So my cousin knocked over my phone, and now the LED inside is cracked (screen didn't shatter though). Display doesn't turn on but the phone responds to touch.
Anyway what I wanted to know is where I can get a replacement display? My phone is out of warranty coverage so need to buy a new display and have it replaced.

You have a axon 7 warranty (I don't know that it work with Chinese one) that you can get 1 for 79$ screen replacement as far as I know
Every Axon 7 has warranty right now.

hi all,
today i suddenly dropped my hd2 during my daily commuting out of my shirt pocket when i bent doen to pick sumthing up...even thgh it was in the pouch,,,the inside lcd screen developed a long crack across the upper face ..thgh it is visble only on dark screen prominently..
worse is the touch functions have suddenly stopped responding..i can not access my phien features by touch as nothing happens..
screen is stuck in unlock screen..cannot slide across to unock
tried soft/hard reset, practically everthing
its just 20 days old for gods sake,,wh culd be the matter
I feel for you ... is it insured?
no..will warranty cover that,,the i can recive phone calls fine....thru buttons only...is there any way to remove that lock screen so at least i can access function thru keys
Even so, you can't do much with those buttons alone. But sounds like you only broke the digitizer. It costs much lesser than the LCD. You may want to try fix it yourself.
Sorry to hear this chap. If it's not insured (I don't understand why if it's not) then your best bet is to send it back to HTC to get it repaired.
You must be gutted.

You can Insure your phone my friend.. check this
http://newindia.co.in/per-mobile.asp
From what I know..
National Insurance Company, Oriental Insurance Company, New India Assurance Company and United India Insurance Company cover mobile phone insurance. They fix compensation equivalent to cost of replacement by new mobile of same specifications and capacity, including all taxes and duties.
Hope this helps..

hi all..my dealer says he had forwarded hd2 to htc service center and since its a new model the screen replacement is not avalible..he said they quoted estimated price of 20 thousand for the screen.obnoxious..thts 400 dollars!!!
i searched ebay and found digisters selling for about 60 dollars..
my question is shuld i go ahead and buy .what is exctly a digitiser ,,
i dont want to find out after spending the money that its not a digitser problem,,is there nyway to acertain its digitser proble..i no more trust my dealer
400 dollars? that is half a hd2.
the upper layer of the screen is afaik the digitizer.
touchscreen is built of two elements. the lcd and the digitizer.
the digitizer is for handling touch. that may be the part which cracked and is not responding now.
however I am not sure if it's easy to replace the digitizer since you must seperate the lcd and digitizer which are tied closely together. maybe someone experienced here on xda knows how.
ummmm..so u mean basicslly there are 3 components
1..outer most glass which we touch pysically
2..digitser which is embeded on
3 lcd screen
is the digitiser made up of plastic material which is crackable or in my case lcd whihc is 3rd layer has cracked while digitser is intact
unfortunatly cannt post snaps as the instrument is with dealer..
Hello guys,
today my hd2 fell on the floor and the display cracked. the lcd and touchscreen are still working fine, even in the area where its cracked.
Is there a chance just to replace only the plastic case on the lcd? Or do i have to completly renew it?
Thanks!
Nope, sorry.
There's no plastic display on the HTC, nor anything plastic. The LCD is soldered to the digitizer and normally both should be replaced. They cost around 100$, and the replacement is about 200$ in the HTC center. You do the math, it's the price for a sec hand HD2. Otherwise, you can buy and change the digitizer (costs around 50$). But this is a very delicate operation to do by our own -you have to cut the LCD from the cracked digitizer and do many other things. As someone have said for some other reason "it is an easy operation, but if you have no experience in soldering, do not try to learn it on your laptop motherboard". So, your choice is between repairing it in HTC for 200$ and "repairing" it some other service for 100$, with questionable quality and voiding your warranty.
As you may guess, I have walked that road already. My HD2 was 1 week old. After some sleepless nights (as I was wondering what to do AND because the "perfectly working cracked screen" had cut my fingers) I sold it 100-120€ under the second hand market price and found a new one. That's also my advice to you. I.e. the first one. The second one is to buy a silicon cover for your next HD2.

