg: when enforced WiFi disable/enable or by moving out/in of Wifi range).
These issues are solved in 5.1, even with Channel-13 selected (either manually or auto).
2. When an incoming call, is not picked-up even after screen timeout time (say 15 secs), then ringing stops, & display switches off. Accepting the call after this is very difficult. This issue is solved in 5.1
3. Gallery Application fails/ Misbehaves.
Albums/Videos, shows blank squares/Tiles. Problem temporarily solves on reboot, but only for one invocation. This issue is solved in 5.1
4. Two Photo icons in App Drawer. This issue is solved in 5.1.
5. The phone lagging response issues seems to be improved, if not altogethor solved.
At least it is more responsive (response time faster), and smoother to operate, than in 5.0.2.
But the final verdict on this can only be provided after some extended time of usage (say few weeks or more).
Earlier with 5.0.2 it was horrible, especially as time went by, and I was planning to revert to stock Kitkat-4.4.4.
So I want to know others experience regarding phone resposniveness w.rt 5.0.2 in 5.1
6. I am not facing any early Battery drainage issues in 5.1 w.r.t 5.0.2, as reported by some others.
In my opinion, if only it is better. But not sure (feedback only with couple of days usage)
Anyway surely not very bad than earlier.
7. CPU SpyPlus now reports 300 Mhz as min scaling freq, as against 787 Mhz in 5.0.2.
I am sot sure how significant this is. But some people reported this as a problem in 5.0.2
The highest reported freq is 1190 Mhz.
Incidentally some people are referring to this update as 5.1.1 instead of 5.1, here in these & related forums.
I am only seeing Android Version as 5.1 in : Settings --> About Phone Menu.
with Baseband version = MSM8626BP_1032.3116.98.00R and
Kernel version = 3.4.42-g89906d6
So I dont know whether Motorola is released or releasing any newer version 5.1.1 other than this one.
I think people are confusing this with 5.1.1.
I would like to hear other experts comments regarding this.
Even i updated my moto g XT1033 (India) model yesterday. Was running on CM12.1 before so had to flash 5.0.2 stock and then got the OTA update directly.
The changes are minor but what matters is performance and RAM Management and Battery Life.
1. The performance as mentioned by the OP has really improved. Device feels snappier and more usable then 5.0.2
2. I see many people even after updating to complaining about memory leaks but personally in my device i have 300-400mb of memory free (I have downloaded and updated all the apps and many apps like facebook whatsapp etc are running in background)
3. Another major change that i was able to notice was the battery life has improved (comparing to both cm12.1 based /AOSP based/ 5.0.2 stock) specially the stand by time went to bed with 90% and woke up with around 84% (where in cm12.1 it was used to be 70%)
am personally happy with this update even though it was too late. I'd appreciate if motorola could push the 5.1.1 update too since that does not contain any major changes (security patches).
PS: YOUR BOOTLOADER WILL GET UPDATED TO 41:1A this doesn't mean you cannot flash or root. You can flash and root by the same procedures but make sure to use the latest TWRP AND SUPERSU ZIPS.
Hey OP thanks for the post.
Can you also check if the Screen going completely black issue has been solved as well?
If you check Adaptive Brightness in
Settings>Display and reduce the brightness via the slider the screen goes black. It's like the phone is off, but it's really not. (be careful, don't forget where the slider is so you can crank it up again).
Can you confirm if this is still present in 5.1?
Thanks a lot!
Do you experience any battery drain bug such as Google Play Store or the infamous mobile standby drain ? Would love to hear your feedback about this. Last time I've tried some 5.1 custom roms they had this bug, which prompted me to switch back to 4.4.4.
Thanks.
Hi guys, thanks for your reports.
Could you please comment about the "mobile data active" issue? Is it solved or, at least, mitigated in 5.1?
Thanks!

Well, there won't be official 6.0 for 1g Moto G, if you want to stay in stock firmware, you should update.

TWRP : Please select stock Non-theme version to avoid problems
SuperSU: After flashing TWRP with mfastboot through bootloader use this zip to get root
PS: YOU CAN FLASH ANY 5.1.1 ROMS OVER IT WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM

You only need to install TWRP on your device and enter recovery mode.
Once there, you go to "Reboot" and then "System", TWRP will ask if you want to root and will run SuperSU script.
When you boot to Android again, TWRP will update itself over Play Store.

Wow! I was worried that when the next update will come I need to flash stock recovery.
I don't know why but my Moto G with 30-35 apps installed (Facebook, messenger, swiftkey etc...) sometimes it's just freeze for like 10-15 seconds and that wasn't happend in 5.0.2.
Is Static Wi-Fi working?

