I searched the forum but couls not find the solution.
I got my Phone as a 201 with Android 4.4.3.
I updated it with the instructions from coolicool to 201 - 5.0 Andriod with Build LRX2 M.5.0.0-HK 1.66.
Second step I took was to uprgrade by the instruction on this forum (Thanks all !) to LRX2 M.5.0.-RU 1.1.124.
This worked.

But I still have some problems.
1. Won't update to 134
2. Backscreen (e-ink) "touch" doesn't seem to work. So I am stuck with the notification screen "YotaMirror is enabled" when I try to use the mirrorscreen option. (was working OK before upgrades)
Anyone knows how to get it to upgrade to RU 134 or higher
And has anyone a solution to get Mirrorscreen working again or at least skip the notification screen.
An additional problem started to show up.
The YotaPhone shuts down 5-10 seconds after I switch it on.
Anyone experiences with that kind of behaviour ?

Tried to follow these instructions but it is a bit overwhelming.
When flahsing (select 1. ) I noticed an error passing by ( system.img)
but at the end there was no error message and it said soemting like "you are already on RU 1.124"
Would you a have a step by step guide for my situation ?

Have you used the reworked version of yotaflasher? How much RAM do you have in your PC? Post screenshots of the passage or the error you mentioned. The guide above is already a "step by step", read it carefully.

I down loaded the reworked flasher and unzipped it in a seperate folder.
When I click the exe file ( as administrator), for a very short time the black screenshows up, but it is gone before I can select anything.
When I click the Installer icon on the desktop, It shows the black screen and the selections 1, 2, 3 , and I get the error during the flash procedure.

I did paste copy the content of the rework version into the original flasher folder, and this time is worked, that is: no error messages, question to updat radio and user content and reboot .

Try it with a different PC and a new download of the rom.

If trying a new pc doesn't work, start again - flash the oldest Russian kitkat firmware and repeat. I think i got that error message too. Forget any stuff about "radio", that's too complicated and in most cases unecessary, just download and flash.

Hey robmaas99, did you manage to solve the issue? My e-ink screen also gets stuck in the "YotaMirror mode is enabled". I am pretty sure this is not a hardware issue because if you enable the double tap to unlock the screen it gets unlocked... so the taps are getting registered by de digitizer.
Version: LXRX21M.5.0.0-RU1.1.124 with the S01_003_3034_CN1_M05 Radio (the hybrid baseband).

There exists a widget that executes some code to start the mirroring on the back screen.
Its part of the yota toolbelt, found here:

If you have installed that, you can make a shortcut/widget on you normal home screen that will start the mirroring when you press it.
But from what I read, the problem is that it does not turn on the right touch mode for the back of the display, so I'm not sure it will work, even if you can get in to mirroring mode.

Hi Tomgaga, thanks but it didn't work. I still get stuck in the "Yota mirror is enabled". However I found that this is related to the YotaHub application because killing the process, and launching the yotamirror from the normal screen, plus launching it again from the EPD seems to make it work. However, it only works once. As the YotaHub is relaunched and keeps making it unusable.
@robmaas99 Did you make any progress on this?

Did you try deleting the data+cache of the yotahub app (Warning this will reset your edp screens config) ?

Yes, I have tried to perform full factory settings, and deleting data individually from the app. Seems to be the same... really strange. More ideas welcome! Thanks!

Sorry to say, but sounds like a hardware problem with the epd to me.

How this works?
Windows Mobile runs on your concurrent phone, so when Android is being boot up on the device, it will actually 'kick off' the RAM working concurrently on Windows Mobile and use the entire RAM for linux itself.

