Hey guys,
I have a tmobile note 4 with COD6 and was wondering I'd it would be safe to update to COG2 and keep my root without any issues? I'm going to have to update via kies, which I have never done before due to the OTA option stating that since I made unauthorized changes to my device I will have to do a manual update. Have any of you already done this and had/experienced any improvement's or issues?
Couple weeks I got the notification for the latest OTA update but I can't install it because I have rooted my phone and have the hacked WiFI tether. I am on the Verizon network. Any suggests? or is this a way to disable it from making me try to install the update or is the update worth it?
Flash kdz, reroot after
Hi everyone. Just bought an S6 Edge+ yesterday, and today I tried updating its firmware, but it gives me the error message of "Your OS has been modified..." etc. It tells me to use smartswitch to update. However, since I bought it used, I have no idea how they unlocked the phone. Is it possible that by updating with smartswitch my phone will be locked again to its original carrier?
No, smart switch does not have the ability to re lock
I checked the unlock my device app pre-installed from T-Mobile and it says my device isn't unlocked. Can't it be that the unlock I have is some sort of software unlock that can be lost if I force the update?
Bump
Flash stock firmware you wont lose data itll fix your issue then u can update
Just received off eBay a G6 H872 with ver. 7.0. I am running it on a AT&T mvno. The thing it has all the Tmobile stuff, before I could disable automatic checks it downloaded an update which I believe is ver. 8.0. Alert says touch to restart and complete update. I first want to get down the process to root before upgrading, and because of anti rolll back, yada yada I obviously don't want it to update.
Is it possible to delete the downloaded update?
If the phone restarts for any reason at all is the update gonna get installed, or doe the update only run if you select to restart from the update notification?
Anybody know what this is? Have a Verizon phone on total wireless with September software, tried "software update assistant" in system updates (phone said no updates available). It loaded Verizon update on PC and smart switch on phone and then said update TH7 is ready. I backed out not knowing what it is.
It's an OTA carrier update. These are official updates. It will give you the latest security patch and maybe some other features.
Thanks, it was the October update. The phone was purchased from Sprint, then switched to Verizon and then to Total wireless. Was on the August update and tried the "software upgrade assistant" and it loaded the Verizon update app on my windows 10 desktop. I'm happy, the Total SIM I guess left the Verizon software on the phone.