Honor 6 Plus (China Variant) Downgrade pack

Hi All,
As you guys know I have been finding a downgrade pack for the chinese variant and another fellow forumer has helped me to get this downgrade file. Here I am to share this file with you all.
1. This applies to people wanting to downgrade the Developer ROM EMUI4.0 to EMUI 3.1 (marshmallow to lollipop)
2. This patch applicable to:
- People who downloaded the developer ROM: http://emui.huawei.com/cn/plugin.php?id=hwdownload&mod=detail&mid=125
- PE-TL10 only Honor 6 plus
- TL10V100R1001CHNC00B260 (CHNC00) model
- People who cant read chinese
3. Flash the zip file (17kb) > Once booted up flash the stale rom (1.2gb) from emui website > you will be downgraded to lollipop again.
4. If you not sure how to flash please snoop around the forum first, the method is to put the file in SDcard and use the dialer code to flash.
Original Thread: http://club.huawei.com/thread-7073390-1-1.html
But all in chinese. Good luck downgrading. I did mine from 6.5.* dev ROM to stable b351. Hope it helps you guys too
Bug's in Developer ROM
- Has some memory editing power saving feature which some games treats as hacking software hence you cant login
- WhatsApp notification crash (Not delay, its totally no notification until you reboot your phone and it will crash again after sometime)

EMUI 5.0, 4.1, OR 4.0. WHICH IS BETTER? (Batery life, stability, perfomance...)

Which Android version do you think is best.

For me EMUI 5.0 with C432B560 (android 7.0) is way better than my previous fw C636B321 EMUI 4.1 (android 6.0).
fingerprint sensor is faster, system too and you can get the original android app launcher...
Battery is also a little bit better.
For my simple use of my mate 8 it's great.
emui 5.0 all the way. system is way smoother than on previous versions, boot up time is faster and battery life is actually a little bit better than before as well. so a great all round package
Sent from my Huawei Mate 8 NXT-AL10
of course the latest is the best.. sometimes not but it must be because of few small bugs. people dont create new stuffs without making sure it improves previous version.
doh.....
EMUI 5.0 B577 firmware of DL0017

Need help
Hi... From where you downloaded emu 5.0 for l29c185b200 plz send me link and tell me procedure for update.... Thanks
I think EMUI 4.1 is better.
EMUI 5.0 is the latest version. But as we know, so many apps have not been ready for Android 7.0 which is with EMUI 5.0.
True, for example WhatsApp was updated with Nougat notification support just yesterday.
I am also having troubles with Hangouts and WhatsApp notifications. If you set silent notification sound the notification LED stops working too.
Hangouts on 7 also ignores when I set custom notification sounds. It'll still use the default sound.
Notificationgate all over again?
Battery life is perfect though. I would say the standby time is much better now. Something was draining my battery in standby on 4.0 and I couldn't find what. There were no wake locks and apps were all closed except for Hangouts and the battery graph was still downhill. Now I can get through night with 1-2% of battery used.
HI dear
when i connect the program (EMUI ) with the my device mate8, I press system update it show me massage " No internet connection. please check your network siting"
there is internet in my computer, what is solution
Thanks
EMUI 5.0 is best for me. Only one problem - not kill applications after turn off display.

What ROM do you recommend for Huawei P8 Lite ALE-L21 ?

I want to replace the ROM on my Huawei P8 Lite ALE-L21.
Currently installed: Android 5.0.1 ALE-L211C432B190.
Please help me choose a ROM that would be best for this phone (in your opinion), considering:
- Android version newer than 5.0.1
- Supports Dual Sim
- rooted
- Stable (i need a ROM that is not experimental, but suitable for day to day use, something reliable)
- Has no bugs with hardware/software (eg. sensors, or other features)
- doesn't slow the phone significantly
I am aware this type of question often annoys people (as anyone may consider a different ROM as "best"), but if you can leave your personal feelings aside and give your best 2 cents in answering my request would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
I use AOSPA by surdu, this rom have a better battery life than the original emui and it just works fine, I had RROS in the past but AOSPA is more stable
Thanks @BananeMan1
I've got into some trouble with my phone (bootloader became locked after installing the updates to get EMUI 4.1)
I posed the issue here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/help/p8lite-ale-l21-unlock-bootloader-t3779631
I have some problems with AOSPA:
- Can't access Phone or SIM contacts, only gmail contacts
- Any imported contacts (VCF) went to gmail account and there is no way to save them in Phone or SIM.
- as is not EMUI, HiSuite doesn't work.
While I'm sure it would be fun to try all ROMs made here, for sure I lack the necessary time, therefore I would like to know which ROM is EMUI and works with HiSuite (if any).
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/development/rom-t3590924
This is Lineage OS 13 for p8 lite. It is unofficial, but it is stable. I currently don't know whether that supports saving contacts to the sim card. But you better have a look at the thread.
There is also an Oreo ROM, which is unstable at the moment and doesn't recommend that.
There is also the Lineage OS 14 for p8 lite 2017.
Yours is 2015 so it won't support neither yours or mine.