How to get started with Wing Linux?
- Backup your SD Card and Phone before doing anything!
We have a few cases with wiped out data, better do it, guys!
1) Go to the Wing Linux's Website
2) Get Wing Linux's 0.4.2 (here)
3) Get our very own HTC Elf/Elfin Cab (Dont Worry, what you press on the phone will be what you get!)
4) Install both Wing Linux 0.4.2 cab and the Elf cab in your storage card (So make sure you have at least 512mb free storage space in your memory card)
How to get Google Android started?
1) After installing the cab as mentioned above, go to programs, and start Wing Linux
2) Press run!
3) After seeing 20000++ lines of code, you will reach an install screen (which is blue in colour)
4) You will take sometime there as our phones do not have a physical keyboard. So wait for it to install.
5) After that, the calibration utility will start, make sure you tap the right corners of the screen (The calibration process is only ONCE, so once you click the wrong corners, good luck, we need more steps to get it back working!)
6) Android will start loading and you are ready to get blasted!

How to copy files / install apps into Android using Windows
1) Install this 'Ethernet Gadget' Drivers (In order to let the phone talk to the PC)
- It works for both Windows XP and Vista (There will be prompts here and there)
- Settings for network card
ip: 10.100.0.2
mask: 255.255.0.0
2) Download WinSCP
3) Install em!
4) Key in the following settings into WinSCP:
- Server: 10.100.0.1
- Username: root
- Password: wing
5) To install Google Android Apps
- Make sure to download the app first!
6) Put the .apks to /system/app/directory through WinSCP
- (ex: scp xxx.apk [email protected]:/system/data/)
7) Done! It will show up in the application list!

Q: Which Device Can Run This?
A: A GSM HTC Touch / It works for both Elf and Elfin (Yay!)
If you use a CDMA version of HTC Touch, please go to your Vogue forum.
Q: Is my phone Elf or Elfin?
A: Go to Start > Settings > System > Device Information > Hardware tab, if the 'RAM size' shows 64MB it's an Elf, if it shows 128MB for RAM and 256MB for Flash then it's the Elfin. (This doesn't matter as Wing Linux is able to run on both, just added this question for reference only)
Q: How big is this thing?
A: It is about 300mb (Estimated), as the image is already 250mb.
Q: My phone cant connect to the network
A: Please switch off the Sim Password on your phone using Windows Mobile first before coming into Android.
Q: How to get Data (GPRS) working on your device
A: Go to your settings menu in Android and change your APN options, you can get that from your carrier.
Q: How to re-calibrate the screen?
A: Go to storage card, than go this folder called 'linux', than open default.txt. Look for the line that says "set CMDLINE", add "reset_ts" to it.
Remember to remove that once you're satisfied with the calibration.
(If Microsoft Word asks you to save it in their format, always say no)

ok so i have been following this:
2) Rename the downloaded file to zImage and copy it to /Storage Card/linux
3) Modify your default.txt to have an MTYPE of 2372
4) Delete your rootfs.img file to force the installer to re-run (and to clean away any custom qwerty.kl files you may have)
5) Boot into Wing Linux and let the installer run
6) Your Key Mappings is up to date and you do not need to modify it anymore!
i get into android but keys arent mapped...

Tried to install but it seems to be hanging in an htcharald login: screen where nothing happens. When i push some buttons some letters appear but there is no key to accept apparently. Using ELF for this. Also there are multiple cabs in the Wing Linux package, one big one and a couple of smaller ones that all seem to be the same thing (if you install them they will keep telling you that they will uninstall the old version before installing.)
Any tips?
instal first the big cab and then th e herlad one...
after that donload the zimge-elf and change its name to overwritte the original...
then you have reach as far as me... you can run android, just wait
BECAUSE THE FIST LOADING IS AS SLOW AS BALLS...

Hey does anyone knows how to make the phone vibrate? I know we haven't got sound working yet but how about it to vibrate?

EDIT: I now have a problem with messaging, when I try opening messaging program, a window appears saying something with ONLY a button to Force close, bud I hadn't time to read :S Anybody got an idea? (I worked before I receive a SMS and sent one yesterday, but today, I couldn't get it working after several reboots)

you dont lose your wm by doing this. android must be started from within wm, so u can get ride of it by just deleting the folder.
a soft-reset on the phone will take u back to wm.

