Just received off eBay a G6 H872 with ver. 7.0. I am running it on a AT&T mvno. The thing it has all the Tmobile stuff, before I could disable automatic checks it downloaded an update which I believe is ver. 8.0. Alert says touch to restart and complete update. I first want to get down the process to root before upgrading, and because of anti rolll back, yada yada I obviously don't want it to update.
Is it possible to delete the downloaded update?
If the phone restarts for any reason at all is the update gonna get installed, or doe the update only run if you select to restart from the update notification?

Hey, I have a LG D855, and I'm rooted on A6NL D855 V10G. My phone suggested to OTA update to V10I. Now I want to know if it's safe to do so. And if that's the case, what would happen to my root? I'd actually be glad to be rid of my root since I think it's lagging my device. So, what exactly would happen if I updated? Anybody with experience?
Would think although showing an ota when you download it it won't install as it will detect your root. In order to update you will have to return to unrooted state. A search will show a couple of threads instructing how to.
From what I understand, as long as you haven't made any changes within the system folder or installed a custom recovery, the OTA should install just fine. Worst case is if anything has been changed, it will tell you and it won't install. But yes, you will lose root once it is installed.
root and ota should be ok.
but be very careful if your g3 is bumped!! if you had installed bump! on your device, an ota update fails and the reboot always ended in the recovery. i tried almost erverything - no way out. i had no chance to reboot into the system!!
only flashing back to stock had fixed the problem (incl. loosing all personal data).

When u are rooted, it will download the new update (ota), but it will give a error when it installs. You have to update via pc.
Sent from my LG-D855 using XDA Free mobile app
Just had this happen to me on LG G3 for AT&T
Was rooted, got prompted to install the update, I kept declining until it stopped asking.
Then my phone died, after plugging it in and restarting my phone, it instantly jumped into the update window with no other options.
It updated automatically, and it didn't stop or error because of my root. I'm on 4.2.2 now, most up-to-date version on AT&T.
To make it clear: I'm rooted with TowelRoot, NOT with Bump!
I notice on my phone that there is a software update coming thru. Wanted to know if this update will effect my chances of rooting in the future? Is this a good update? Should I update?
There is root now for PE1
The new update is PF2.

The PF2 update shows security patch level is July 1 on my phone.
yes, you are correct. I thought I took the update but the update failed. Don't know why.
Same thing happened to me this morning. Been trying to install it, but all I get is a 402 error message.
If anyone can let us know if root is still available after the update, that would be awesome!
Was able to root SGS7 on PF2 using guide on XDA Vz S7 Forum...
"Same thing happened to me this morning. Been trying to install it, but all I get is a 402 error message."
Try to install Smart Switch and update using it. I updated successfully by doing that.
Root works fine on PF2, I took the update and then rooted with no issues. Just use the general debloat script not the VZW specific one. However I had to use the samsung/verizon software to install the update, the OTA kept failing at 32%
So I've been using 6.0.1 since I got this phone last year. I rooted it pretty much immediately, but then Samsung pushed out one of their security patches, which basically "bricked" the software. Whenever I try to update the phone, I get a fine:
The operating system on your device has been modified in an unauthorized way. Try downloading software updates using Smart Switch on your computer or visit a customer service center

Basically I rooted my phone, so OTA updates aren't available.
Apparently the new Nougat update is now live in Denmark, so I really want to update my phone, but I don't want to lose my apps, documents, images, and so on. I basically want to do an update, just like I never rooted my phone. I don't care about keeping my root.
How do I go on about this? I just want to "remove my root" and do an OTA update to get Nougat the most legit way possible.
Thanks!
EDIT: I should probably also say, that when I open SuperSU, I get a:
There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem

Since that security update from Samsung last summer, my root magically disappeared, but it's still there apparently.
I got an unlocked version and it's stuck on A6013_34_181226. It finds nothing on OTA, and manual updates from the site don't work. It doesn't have any tmobile apps or logo so it doesn't look like I got that version, but for some reason it won't go. Local upgrade just tells me "system update initialization failed"
You need to update to OOS 9.0.17 first as OnePlus changed things related to bootloader that force you to install it before going to Q https://oxygenos.oneplus.net/OnePlus6TOxygen_34_OTA_024_all_1909112343_9fd6e0057b8747dc.zip
