In this topic discuss about this 2 devices. Are you satisfied to see lg's new phone? How is new UI compare to G4? Does G5's modules worth?
If you ask me : The design of g5 simply awful than g4. Probably the build quality is better. New UI not bad at all. Only thing that i didn't like is that, there is no app drawer on G5. It is interesting to see mew modules on G5 but for me, i don't need to use them.
Hands-on videos made me change idea about this new G5:
It seems to be a very good phone and the new UI is quite fashinating to me
(But launcher icons are ugly, ahah :silly
I don't appriciate new design (the front), but that would be confortable to use, IMHO
Think they should have stuck to 5.5 inch but guess their thinking is 5.3 inch phone is nearer size of most of the flagship phone competition, so in theory more likely to sell more units. Whether in reality that's the situation only time will tell
The smaller display means no G5 for me....5.5in is the smallest display I will go for these days.
I'm going to see what the S7 Edge looks like (on paper and in-hand)...the rumoured 5.7in screen with the curves might feel like a 5.5in device without the curves. The battery and waterproofing I'm hearing about has me interested in this product, and the Note 5 has much better outdoor brightness so I'm hoping that will carry forward to the S7 series.
If the S7 Edge does not do it for me ergonomically, then I'll see what the V11/Note 6 has to offer later this year, or if I get impatient maybe the Nexus 6P (but the 6P might not be much of an upgrade for me over the G4).
Personally,im not very impressed with the new G5.
I'll wait for the g6
Also waiting for the G6. Or the new nexus, we'll see how it compares.
Most likely, bootloader unlock will be impossible, so for me it's a no go (but that's subject to change if development takes off)

Can't see many people buying modules. After all your gonna need to take case off of you want to use them, and how many people are going to want to risk dropping their brand new phone without a case on. I just can't see it taking off anyhow, don't see that's whatwhat the majority of people want from a phone.
And the metal premium body looks pain ugly imo. May have well stuck with plastic/leather.

Sure, they should've used 5.5" screen, but that raises one important question: How big do you think the G5 would be if they used 5.5"? I look at it this way, G2 had 5.2" and one of the best screen-to-body ratios ever. Now the G5 has 5.3" screen while at the same time being taller than the G4 and having a smaller battery... Not impressed at all . They are fishing in the dark, experimenting too much and instead of focusing on the important stuff (soc, screen, camera, battery, design), they introduce some gimmicky "friends" whom practically nobody will use as they will probbably cost 50% of the price of G5. I'm a bit dissapointed...

Well, I'd be the first to get a module for a bigger battery. And you can't see people using it? Yeah I mean, it's that much better that we basically get clone after clone of the S6 or 6S that are just sealed off and "premium". LG is literally the only company that is actually trying to innovate stuff and do something different. I watched the S7 conference and it was like watching any Apple press conference ever. A lot of fancy words with a lot of bull**** behind it. As for the case, I've had an iPhone 4, iPhone 5, G3 and now a G4 and I have yet to put a case on any of my phones. And no, they don't look like they've been trough hell and back.

That is true, the screen to body ratio just gets worse. And how didn't they focus on the important stuff? You have a brighter screen, the 820 SOC, a better camera (or at least equivalent to the V10/G4), a premium metal design (looks nice to me). The only thing that sucks is the smaller battery, but then again, maybe the 820 will compensate for it with better efficiency? Who knows, we'll see.
Feature wise it's alright. No worse than my current G4 (didn't use QSlide or, really, any of the LG additions), but the smaller screen, lack of an app drawer (which, I know, can be compensated for with a 3rd party launcher; then again I would've wanted to give the stock launcher a go), and, most of all, a hideous design are the reasons why I would not get the G5 (moreover, I own the G4 for just under five months). Wonder what they come up with next, but if I had to make the switch now, it most likely would not be a G5.
Small battery, no back buttons, small screen, hideous bulge at the back, friends without benefits , nice idea with modular build but afraid to see "my modular hole entry display broken" like comments......
No go for me. Waiting for next year. Except the SD 820 nothing worth spending so much money.
We have to add a bigger space and pay for Bang & Olufsen module to have a good quality sound ? We don't have to do this with other devices like Meizu or HTC or others devices, Stoopid LG...
G2 and g3 was small diference and no need to upgrade from g2 to g3, g2 to g4 yes, same as g4 to g5 - NO g4 to g6 - yes , simple
I'm done with LG after the G4 because of its issues, mostly the bootloop.
If I wasn't, LG lost me at a smaller screen, smaller battery, and removing the buttons from the back.
Everything was going great until I realized that I need to turn off the phone, remove the battery and turn it on again if I want to listen to music using a 3.5mm headset.
Not that pretty (camera protrusion?), but a metal body is nice.
Size - not a big deal to me, as I use both the G4 and V10 and don't seem to have a preference in terms of size
Camera - interesting having two rear cameras, thou I doubt I would care. The dual fronts on the V10 are actually somewhat useful (group vs single selfies)
No volume button on the back, that I don't like so much
Module addons? Another meh for me, personally. Replaceable battery is good.
UI? meh. I use google now anyhoo. the G4 and V10's uis are ok, though.
I'd take one if it were free, maybe. Dunno If I would upgrade to one, though.