First of all Thanks a ton, for your post. I was eager to try Andriod OS. I followed your given steps and successfully was able to run Andriod but I am facing some problems, hope you can help. First problem is that my SIM does not have password, but still it says NO NETWORK (didn't remember exact error message), therefore cannot make any calls. Another problem is that when I press the end call button (the RED one) it keeps on showing a verbose view and some scrolling text after every few seconds. Whats the problem and how to rectify it?

installing #5, then #2 it says "the previous version of Wing-Linux - Board Support will be removed before the new one is installed." and when i click OK, it install but i dont see Wing- linux on programs... is this correct? im getting 1.6kb??????
Hi all! If you're gettin some kind of "freeze" when closing games, or just ramdomly ( maybe you dont know what causes it), but it usually happens when changin orientation (exit from a game will turn your landscape view to portait desktop) on openGL apps
It is something wrong with our GPU drivers since 4.2.1 (4.2.0 didnt had it) so @chenshaoju took JDQ40C (4.2.0) GPU drivers and made a zip. Thats a FIX for reboots/freezes but as they come from an outdated version, they has a few bugs (some kind of lag), so we should send something to google to really fix this!
If you want to know if you have this type of "bug", make this

[please try to "force" your N4 doing this procedure, i mean, the fact its that it freeze when "loading" and rotate,so try to zoom in&out images while changin orientation(as I think its something related to rotate)] I cant "play" with g.earth more than 10-15 mins doing that steps....

PD: If I just keep it freeze to see what happens....in 30-60 secs it goes black screen and it doesnt respond, so had to press power+volUP
Its a shame to have a phone with that issue and not hav any news from G...... and what bothers me its why just some of us are gettin those "bugs", is there anythin different on our nexus HW ? :silly:

I just tried this with my phone. Running PA Mar 25. Franco kernel. Had the exact same experience. Terrible. Do you know what causes this?

What I think about this issue..... as I dont know what really causes it:
- It happens when changing orientation, most times instantly, but sometimes it "takes" 2-3 secs to get frozen"
- Dont know if it is related or not.... but it usually happens when using wifi (I mean, when playin through wifi or on g.earth)
- It is not related to any specific kernel/ROM, it also happens on stock (at least google earth procedure)
- Im aware if it is a HW issue, but I've tested my end even with Faux OC1.8 playing videos & games "heavly" and it doesnt seem to affect... it is just orientation related I think. :silly:
maybe someone expert could help us!

*Gkeep issue: If I hav a google keep widget on lockscreen and press camera (to take a picture from google keep widget) then rotate and hotboot (thats strange as it "usually" get frozen and hav to press pwr&vol+, but it just hotboot and camera is not accesible unless :I reboot)

hey mates! I've got some news.... after flashin stock 4.2.0 image (jop40c) it goes just perfect, did "g.earth test" and :good: had it for a few hours and then I installed OTA....
With 4.2.2 again I tried "gearth test" and .... freeze :crying:
How could it be possible?? maybe someone could help us

Hey all! Had for almost a week stock 4.2 (JOP40c) and no problems related to "reboots/freeze" when leavin some games and I can know "lockscreen" when im horzontal (ie: in 4.2.2 if I open any app and rotate device, then press power to lock.... and it hotboot, losing all my unsaved work )
So for me (and other with "orientation" issue) seems that any update of JOP40C "break" something (maybe some drivers )
Most weird thing is.... why r only a "few" with this issue, I mean, does n4 could have different HW and thats why some drivers are messed up ?
PLEASE could any dev help ? Maybe theres only a couple of files that has to be pushed from JOP40C to newer releases?
For now Im going back to PA, as wih this STOCK 4.2 I have SOD (device woulndt wake up at mornin almost every day),a huge batt drain and I love custom ROMS
But plz I need some help, as I cant RMA for now, and most important thing: it seems to not be HW related, , so it is possible some kind of Software FIX
PD: If someone is "new" to thread I've already tried wipe/flash everything with no luck (just this stock JOP40C seems to be "free" of this orientation bug)

Also saw a few ticks on google (this issue is affectin a lot of N10 and some GN.... ) so google must know our situation, but they didnt say nothing...