Anyone know where I can get an hd2 repaired, or anyone who can do it ?
Bought an hd2 with a dead digitizer. Pulled it apart to repair the digitizer. Thought I cracked the screen, but I didn't, turns out I cracked the glass on the old digitizer (no big deal). Put it back together a very minimal amount. Now, it's turning on, but it doesn't do anything after the screen turns on.
Know what I can do, or anyone I can send it to ? I'm in Canada
go into the store where you buy it and ask them.
I bought it from someone who didn't want to fix the digitizer. the dead digitizer was known to me when I bought it.

Please, find repair information from Htc site
"http://www.htc.com/ca/support/service-and-repair"
Well, dropped the phone from the car dock and it hit the dash and the front screen cracked and spidered on the bottom half of the phone and it doesn't work. I tried to contact LG about an estimate on how much it would cost to replace the LCD and digitizer on the phone, but the best they will tell me is that I have to ship it to them on my dime and then wait for them to then tell me how much it will cost to repair the phone. I really don't want to waste my money shipping it if it's going to be something like $200+.
Does anybody have first hand knowledge on how much they charge for a new lcd / digitizer replacement on the Nexus 4 with LG doing it?
Bonus Question: What's the cheapest way to ship it to them, considering I have the original case and taking into account different packaging and shipping carriers?
It's been a while since you posted this, so you probably already took care of it. I just sent mine to LG for a screen replacement and they charged $140. Shipped via Fedex. I sent the phone in the box it came in, but I didn't get the box back.
How is the work they do? I have been thinking of using my warranty and having them replace the screen rather than play the play store lottery. Screen was really yellow when I got it which I didn't care about as it clears. Unfortunately after 2 weeks it cleared but has a slightly visible yellow glue ring on the lower half that gets very visible and manilla color when the phone heats up. I sat the phone down and noticed at can angle that light bends around the ring area... The screen is slightly indented like a car ding.
I absolutely don't want to waste stock and deal with Google sending me a worse phone. I love this one... Everything perfect but the glue ring. Can you guys share your experience having lg repair? I did the same thing with my n10 for screen issues with Samsung and it came back with a worse screen and scratched up on the back. Had to send it right back. Would not like to repeat that experience with LG.
Did they nick up the edges of the soft touch plastic or scuff up your keys or the back glass? How long was the turnaround? Any help is appreciated.
Sent from my 5th and final Nexus 4
Hello everyone!
Like the title reads, I dropped my phone facing the screen and landed on a rock!
To make matters worse, I just learned that when switching from the N4 to the LG V20, my insurance protection was taken away from my account.. I'm livid because I only used my insurance twice in 6 years!
Before calling in and giving the poor rep a piece of my mind, I would like to ask here what have anyone done in a similar scenario and how would you go about fixing the phone without insurance, in case I can't get TMO to reinstate it.
The worse part of all of this is that I can't just call and say "my screen is broken" and use the insurance thru TMO.. Yikes!
I did not have (still don't have) a screen protector but want to fix the screen while I wait for an actual protector.
Pretty much, what options exist for my particular case?
Thanks everyone in advance!

Just get a few quotes from repair stores
If it's just a broken outer glass with the lcd functioning properly it should be quite an inexpensive fix ($7 USD + labour)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replace-front-New-Touch-screen-outer-glass-Lens-For-LG-V20-H990-/322358040572?hash=item4b0e0957fc:g:iioAAOSw5cNYOpqk
if the whole screen needs replacing it would be a bit more expensive ($100 USD + labour):
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LG-V20-H910-H915-H918-H990-VS995-LCD-Display-Touch-Digitizer-Assembly-Frame-/272424557440?hash=item3f6dc4db80:g:dw8AAOSwB09YPpXM
The thing I've discovered from the past phones that I've repaired is that the digitizer is adhered to the lcd screen and is difficult if not nearly impossible to separate from each other.
The lg V20 is one of the easiest phones to repair. Replacing the entire screen looks to be a simple task.
Nevermind, I looked at the replacement screen and it seems that the front glass is just that and only adhered by the top and bottom. If that is the case then the $7 option is quite possible. I've replaced a similar glass before and it was only slightly difficult cleaning the broken glass off.
You can find out which option is needed with two simple questions.
1) Is your LCD cracked? Just turn it on and you can see if there is any color bleeding.
2) Does your touch screen still work 100%? Click around to find out.
If your in great standing with T-Mobile and relatively polite they may reinstate the insurance for you to use if it wasn't that long ago.
Thankfully in India we have a 6 month one time screen replacement offer by LG which I plan to use this Saturday as from nowhere I see a deep scratch on my front glass however the screen functions fine.