hi friends
i am girish here
I am planning to buy this device can any one please suggest me its pro's and con's?
Also need some sample pictures from cameras to decide as my wife want best camera
hope some one will surely guide me
If you need the best camera, the S7/Edge is the only choice, there is no other phone that can provide this image quality.
Agreed, the image quality is really awesome, sometimes even more realistic than reality ahah
I don't see any con's except for the price
It has the best screen, the best camera, a really awesome battery (see on XDA), a beautiful design (S7 edge), and the water resistance can save you ! Honestly it's THE phone to buy
Consider the dual sim version... Not much more expensive.. I regret not getting it thinking the battery life would be too adversely effected... A colleague of mine bought it after me and we don't notice any major battery life degradation. Regardless, S7 is a solid piece of work..no cons I've noticed after about a month of use.

Well I have a 6s plus as well and the camera is stunning on the edge
Best camera on a phone I've ever seen.
Go for it, can't go wrong.
Best Phone I ever had.
Buy a good case if you buy one of these phones. I recommend this one or cases like it that cover parts of the front. My girlfriend's screen shattered the other day from a waste high drop in a Caseology case and I've dropped my phone on pavement more than a dozen times with zero damage.

Hi guys!
Finally after so many years using WM, I decided to make a change( specially that i dropped badly, deadly my 950xl). I fall in love with the s7 edge screen and specs. The only thing I'm afraid...the screen. I read a lot of storries about the screen cracked from nowhere, or so. Is that sensitive piece of glass?!
If you are going to buy Samsung you should wait for the S8, it will have the latest version of Android, that's how slow Samsung are releasing it to the current ones

Nop, I'm not going to wait (my 950 xl is dead ) so I need a phone, one of this days. The price is not that high, for a second hand one.

Ugly phone and the screen doesn't compare IMO. This screen on the S7 Edge is unbelievable. As for cameras, never used the Pixel camera, but in comparisons I've seen online, they are close, but the S7's camera usually comes out the winner in head to head battles. Especially for speed and more options in the camera app itself, which vanilla Android on the Pixel is sadly lacking.
Take the silver one. It's wonderful

While I have the classic black, yup, the silver one is nice, but my wife has the blue. It is really nice. I would have gotten it myself, but didn't want to have the same colour phone and she got hers first
Ok guys, is not about the color, camera or what so ever. Is about the screen. Is it showing after some use, any black spots or the screen just crack " just by it's self ?" is it that sensitive piece of kit?
I haven't had the S7 Edge for that long, but as mentioned, the screen is amazing. As for issues with it? I haven't read anything online and I did a lot of research before coming from the 6P to this phone. It is built solidly IMO and should have no issues. If others have had a problem, they can post here, but this is a solid phone for sure.
So due to some problems with the quality (bootloop, severe ghosting, etc.) I got refunded,
now the thing is I really loved this phone, the camera was amazing, the screen was crisp and the device looked and felt premium.
What I am most worried about is I don't seem to see a phablet that definitely is an upgrade in terms of camera quality.
The Note 7 first scratches and then explodes, the iPhone 7 Plus 128gb costs 1009 Euro in Europe and besides those two I don't really know any 5,5 inch or bigger that definitely beat the G4 in cam quality
Any suggestions? Anyone upgraded from the G4? If yes, to what? How does the cam compare?