Im goin to update OP with your post (tested on last PA 3.5)
Now we have to find which file is messin up our gpu drivers, because it has some kind of lag (as it did when was released, thats why google update ) i dont have too much free time but ill try one by one to find which one is "buggy" ASAP
File can be flash through recovery as any other mod/rom/kernel
Other thing we must do is to make google knows about this (wrong/bad gpu drivers for some N4), anyone knows how could we do it? (@ or something)

Wait,you not edit the updater-script?
Because the updater-script will delete all file in /system/lib/egl/ .

So, i’ve made 4 update packs:
mako_CM10.1_RC2_default_GPU_drivers_update_signed. zip -- Default GPU drivers come with CM 10.1 RC2, which have the issues mentioned in the topic.
makffical_4.2.0_GPU_drivers_update_signed.zip -- Official 4.2.0 GPU drivers (Sorry for the typo, it’s "Official",not "Offical") .
mako_fixed_GPU_drivers_update_signed.zip -- Lite patch, with only eglsubAndroid.so and libEGL_adreno200.so . (thanks malavi )
mako_mixed_GPU_drivers_update_signed.zip -- Using the alpha version of the GPU drivers (form pa_mako-3.55-19MAY2013-185039.zip), with eglsubAndroid.so and libEGL_adreno200.so replaced.
All the GPU drivers have been tested(except mako_CM10.1_RC2_default_GPU_drivers_update_signed.zip ) in Google Earth.
And I tested with 3DMark. I used a fan keep the phone cool, here are the results:

re-occuring "system update" message after upgrading to Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 EU

I updated to the latest Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 EU OTA update on my YD201 and since then i get every few day's a popup to search for system updates,
setting it to automatic or disabling the automatic update seams to make no difference.
Fully stock MM EU image, update done trough OTA, only with developer options enabled.
Anyone having this annoying popup? Any idea how to stop it?

I'm having this issue.
I have an yd206 (RU firmware and the appropriate hybrid radio firmware), althought it's chosen the automatic system update option, since last week hourly the system ask me to check for new system updates. I manually check for new updates, the system inform that my system is 'up to date', and about an hour after it asks again to check.
I tried to stop the 'System Update Service' and clean the data and cache, but it didn't work. Tried to clean the data and cache of the app 'System Update' but the system doesn't allow me to.
Maybe it's just a coincidence, but the always-on-screen doesn't show anymore an option to disable the alarm when it rings...
May be the answer is in the OTA update? I mean that your system was updated from lower version to actual over the air. I have a YD201 with 6.0.1 and I don`t facing any problems because it was flashed via PC I think. Backup your data and try to reflash a full MM ROM via PC

I don`t see any problem for you to flash Russian ROM, you just will need to set ENG (or any you want) language and use the phone as usual.
I got the same notification few days ago. I've been using the Marshmallow RU rom for few months now. Maybe there's some fixed date within the rom that was just passed which now makes these notifications appear? Like they were planning to release an update before this date and wanted to make sure that people don't keep using this "outdated" one.

Just to check, are you sure that your device it's a YD201, and it's IMEI starts with '356'?
Sorry about the question, but at April 10th, Yota Devices published at 'Facebook' an announce about 'grey import' of chinese Yota Devices to Europe and Russia, since the device of our friend @kosmatyj doesn't have the same issue, and I was wondering if this specific issue occurs only at 'non-EMEA' devices with EMEA firmware.
I've found in another forum the same issues described here about re-ocurring update notification and the alarm animation at the always-on display ( http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=550302 ).
I've tried a solution posted there, didn't work for me, but I hope it can help someone:
1. Go to Settings / About phone / Update the system , disable Auto-update .
2. Go to Settings / Security / Device Administrators . You uncheck the Update system .
3. Go to Settings / Applications / All . You find the System Update . Clean the cache and stop the application.
4. Reboot.
I tried clearing the system update app cache, no dice. I also tried disabling numerous System Update services, but the notification keeps coming back. It doesn't seem to be any of the usual Google Play related services. It is especially keen on popping back up when wifi is connected. Maybe the system logs will give some clue. I'll give them a shot once I find the time.