G5 seems to tick all the boxes on your check list.
-Great Camera
-Great Screen
-Metallic,slim and premium
Though a number of short coming too. Actually I read that LG were pretty disappointed with the sales they have so far registered.
Personally would go for Nexus 6p or wait for LG V20
I'd recommend Oneplus 3. Had it for a day now and don't think I'll use my G4 anymore.
Bought my 1+3 it at the same time as I sent my G4 to warranty repair, it was rooted and bootloader unlocked etc.
Still got it repaired for free. (replaced motherboard) But no G4 for me anymore, guess I'll keep it as a spare.

Haven't had the time to try too much, but the few shots I have taken on auto settings, look great. It has a manual mode too, but it hasn't got so many settings as the G4.
I will try to switch to sammy, after doing the g2/g3/g4. Sever ghosting and poor battery....S7 edge has it all, great battery, great camera, beautiful design, water and dust proof....
What about the Axon 7?
Get the samsung galaxy note 4 i know its old but has qhd and removable battery and sd card and has a lot of roms
Note 7 has a nice overall size... Overpriced iphone territory , but with the rep it is currently getting, a price drop will be right around the corner since fire hazard doesn't scream flagship lol
I d prefer S6 EDGE.
xiaomi 3s 4000mah battery and im ok...
I think the V20 would be a very good replacement for the G4.
Very good hardware and specs for the price you have to pay.
Thanks for the suggestions guys, V20 is not available in my country yet and I don't know if it will be but it is interesting. Note 7 seems to not be liked at airlines so I would avoid that. I am thinking about the Oneplus 3.
What worries me the most is that I wouldnt really like a downgrade in the camera department. G4 made great shots even when it was a bit dark!

One plus three takes good shots overall. In my opinion the camera was the weakest point of the 1+3. Software and XDA support is amazing. And the price point is almost unbeatable for the specs you receive.

I had G4 H815. Than the radio died and I've sent it for repair. It took them about two months to repair it. In the meantime I was looking for a replacement. The OnePlus 3 was the first thought, but the camera shots are nowhere near G4 in my opinion. It had AMOLED screen which bleeds my eyes with saturation . Samsung also uses their AMOLED screens which I don't like at all, but the camera is comparable. Nexus 6P is also amazing phone, maybe the best replacement for G4 regarding camera and premium feel. Also other Huawei flagship phones.
I ended up returning to my beloved G4 as nothing compares to leather, 5.5" IPS screen and great camera.
I'm waiting for a Pixel, but I'm a bit concerned that it would be with AMOLED screen also

Well I did switch to s7 edge. Build quality is from another world (tho I bought spigen case, just as for all the lg series I owned) screen is something you need to experience yourself. And it's the first phone I dont feel the need to root! Yesterday with 3hrs20min Sot I still had battery left 40%! You can't beat that, actually you can't beat any of the sammy features! G4 photos still look better but the autofocus of s7 is a unbelievable fast! I feelt in love with lg2 back then after owning s4 and they ruined it! Such a shame

Exactly, in good light the +3 camera is competitive with the best out there but once light starts to get low, the +3 won't compete with the G4.The 6P is better than the +3 camera. But i still give the edge to the G4 over the 6P.
This isn't surprising when its built to such a tight budget. +3 is for people that are not too serious about camera. About price, performance. 3rd party support.
Oh and there is no microsd on the +3 either.

6P is the closest you can get. But you can't take too many shots one after the other. If you can consider the 6P then i don't see why the s7e or s7 cannot be an options .better cameras than the 6P. Te downside is because they use 12MP 4:3 sensor for some strange reason, if you want 16:9 aspect your resolution drops to 9MP. That will lose in some cases to native 16:9 16MP on the LG's.
The edge variant has the option for clip on lenses. The advantage here is you get wide angle or 2x zoom AND retain OIS with the f1.7 aperture. Something neither LG nor apple can do with their secondary cameras but then you don't have to carry extra lenses.
If i was in your shoes and maybe i will be one day, my options are another G4 for less than i paid the first time (such a unique phone in so many ways) or the G6. There will never be another phone like the G4, tapering edges, slight curve, good feel in the hand, leather etc.
The G6 i expect will get the sensor upgrade. G4, V10, G5, V20, g flex 3? all use the same sensor. The software has improved but the sensor remains the same. This is how LG does things. It was the same with G2 up to G flex 2.
Hiya! I'm looking for a cheaper smartwatch for when I don't feel like tearing up my Android Wear one.
I think I've narrowed it down to the NO.1 S9 or the G6. Both seem to have the same processor, same resolution, and close to the same price. Can anyone speak to the difference between the two?
Cheers!
dont hesitate
They are both good watches. One of my firends bought the G6 and I got the S9. I used his G6 first, main difference is G6's screen size is a little bit smaller than S9's ( G6 1.2inch, S9 1.3inch). The other thing is, the push buttons are on the right size, they are low profiled on G6 where S9's are much more visible and I think S9 got metal buttons( not so sure but feels like they are).
Software wise, both watches have similar functions with exact titles but with different icon designs. And also some stock watch faces are different. They both have 5 stock ones and custom face area for 3 more.
I hope this helps.
BTW. S9's usb charger port protection cover is much more difficult to open, I prefer not to fully close, just leave a small piece to catch it with my nails for my next charge.

Hello, everyone!
I watched few reviews about the phone...And really sorry to say it but I'm not much impressed, but I definitely will upgrade to from htc one m8. Big htc fan here . I like the style, screen, colours ..Can't really say about the camera probably will be good. The new sound should be awesome + the headphones... But when come to the software..... For one year they didn't touch the sense? Really ? Even TouchWiz is changing, can't understand why htc decided to stay at sense 8, or like is now just "HTC Sense UI" . In the whole review, I generally see - The colours, squeeze (I think they too much depending on this new feature which we still didn't know how it will work after month or two of using it), How google OK works that was fun tho , wasn't working the first few times and the 3d sound...And exactly how they said - simple. And I wasn't disappointed like this from quite long time .I expected something more "brilliant". They just made a review on software app - the edge stuff, htc companion and OK Google They even didn't mention htc sense, which didn't move much from 2015. Isn't this little bit pathetic to you? I want to hear your thoughts on that. Did you expect more, like me? Anyway, I'm still considering buying it when the sales start in my region.
Well having been able to hold it in my hands and play with it for a few hours I can say the following:
First of I really like the Edge Sense feature as it worked really well on my review unit. In combination with a deeply integrated Goggle Assistant and Amazon Alexa it will be a well done upgrade if new ways of using your phone. Sense has made a large step in the last year and continues in debloating with regard to reducing HTC Apps that are redundant to Google Apps, as well as tweaks regarding performance done under the hood, and last but not least integration of the above mentioned Edge Sense.
Camera is top notch, achieving highest DxOMark - 90 Points - rating of a Smartphone thus far.
Audio has come one step further as well. Only thing to name here, as it will already suffice, is the implementation of Active Noise Cancellation with the In-Ear Headphones coming in the box, and USB-C-to-3.5mm-adapter that brings an integrated Amplifier as well an an 24bit DAC.
The display, though some might dislike the design of the front, has really deep blacks and good colours - especially if compared to an AMOLED.
Ah and IP67 of course is a great step forward.
Those are just my 2 cent of a first impression coming from a personal hands on. Mire will follow once I receive the U11 myself and go to some more time to play.

Screen noticeably better than on 10. U11 is a "must update" for anyone holding prior to a 10. For 10 owners, not mandatory (but definitely better in several ways).
anyone listened to the headphones is it the same loudness of of htc 10 ?
Huge ugly bezels and only 71.4% screen to body ratio.
Looks very much like a pixel from the front which had a very "dated" look from the front and that was months ago in 2016. This being 2017 now this large bezeled design looks even more outdated.
HTC failed in this aspect and really should have shrunk the bezels and made the screen larger as 5.5" is just too small and large bezels are an eyesore.
Other than that the phone seems really great on paper to me and has some very desriable specs.

This is good to hear. I'm a big fan of HTC and this device seems a step in the right direction for them. I put my pre-order in and am very excited. I've also always liked HTC for their willingness to let users unlock as they please, dev friendly. This phone has me pretty excited.
One thing I need to know, is the earpiece speaker better/louder than the horribly quiet 10? If I'm anywhere other than a relatively quiet place I can barely hear anyone on a phone call.