I have an YD206, so Yota won't give me support since they published at Facebook in April 10th that they didn't support the YD206 variant.
But you have the YD201 with the correct firmware, I think you could ask the Yota Support about this issue, maybe they will help us about.
I just tried doing some digging in the logs, but could not find anything that would be directly related. The notification is launched as soon as there is network connectivity after reboot, but I probably don't have the patience to do network traffic analysis.
The Intent that is launched from that notification is the following:
cmp=com.symphonyteleca.update/.ota.SystemUpdates
That is the Activity responsible for checking the updates, but it is not the one that creates the notification. That comes from somewhere else. Some service that first makes a network call (or at least waits for network connectivity), and then creates the notification.

Ok, if you don`t want to flash Russian ROM try to disable notifications for Update Service.
I'm on the Russian ROM (RU1.1.47) and getting these notifications. Also, you can only disable notifications for apps, not services.
One thing that might work would be to block the network call that triggers the notification from the hosts file (provided that wouldn't break something crucial). One would need to figure out the IP that's being pinged first, though...
On Facebook Yotaphone replied with
".....developers already know about the issue with the system update. Please send your IMEIs via private messages. This type of notifications can be disabled remotely by the developers. Thank you for patience and sorry for this inconvenience."
Seen it apparently can be "solved" from serverside it's rather silly that they want to block a list of IMEI's instead of fixing the issue...

This actually works, awesome! The first one got rid of the notification, and the second disabled the check. No notifications after reboot.
NOTE: This WILL most likely disable the OTA updates. But it's not like we will be getting too many of those anyways. And now if you go to System Updates it'll open some different (probably Google's default) activity, which will probably never find any update for the device even if there was one released. But personally I always come to XDA to check for updates myself anyways.

Can you still boot it to twrp?

The rom is promising but it just doesn't work at all, i'm on a J330F and i get stuck on the custom boot logo.

I'm on a J330F and use this rom 20 days. there is no problem at all.everything works perfectly.
In my opinion, this is the best Rom j330 for that moment.
It even works on J330FN, still using it.

I have tried every single possible way to install this ROM, i even tried your other Port from A3 and it just goes back to the boot logo whenever it finishes with updating the applications (the green android screen that comes after the boot logo). You should probably post a detailed info about what Stock ROM we should be in before using this Custom ROM and the steps.

No you didn't specify that you need to be already on ROM J330FXXU3ARC5 to flash this, it's not even stated on your install guide either. So i guess i'll have to downgrade my phone then see if this will work by then.

Flash the stock Rom and back it up then after reflashing this Rom restore just the boot partition with twrp as the op said
Cant encrypt device on stock rom without root the system ui crashes
I know with root it will 100% not work
When i choose laungage dutch the menu is still english
Who can help me?

Tried restore only boot partition still didnt work. Now the "Checking codefire binaries" is gone and its always reboot to twrp even i choose reboot system

I have this model and its head unit is really buggy with apple car play, it would work once and stop working several times or just randomly disconnect from time to time. a pain to use honestly so I started scouring around for means of either fixing the buggy apple car play or experimenting with ways to make android auto work.
I tried the android box and it works fine, but its dependent on apple car play, and just yesterday I got this message:

And regardless of how many times i tried to reset the screen it kept on happening.
anyhow after some digging i found a thread somewhere that had the code for the developer mode.
Steps :
You go
- On the phone app press *#*#888 then press the call key
- A password prompt would come up the password is : 369875
Then a menu with full chinese text will be present, i tried everything until i found a settings button,
at first its an empty menu but if you swipe left or right you get taken into the default android settings menu, i tried starting developer mode and that works but there is no developer options menu in the main menu, probably disabled by the manufacturer.
i did find out that its running Android 9
and that this is the model code for the Headunit : s202_ica_spm8666p1_64_car
No idea if anything is possible at this point, but sharing just in case someone knows.
For as far as i know without toggling on USB debugging its not possible to sideload anything.
Anyone have any clue on where to go with this ?

thanks for sharing this information, I have Changan Uni k 2023, and I used same steps you mentioned, and I got chinese panel, however, I found if you go to the second tab USB you'll find 2 options 1- using usb as an input, 2- using usb in ADB mode, I activated the ADB mode but still my laptop didn't recognize my car unit,
hope you or someone else can help us from here.
it worth to mention that if you go to the tab above cpu, it will show you 2 options, the first one "Settings" it will open Android settings, from there I went to last option "about" and to last item on it which's "IMEI" I think, if you click on it 7 times it will activate developer mode
then you will go back to main page of Android's settings, then advanced settings, then click the tab to show more advanced options, you'll find developer mode
I went there activated USB debugging, and change USB to file transfer, yet nothing happened!
be advised that I did all these steps in order to connect my car head unit to my computer so I can install file manger app by ADB then I can install any apps I wanted in this unit, so if your goal is different and you wanna just fix car play errors, you will need only to go to system settings in main page of the car then resetting,
it will work just fine!
Actually i started for just fixing the car play issue, but then i decided its better if i just go the ADB route and install a file manager app or some sort of store to download apks directly.

Actually I made progress !
If you go into the developer options there is a default USB connection thing that you can set to data transfer, and then if you do go ahead and go to the menu outside and set ADB from that other button it will connect to a pc.
So i tried the following command with ADB tools,
.\adb.exe install -g "C:\Users\vx_10\Desktop\platform-tools\android_auto.apk"
but keep getting errors
I must be missing a step or something, but hey progress made !
I did same steps but no luck, you have to make sure that your pc actually connected to your car by listening the connected devices by this command:
adb devices
then try install command
mine show 0 devices connected
maybe you need a different kind of cable, mine actually shows the device, i am only having this issue with the install about the password

when ever password is requested as the picture you shared, or try:
adb root
adb shell
then enter the password
Thanks man ! i did a lot of progress, finally figured how to install stuff, but after doing so they do not show up in the apps, so i am trying to launch them with shell commands, i downloaded android auto and a browser
This worked for installing :

for your issue I believe there 2 options, install luncher and make it default home, or you can look for the circle dot app it stays on your screen and put your favorite apps to show whenever you click on it.
Dude thank you so much for your help ! launcher did end up working
its awesome with wifi and all, pretty much an android device, but you have to do all the steps to get into it, and the screen is partially obscured by the overlay from one of the UI apps, so you cant press back or return, tried disabling but could not do that from the android system, probably i could from ADB.
Android auto is giving me a similar error
i did try to install them through the web browser but no go, although a lot of progress made, still could not fix the apple car play or get android to work.
Man i love troubleshooting
Also i noticed that when i connect an android mobile through USB, its not detected by anything, maybe i should look for an app that acts like android auto and connects to a phone and check what happens. or i am missing something i dunno.
no problem, I searched about the circle is called EasyTouch
try to find apk and install it, it will save you time reaching out to your apps and adding home and back buttons
also try to install google play apk
also install ES file browser, is good file manger and you can install apps directly with it using usb drive

Easytouch is like magic ! such a good recommendation !
beyond that google play store crashes on startup, maps freezes on startup, waze also, i think some core services that android uses are not installed or something, needs more digging, but overall i found that apkpure is a good alternative for the app store for now.
Android Auto mentions some missing apps but crashes when you try to install them, will try to install them prior and checking again, this was a long journey !