Which colour did you pick. I went for black. Thought of ordering the Amazing Silver but they didn't have it at my carried in Germany. Those two colours are the most gorgeous ones in my eyes. Maybe black is better as on silver you can see fingerprints a lot better than on the black one. Guess this would get me on my nerves by the time anyway.
And the glas, as well as the metal edge are feeling really good in hands. Was a warm day when I used it this first time, and it had a good grip even with my sweaty hands. There was no time it felt slippery to me.

I'm excited to see how the device does irl, I never pre-order. The echo dots are cool, but I don't think I will use them much. Also concerned about charging and using headphones at the same time. I do that at work and on flights. I might wait for the note 8, but that is a long way off and will probably be a huge phone.
For the money, I think the U11 is the best bang/buck combo, especially because it is unlocked, will have custom roms and all kinds of tweaks that this great community will use.

HTC failed in this aspect and really should have shrunk the bezels and made the screen larger as 5.5" is just too small and large bezels are an eyesore.
Other than that the phone seems really great on paper to me and has some very desriable specs.

Get out of here Sammy fanboy. My current HTC 10 is 5.2" and it's not small by any means. I couldn't care less about the bezels on this device or mine... I'll take them over the gimmicky curved edges that cause a slew of annoyances and functionality issues. I had the S8 for a week and I took that crap back and gladly paid the $50 restock fee.

Yeah im honestly not a huge fan of the edge screens either ..gotten used to it but would prefer a flat screen for sure.
And just because 5.2 isnt small to you automatically means that everyone should think the same?
And fanboy? Takes one to know one HTC fanboy

Given an option I'd like less bezel for sure but definitely not even close to a deal breaker. I have multiple phones Pixel XL is my daily driver, have iPhone 7 plus, S8+ and G6. The G6 and S8+ look great with minimal bezel but using Pixel or iPhone 7 plus doesn't bother me at all.

Not a deal breaker for me either im just not a fan of the aesthetics.
The 5.5 screen is something i can't deal with though ...my s7 edge has it and I hate it (although the U11 would be alot better due to the normal aspect ratio). Its mostly why i went with the S8 plus....just for the screen size.

What is this, high school? It's easy to assume your fanboyism based on the phones you have in your signature and the fact that you had absolutely nothing good to say about the U11... Why are you even here? What is your assumption based off of... that fact that I disagree with you? If I'm an HTC fanboy then why would I even bother with the S8? I guess you just overlooked that. You also forget that barely 6 years ago the first Note came out with a 5.3" screen and that was considered huge at the time... And even now that is FAR from small.

If a smartphone can be too thin for its own good, we can agree the same applies to bezels. I wager that people wanting less and less bezels aren't accustomed to the issues that come with them. First, a bezel adds strength... I'll let you take a guess as to what effect shrinking it would have on that. Then there's the absolutely annoying accidental touching issues... and no, cases don't help with that unless you use a really bulky case. I've never held or owned a phone and said "I wish the bezels were smaller" nor have I ever felt that bezels impeded any phone's functionality and my ability to use them.

You really think that the 0.3" that your S8+ has over this U11's 5.5" display really matters, ROFL? Don't make me laugh.

Ive owned lots of phones from various manufacturers over the years including HTC. Other than the 6P there hasnt been anything else that Ive really liked the last few years other than what sammy has delivered.
And i guess your reading comprehension is not that great as i mentioned 2 things i wasnt a fan of on the U11...and I also mentioned everything else looked great.
Im here because the device does hold some interest for me...and because I can be. Dont like what i say....move along...
And i wont bother with your silliness after this, dont want the mods in here now do we?
Moderator Warning,
Guys enough of the bickering please. Can we keep the posts civil. I will be keeping a eye on this thread.

There was no time it felt slippery to me.

this is a tired and worn out argument. The performance of the U11 in all ways justifies the Bezels. Samsung wouldn't be able to pull off as great as a phone with their Bezel-less gimmick. The Bezels are there for good reason.

Please elaborate, Id like to see what exactly bezels...in particular top and bottom have to do with performance.
I could see before on the m7,m8 etc with the full front firing speakers but such is not the case with the U11.
And I wasnt remotely argumentative..i was merely sharing my first impression of the device as that is the thread title is it not?
Thanks.
